The process that should run the SAPinst GUI could not be started. Please make sure that a JDK is installed on this host and that SAPINST_JRE_HOME points to the root directory of your Java installation. As an alternative you may start the GUI on another host (for details please consult the installation guide).
Java has been started with the following command line:
-Xmx256M -Dsap.env.var.javahome=SAPINST_JRE_HOME -cp /tmp/sapinst_exe.20600.1392479296/JAR/instgui.jar SDTServer rootdir=/root/.sdtgui config=jar:sdtserver.xml guiport=21212 httpport=4239 -nolock -srvarg=/SAPinstService/host=127.0.0.1 -srvarg=/SAPinstService/port=pipe:5:8

Dear Beny,

  • Suse11.2 SAP ERP6 ehp5 java version

    hi, guys
whats the java version of suse11.2 SAP ERP6 ehp5
    thanks

ah! my mistake, You no longer have to download and install a Java Development Kit (JDK) from another software vendor as a prerequisite for the installation.
    I think page 11 https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001414082012E
FYI - you need to use the SAP NetWeaver server installation guides (ABAP or Java versions)
in parallel to the Installation Guide for SAP ERP 6.0 Including Enhancement Package 6 ABAP and Java

Hi, Accidentally somebody screw up Photoshop CS4 and InDesign CS4 Master edition on a MAC computer in the school. The install discs did not start to run therefore I can't  reinstall the 2 missing programs. I want to install the softwares, therefore I download those from here.  The downloaded program refuse to accept the serial number which was given to the school when they purchased the Master Collection CS4 MLP A00. Thank you for your help, in advance.

    Hi Jeff,
Thank you. I am a little bit busy at work, sorry for the delayed reply. I tried to solve the problem, but it still exists. The 3rd of the Adobe disk is damaged someway. I tried to run on my mac at home and it has a failure. So I think we have no other choice that to download the full pack of master collection. I had a discussion with the IT expert and he figured out that company does not exist any more from where they purchased the Adobe Master Collection for Mac and PC. So If you would be kind to help me, what kind of information ID or any kind of document would be needed to identify the purchaser institute (us). I don't think any of us has an account at the Adobe. I will try to figur out. I desperately need to replace Photoshop and InDesign as without them it's really harsh to teach the kids fot the graphic design.
    Sincerely yours.

    Query by serial number
Apple's warrenty database will identify the type of Mac you have.  Your serial number is securely sent, but you get only the name of your machine.

Could also be a database connection issue.
    What database are you running?
We've had an issue where the database (MSSQL) was hosted on a seperate server and where Windows Authentication was used. To resolve the issue, we had to change the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) service to start with the Windows/domain account.

  • Oracle 10G Non-Network install - OEM will not start when on the LAN.

    Greetings,
Got through a non-networked 10G Enterprise installation OK; I chose to create the orcl schema, connected to it through various utilities, added new tablespace, and all was well. I also checked my Host Name by pinging it in DOS, it showed me the IP address of the MS loopback adapter which is what I was expecting.
Once I connected the same machine to the LAN (and internet) and re-booted, for some reason the Host Name was now assigned the dynamic IP address of the LAN and not LAN2 (which is the loopback adapter that is assigned a static local IP address). It did this even though I had already added an entry in the /etc/hosts file that explicitly assigns a static IP address to the Host Name (as recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions). I also could not get the OEM to launch a webpage, run and connect to the orcl database after the re-boot; I am wondering if this is related to the IP address assigned to Host Name changing; maybe the Oracle agent can no longer resolve the URL for some reason?
In the end I find that the only way to insure I can have a working Oracle environment and be on an active network at the same time, is to bring up the Oracle environment on a standalone system first, and once Oracle is running connect the system to the network. Is there no way to automate this process?
The format of the hosts file entry recommended by the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions is as follows:
    ===========================================================
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
    where:
IP_address is the non-routable IP address you entered for the loopback adapter.
hostname is the name of the computer.
domainname is the name of the domain.
    For example:
    10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer
    ==========================================================
In my case since I am not part of a Windows domain (but am part of a Windows Workgroup), I added an entry in the /etc/host file that looks like the following:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    # For example:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.110.250 IBM-6AB1330E158
==> Note that I did not add the domain name to the entry I created since I am not part of a domain, I also used the format I found in the etc/hosts file which is:
    IP_address hostname.domainname
    - not -
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
Which is the format recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions; this does leave me wondering which format is correct...
Thanks in Advance for any help,
    ADG13

I have not. I am hoping someone (maybe even from Oracle support) will step up and officially tell us we are either right or wrong in the way we are approaching this. From the research I have done on the internet it sounds like this should work, you should be able to have Oracle starting and running fine whether you boot connected to the LAN or not, assuming you have created the MS loopback adapter, assigned it a static IP, and changed the hostname entry in etc/hosts file as part of the 10G WinXP recommended pre-installation instructions.
And yet I find I have to start Oracle when I am not connected to the LAN or the services will not start correctly. If this is a "feature" then hopefully someone will tell us and maybe give us a workaround or give us an idea if this will be addressed in a future release. Having said that and in fairness to the Oracle product; being a developer I have other products installed on my machine that have special networking setup needs also, and in my case this could be exasperating or even possibly causing this Oracle problem I am having. To be specific I have software for 2 different VPNs installed so I can tunnel into 2 private networks. One of these VPNs require me to make use of a DNS Suffix (as shown below) which might be contributing to my problems, not sure. I also have VMWare installed which uses it own network adapters when it is running, so you can see how things could get a little hairy... at any rate, there is my 2 cents worth (or is that 5 cents? : )

  • RAM INSTALLED BUT COMPUTER NOT STARTED

    RESPECTED SIR,
I HAVE G6-2312AX HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK /LAPTOP. WINDOWS 8 INSTALLED IN IT. 4GB RAM ALREADY THERE. NOW I WANT TO ADD 4GB MORE. I PURCHASED 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ RAM AND TRIED TO INSTALL IT. BUT COMPUTER NOT STARTING. KINDLY TELL WHAT TO DO. JAI HIND
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It sounds as if you did not put in a pair of identical memory modules or did not use guaranteed compatible memry modules. You can't use the module that was already there unless the one you are adding is identical in all respects.
Only use guaranteed modules in identical pairs if you want your memory upgrade to work right the first time.

  • New install lightdm does not start

I've installed arch and not much past that point.  After troubles with lightdm I installed gnome and used 'systemctl enable gdm' and gdm worked after my reboot.  Anyway, more info on my lightdm problem.
    Steps to install
    pacman -S lightdm
    pacman -S lightdm-gtk3-greeter
    systemctl enable lightdm
    reboot
Upon reboot screen flashes a couple of times and then stops.
I had installed xfce4 prior to this and made sure the xfce4.desktop file existed.  I've looked up other posts and I have not had look implementing their solutions.  Any ideas?

    Hello All,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I was trying everything, but I do not think I've done something good intentionally.
After each of the below steps I tried to run sapinst again.
    1. Restart user session (sudo)
    2. Reboot server
    3. Rename /tmp/sapinst_instdir/.lastInstallationLocation
    4. Rename <user_home>/.sdtgui/
    5. Rename sapinst_exe.xxxxxx.xxxx
After 4 and 5 it did not start at all.
It now has opened correctly showing me the initial screen with all the options of sapinsts. If I encounter the problem again, I will try each step again more systematically.
    Kind Regards,
    Kirill

sdtdsu.jnlp file also I saved in my system but front end screen not coming?
You don't have to save it, you need to run it in a java enabled web browser. It is hard to diagnose as the problem can be in various areas, Try another client, another browser, check installed java versions etc.

  • SAP JVM switch SAPINST GUI not launching

    Hi All,
I have performed SAP JVM switch in all portal servers. One of the server is giving issue. I is not launching sapinst GUI screen. There was 2 JDK versions installed j2sdk1.4.2_13 and j2sdk1.4.2_29. I keep tried changing j2sdk1.4.2_29 in some properties file besides java home is pointing to j2sdk1.4.2_29. I also changed SAPINST_JRE_HOME property in environment variables with  j2sdk1.4.2_29 to be in sync. Now below log is showing  j2sdk1.4.2_29 but it is still not launching sapinst gui. Please help. System: Portal 7.0.

    Thanks,
    Kavitha Rajan.

    very true Reagan.
Kavitha, you just need to make sure that the instance profile has the right details.
SAPJVM_VERSION. Enter the new version of the SAP JVM e.g.:
        SAPJVM_VERSION = 4.1.028
        and
        jstartup/vm/home = <location of the new jdk>
        for example:
        jstartup/vm/home = /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/jvm/hpia64/
                           sapjvm_6.1.028
After the change, delete following files (they will be recreated after the j2ee restart):
    /usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/instance.properties.vmprop
    /usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/SDM/program/config/sdm_jstartup.properties.vmprop
Now do a complete cluster restart.

  • Sap Installation Messed up (GUI not starting)

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... anyway I have a problem with my sap installation.
What happened is that I tried to install Adobe LiveCycle Designer using the SAP front end installer.
I left only the Adobe LiveCycle Designer  option checked (Business Explorer and SAP GUI were unchecked): the installation program started to install that software, and then began to uninstall the SAP GUI.  When I realized that I stopped the setup program, but the SAP GUI was obviously messed up.
The problem now is that I can't install the SAP GUI again, because the option doesn't show anymore in the setup program.
The feeling is that something is not consistent between the filesystem and the Windows register.
Does anybody experienced the same problem or has an idea on how to solve it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi MosMarco,
I am happy to hear that your problem is solved! But you didn´t need to thank me as you found the solution yourself!
Have a nice day and have fun with the Adobe tool!
P.S.: Please check that the Adobe editor is also actually working, because in the past I had some troubles with installing the wrong version! :-s

  • Virtualbox - Installed VM will not start

    Hi,
although I'm satisfied Arch user for quite long time, this is the first time I feel need to ask on this forum. So, please, bear with me
I followed installation instructions on  Arch wiki:
    pacman -S virtualbox-host-modules virtualbox
    modprobe vboxdrv
Since I am using stock kernel, this should be sufficient (according to the guide). Then I ran virtualbox, successfully installed Ubuntu 64-bit and rebooted VM. All went ok. However, after turning the VM off, I am not able to turn it on again - VBox freezes after showing two "Starting mirtual machine" dialogues, similarly as in this post. No dmesg output, vbox log here. I tried this process several times, strangely, sometimes the system booted, but mostly I got stuck again.
My system is 64-bit Intel, package versions:
    linux 3.15.8-1
    virtualbox 4.3.14-3
    virtualbox-host-modules 4.3.14-3
Not sure if its important, but I chose 2 GB RAM and 20 GB HDD space for VM.

I have the same problem. I am using virtualbox_4.1.8_OSE. I followed the arch wiki on phpvirtualbox. As suggested I also used the Conf file and rc script from PUEL edition in AUR. But it fails.
