Suspicious charges for apps on my iTunes account

Hi experts, I have a number of new charges on my iTunes account for apps I didn't download, and my kids say they didn't download either - charges are anything from $1.99 to $5.99. I have cancelled my credit card for my iTunes account so won't happen any more. But, is there a way to see which device downloaded the app? That way I could track down the culprit.
Thx in advance,
Glen

Hi Brad, I have had similar experience with my iPad. Many small charges without authorization on my credit card. Changed credit card number and put money on account with Itunes by way of prepaid card. Now I can't use the money to purchase apps because I no longer have the old credit card with it's security code and this code is required to access account. My three months of support is up so they want $29 to solve the problem for me. I sure hope someone can help.
thanks

If you don't have a rescue email address, or you don't know what it is (you won't be able to add/view it until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • Can I avoid paying (again) for apps on new iTunes account for child?

So, my wife and I bought our daughter an iPod Touch for Christmas and have decided that it is time for her to get her own iTunes account. The problem is, there are so many apps that we've downloaded for her on our iPad and iPhones over the years that we just don't want to have to pay for them again under her iTunes account. Is there a way, either through Home Sharing or some other means, to redownload them or transfer them from our devices into her iTunes account without deleting them from our devices since her account has nothing?

You can't transfer any content to a different account, those apps will remain tied to the account that bought them. As long as they are on the computer's iTunes that she syncs to then she should be able to continue to use them (but only your account will be able to download updates to them).  If they are not on the computer that she will be syncing to then you should be able to copy them over to it either via home sharing (copying between computers), or you could copy them via , for example, a flash drive (you can find where they are stored on your computer by right-clicking one of them in the Apps part of your iTunes library and selecting 'show in explorer) and then add them to the new computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library (you will need to have authorised your account on that computer's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option).
If she will be syncing the iPod to a new computer then you might find this page helpful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs?

  • How to add apps (free or paid apps) to my iTunes account (via iTunes on PC) for later download on iPad?

How to add apps (free or paid apps) to my iTunes account (via iTunes on PC) for later download on iPad?
In App Store, some apps may go on sale (become reduced in price or completely free), and these offers are usually available for limited time. I may want some of these apps but can’t download & install them immediately on my iPad for certain reasons (e.g. lacking strong Wi-Fi coverage or lacking free space on iPad or iPad is out of my reach).
How to purchase these apps from my PC via iTunes, to be added to my account and become available for me to download on iPad later?

Deleting from your computer is not necessary and I would not advise it since again it's wise to have a backup. But otherwise, yes, once you make a purchase from any source, the app should in the future be available for downloading from the Purchased area in the iTunes Store app on your iPad. This presumes of course that the developer of the app has not removed it.
    One note:
delete the downloaded app file and this will remove it from my PC (and automatically become removed from my iTunes library)
This is the reverse of the correct procedure. If you really insist on removing the app from your computer, delete it from within iTunes. iTunes will ask if you also want to move the app file to the trash. Deleting the app file manually will not automatically remove it from your iTunes library.
    Regards.

  • Apple deleted my account when I made a complaint about being charged for apps that I did not purchase! The said it was for security reasons as my account must have been compromised but only Apple have mu information.I am convinced the operator delete

Apple deleted my account when I made a complaint about being charged for apps that I did not order. They said that my account had been compromised and it was in my best interests to delete it for security reasons! I am convinced the operator deleted my account out of sheer malice because I complained - can anyone advise?

No. It would have been done for security reasons. You notified them that money was being unknowingly taken from your account, so they froze it.
    Change your Apple ID here
And also check for unusual activity on your credit card with your bank. Change all your security password while you are at it.

  • If I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail) can I convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account?

I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail).  I then changed my account sign-in to a different email sign-in (ME) because of iCloud.  Can I easily convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account when an update for each app occurrs?

Did you change your existing iTunes account or did you create a new account ? If you updated the existing account then you should be ok.  But if you created a new account, then as apps are tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded them and they can't be copied or transferred to a different account, only that original account will be able to download any future updates to them or re-download them on a different device.

  • Transfer purchased apps from one iTUNES account to another

I have purchased a few apps on an iTunes account, have set up a new account and bought apps on that. Can i transfer apps from one iTunes to another?

The Solution is that you will need to keep account A active for as long as you have those Apps...
Or you can Get Them Again using account B... But if they are Purchased Apps you will have to pay again...
Free Apps are of course Free...

  • Transfer apps from my iTunes account to iTunes account of different person

    Hi,
I will sell my iPhone 4 with my apps to another person.
How can I transfer my apps to his iTunes account as I will not have a new iPhone and do not have use of my apps anymore ?
Is that possible and how can I do that ?
    Regards,
    Jerry

iTunes content downloaded with more than one iTunes account can be in the same iTunes library, which requires constantly logging in and out of each iTunes account with iTunes as needed. There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer.
What you can't do is transfer iTunes content that includes DRM protection from one iTunes account to another iTunes account. All 3rd party apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the apps. You can't switch the DRM with 3rd party apps downloaded with one iTunes account to another iTunes account, or combine the DRM with apps downloaded with more than one iTunes account. The same applies to any other iTunes content that includes DRM protection. All music purchased from the iTunes store used to include DRM protection but no longer, but all movies and tv shows purchased from the iTunes store continues to include DRM protection as with 3rd party apps which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the content.

  • How do I get apps from my Itunes account to my Ipad?

I have apps on my Itunes account on my laptop and want to know how do I get them onto my Ipad2

Have you ever synced your iPad with your computer? If you have synced in the past, then sync the apps to the iPad. If you have never synced this iPad with iTunes on your PC, iTunes is going to ask you if you want to erase the iPad and replace the content on the device with the contents in your iTunes library.
So have you ever synced with the PC before?
You can download the apps again for free in the purchased tab of the App Store on the iPad - as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought the apps with.

  • After use another itunes account Apps of old itunes account stay untouched[intact]

If i HAVE ACCOUNT from Another country lets say CountryA, hence my country do not permits register in itunes, and have a credit card of a friendB in CountryA, what supposed to do: use this credit card[of a friendB] in my account or use/login to my friendB's itunes account and use his credit card? Both can be done...well what do?
After use another itunes account Apps of old itunes account stay untouched[intact]?

If have an account with credit card in itunes and buy apps for ipad-1 [PC-1], then login in this account from another PC-2 win, and want to install the same bought apps but for another ipad, ipad-2 then:
    needed reinsert credit card?
prior bought apps needed re-buy them?
may copy apps files.ipd files from PC-1 to PC-2 without buy them?

  • If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

Just wondering, what context is this in?
First up, is your iTunes account part of an iCloud account?
Secondly, if it's a free app, why don't they just download it? If they are having trouble finding it on the App Store, but you can find it easily, you can share the link for it via email with them, and if they view that email on their iPod they can just tap the link and it will open the App Store to that App for them, so they can download it themselves.
If you were to go to the Store settings pane and sign in with your iTunes account, that should only provide the possibility for download items from your iTunes account, such as purchased apps, music and movies. However, if you signed in, downloaded the app, and then went back and signed out of the account again, there shouldn't be any access apart from the app you downloaded. This is provided you sign in using the Store section of the Settings app, not the iCloud section.
One problem they will have if you download this in your account instead of theirs, in order to download updates for that app, they will need you to enter your iTunes password to download the updates. Doing that doesn't give them access to anythign to do with your account other than that update, but they will be unable to receive updates for it without your password. They would also likely be unable to sync the app onto their computer, as their computer would not be Authorised with your iTunes account.
If you can answer some of the questions I've asked, I may be able to suggest alternate ways for you get them the app on their device.
Hope this all helps a bit

  • Been charged for apps I never ordered under app F.A.S.T.  How can I correct this?

Charged for apps never ordered on my iPad. ..under F. A.S. T. Game that is free. How do I recoup my money and keep this from happening again?

Launch itunes log in to the app store, and click your name and get your purchase history. click on "report a problem." and request a refund. please note that apps that are "free" often have purchases inside the app. You can disable this under restrictions. But apple is pretty good at offering refunds. If this doesn't work, post back.

After establishing the Credit Card account (i.e. after you have made purchases), you can remove the credit card information by editing your payment info, choosing "None".
