Survey view causes crash

LR 3.2 + iMac Snow Leopard. Every time I click Survey View LR crashes. I have the bug report - who do I send it to?

Welcome to the discussions, matthewepler.
If the problem is October, and the user is in Brazil, I immediately suspect a time zone issue. I don't know if the problem was ever solved. See this thread for a work-around.

  • AutoVue viewer caused crash while viewing .XSLX documents.

We use AutoVue Desktop Deployment Viewer incorporated in our application (using JNI). When viewing XLSX (Microsoft Excel) documents on Windows 8.1 x64 system it caused crash of application. It's reproducible only on Windows 8 (8.1 or Server2012) systems. If we set compatibility mode (Windows 7) then problem isn't reproducible.

I would recommend you log a ticket with customer support

  • Keynote '09 Light table view causes crash on Retina MacBook Pro

I just discovered a problem with Keynote '09 (V. 5.1.1, build 1034) on my MacBook Pro 15'' Retina (2.7 GHz Intel Core i7; 16 GB RAM, 1600 MHz DDR3, under Lion version 10.7.4).   More often than not, when I go into "Light Table" view, Keynote suddenly crashes with a dialog box quickly flashing on and off, so rapidly that it cannot be read.  The only way out of Keynote when this happens is to Force Quit.   This does not happen on any of my other Macs (MB Air, iMac, older MB Pro).  I suspect it has something to do with the Retina display model.   Any advice?

More about my post:  Actually, I since discovered the problem occurs on another computer running Snow Leopard and appears to be unique to this one Keynote document.   I solved my own problem by copying the screens from the allegedly-corrupt document to a new document.  There is no problem with Light Table mode in the new document.   Never had this problem with Keynote before, which I've been using more than any almost any other app since 2006 in connection with my work.

  • Lightroom 5 - Bug in Survey view?

    Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, it's the first time I've used these forums and I couldn't find anywhere else to submit a bug report.
I've recently started using Lightroom and have started with Lightroom 5.  I've found that sometimes when switching between Loupe view and Survey view the images in Survey view are different sizes or in the wrong place:
I think it's after something has happened which will remove an image from the current selection while in Loupe view, on returning to Survey view not all images have been re-sized and re-positioned.  It only seems to happen if Lightroom is trying to catch up after a lot of activity.
So the sequence I used to cause the second image was to go from Survey view to Loupe view using the E key shortcut, navigate between various images in the selection with the cursor keys (I did this quite quickly, so Lightroom was slightly delayed in its responses), press X to reject one of the images, which caused the image to no longer match my filter, then quickly after press N to return to Survey view.  Doing anything which would cause a refresh of the images, such as contracting and expanding the section on the right, causes the images to sort themselves out.
I'm using Lightroom 5.0 on Windows 7, let me know if you need any more details.
    Thanks,
    Andy

I haven't seen this in GRID view but there is a problem with phantom images being selected in Compare View and after leaving Compare View.  This is another of many LONGSTANDING bugs still not fixed in LR5.3.   This was reported almost a year ago.  This is a SEVERE bug as you can accidentally delete or change images after using compare as images are selected that you don't know about.

As you can see in this clip, no photos are selected in the film strip, one photo is selected in the main window and the info line says there are two photos selected.  If you switch to GRID it will show no photos selected but if you do a remove photo command, two photos will be removed.  Severe bug as far as I am concerned.

  • Bug - LR3.2 unable to reorder photos in quick collection / survey view

After editing photos in Photoshop CS3, I'm looking at them in Quick Collection and want to reorder them before export. But it doesn't work. Sometimes I can move a photo one place, but not two, sometimes not at all. I have other RAW photos in Quick Collection. I seem to be able to reorder them amongst themselves, but not move them into the Photoshop .psd photos. I sometimes get an error message "cannot complete assertion", sometimes accompanied by crash.
First time I've seen this. Also Photoshop files are now appearing as the first images in quick collection whereas they used to be grouped next to the RAW file I was editing.
    Similar behaviour in Survey View.

These .psd photos  appear to be corrupted in some way. One didn't show the changes I had made in PS, but then when I reopened in PS the changes reappeared. I was able to reorder them finally in a Collection.

  • Opening stack automatically in survey view

I'm using Lightroom 5, and was wondering if there's a quick way to display all items in a stack in Survey View.
Right now, I can do that by:
    Expanding the stack
Selecting all items in the stack
    Switching to survey view
I was wondering if there was a quick way to click on the stack and get it to open in Survey View.
Failing that I was wondering if I could automatically select all the items in a stack.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Perfect!  One of the many permutations I hadn't tried.  Thanks!

  • Survey view in Library module is unfair

Whenever I'm using survey view in the Library module to select a few photos, and I'm having photos of both landscape and portrait orientation, either one of them is displayed considerably smaller than the other.
I think it would be nice if both orientations were displayed the same size, like in grid view, because when I select from a collection of photos, I slightly tend to favor photos that are bigger.
    Marc

    True.

  • Add photos to a specific Collection from Survey view?

When I'm doing my edit from a shoot, I often use the Survey view to look at groups of images. Also, I use collections as a way to store selections into future use categories like Contests 2010, Portfolio, etc. In Survey, it seems only possible to add photos to a Quick Collection or view it in an existing collection, but I want to be able to add it to other collections either via drag & drop or by contextual menu. Is this possible to do this and if not, is this something other users find useful enough to add as a feature request?

I think the drag and drop would be difficult to implement as all the images in Survey View have to be targeted.
However, if one had the ability to set more than one target collection rather than a single collection or the Quick Collection I think that could be useful for organizing while in Survey View. Just as we can change the meaning of the color labels we could be able to select say, five different collections and assign a target shortcut to them. So whie in survey view (or any view for that matter) I could hit 22 and the image)s) would be added to any collection I deemed to have a target of 22. Add the shift key so as not to confuse with Ratings.
Currently I cannot suggest a simpler way for you since you state that you are in Survey View. A feature request? Sure go ahead and make one.

  • Photoshop CS4 and graphic cards. Can cause crashing?

Since upgrading to CS4 I seem to have increased crashing.
    Here are my system specs.
    Mac 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    9 GB of Ram
250 GB internal dedicated scratch disc
NVDIA GeForce 7300 GT with 256 VRAM
After having endless techs look at my machine and upgrading everything. I am beginning to suspect the graphics card.
With OpenGL can a underperforming video card cause crashing in photoshop especially with massive file sizes ( multilayered CMYK poster sized files the can exceed 7 GB)?

Did you install the 11.0.1 update?
Is your OS up to date with patches?
Have you tried disabling OpenGL in preferences to avoid using the GPU/Graphics card?

  • Wrong aspect ratio in Survey view

I selected 3 photos and went to the Survey view. Of these photos, 2 were full frame, and 1 was cropped so it has a wider aspect ratio than the full-frame pictures. Survey view showed all 3 the same size, so the cropped one was stretched vertically and looked horrible. What's up with that?
...Lightroom 1.1 on Mac OS X.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's a good tip to keep in my back pocket.
I don't think this is what happened here though -- the preview image looks correct at all other views in Library mode (grid thumbnail, loupe view, and compare view are all correct; it's only screwed up in survey view). No amount of switching between views, or invoking Library->Preview->Render (1:1 or standard or telling it to discard and rerender) fixes the one in survey.
It also turns out this is reproducible on demand, if I go from survey view on an uncropped photo straight to develop, crop, and return to survey: if I select 3 images, hit N to enter survey mode, click one of the images, hit R to go to Develop and enter crop mode, crop the image, hit E to return to Library, hit N to go back to Survey... the photo I just cropped has the wrong aspect ratio.
If I quit Lightroom and reinvoke it, that corrects the bogus shape of the image in Survey view. I haven't yet found any other way to correct the shape.
As an added bonus, if I go back and forth between Survey and Crop (using R from the Survey page), Lightroom will pretty quicly get in a state where it's stuck in Library and any attempt to go to Develop will say "unable to switch modules", and I have to quit and restart Lr before I can use Develop.

  • Question: How to display rating in SURVEY VIEW

    Hi,
I've been using Lightroom for years. I love to use the SURVEY mode.  But today, I couldn't see the rating stars under each photo in Survey mode; I only see the flag status.  Now, it's probably something I did, like hitting a shortkey or something... but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to bring back that visual information.  After searching online + fiddling around with the settings, I finally thought I'd come here and ask if anyone knows...
    Thanks!
PS. Lightroom 4.3RC  (why 4.3 RC, because I'm one of those plagged with a super slow Lightroom in develop mode, especially with my D800 files! I'm crossing my fingers with each RC update that the software will be faster... )

    Thanks Rikk!
your screenshot pointed me in the right direction. It just happens that I had changed the background color of the Survey View, and the stars rating were now blending with the background, creating the illusion of them not being there.

  • CR2010 Report Viewer control crashes application when deployed

I have been using the latest release for CR2010, on a Win 7 x64 machine running VS2010 targeting .Net Framework V4, and all is working fine.
However, when I publish my WPF application as an x86 client and deploy to a WinXP machine, the Report Viewer control crashes the application.
    Any clues out there?

Yes there is not much to go on. As I described, the symptom is a crashed application - nothing else I can tell you. When you select a report to load into the Report Viewer control - down it goes with nothing more than a "send this dump to microsoft" message.
I do have some further enlightenment however. I can deploy the application to the standalone machine straight out of the Release bin and it works fine. Given that is the case I can rule out the CR2010 run time install as the issue. What I suspect is the problem is that the individual report files (.rpt and .cs) are not being packaged by the VS2010 publisher.
There may be a way to do this, but I do not know of it at this point in time, so I have marked this problem as having been solved, but I would like to know if anyone has a solution to the deployment of CR files using VS Publish.
    Thanks

  • CC 2014 (18.1.0) | Text Field editing causing crashes (Windows)

    Greetings;
I've noticed lately that when saving files from CC 2014 to a CS6 format - and having those files edited on Mac, in either CS6 or CC - when re-opening those files text fields have been causing crashes on the Windows client. When that same file is opened and text fields are edited on the Mac client, a prompt will just appear stating "Cannot Edit text" - yet it still allows it.
This has caused multiple issues for our teams as it has created files we're starting to refer to as "mine fields" - as working with the .ai file is like playing Russian roulette with text fields, you never know which one is going to crash the file.
I would love to work with a team member from Adobe to help find a resolution to the problem, and I'm willing to provide any additional details that might aid in that process.
    Thanks!

    Hello Pureweb,
Please upload the crashdumps on some file sharing website say Dropbox and share the link with us by sending a mail to "[email protected]". We will analyze the dump and will suggest you the workaround appropriately.
In parallel, please check that you do not have any 3rd Party plugins installed in it. Please try to remove them one-by-one and see which one causes the crashes or do reverse i.e. remove all the 3rd party plugins. Or Uninstall Ai and check at following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2014
Please verify that nothing is left at above location on uninstalling Ai. Then try a fresh install and see if Ai works.
Also, verify that you have the updated Wacom drivers on your system. This might be an issue with the 3rd party program as well. One of the user who was having a similar issue reported on the Ai forum that one of the 3rd party Stahl's ImageWorx DTG RIP - a program for printing to a Direct To Garment printer was causing the issue. So, you may check if the similar thing is not happening in your case.

  • Barn doors transition causes crash

    Dear Community,
Applied barn doors transition to a project in CS4. Stored that project in 2010.
Opened the project in CS6 CC - and barn doors caused crashes - so I cleaned off the old and applied replacement barn door transitions in CS6 CC.
Once the wipe is applied - its fairly stable - sometime crashes sometimes doesn't.
If I apply a broder colour to the wipe - all ok.
If I then apply a border thickness - crash every time.
    System;
    Premiere Pro CS6 - 6.0.3 (001 (MC: 264587)) through cloud membership
    Updated and current
    Win 7 Pro - SP1 - 64 Bit
Source footage SONY EX3 - .mp4 and still image .png's
No error messages - just crash and need to restart PP CS6
Try to apply colour and border to a barn door transition causes the error
This worked before on the smae project when created in CS4
Not running other software at the time
NewBlueFX modules installed but not applied to this area of sequence
i7 - 3.20GHz, 16GB RAM, SSD OS drive, 4 x drive RAID on LSI RAID card, - No I/O hardware
I am using Are you using Mercury Playback Engine Acceleration and CUDA
Problem occurs during normal edit - as soon as I start to adjust the barn doors wipe - I don't get to compression
    Thanks
    Dave

Since the original report earlier today - I now just have to put the timeline scrubber over the barn doors transition and PP CS6 closes without an error message and without saving. The unfortunate part here is there doesn't seem to be any record or log of the crashes to be able to disseminate whats going wrong.
Barn doors worked in CS4 - and the only change in this project is the re-opening in CS6 CC."
Question; Did I put something in there that was defammatory, rude, obnoxious, incorrect or un-helpful?
If anyone here believes I did, I sincerely apologise for the need of moderators to have intervened... and for causing any offence.

  • Flagging in Survey View

I'm not sure how to explain this, but I'll try because I seriously want to cry...
When sorting photos, I set the filter to "unflagged" and then bring up 5-6 photos in Survey view. I then would start at the 1st photo and either flag or reject (thus it disappeared from view because of the filter) and LR2 would automatically advance me to the next photo. I can sort through hundreds of photos very, very quickly which is great as I shoot a lot of weddings.
So, LR3 won't let me do this. If I have a group of photos selected and either flag or reject, it applies this setting to ALL the photos in the larger selection, not just the one highlighted. I'm stumped. Previously, you could only batch photos in Grid view (which I can understand the complaints and why they probably changed this feature), but I have no idea how to sort my photos in a timely manner. I have to view 4-5 photos and pick the best one, and clicking on the 'x' to remove it from my selection, and THEN having to click on the photo later and reject is time consuming and too many clicks. I want keyboard shortcuts.
HELP! Please!!  Even if I can't get around this, and you have a better way to sort weddings photos, I'd be much appreciative.
    Thanks!
