SVGs From CorelDraw Not Rendering Text

Has anybody found a solution for why FrameMaker refuses to render text from CorelDraw SVG images? Doing a Google Search, I stumbled onto some discussions from 2007 where others also saw this behavior, but no solution.
The SVG images display properly in every other tools I've tried in Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, there's just something broken in the way FrameMaker's graphic import tool sees and brings them in. Adobe's now defunct SVG Viewer also renders the images properly which leads me to believe that there is just something broken in the way that FrameMaker (version 8-10 tested) are importing these images.
Anybody else seen this, or have a solution on how to fix this?

What Frame version?
I don't have a fix, but if the goal is to preserve the vector content (and the text), a work-around would be to save as PDF from Corel. Import the PDF.
If Coral can't save as PDF (or print to PDF), open the SVG in an app that can, such as Adobe Illustrator, and save as PDF.
If your Frame version is 7.2 or lower, save as EPS and not PDF. I don't know if Corel can do that. Illustrator can, and Acrobat Pro can re-save PDFs as EPS.
If you really want to see Frame wreck an SVG, save as XML from Frame.

PE7 - stop video from running after rendering text titles

Hi gang,
When I add manual "sub-titles" aka text titles to my videos, it works best when I render them as I'm going along with the ENTER key. That's fine but the video then wants to KEEP start playing from the start and that's driving me bananas. Can I turn this off?

Indeed, I would never want the video to playback automatically after rendering.
In PE7, it was exactly where you mentioned.
BTW - rearranging menus is part of the neverending game, that drives us all constant upgraders completey bonkers!!! Just like how AVI export dissappeared and reappeared into SHARE in PE 7. What a nomad! hehe

Twitter & Tumblr not rendering text correctly.

Have tried the usual trouble shooting. When changing the page style to 'No Style' - the text displays.
Manually disabling all addons and plugins doesn't fix the issue however when using Firefox in safemode, the text appears fine.
Changing the character encoding does not alleviate the issue.
Running windows 7 x64 with all the latest updates and the latest firefox.
Chrome displays twitter and tumblr fine.
Using the default FF theme.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

Invoke-WebRequest - Unable to get rendered text

This issue exists in powershell but I suspect this issue will exist no matter what language is used.
The problem is the rendered web page has chat text.
However no matter what I do in powershell I can't get to this text.
If I do a "view source" in IE or Chrome the text is missing, if I pipe the parsedhtml to a file, it is missing,
So below you can see the original screen and F12 debug says the text lives inside "rooms-view-right-pane"
Visibly you can see it, programmatically you cant see it

Well for what it's worth, you can have what is below. I ain't proud of it - it's pretty dodgy, but in this example it retrieves points for a profile. The number of points does not appear in the source, only in the generated source.
It would be easy to keep it checking the page and comparing the new value for the points with the old...
Like I said, there has to be a better way.

Styles Not Rendered

I have some page templates that do not use an external style
sheet and in DW pages made from those templates are not rendered as
they are in the template. Those same pages are rendered properly
when they are loaded into Internet Explorer.
Summary
Style declared inside template.
Template renders properly in DW.
Page from template not rendered properly in DW. (and page
updated)
Page from template renders properly in Internet Explorer.
Does anyone know of any reason why this would happen?

Trying to OCR pdf, pdf says it can't perform bc it already contains renderable text-but does not.

I work for a large agency, and we receive PDF's all the time. 98% of the time I am able to OCR a document with no issues. Just recently I have come across this issue several times, and was wondering if anyone can solve this irritating problem!
*Acrobat 8.1 - When going to OCR the document, I receive the following message " Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because this page already contains renderable text. However, it does not. When you go to select text or search for anything the whole page is selected (like it's still in a "picture" format, not a document format that you can search, ect.)
I am not sure if it is how the document is uploaded originally by the other party that causes this, but the only thing I can do as a work-around - is to print out the entire document, scan and then I can OCR the document just fine! The problem is, if the document is 400 pages or so, this can be a huge waste of time, and money just to be able to search the PDF.
*I have also checked the pdf properties to see if this is some sort of permissions issue, and there are not permissions/security settings in place.*
PLEASE HELP! Any assistance in this matter would save me a lot of time, and of course (my sanity!).

While the alert speaks to "renderable text" that is a simplification. The issue is that you've PDF page content consisting of at least one renderable "character".
Look at font families - you will observe that there are many characters that are not "text" characters (i.e., linguistic characters).
So, there's a "renderable character" present. It may be an alpha numeric that has a font color the same as the page background. It may be under the image and thus not visible to the eye.
You might be able to determine just what is present.
You could export the page of interest to a text file then view that file.
You could deplay the page of interest in Acrobat Pro then select the "Content panel" to view the content tree.
Locate and click on the page number for the page of interest.
From the Content panel's Options menu select "Highlight Content".
Walk down the tree. Select the content containers in turn and observe what is highlighted on the PDF page.
Where might the renderable character come from ? Typically that'd be associated with something in the work flow.
Not always easy to find so don't take anything in the work flow for granted.

Keep getting "renderable text" error when I need to OCR PDF's from FrameMaker.

My solution has been to individually extract all those pages, then open them up in Photoshop, flatten them and
widen the canvas size to standard 8.5 x 11.
But that's a little tedious and time-consuming and you have to delete the original page from your document, after
importing the OCR-friendly page.
Is there a printer definition, or something you can set up when you're generating your PDF's in the first place,
that will get rid of that annoying "renderable text" error?

I don’t know how it happens but after I save my work in FrameMaker or MS Word, and print
to PDF for the final output, there are often pages with text in them that isn’t recognizable,
or that can’t be found with a CTRL+F search.
That is a serious issue, and one we might be able to help you with, but really, quite separate from the issue here. It's too late to try and fix this once it is a PDF.
What is it that’s lost when OCR is run?
Quality. Small file size. Tags (which might be required legally). Almost everything except the basic text, and that might also be lost given that OCR is not guaranteed to work. This is NOT the right way to solve your problem.
The translator doesn’t have any Adobe products except Reader, so I’m limited to Acrobat
to show her how the words and pictures are laid out on a page.
In order for her to copy and paste that text – or search it, to find all of the places where the
same word might be used – I need to make sure every word is there for her to grab.
I have heard of translators trying to work with PDFs, and few that succeed. You can reasonably expect a transation service to support FrameMaker. But if they don't I recommend you extract the text from FrameMaker to a simple Word or text file. They should be fine using the PDF as a visual reference, and having the text to translate, and for you to flow back into the original layout. (Again, something I'd expect a full service translation to do themselves, but there are advantages to keeping control too).
Those were the 2 pages that gave the ‘renderable text’ error. Don’t ask me why or how, they
look like all the other pages in that document. Except Acrobat thinks they’re scanned graphics,
that’s how they present when you wave the cursor around in them, hunting for text.
Renderable text is just text. It means that somewhere on that page there is text. Surely there is layout, page numbers, whatever from FrameMaker on the pages. If not, we really need to look at your production methods - back to the first point.

Generating PDF from a C program. How do I get dimensions of rendered text?

I am generating a PDF file from withing a C program I am developing and I am running into trouble measuring the dimensions of arbitrary text string when rendered on the page. Even if I had widths of individual glyphs in the font I am using, I would still run into trouble considering ligatures. My questions are the following:
When I generate a PDF file, I have to provide the /Widths array dictionary entry for the font I use. How do I get these values? Is it possible to get them out of the font file (OTF/Type-1) easily?
If I do have the widths of individual glyphs and the ascent/descent values for the whole font, I still need ascent/descent for individual glyphs so that I can typeset things perfectly. How about these? Can they be read from the formats mentioned above?
What confuses me is this. A PDF writer (be it Microsoft Word) knows the font it is using to write text, obviously. When it saves the document as PDF, does it really inspect the font to dig out the glyph sizes?
I do not use any libraries whatsoever, I am generating the whole file and its PostScript streams "by hand".

1. Yes, you need to provide Widths and they MUST be right (a conflict with the font values is bad news). It depends what you mean by "easy". It's possible to parse each different font type, but hard work, at least for the format I understand (type 1). If the font is installed in the system you can use the OS to return font metric information for most things. StemV/StemH are a particular challenge as the values are not in type 1 fonts.
It is tough enough for type 1 fonts that the AFM format was invented to provide font information in simple text format, and there should be an AFM for every type 1 font. Be sure to retrieve metric information at a very large size to avoid rounding issues. If you are working with the base fonts only it's easy enough to generate a table for them.
Ligatures should be no issue at all. A ligature is a single glyph with its own metrics. You either use the individual characters (so ligatures are irrelevant) or you replace groups with a ligature (at which point it becomes a single glyph to manage). There is no automatic conversion of ligatures.
2. This would be in the font, but it would be most unusual to make use of individual glyph's ascent/descent in typesetting layout calculations, as I understand it. The important things are
(a) use font ascent/descent over the whole line for all fonts and sizes used to ensure there is enough room for characters
(b) set each glyph on the same baseline
What do you see yourself as doing with the glyph ascent/descent?
If an application generates PDF, then it really must do this stuff. Word knows all this anyway, because it needs to do the calculations to place text on screen.
Please do not try to generate PDFs entirely by hand. Many people try, but nobody manages to get stream length and xref entries right. You cannot rely on PDF readers to repair. Please write your own software to generate these things. PDF is not a text format, even though it has a lot of text in it.

JavaHelp not rendering HTML when run from Fatjar

I'm experiencing a strange problem with JavaHelp: when I run my app from Eclipse and open JavaHelp, the html help pages render just fine. If I Fatjar the app and run it from the fatjar, however, then when I open the JavaHelp, my html help pages are displayed as raw text, HTML tags and all. For some reason it's not rendering the HTML. I'm guessing that maybe the fatjar is messing up the JEditorPane's ability to detect the content-type of the help pages, but I have no idea how to fix it if that's the case.
I'm using a plain vanilla HelpSet file, pretty much straight out of the JavaHelp User's Guide.
Anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how I might fix it/work around it? Has anyone else seen this problem before?

I have followed all the steps to fix this problem, but I do not receive texts on my new Galaxy 4 from iPhone users. I tried everything I was told and found in these forums. Still no luck.

I switched to Verizon in March 2014, from AT&T. I traded in my old iPhone4 for a Galaxy 4. Ever since, I am not getting text messages from anyone who has an iPhone unless they WORK for Verizon. I have deleted my phone from my apple profile and I don't own any other apple products. I switched to an Android because I was tired of Apple's proprietary ways. It seems not matter what I do, and I have done EVERYTHING suggested here on these forums. No luck. I am so frustrated. I have a very large family and almost everyone else has an iPhone. Even if they don't, I am not getting all their messages. I like the new Galaxy, but believe I have made a huge mistake switching carriers and phones, even though I hate Apple products.

LG Revolution not receiving text messages from iphone user

I am not receiving text messages from iphone user, sporatically. The messages are showing as reveived on Verizon website in usage detail, but not being received on my phone.

This issue needs fixed asap! I have a few suggestions that should help you get this resolved. If they are showing up in the usage details, that means they are hitting the Verizon network, but for some reason they are not showing up on the phone. I recommend clearing the cache from your messaging/text messaging programs. Go to settings> applications> manage apps> all> Messaging/Text Messaging> Force Stop/Clear Cache/Clear Data. Erase the old text threads that you have saved and retry.
If that doesn't work, please let us know the following:
1) Do they come in delayed or not at all?
2) Do you have any 3rd party messaging apps installed?
3) Do they have any problems receiving messages from you?
4) When they're sending messages, are they directly to you, or do you have this problem when the iPhone user sends to a group of people?

Inserting new row in Table in 11.1.2 from 11.1.1.3 not rendering table!!!!!

Hey Guys, my status might say noob but i am well seasoned in ADF. We migrated from 11.1.1.3 to the new JDEV 11.1.2. We are doing a test run before we commit to it.
I noticed the following:
We have master detail forms that work flawlessly in 11.1.1.3 when we ran the app under 11.1.2 we noticed that any time you try to add a new row to a table the table does not render. The server logs show the action going through and the count goes up one but the table is not rendered anymore it disappears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now all of this was imported from the 11.1.1.3. all of our tables that have createInsert actions on them are doing this.
If i drag the tables again and set them up from scratch it seems to work fine. Our issue is we have a good 300 of these tables in different panels and panel collections. we have to do all of that work all over again.
No errors show in the log. IS THIS A BUG???????????????
UPDATE: REFRESHING THE PAGE using the Browser Refresh Button Will show the new ROW....... THIS IS NOT GOOOD!!!

The Project was in version 11.1.3 before I migrated. I had the issue above so I migrated to 11.1.1.4 then to 11.1.1.5 then to the New GREAT 11.1.2 to go by the matrix of support The issue is still there.
Basic Page layout:
SEARCH-MASTER-PANELTABBED LAYOUT (Hold all the CHILDREN RECORDS)
PANEL TAB is made of ; SHOW DETAIL ITEM- PANEL COLLECTION- TABLE.
the panel collection has a toolbar with 2 buttons in it.
My issue varies:
Hit create insert==> record count goes up one but the table does not render (it goes all blank even if records existed in it)
Hit undo budo ==>table still not rendering. (click next on master record then click previous to come back, the table renders correctly.)
other tables do the following:
Hit Create insert == > table shows normally and I can enter new record.
Hit undo ==> table count goes down but table does not render at all anymore.
for this issue i noticed if i set cache results to false the table works after hitting undo
IF I CREATE A NEW SHOW DETAIL ITEM and put exactly what the other tabs have in them and use the same layouts and buttons the new table works great!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????? WTF?!?!?!?!
NO ERROR MESSAGES even at finest level are thrown.
I HAD NO ISSUES IN THE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF JDEV IS THIS A JSF 2.0 BUG????
BY THE WAY JDEV 11.1.2 sometimes CRASHES or Hangs when viewing the Binding of Page when you click on Binding straight from the Design view. I have to open the Binding Page separate to view it. FYI

Recently started not receiving texts from one person - AT&T user, also HTC One

I recently started not receiving texts from one person. He also has an HTC One (older model) but has AT&T as his provider. We were texting back and forth last Friday morning (11/8) and then he called me and ever since then I have not received a single text he has sent. He is receiving all of mine and we can receive phone calls back and forth, but his text messages are not coming through. We have both tried restarting our phones and I have also tried deleting him as a contact and recreating it however nothing works. I checked to make sure he was not blocked (which I knew wasn't the case since I could receive phone calls from him as well), and even tried turning the "block contact" on and back off. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Right now we are using work arounds with google-talk and facebook messenger but it's very frustrated for me to not receive any of the texts that his phone is saying I am receiving.
It had started sporadically over the past few weeks where I would miss a text from him every once in awhile, but now I am receiving nothing. He is the only one that I am having this issue with as I have texted back and forth with multiple others the past few days with no issues.

Hi! I'm also having the same problem. I have an iphone 5 & one person (who also has an iphone 5 but has AT&T as a provider). We had been able to send & receive phone calls & texts until mid-November. Now, we can both give & receive phone calls from each other and she receives my texts, however, I DON"T receive hers. In fact, if I'm in a group text message with her, I don't receive any of the texts that include her, even though I can give/receive texts individually from the others in the group message. The other two in the group message CAN receive both her texts & mine. This is so strange - I was left out of a whole thread of text messages & none of us knew it. They thought they were including me (nothing bounced back) & I didn't know I wasn't receiving them. Since her texting works with both of the others, I'm concluding the problem must be with my phone. Do I have an incorrect setting? I'm not sure what could have happened. PLEASE help!
