SVG Tiny and J2ME?

Is there any support for SVG (tiny or basic) in the standard libs or are you forced to use 3:rd party libs (alternatevly creating your own)? Since I havn't found it I'm guessing that your stuck with third party libs or the diys-rule but quite new to j2me and i havnt quite got the hang of all the diferent apis provided. Anyway, would be greatfull if anyone could straighten my questionmarks.

I'm currently working with SVG and J2ME and I've seen many products...but I think that TinyLine is the most useful (if you are looking for something free).
There's also a jsr, "Scalable 2D Vector Graphics API for J2ME" (jsr 226)

SVG tiny GUI and touchscreen

Hi folks,
short question from a J2ME beginner. If i use a SVG tiny GUI for my J2ME application and i use a menu with some buttons, will it be possible to "click" on the buttons on a device with a touchscreen?
Or do i have to capture the event and look if it was inside the area of my button? In this case, i would use canvas, because there are more devices which support this than devices which support JSR 266.

I suppose you can't fix it. Different file formats support different kinds of graphics.

Svg Tiny problems

I have a few problems regarding saving my Illustrator CS5 graphics as SVG Tiny. First of all the gradient fills are rasterized, which is really annoying when designing scalable graphics for mobile use. I have bypassed this by expanding the gradient fill into paths, but that makes the individual file size quite big. Is there any way to save SVG Tiny files with gradients not rasterized?
Secondly there are some oddities when saving graphics as SVG Tiny, for example there can be odd rendering of the graphics, white 1px spaces appearing in the corner of the graphic or part of the graphic can be cut off in the final SVG Tiny document. Any ideas how to fix these?

Your best way of doing this is to optimize it for web and device using the Save for Web and Device and not save directly out of Illustrator with a Save As. You might not be able to see what that says but it gives you the option for svg and then the option to choose the various settings for such like tiny 1. or 1.2 etc. as well as other settings I would ask the client for their specs.

It could be a compatibility issue as well as Acrobat 8 is an older version.
Do you get any error message while registering for the product?
Try repairing it and once and also check for updates as well.
Is it happening with all the word files or any specific one'?

Some fonts have become tiny and pale blue

Example: When I view my online banking, my personal information is presented in a tiny font, which is also too pale to read, pale blue. When I am ordering something online, the fill-in boxes and what I type in them are tiny and pale blue. When I shopped on Drugstore.com, I had to read with a magnifying glass about their products. I have cleaned the registry and tried to find ways to adjust the font, but since not everything on the desktop is tiny and pale blue, I 've had no effect at all. Incoming email is fine, as is outgoing email. Word documents are fine.

Check the default font and color settings (screenshot: [[Some text shows up bold after upgrade]])

SVG chart and region on the same page

I would like to know if it's possible to create an svg chart and and only refresh a region in the same page.
If it's possible, where I can find how to do this.
If I call an other page my data is ok. But When I refresh the same page my data is not good.

Go to Dropdown web item properties and choose your report and use Before Command and use OPEN_CHART_DIALOG. You may try with After Command also.

Bluetooth communication between J2SE server and J2ME client

I try the solution in reply 6 but I don't understand exactly who to define kvem.home, and I got this error:

I want to find out how this can be done, too. I tried with
System.setProperty("kvem.home", "C:\\WTK2.5.2");but I get an error:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: com.sun.kvem.jsr082.impl.bluetooth.BluetoothController.setSystemProperty(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)I included these files in the build path:

XSQL SVG DEMO and Internet Explorer

Hi all,
I tried the XSQL SVG demos using IE 6.0 and every time I am asked to down load the file, instead of displaying the svg. The SVG out put is fine, which I tested by saving it with an .svg extension and then reopening it.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it so it just displays the SVG when I click on the link.

Hi All,
I have resolved the problem. It has to do with the media-type attribute in the xsl:output tag, which I thought, I just was not setting it correctly. Change it to image/svg+xml. Hence you should have the following in SalChart.xsl.
<xsl:output standalone="yes"
doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD SVG 20001102//EN"
doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/CR-SVG-20001102/DTD/svg-20001102.dtd"
media-type="image/svg+xml"/>

hi all,recently i want to plan a project that is about
i want to make a connection between javacard and j2me(on pda)
i.e. a j2me game can communicate with javacard..
but i don't know has any existed solution ??
at beginning i only want to make project in the simulation environment (pda simulatior<->javacard simulator) ,i hope u can give me any solution that can communicate between pda and javacard

AFAIK the j2me (the MIDP profile) does not support smartcard communication
i.e. a j2me gsm phone cannot communicate with the sim card inside
unless something has changed in this subject recently

WML and J2ME

I have a WML page and have a midlet.
Using the file connection API, i will request for the WML to my server.
My midlet will get the WML response.
But, the output of the WML should be reflected on my MIDLET, without the mobile browser.
Have anyone tried this. Please help me out.

WML and J2ME are not directly related.
1) If you want to download a WML page in your midlet you will need to use a HTTP connection. The downloaded WML markup can be displayed or processed in your midlet. To render the WML, you will need to write a parser and the rendering components.
If you need to extract information from the WML document, I would suggest not using WML at all and starting with an XML document, tailored for your use.
If you do not need to extract information from the WML document, consider using a PlatformRequest to launch the browser and render the WML document.
2) You can host and create WML page similar to the methods you would use to create and host a HTML page. There are tools to help you author the pages, and emulators to help test your pages.
I would suggest starting with one of the phone manufacturers developer groups, i.e. sony ericsson or Nokia. You can find support and tools on their sites.

JAR files and J2ME

Just starting a J2ME project.
An embarrassingly Noobie Question:
1) All the classes that are supposedly "built-in" to my device (phone)
do NOT need to be included in the deployed JAR file, right?
2) Anyone know how to do that in Netbeans 5.0?
Project -> Properties -> Build shows sources filtering
but that doesn't include anything from my "input"/library .JARS.
However, all the com.*, javax.* and java.* files are being included in
my output JAR file and it causes failures in preverify and loading
on the phone.

MySQL and J2ME

Hello.
I'm building an application for mobile phones that should get data from an mySQL database.
I would like to know what's the simplest way to do this. The database will be very small. Can I do this directly, doing a query to the database or I have to use PHP or some kind of servlet?
In case of servlets, do they need to be installed on the server or they're just those JSP files?

Let me try again. Your question is not specific to J2ME. Do you understand that?
So you can do it one of two ways.
1) Just a normal web page created with whatever. There is no need for a code sample for this. There are many, many examples and tutorials available.
2) Create a webservice and access it like that.
I posted the link to Wikipedia because I wanted YOU to read it and then come back and say if you want a webservice or not. If you don't know what a webservice is than that link explains it.
