You need 802.11 N hardware to be able to receive those kinds of speeds, as well as the broadband service. I do not think the G5s support wireless N...

You will need to replace the modules you now have with one 2 and one 1 GB module or two 2 GB modules.
You cannot install anything higher than 10.75 Lion as your model is not able to run anything higher.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. Again, Apple does not themselves take trade-ins. They will recycle old iPods in an Apple Store and give you 10% off of the price of a new one, but that does not apply to iPads (and you'd be insane to take only 10% for any working iPad). Yes, absolutely, you can still use the old ID to update, etc., but I understood the OP to want to simply discard the old one and use only the new one. Maybe I misunderstood...
And, actually just now re-reading the first post, it could be that the ID had only been associated with the iDevices, so if he established a new ID and associated that with the new MBP, I frankly have no idea if he can still use the old ID on that machine (based on him saying that the old ID is greyed out) - have not come up with this type of situation before.

thanks, a HUGE suggestion for you: Please add that to the restrictions of the trade-in details online, it mentions that nowhere and is VERY deceptive. The cables can be found most anywhere. For cables and adapters I always recommend searching www.monoprice.com first. They have high quality cables for very good prices. As an example search for TOSLINK at their site to find optical cables and related components. It's where I got mine.

On the mac's system preferences: click the iCloud icon, then "sign out" button. After, you can enter the new ID.
