What image are you running on the Sup720? Was the sup powered down prior? Most likely this is a bug - it's a false message. Bug id is included below. Release notes is also included below.
You can read the same Release Notes I included below by looking at the bug itself from this link:
http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/support/tac/tools.shtml
Search for "bugtool kit" hyperlink and click it. Enter the bug id I ID below in the ensuing window.
Maybe this bug:CSCee45650
Problem description :
A sup720-3BXL running s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB may show the following when executing the command "show version" :
System returned to ROM by unknown reload cause - suspect boot_data[BOOT_COUNT] 0x0, BOOT_COUNT 0, BOOTDATA 19 (SP by power-on)
Impact :
There is no impact on normal operation of the switch.
Workaround :
There is currently no known workaround.
I am pretty sure this is it especially if there is no crashinfo file.

Cannot use the command "warm-reload" on IOS 12.4T
Hi,
I would like to use the command "warm-reload" like the following documentations on the router 2611XM with IOS 12.4T.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/fundamentals/configuration/guide/warm_reload_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html
I thought it available, but actually at the consol which connected with the router, it did not exist.
How can I use this command on the IOS 12.4T?
Regards,
OkumuraHi, Ganesh.H

Hi everybody
According to my book, if an LSR can not fragment the labelled packet because of DF bit, following will occur:
Only if the IP header has the Don’t Fragment (DF) bit set does the LSR not fragment the IP packet, but it drops the packet and returns an ICMP error message “Fragmentation needed and do not fragment bit set” (ICMP type 3, code 4) to the originator of the IP packet. As with the ICMP message “time exceeded” (type 11, code 0), which is sent when the TTL expires of a labeled packet, the “Fragmentation needed and do not fragment bit set” ICMP message is sent, using a label stack that is the outgoing label stack for the packet that caused the ICMP message to be created. This means that the ICMP message travels further down the LSP until it reaches the egress LSR of that LSP. Then it is returned to the originator of the packet with the DF bit set.
However, when i put this claim to test, i do not see that behavior.
R5---R1 f0/1-----R2----R3---R4
Above R1 f0/1 mpls mtu 1400
On R5, i generated a ping of 1500 , DF bit set. R1 should send ICMP error towards R4 which then send it to R5.
R5#debug ip icmp
ICMP packet debugging is on
R5#ping

I do not see such ICMP errors message being received. Wireshark capture between R1--R2, does not show that any ICMP error message from R1 either.
I suspect the packets with DF bit are silently discarded by LSR ( R1). If this is true, then my book is pretty wrong.
thanksThanks Nagendra

Hey all,
Is there a way that the BGP VPNv4 peer table can be monitored like the global BGP table (1.3.6.1.2.1.15)

Notice that the 10.98.128.222 peering is not in the global BGP table that SNMP reads?
The closest that I can get is to put a threshold on the amount of prefix recieved via a peering:
CISCO-BGP4-MIB::cbgpPeerAcceptedPrefixes.10.98.128.222.ipv4.vpn = Counter32: 1
CISCO-BGP4-MIB has no table contructs that resemble the ones in BGP4-MIB

Can anyone help me in solving this issue. Any kind of help is greatly appreciatedHi,
SW1(config)#
you have to be in (layer-3) interface configuration mode, e.g. on a SVI:
R1#conf termR1(config)#interface vlan1R1(config-if)#standby 1 ip 1.1.1.1
Hope that helps

Asrock ION330/Nvidia HDMI - No audio output
Machine was running archlinux and not been upgraded in over 6mths but HDMI audio worked fine. Decided to do a scratch build since all the changes in that time and have a nice clean system.
If it helps, this is what I install. Ssed this exact same install process for another Asrock ION330 and Acer Revo3610 (both same hardware) but neither use HDMI at all. Both VGA with either optical or analog audio. Both work with no additional config.
pacman -Sy nfs-utils screen ntp alsa-utils mlocate xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils mesa nvidia ttf-dejavu xfce4 gamin slim mythtv unrar lirc xbmc wget
Get no sound output but also zero errors on any of the following commands. I should add that the receiver does not detect any audio coming in, ie it usually identifies how many channels of audio and type it is receiving.

[SOLVED] HP420 and Built-in microphone don't work.
I have a trouble with my on-board microphone in my laptop (hp-420), it was working some months ago (with previous kernel) and I didn't use it for a while, after several upgrades now I tired to use it and it doesn't work. Second microphone, a jack, doesn't work either, and it's arch related, because I did some tests in windows (have dual boot) and both the built-in and jack work fine. So far I have tried testing alsa configurations, played with preferences and some other things I have read over the internet and in arch forums, but no luck at all. I may think it's kernel related but I'm not sure as I'm not an expert. Also sound works fine, it's only the built in microphone the one I can not get to work. I whish someone could help me or guide me.
So all the info I could gather about my machine and the sound

What is under the switches tab?
Oh -- By the way, that picture is over the size limit defined in the forum rules in tems of pixels, but the file size is okay. I'll let it slide. Watch the bumping as well.
If you want to post the switches tab, upload it to someplace like http://img3.imageshack.us/, copy the thumbnail (which has the link to the original) back here, and you are golden.
I had a bear of a time getting the microphone working on my HP DV4, but it does work. I'll look at the set up when I get home tonight [USA-PDT].
Sorry for the picture and the "bumping"... I have asked in irc in arch and alsa channels and no luck yet... one guy from alsa said I had to wait for the alsa-driver-1.0.24 package (currently I have alsa-driver-1.0.23) but it is weird because the microphone worked some months ago...
So here is what it is under the switches tab -
IMac Power supply PSU failure due to UPS type
I am posting this to aid anyone else who has suffered a similar issue as it took me some time to rectify and it was difficult to find evidence of proof.
Preamble:
My late 2012 27" iMac began powereing off, sometimes after a few days sometimes after 20 minutes. It gradually got worse until it would not power on at all.
I had tried all possible fixes I could including - reset SMC and NVRAM, reinstalling Mavericks, running from an external HDD with a cloned OS, running with a fresh Mavericks install on a USB stick.
Also ran Apple Hardware tests and used Micromat Techtool 7 with no problems apparent.
Also tried running when moved from my desk and plugged into a different socket in the house (this point is especially relevant).
Repair attempts:
Apple (via Amsys) changed the logic board. This worked for a day then the fault reoccurred. Apple (Apple store this time, Amsys scratched the aluminium housing previously so I avoided them) then changed the PSU.
This fixed the fault and the iMac ran with no problem (apart from audio missing - another discussion perhaps!), BUT when I moved the iMac back to its original position on my desk (having been plugged in the aforementioned other socket) it would not power on again. I then realised it was the UPS and iMac were not playing nicely. If I plugged the iMac into the UPS when the UPS was already powered on, the iMac would work until the next random power down. I have used the UPS with everything else including the iMac for over a year so didn't suspect it. However, I do have the occasional brownout (power dip) and power cut so it has been utilised for the iMac a handful of times without issue.
Solution:
I have now researched and concluded the iMac PSU (at least the Energy Star 5.0 onwards compliant ones, not sure about older iMacs) need a Pure Sine Wave UPS otherwise the PSU may be damaged as mine was. It may not happen until the UPS is called upon either. In fact any active PFC PSU could be affected. I could not find this out from Apple or APC (my UPS manufacturer), only with some reasearch and my own knowledge of electrics. It seems that not all iMacs are as sensitive or for other reasons this fault will not occur with a similar set-up to mine, but I am now confident that this was the cause. Please note I do not yet have my own Pure Sine Wave UPS and I am now running without one for the time being until I buy a Cyberpower CP1300EPFCLCD or similar.

yes, there are some people complaining here about power supplies -
I'd contact Apple and tell them your problem. Being hit twice by the same failure is not nice. Usually they cooperate - have a look at just this post her:

My Nokia E7-00 Belle update - the good, the bad, a...
Late last night I installed Belle on my E7-00 Anna. It was a completely hands-off install using the USB cable connected to my PC. It took about 15 minutes with multiple restarts of the phone all done by the software update.
I have a 12MB Internet connection (or so my service provider claims) and a UPS backup to reduce the chance of failure due to a poor Internet connection or untimely power outage.
The update was uneventful and the update software did perform a backup before the actual update began. I did do a backup myself of the Anna install before doing the Belle update.
Although I am technically very experienced and competent with Windows based computer hardware and software, I don't consider myself particularly knowledgeable in cell phone technology. So I was glad to see the update go smoothly.
However, all was not peaches and cream after the update completed. Once I started to use the phone I found that many, though not all, of additional application I had downloaded under Anna were no longer on the phone. Also, many settings were gone as well such as my WLAN settings, and later I found all my Favorites gone.
I spent a couple of hours going through all the menus reorganizing the interface and the various options to get the phone in what I consider to be a usable state. These things are made so that one can optimize to suit ones needs and I take advantage of that.
I'm disappointed that I had to spend so much time and effort doing this (actually redoing what had been done in Anna) and feel that the update should have, and could have, kept many of my settings. I understand that the new widgets and home screens meant a re-jigging of those things but, for example, why did I have to re-enter all the WLAN settings required to connect to my home router, including a very long security string? More below.
I am glad that I did the update in spite of all the time and trouble to get everything working again and to suit my personal preferences. I suspect a lot of users who have less experience than I in these things will be seeking help to get all their phone features working again.
Perhaps it would be useful to explain how I use my phone. This is my 6th or 7th cell phone and I'm on my second cell service provider (about 8 years). I have had cell phones continuously ever since they were small enough to carry on one's belt.
I am not a power user. I use the camera occasionally for recording information. I don't download music for listening but occasionally listen to music from the Internet via WLAN. I have not sent more than about a dozen text message in my life, though I have unlimited texting in my cell service package.
I use my cell phone mostly for business calls. I do not have any data service from my service provider. I tried the data service for about 3 months but found that I used it very little. I don't have a Twitter account (thinking about it) nor a Facebook account (and not thinking about it) so other than the rare instance to search the Internet for some information (when not near my own WLAN connection) I found little use for it. Data service here in Canada is one of the most expensive of any country (or so I have seen reported on the Internet). So I decided to save the money.
I do all of my email at my office or at home on desktop PCs with big screens and full size keyboards. Occasionally I connect to my home WLAN with my phone to check email or to check for updates to the phone software. But I don't like to do much typing on the phone keyboard, even though it is really a very good keyboard for a cell phone.
I do use the map/GPS feature regularly and think it is one of the best I've used. I've gone through about five stand-alone GPS units which gives me some reference for comparison.
I'm not much of a game player, never have been, even on my computer. I do have Angry Birds because it was free, and it is nice once in awhile to have something to occupy time when waiting at a doctors office or for a haircut, etc. and all the newspapers and magazines are old.
Here are things that I especially like about the new Nokia (Symbian) Belle software update:
I like the clock screen saver (I use the digital version rather than the analog display) because I can quickly look at my phone without having to unlock it and see the time/date (I've stopped wearing a watch). It is also a great nightstand clock and alarm. With the Light Bar app installed it is not too bright for sleeping but visible when needed. I suspect though that it is sucking a lot of battery power and I may have to disable the clock screen saver if battery charging is too frequent.
The user interface is very good. It is terribly easy to add or remove widgets and move them around on the home screen to suit ones needs. The bar across the bottom makes accessing the applications menu, phone dialer, or options menu extremely quick and easy.
The pull down connectivity menu is superb. With one touch I can turn on or off my Bluetooth, which I use with my car hands-free feature everyday. Turning Bluetooth often when not need saves power. With three taps of the screen I can connect to my home router, or disconnect with one tap.
A new capability that I now have and wished for previously on my E7 (but couldn't figure out how to do) is being able to put my phone in Off-line mode and still use the WLAN feature. This is great in the evening at home when I don't want to be connected to my cell phone provider, but I do want to look up something quickly on the Internet without going to my desktop PC.
After the Belle update I found that I still had the following applications (originally installed in Anna) still available on the phone:
Angry Birds
US and Canada Maps plus voice guidance
App Stop Camera Lover Pack (multiple apps)
Opera Mini
Sticky Notes
Here is a list of software and setting that were no longer on the phone after the Belle update:
Applications
Public Transportation
Beeps and Vibrations voice guidance
Converter
GPS Info QT
Compass Lite
Nokia Internet Radio
Display Brightness Control
Nokia Battery Monitor 2
Compass Touch
Here and Now
Settings
WLAN settings and password strings for three routers
Start-up custom Welcome message
Phone display settings
Route settings for maps
Voice guidance settings
Home location for maps
Lost all Favorites including many map locations and Internet radio Favorites
Lost all call logs
Lost all phone pairing - car and headset
Lost call mailbox number
Since I have had the Belle update for less than 24 hours I am certain that there is more for me to discover. But I thought it may be useful to provide this experience report as a heads-up for those about to do the same. And now I will have to update my E6-00.Thank you for the feedback hpholm.
I hope that you are very wrong about having to sync with OVI online services. I have never done that. Nowhere have I seen that as a requirement to store all the data on my phone. And as I said, I do not pay for a data service with my cell provider and only connect my phone to the Internet through my home or work router, or through my PC via USB cable. So syncing to a remote site is not attractive to me.
My impression from Nokia on-line information is that the Nokia Suite application, which runs on my PC, backs up my phone - everything. Where is the logic in backing up everything except my map Favorites. Why would those be an exception?
Additionally, I am not interested in having to backup my confidential information to someone else's server where (in my opinion) I have less security than on my own PC (I do tech support and know how to lock down a computer).
Also, in most cases when one puts information on someone else's server, especially a free service from the like of Google, Facebook, Twitter, (might I suggest Nokia?) etc. one loses control and rights to that information. I'm unwilling to do that simply because someone else thinks it is good for me to do. Ha!
Nothing is truly free. You pay somehow. These service aren't there because they are altruistic. How many billions is the IPO for Facebook worth? Gotta be a reason. All that information that people put there about themselves and others is the reason.
I doubt Facebook would pay me anything to put personal info on their site. I assume most people would think me a bit loony to expect it.
In any event, though there is a lot to like about the Belle update, there are a lot of unnecessary complications, with no warnings!
As I read the posts about peoples experiences with the Belle update I'm seeing a lot of disappointment. From my experience in computing hardware, software and network support it is my opinion that the Belle update was rushed and was done in a less than professional manner.
From what I've been reading, people who have updated to Belle have generally expected it to be near perfect and hassle free, and many are really disappointed. The end experience with the Anna update was much better in my opinion. Not good for Nokia customer relations.
Nokia customer loyalty easily rivaled that of Apple. But that has been seriously damaged with things like trashing Memo, going with the MS Windows phone OS, and a disappointing Belle update for all those expensive Nokia smart phones. Kinda dumb.
I suspect that most if not all of the first line developers have been pulled off Symbian to do development work on the Windows phone OS. The missing or incomplete bits and pieces in Belle, plus some gratuitous changes suggest less then experienced software developers working on Belle.
Enough grousing. I just hope that things get fixed, but I'm feeling very pessimistic right now. I wouldn't mind being proved wrong. -
S/PDIF Suddenly Stopped Working... Analog Sound Still Works
Hi,
I'm running a setup with an Asus Crosshair IV Formula motherboard connected to a Sony receiver via S/PDIF cable. Until a recent reboot, it worked fine with ALSA / PulseAudio. I'm assuming something I upgraded stopped it working but I don't remember what was in the last update.
Plugging headphones directly into the soundcard works fine. Using a microphone plugged directly into the soundcard works as well. The issue appears to be purely with S/PDIF (I'm yet to try HDMI audio...).
I've tried plugging the receiver into another piece of equipment and that worked fine too, so there's some issue with the PC not sending information to the receiver, not an issue with the receiver or the cable.
I removed pulseaudio and this didn't help.
Please help me get this working again...

Found this thread on the Gentoo forums which suggested downgrading so that alsa-lib and alsa-utils were the same version as in the kernel, used downgrader to try this but still didn't work. Tried another approach, installing this package from AUR and upgrading back to 1.0.25, still no luck.
Trying to play something on the device gives no errors:
[luceo@calumon: +2] ~
(2:501)$ aplay -D plughw:0,2 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono

Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
However, trying to play to the aplay -L listing 'iec958' gives:
[luceo@calumon: +2] ~
(2:505)$ aplay -D iec958 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
aplay: set_params:1087: Channels count non available
I have no idea if that's normal or not.
alsamixer shows:

work?
Did you try this while running a DE? Did you try disabling/enabling powersaving?

APC Power Backup Advice for Small Office
I wasn't sure where to post this but I was hoping someone would not my pointing me to the right forum or offering some advice.
I am trying to put the finishing touches on a conversion to mac and have been looking at buying a Power Backup in part for the power part (no crashes and safe shutdown) but also for surge protection.
I have a MacPro (and a monitor), a Time Machine (for the MBP), 2 - 1TB WD externals, a 500 GB Iomega External (for the MBP), a 3DConnection spaceball device and 2 printers on the "desktop". And then I have a 1 TB Seagate External that I keep plugged in on another table for backing up the MacBookPro now and then.
A. Is there anything else (other than temporary power and surge protection) I should be looking for when purchasing such a piece of hardware?
B. Should I be getting everything on the "desktop" plugged in to a backup device such as this and if so how do I calculate which device to buy?
C. Is it a crime to leave the 1 TB Seagate that is not conveniently located off this backup/surge protection system? I suppose it would be wise to unplug it and only plug it in when I am running a backup?
TIA for any advice. It's been a long haul and I'd love to make sure I am finishing this with some pro level advice/approval.

...C. Is it a crime to leave the 1 TB Seagate that is not conveniently located off this backup/surge protection system? I suppose it would be wise to unplug it and only plug it in when I am running a backup?- external hard drives use very little power, you can keep it plugged in to the power back up or not. Since you're not using it often, the odds of it suffering a surge power problem are rare...
A couple of things to consider in that scenario: first, while it's not necessarily true of all external drives, some, such as LaCie, are noted for the early failure of their power bricks. Since I've been using a LaCie power brick for over ten years without a problem, I suspect that's because it's not connected to a power source except when it's in actually in use. Even when an external drive is not actually spinning, the power source is still live and perpetual cooking is probably not good for its health. I follow that rule with all devices that use power bricks, including Seagate and WD external backup drives and no brick has ever quit.
Second, the Seagate external drives I've used tend to run very hot because of poor or nonexistent ventilation. Indeed, the SMART record of one of them showed a heat failure with a 155 degree F. reading "in the past." Especially if leaving the drive plugged in means the drive is actually on, keeping it unplugged except when it's in use is a good idea. -
BSOD on boot due to Lenovo Power Manager
I was uninstalling this Power Manager last time on computer. I do not remember what version it was. It was stuck at 94% for long time (half hour), so I shutdown my computer instead of waiting for it.
Now my windows 7 cannot boot at all. Not even safe mode. All I can boot in is the repair tools, but the repair tools did not help at all. I cannot afford to reinstall a system as there r many important files inside C drive and user directory.
Blue screen says: Stop 0x000007B
I cannot believe this application is even more painful than removing a virus on the computer.
Waiting online for solutions as I really need my computer.
Solved!
Go to Solution.First of all, thank you for replying such old and helpless topic. unfortunately I did not find a way to solve this issue. I highly suspect that is caused by one of sys file that power manger was using. I do not know which one. As a result I have to insert my disk to another computer retrieve all important files then do a reinstall. After reinstall everything works fine.
I am not gonna reinstall power manager again. It was a big disappointment from Lenovo. -
I would need to connect an external drive to my iMac computer?
I have an iMac hard drive that was purchased 1 year ago from the Apple Summit Sierra store in Reno, Nevada. I have had a lot of issues so this drive was replaced by a new one. The old hardrive contains OS 10.5.x and has appleworks which I created a lot of documents.
The Apple Summit's Genius bar installed OS 10.6.8 onto the new hard drive and now, I am NOT able to open those files that were created with the appleworks software that resided on the old hard drive. I notice that appleworks was replaced by Pages which will not open appleworks files.
So this is what I am asking the community...
1. I would like to connect the old hardrive as an external drive so I can open these documents. What is the best way to do this? Someone mentioned that I would need a "sled" which I suspect is an external casing that has it's own power and connects via USB. I don't recognize the type of plug that I would need.
2. The old apple computers could start up from the external hardrive connected to it. Is this still possible with the newer intel computers?
I would appreciate anyone's suggestions or input. Thank you...To use the HDD as an external drive you need and external drive enclosure. It would connect with your computer via USB or FW; my preference is to have it set up for both for flexibility .Check your computer ports to see what you need.
When you buy the enclosure check to see whether it comes w/ the cables you need.
A good source to check for the HD enclosures is: http://www.macsales.com/ If you're not sure of what you need just call them; they're very helpful. There are other sources for these but OWC is my favorite.
Your old HDD is probably bootable. Once you have the drive in the enclosure connect it to the computer.
You can get some data, etc. from the old HDD to the new drive by clicking the ext. HD icon on the desktop to open & dragging whatever you want (or Copy/Paste) to your new HDD.
Alternatively you can set the external drive as Startup Disk:
Go to System Preferences>> Startup Disk. Your new external drive should show there. Click on new drive and Restart. When the computer has rebooted the external HDD (with old HDD) will now be the Startup Disk. Until you change it again in System Preferences.
Do you have the appleworks software disks? You could install that on the new HD, and just move the files from the external HD to the new drive---or is that part of the plan?
Good luck w/ this.
