Suuport for farsi (persian) font in Oracle 9i forms

Hi
Does anyone know whether it is possible to use the farsi font with Oracle 9i forms?

Hi,
as far as i know. Jinitiator1.3.1.24 on WindowsXP(locale=Farsi) does support this with Forms 6i patch set 18 applied. I would assume that Forms 10.1.2 also supports it though I didn't test.

  • Farsi Persian fonts keyboard for iPad.

    Hi Everybody,
Does anybody know if Farsi or Persian language fonts keyboard can be use in iPad please?
I looked at the iPad's keyboard setting but the fonts are not included, I thought it may be available by another party.
    Thanks

You can ask Apple to add that here:

In the meantime, there are a couple keyboard apps which may be useful.  Go to the iTunes app store and search for Persian or Farsi

  • Persian font in MAC and WINDOWS.

    Hi
I am using persian font (X-series) on my mac and I haven't any problem with these fonts.
*:X series font are for pupular persian font like the B series.
When i want to save my power point with a type that windows can read/write it the X-series persian font are missing and all of my ducument has a bad clutter!!
I know that i can save my document as .PDF files but when I should do some changes on wndows office I need have good and famous persian fonts that are common between win and mac.
    thanks for your helps..........

If you want to open the Powerpoint file in Windows, you should also install those fonts at Windows machine too.
They won't show as nice as the Mac due to lack of text anti-aliasing on Windows, but they will work on Windows too.

Pl see this MOS Doc for the database characterset you need to use -
Does Oracle support the Farsi / Persian language (used in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, ....)? [ID 274108.1]
If you use the listed charactersets, the database will be able to store both English and Farsi content. It will be up to you (or some code) to provide the translations

  • Persian font

Our company ivolved in a big international project and needs to develop a
private software environment to support branches in south asia, middle east, middle asia...
The IT dept. has choosen java and oracle as base platform, but investigate
to select the building environment for java.
We tested jdevloper 9i trial version for developing UI based on japanees, thai, arabic and and we found it ok, But it can't support persian fonts for implementing
some components such as jbutton, jlabel with persian text.
In persian language some aditional alphabet such as "cheh","geh","ghah"..exist that
    not persent in arabic.
We tested jdevloper on MICROSOFT 2000 WINDOWS with persian support.
is any way to add this capability to jdeveloper? or we must choose a diffrent platform such as .net?

Does Sun JDK 1.3.1 supports persian fonts? Can you write a very
small application with a single button and make the persian fonts
    work for you?

    # Typically, a TTC font contains several fonts in one file. For example,
    # the TTC file, msgothic.ttc consists of three fonts in the order -
    # MS Gothic, MS PGothic and MS UI Gothic. To subset MS PGothic, the
    # entry in the PDF:Subset section of uifont.ali would be:
    # "MS PGothic" = "msgothic.ttc,1"
    # NOTES ON PRECEDENCE OF PDF SECTIONS:
    # If you have entries for a same font in many PDF sections, then Font
    # Aliasing entry will take precedence over Font Subsetting entry. Entries
    # in Font Subsetting will take precedence over the entries in Font Embedding
    # section.
    # Generic entries for a font must follow more specific entries for the same
    # font. For instance, if you want to subset helvetica Plain, helvetica Bold,
    # helvetica Italic and helvetica Bold-Italic fonts, your entries must be:
    # [ PDF:Subset ]
    # helvetica..Italic.Bold.. = "Arialbi.ttf"
    # helvetica...Bold.. = "Arialb.ttf"
    # helvetica..Italic... = "Ariali.ttf"
    # helvetica..... = "Arial.ttf"
    # If helvetica..... entry appears in the top of the list, all the styles of
    # helvetica font in the layout will be subset as helvetica Plain font.

  • How to Change Fonts in Oracle Reports

    Hi All,
When ever i am changing fonts in my report it reflects me when i run them on reports builder installed on my local machine.
But when i put them on application server, these changes are not reflected. I am generating PDF reports.
Can some body help me what should i need to do to reflect the font changes.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Kamal

    Hi Kamal,
Whether the font used in the report is installed in the machine where Apps server is installed? If not , use the feature ' PDF Aliasing' to substitue for that particular font.
For more information on this, have a look at the chapter "Managing Fonts in Oracle Reports" in Publishing Reports Manual. You can download it from http://download.oracle.com/docs/pdf/B14048_01.pdf.

  • Support of Farsi (Persian) keyboard/language on iOS devices!

    Hello,
I'm wondering when Apple is planning on supporting Farsi (Persian) characters on iOS devices? I am aware of Arabic keyboard that is available, but as you may or may not know, Farsi has 32 alphabet vs Arabic which has 28.
    Kind regards,
    -Shahin

While you are waiting for a Farsi keyboard from Apple, there are various Farsi keyboard apps in the app store which you may find useful for some purposes, e.g.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/persian-farsi-keyboard/id464732288?mt=8

  • HT2371 Farsi persian language

why there is no FARSI or Persian Keybord in the iPAD?  you really did not put anything there!!!!! three countries speak and write with this language, Kurdish people write with the same alphabet, you just ignore about 100 million people!!!
we can't use arabic keybord instead, as there is 4 letter missing in Arabic keybord compare with persian.

You are not talking to Apple here, just other users like yourself.  To tell Apple about new features you want, go to
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
If you search for Farsi in the app store, you will find some keyboard apps which may be useful for certain purposes.

  • Update tamil font in oracle

To update tamil font in oracle database
can anyone help me on this
    regards,
    rajesh

I am repeating: read the guide, at least the basic chapters. Then, ask questions. You mix basic terms. You do not configure fonts in a database, because a font is a set of glyphs representing characters drawn on a screen. The database is a data storage server. It has no GUI and it does not display anything. Only client tools and applications connecting to the database can display data. I do not know if you talk about the database character set for your database or real fonts for your operating system. These are very different things even if they are both needed for Tamil data to be processed correctly. Any Oracle database (at least since Oracle7.3) can be configured to store Tamil data by creating it with the Unicode character set. Use AL32UTF8 with the current versions (>=9.0).
Windows can display Tamil since Windows 2000. The font name Latha. You may need to add East Asian text support through Control Panel in Windows 2000/XP before displaying Tamil.
I am not sure how well Tamil is supported on Unix-like systems, including Linux, but I assume at least some applications can process it.

  • Is there a Farsi (persian) to english translator in any application?

Im flying to see my fiance in iran at the end of this summer, and my farsi is a little rusty. i downloaded a few translator apps but none of them have farsi.
i saw a english to farsi dictionary for windows pocket mobile, but i cant seem to find one for the iphone.
    any suggestions?

There is "iStudy:Farsi (persian) Vocabulary", "WordPower - Farsi" (also a lite version of that App), "Geneo Flashcards - Farsi" (also a lite version of that App) and "MyWords - Farsi"
There might be more there just the one's i know of otherwise just do a search on the App store for "Farsi" they should all pop up.

    Hello,
J would like to know if there are some differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform.
I know that there are some differences on Oracle 8i Parallel Server and i know that some products are not include like precompiler (Mod*Ada, Pro*FORTRAN) on a Linux Platform.
    Thank you.

We have installed Oracle 8i on Solaris 8 and it had a great performance, of course that the hardware and licence invested here was costed my the office where i work. Personaly i'd installed linux reh hat 8 and oracle 8i, imagine that, it could be implemented by any individual that has the time to do so.
By buyinng from a company that has a good background you could be sure that you will have support.
Bottom line, if you have the $ to buy great hardware go for a unix platform. But if you don't a Red Hat Linux Server Licence with a 1 year sopport and Oracle data base is about 3500Dls.
