Suspending service while in Army basic training?

I have been a Verizon customer for almost 10 years..when I go to Army basic training what do I do with my phone/cell service? Am i allowed to break my contract or do i suspend it temporarily? I'll be gone for about 19+ weeks and don't want to pay for service if I can't use it. Thanks!

Thank you to the community for assisting with this thread! Service can be suspended for active military deployment purposes up to 24 months total. After that time, a specialized team handles the accounts to ensure proper action is taken on account, including re-suspending service. Verizon Wireless does not penalize those in our countries armed services by purposely re-activating an account or by any other means. We take great care to accommodate in these special and often sensitive circumstances. This sounds like a simple error that should be addressed with Verizon Wireless directly, instead of jumping on a forum that we may or may not see. There seems to be no information on suspending service while on vacation. I did it last year and "they" tried to charge me more than I actually pay for the service. I believe there should a transparent fee for aforementioned. Other then that the service has been fine.

I am replying to my message. I called today and asked about suspending my home phone and DSL for two months while we are on vacation. The girl said fine and the cost would be approx. $7.00 a month for the phone and a one time fee of $9.99 for the DSL. A short time later I get a E-Mail from verizon telling me that I will have mobile call up service for the internet and that will be $9.99 a month and that it is mandatory to have to "maintain the account". What a "crock" I have a cell phone, don't really need the home phone and am beginning to think I would be better off without the home phone.

Suspending Service for Military Move overseas

My husband is in the Navy and just got orders overseas. We will be living in Italy for 3 years. I have had my number & account with Verizon for over 10 years. I do not want to give up my number and account history while I am out of the country. Is there a way to suspend service for 36 months while the Military moves us to Italy? I know active duty can get it suspended while they are on deployment but I wasn't sure if I, as a military spouse, would be able to use the suspension. I am a very loyal Verizon customer and I do not want to switch my service provider.

In this link, it is mentioned to create ORCLTEST service apart oracle's original service_name (ORCL) and TAF on ORCLTEST service while creating cluster database using DBCA. Why do we need this? can we apply TAF on the original service name(ORCL)? if so, how can i do it? While connecting from any applications like web based application which one to use ORCL or ORCLTEST?

As Jeffrey says ... during the install, he created the extra TAF-aware service. "It provides all the necessary configuration parameters for load balancing and failover."
TAF has some non-traditional configuration requirements. Go back through the install & configure sections to see exactly how he did that. Or read the Oracle Networking manual ... TAF is primarily implemented in the Oracle Networking layer and the appropriate OCI libraries.

Suspending service does not work and I keep getting an error message (South Korea)

Hi, I am currently back at home at South Korea during the summer and I cannot seem to suspend my service.
I continue to get this error message saying that suspending service is not available at the time and that I should try again later.
I got this message over the past 10 days and I cannot seem to suspend my service.
Since I am in South Korea, customer service live chat does not even work.

I am currently on business in India and would like to contact customer service but am unable to do so through the 1-800 number. I have sent e mails through the website but have received no response. My inquiries are regarding possible international calling plans that would allow me to not be charged full roaming fees. I have an HTC Droid Eris which is not a world phone but still works here, apparently because of other CDMA networks here. I would also like to pay my bill for this month but am apprehensive to do so online because of India being known for very poor internet security and frequent credit card scamming. CSS - all connections dropped when suspending service

I just suspended two prod services with the understanding that all existing connections would be allowed to timeout. Once I suspended these prod services the connection count (20 total) started dropping slowly until it reached 0 connections. By the time I realized this the damage had been done. Has anyne seen this behavior when suspending services?

When you suspend a service, the CSS rebalances the remaining services using the failover setting.
Suspending a service does not affect existing content flows, but it prevents additional connections from accessing the service for its content.
Checking some release notes of the version you have, we can notice there are some bugs which might be related with suspension
That should not be an expected behavior

My bad, it doesn't really give you the details that you were looking for.
For wifi - you would have to reenter the password. I'm not sure about celluar data.

Suspend service

I need to suspend service on one line. My question is will I still be paying for that line just being still in record? Or is it when you do suspend service you do not pay for anything on that line until you reconnect it again?

You can suspend a line for three months with one 3 month renewal. You can either continue to pay and not your contracted months down, or suspend without paying and extend the contract for the length, for up to 6 months.
Be sure to specify which you want or you will be suspended and still required to pay.

Slock suspend@.service triggered only after resume

This might be some kind of X server and not systemd issue, but I was under the distinct impression that slock should always be triggered before suspend with the following, nevertheless sometimes on lid open (resume) the desktop loads appears for a brief (~.1 seconds) before switching to the slock screen). systemd has no way of knowing when slock has finished starting so it doesn't (can't) wait until slock is active. You could hack around this by adding a fixed delay or you could try i3lock with Type=forking (or another locker that supports something like this).

Used iPhone with suspended service showing lost or stolen...HELP!

I purchased a used Iphone 4 a couple days ago. The seller still had his service active so I figured I could just call and switch it on over to my account.... Evidently it doesn't work like that. So I contacted him and he said he would take care of it. So today he says he called and suspended the service. When I called Verizon they said it is showing lost or stolen.
If you don't register another (junk) phone on the number before you suspend service will the iphone show as lost or stolen... or would he have had to have called and done this?

The phone would have to be totally off his account. He should not sell a still active phone on his account.
Verizons activation computer must have realized the phone meid was already on another account and name.
He must totally remove the iphone from his account and must call to state the phone is not lost or stolen.
Some folks have put these phones out for sale on Craigs List, or ebay etc. then report them lost or stolen to get the money and in some cases their phones back. I must tell you to buy from a dealer and no private sales.
Get your money back and buy one from the store.

Two comments:
1) The generated proxy looks correct. If you explore the generated code for the InputParams object and the Rowset object, they should represent the incoming and outgoing data structures for your transaction. If not, and if you are returning an XML property type from the transaction, be sure that you have used the "Assign Reference Document" technique to tell MII what the structure of your outgoing document is (there are a few other discussion threads on that topic).
2) Personally, I find it much easier to consume MII services from .NET code using a URL-based technique instead of a SOAP based technique. Invoke the "Runner" servlet (see the documentation) and you'll get an XML document back, that will always be in the MII Rowsets/Rowset/Row format. Also, it is "self describing" because it includes Column metadata information. It is very trivial to load this into a .NET XmlDocument object and parse/process it. In fact, doing a similar approach, I've been able to make MII services appear as ADO.NET tables/stored procedures to .NET code.
