Surveys created by iWeb

Hi,
I'm a teacher and I wanted to create a web site for students to anonymously take a survey at. I've never used iWeb before, but with a little advice from this forum and limited knowledge from a past computer class I managed to use a combination of Wufoo, cut and paste, some additional html editing and I got my survey to be nearly what I wanted and published it to my mobile me account. The problem is that I can't seem to access responses. I don't even know where to go to find them, but everywhere I've tried hasn't led to any answers. Is it even possible to get the responses that would be submitted on my page with the click of my "submit" button?

The point in using the services of Wufoo or similar is that they deliver the response to the email address of your choice.
To be able to direct responses yourself, you would have to go to a commercial hosting company which has built in script handlers.
Here's an example of a form using CGI ....
http://roddymckay.com/Feedback.html
The script is run on my server at Host Excellence.
As you are publishing to MobileMe, I image you would have to use something like Wufoo's service. I thought they did the first 3 forms free? Maybe they are too limited for your purpose?

  • How can I replace an existing html website with a new one I just created on iWeb?

I just created a new website on iWeb. It as to be published as a html site. Someone else already created a previous site, and used the name of my company. We hired him to do it, but he didn't do that great of a job, so now I need to know how to replace it. Thank you for your help!

Make sure the site folder created by iWeb is named exactly the same as the site folder currently on the server.

  • How can I Publish to a Folder just one of the several websites I have created using iWeb?

How can I Publish to a Folder just one of the several websites I have created using iWeb?
it drives me nuts having to emove all the other websites when I want to upload one.

For iWeb, I like to do only one site per domain file.  I move domain files out of the Application Support folder and place them inside project or client folders, or in DropBox. Once you duplicate a domain file and begin customizing it, it will load and behave as a separate project/site.
I publish each iWeb domain/project direct to a server via FTP. Sometime I publish to a folder, then upload via FTP manually.
iWeb is a remarkable tool, especially when you work from scratch with blank tamplates

  • Problem with internal links created in iweb 06 after upgrading to iweb 08

I have a site I created in iweb 06 and have uploaded to my own server (not .mac). After switching to iweb 08, I have found that any blog entry that has a title with punctuation of any kind results in a broken link (404 page not found error). I am using fetch to upload the site, and am wondering if in need to change some fetch setting or preference. iweb 08 seems to use the blog entry title as the link, and it just won't work if there is any punctuation in the title. Everything uploaded perfectly in iweb 06. Is this a glitch in iweb 08 or am I doing something wrong. Thanks for any advice you can give. I have not upgraded to OS 10.5. (If you want to look at the site it's www.doylelogan.com/dlctravel)

All your links are live except the one you mentioned.
I don't understand what behavior you expect from the links. Your rollover color is very close to the normal and visited one. If you made it contrast more, the link would be more obvious.
I don't like to underline links but maybe you need to do this if you feel that they are not obvious enough.
Undo and redo the link that is not working.
It may be that iWeb needs a jolt. Try the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here....

  • How many website can I create with iWeb?

How many different webpages can I create with iWeb? I just created a site to show friends a slide show from a recent trip, but I need to create another webpage that will have video on it. It would be a totally different subject matter. I do have a .MAC account and not sure if I need to do anything with that so I can have more webpages.
I guess what I am saying is that I am going to need different URL's for the webpages I am going to need to create and want to know how many you can have or create using iWeb.

You can have multiple websites, each with multiple pages depending on the need. To make managing multiple sites easier, take a look at iWebSites. The limiting factor, as was pointed out, is the available space on your iDisk. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • Is it possible to embed a page I created in iweb into say perhaps a CL ad?

I noticed some craigslist ads that open up to a site page such as this:
    http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/sls/1008010274.html
I would like to do this with a page I created on iweb such as this:
    http://web.me.com/emailgennarino/Site/AD.html
If this is not possible with iweb what do I need to do to make this happen?

If you look at that Craig's List posting you linked to it is an image. So you would need to make a jpg image of your iWeb page and link it to the ad using the add photos section of your ad.. An easy way to make a jpg/gif/pdf file of a web page is to use Paparazzi@.
You could post a link to the web page but adding a jpg version would be better IMO.

  • How I do to open a website created with iWeb in other computer

    Hi,
My web site was created with iWeb last year in other computer, a dead MacBook. I have a copy of my web files created with iWeb, and moved to my new computer, iMac.
Now I want to edit my web using iWeb, but I can´t find the way to open the files to modify and actualize my web, etc...
Does anyone know how to do this? can iWeb open and edit a web site created by itself?
    Help will be appreciated,

Felix ~ No, only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
“Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.”
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • Linking to a page not created by iWeb?

    Good day everyone -
Just a quick question, is there a way to link to a webpage not created by iWeb. I don't currently own iWeb, but it is coming with my new MBPro. I really like the way Adobe Lightroom creates SWF pages for gallery use, can I create a link inside iWeb to direct visitors to a webpage created with another software program? Thanks in advance everyone.

Yep, it's a piece of cake. The lLink connection inside the software's inspector allows you to link internally or externally.
I have several such connections on my pages, for example see:
    http://www.NWBpool.com
    links to:
    http://www.MackenzieProductions.com
The first is iWeb. The second is not.

You need the Domain.sites2 file that's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder in order to be able to manage and publish the site from another computer?
Do you have that file? If you do copy it to the same folder on the other computer and you're ready to go.
If not then you'll have to recreate the site from scratch.  Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site. 1

I am wanting to publish a website created in iweb via a third party web host. How do I put a password for anyone wishing to visit the mysite?

You create the usernames and passwords where you host your website. Made with or without iWeb.
Usually it's done in the controlpanel where you manage your account.
If you cannot do it there, you'll have to do it yourself. See this post :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16014940#16014940
And what is the purpose of password protection for ANYONE who vistis your site?

  • IE 8 not able to see image reflections created in iweb 08. What can I do?

IE 8 cannot see the reflection of images on webpages created in iweb 08. Firefox sees' them fine. I am using a web style that automatically reflects the inserted image below it on the Welcome' page and 'All about me' page. However after publishing, most PC/IE 8 users only see the reflected image as a solid image repeat directly underneath which then covers up the text below. Is there anything I can do other than unticking the reflection box in the graphic inspector box? This is a pity as it's a really nice feature. Can anyone help?

    Bonjour
Before beginning, you need an image with a reflection effect in iWeb
    1. Publish, visit your website with Safari
Make a selective screenshot of your image and its reflection in Safari (sometimes the colors are not the same in iWeb and Safari - you need the colors showed in the Browser)
and replace your original image by this screenshot in iWeb.
    Publish
Now you have a JPG file published in your website (if you don't add a mask, a rotation or a flip to this image)
    or
    2. copy your image in iWeb
    open Preview
    cmd N
You can see your image with its reflection in Preview.
    show the Preview sidebar
drag and drop the thumbail from the Preview sidebar to iWeb
Now you have a PNG file published in your website
I prefer the first way to do because I will publish a JPG file and not a PNG. PNG makes a big file.

  • Multiple websites created in iWeb

Do I need to set up multiple .Mac accounts in order to have completely different websites that I create in iWeb? Or can I create different websites with my one iWeb account that I already have? Each website would have a different domain name purchased at GoDaddy.
If I set up separate .Mac accounts, how would I open them up separately in iWeb?

I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites. It has been updated for complete compatibility with iWeb 2.l It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
