Suspicious Console Log, Computer Crash

My computer has been repeatedly crashing as of yesterday afternoon. I ran a virus scan this morning and when it completed, it again crashed. So I had to open the console log to view the virus scan summary, and coincidentally I came across a suspicious looking activity log, during the same minute the crash occurred.
Any advice?

  • Console logging multiple crashes with name "systemstatsd" (Mavericks)

Ever since installing mavericks on my macbook pro ( mid 2009 ) , system keeps freezing every few minutes ( every 2 minutes ). It stays frozen for about 2 minutes. Doesn't matter what Application I am using ... its the same ( hang after a few minutes ).
I looked at Console app ( it itself has shows as not responding on Activity Monitor when I try to look at the crash reports ). Its been logging multiple crash reports under the name " systemstatsd " .... I have over 50 crash reports by now.
Here is a copy of what is inside those crash reports:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JwCcLgh4vvun3NjWjh1iXOfNbjL9kJicdjrMLtzjbGs/ edit?usp=sharing
    Few more things I tried:
Verify disk (Macintosh HD) --- it failed
Repair disk --  I repaired it after verify disk failed
Problem is still there repairing disk didn't do anything
    Please help

Same problem with constant systemstatsd crashes - every 4 mins or so.
Computer is freezing for only a second or two each time.
Clean install of Mavericks 10.9.1 on a mac mini server Macmini4,1
Verify / repair disk revealed no problems.

  • Suspicious activity in the console log

I was looking at my Macbook Pro's console log and there are some suspicious items in there.
    For example:
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder , IP Address changes, websites I’ve never visited, and something called x-terminal that keeps popping up on my desktop.
I have only used my Macbook for internet browsing and have never run or entered any computer codes in the console log.
Is there an explanation? Is it possible that any of the above could be run without me doing anything?

try upgrading to at least 10.4.4 of mac OS as there may be an issue with 6.0.3 running on 10.3.9...that might fix it

I am assuming that this is related to my slow computer after waking from sleep.  Every click has delayed reaction up to spinning beach ball in length.  Went to console log and see this same message repeating over and over and over.  What does it mean?  How do I fix it?  Is it related to the slowdown?
    Thanks

Ok...  Sometimes Mail will abort the restart that I am trying to do to get the system back to normal speed so I was wondering about that "plug-in" which appears to be more than a plug in.  It put a bundle in my Library/Mail folder that can't be deleted...
Here is my log now which starts showing errors as soon as I reboot... I am backing up now.  It seems that there should be something that I could remove without a clean install, but I can't figure it out from this....Thanks for the insight...

  • Console logs: Couldn't read user-specified computer name

Last night I was experiencing frozen apps, was unable to open web pages and could not open the Apple menu to Restart computer. Somehow I eventually managed to Restart and everything seemed OK.
When I checked in Console logs tonight, I saw this message:
Couldn't read user-specified Computer name; using default using default "Macintosh 00145112d484. local instead"
I found BDAqua"s reply to a similar problem dated 4/14/08 - "Try editing it in both places in Sharing Pref pane." However, I could not find what I exactly had to edit!
I would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks.

    Hi there,
However, I could not find what I exactly had to edit!
    In System Preferences>Sharing Pref pane...
Then click on the edit button to verify, it'll have the .local after it here.

I've a problem with what appears to be my ICC profiles. Mail and iWeb will consistently crash due to this problem. As the subject above says, all Applications will regularly report the following in console.log:
    cmsDataProviderGetBytes : CMCopyProfile: returned -4204
CMSValidateProfile : Unable to read ICC profile
    To reproduce:
    in Mail:
    1) Open Mail and go to Apple Menu > Preferences > Rules
    2) Create a rule with action "Set Color of background" and in the colour picker drop-down menu choose "Other" -> Crash
    in iWeb:
    1) Open iWeb, choose "Welcome" as a template and click "Choose" -> crash
In an attempt to solve the problem, I have tried:
    1) Using ColorSync Utility to fix profiles
    2) Replacing /Library/ColorSync/Profiles from the OS X DVD
    3) Creating a new profile using Display Calibrator Assistant
    4) Creating a new profile using a third party application, SuperCal
    5) Repairing permissions/my startup disk using Disk Utility (doing this last of course)
Does anyone have some other ideas? I don't know whether this is new to 10.4.4 or not.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.

Have had the same problem when I tried an experiment to get iPhoto to stop adding a color profile on my existing photos without a profile.
I removed the .icc files in /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles and got similar messages in console.log as you do.
Moving the icc. files back made the problem disappear.
What files does your folder mentioned above contain?
Guess you should have the same files as I do.
My folder contains 6 icc. files, including Adobe RGB 1998 and sRGB. Removing these solves my iPhoto fuckup, but as you experience makes other apps crash (like iWeb ..)

  • HT1420 My computer crashed, i have purchased a new one, how can i deauthorize the old computer without logging in on it?

My old computer crashed. I have purchased a new one but I cannot authorize it on my account until I delete the old. How can I  do this since my old computer does not work?

    You cannot... But...
If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

You and I (for sure me) probabbly don't have the inside information needed to decipher those logs.
Have you done any basic repairs like Disk Repair?
Better, run DiskWarrior if you have it.

  • My computer crashed and I cannot get to my itunes.  Anyway I can log into it from another computer? I have an iphone now and want my music on it.

Help!  I lost my itunes music. My computer crashed.  I want to move to another computer to get to my iphone. I just bought one. Love it.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • Sleep related "crash" - can you interpret my Console log, please?

I use wireless networks both at work and at home. I just close my Powerbook to sleep it when moving backwards and forwards between the two, every day.
When I was finished at work yesterday I closed the lid, but then realising I wanted to check something before I left I opened it again. I was greeted with a couple of seconds of full fan, a black screen and no response. I closed it again and went home.
When I opened it at home I received the same non-response as before: No reaction to any key combination. I held the Power button down to turn it off, and it went off with a kind of popping noise. I started it. Grey screen with the spinning wheel, no other response. I put in the install DVD (came with the new AlBook in January) and restarted with the C key down. Again, only the spinning wheel: No start up.
Finally, I unplugged the AlBook and took out the battery, and left it for half an hour while I went shopping. When I came back everything started normally and quickly.
One other point to note is that the last 3 or 4 start ups had been very slow, which is unusual.
In the following post is the Console log from when I opened the AlBook on arriving home.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Slow/Crash Safari 6.0 (7536.25) when using Console Log

    Hello,
I've updated my Safari just an hour ago (I'm on Lion).
Currently I'm using it for webdevelopment, but after the update I can't refresh pages anymore when the console log is open. This causes the browser to load very very slow until it does nothing.
When I close the Console Log the page loads again.
A collegue also has issues when Javascript has generated an error his browser just closes.
This is making webdeveloping a nightmare.
Is there any way to solve this issue or atleast revert back to a previous version that does work.
    Regard,
    Michael

  • Please Help!  Console Log Attached:

I've been having this problem since I purchased my machine in Oct 07. I've reinstalled my OS (10.4.11), and downloaded all of Apple's Updates. Once all of my software was updated, I proceeded to install Final Cut Studio 2. Let me begin by saying that, historically, my problem is related to any given application suddenly quitting. Additionally, I've purchased a new Hard Drive, and installed another copy of my OS without Final Cut Studio - which does not report any problems or errors according to the Console Log. However... The current startup disk I'm working with did, in fact, report Syndication Error 306 "BestCalendarDateInString"... Whatever that means... But... I deleted my "Database 3" File from user/library/syndication, and reinstalled Safari 3.1.2. I did this because my research in to the topic described the syndication error as being a potential problem in Safari collecting & updating RSS Feeds. After my Safari re-install, and several restarts, and disk permission repairs, all error messages from the Console Log disappeared. Which brings me to the present time... Which now, after installing Final Cut Studio 2, updating all software, and repairing disk permissions - I'm still getting (different now) error messages at startup - as reported by my Console Log:

    This worked for me:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=431587
I did have a Shared folder but may have added it manually or something, so I moved it to the desktop and pasted the codes into terminal (I then typed exit to get out of there)
    Good Luck!

  • Report on what time a computer crashes

I'm getting power failures on random days, always off office hours. I'm trying to find where I can get info on what time the computer crashed.
I have it hooked up to a UPS so it's long enough to let the battery drain, and it's only one corner in the office. Other corners seem to get power fluxes but never long enough to drain their UPS's. I was considering that it might be the UPS but there have been several different ones in this corner and all had the same problem once in a while, and figured it would have been happening all day long, not just when no one is here.
In talking to the electrician he said it would be helpful if I could get a crash repot and find out what time of the day it keeps happening, so I was thinking I could find that on my iMac somewhere. I've found the Console crash reports and the Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports logs but I'm not sure what I'm reading, seems to mostly be application crashes, not whole system crashes.
Any hints would be awesome! Thanks for the help.
    Amy

Open the Console application (/Applications/Utilities/Console).  IN the left hand column look in these places
for the crash log. You can also look in system log for the reboot and possibly the messages from the UPS (if you have it connected to the system) for when the power first went out.
If the UPS is connected to the system you can set the parameters for how to react to a power outage in System Preferences->Energy Saver; UPS. This way at least the system won;t crash.

  • Connected to an idle instance after computer crash

I was inserting rows as following
    begin
    for i in 1..10000000
    loop
    insert into test values(i, dbms_random.string('U',50), dbms_random.string('U',50), dbms_random.string('U',50), dbms_random.string('U',50), dbms_random.string('U',50));
    end loop;
    end;
/All of a sudden my computer crashed after an hour.
I did a reboot and I am not able to use my database anymore. What did happen and how to repair it?
I started database instance ORCL and it's listener and all I can see is:

  • Help needed diagnosing log-in, crashing problems

    Hi.
    Mac Pro (early 2008) 14GB RAM, 10.10.2
    Symptoms:
    - intermittent failing to log in to Guest account (seems to require password)
    - intermittent failing to log out of normal user account (just hangs)
    - intermittent app crashes, including simultaneous crash of Finder, Safari and Preview with no particular reason that I could think of
I installed new RAM a few weeks ago (additional 8GB) which seemed to work just fine after installation. After a week or so I upgraded to 10.10.2, and the symptoms have all happened since then. My first suspicion was faulty RAM.
Remembering the Apple Hardware Test, I held down the 'D' key when rebooting (and also option-D) both with and without the Install Disk 2 in the optical drive, but never got to the AHT, just Disk Utility. So I have not managed to run AHT. Looking for an alternative, I ran Memtest once from the Terminal before booting and overnight continuously (3 complete cycles) via Rember from within my usual user account. All results ok. I've repaired Disk Permissions multiple times, including both before and after upgrading to 10.10.2. When I do so, there's a message in there about something that won't be repaired, but I don't fully understand what.
Symptoms persisting. What do I try next? Should I try to run the AHT (if so, how?) or focus on something else? I've assumed faulty RAM is the most likely culprit but could it be something else? Any help much appreciated.
    Jason
