Does Mail auto correct spelling errors and typos?

I figured out how to get Mail to check my spelling & highlight errors as I go. But is there a way to get it to fix it my typos?
I have been using Entourage for a long time and finally decided to make the switch to Mail. One feature that Entourage had is that is fixes my typos as I type (such as capitalizing "I"). I've gotten pretty used to this and find it frustrating to have to go back all the time.

now, how can we make the apple wallahs to include the auto correct feature. i myself would like to go for years from Entourage to Mail. but being hooked to auto correct i cannot. auto correct makes my writing so much faster and easier.
could that be a real problem for them? has 'youknowwho' a patent on it?

You can find the correct spelling in the Apple dictionary. Just add the correct spelling & delete the error.

So does anyone know why I m getting the following error when the definition of "GeneralFault" is in the .wsdl file? According to the error messge, it sounds like I have to define it in a .xsd file.
Error ORABPEL-10902: compilation failed
Description: in "bpel.xml", XML parsing failed because "undefined part element.
In WSDL at "file:/D:/projects/MyBPEL/bpel/MySvc-v1.wsdl", message part element "{http://www.company.com/wsdl/MySvc-v1.0}GeneralFault" is not defined in any of the schemas.
Please make sure the spelling of the element QName is correct and the WSDL import is complete

Since upgrading to Mavericks, some spelling errors are no longer corrected

I almost always transpose the word "the" to hte and teh when I type. Spell checker in Pages picks it up and corrects it but not in Mail, only since upgrading to Mavericks a couple weeks ago. I went in to my Library folder and found a Custom dictionary, an "en" dictionary, and a LocalDictionary, all text files with words that I had added over the years. I thought if Mail's spell checker wasn't finding hte and teh, that I must have somehow added them to one of the dictionaries. But neither word appeared any of the three dictionaries. If it did, I would have deleted them. Is there another dictionary in Mavericks that I am missing?
This seems odd since it started only after upgrading to Mavericks. And I have both misspellings included in "Correct spelling automatically" in Language & Region Preferences > Keyboard Preferences > Text > Replace __ With __. I even tried to remove them and then add them back in but it made no difference.

Hello. I too have a Mail spelling issue since Mavericks. My mail has never made any automatic corrections - only suggestions - and I am not sure how to get that going. Anyhow, these days when the speller doesn't recognise a word and I go in and add an accent to that word (alt+e+e), it infuriatingly sends the message immediately without continuing the spellceheck. Any ideas gratefully received.

Region spelling error on iCloud Pages docs - on ML

I have my systems set up for British English. Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and latest versions of iWork for OSX and ios.
Documents created in pages on ipad synch ok to mac, but UK spelling is flagged as mispelt - changing this to US version results in spelling error flag being removed.
The document shows ok on the iPad in Pages and for example, typing color on the iPad is flagged as incorrect and colour as correct.
If I create a new doc in pages on the iPad then this problem appears again on the mac. It seems to have set the document flag as US rather than UK - during the icloud transfer from ipad to mac - thereafter, any new words typed in are checked as mispelt if UK spelling when typing on to the doc on the mac
If I create a new doc on the mac, then synch to the ipad via icloud is fine in both directions
The icloud synch works fine (as far as I can see) on keynote and numbers.
Any ideas?

Are both devices using the same iCloud account, is document and data syncing turned on on each.
Does other content sync OK, do you see your documents at iCloud.com.

How can I eliminate phantom spelling errors?

I use Word for several hours every day and I push the limits a little with Dragon speech recognition software, extensive use
of Word macros, and daily use of Review, Compare, Compare. Perhaps at least once a day I look in the document and see that “phantom” spelling errors have arisen. For example, I’m looking at a page presently in which the letters “andard” in the word “standard”
are underlined with the red wavy line. Similarly the “ic” in the word “quadratic” is underlined with the red wavy line, and the “erived” in the word “derived” is also underlined with the line.
I can make these red wavy lines disappear by simply pressing F7 to check the spelling, which (assuming there are no “real” spelling errors in the document) causes them to disappear and I get the message “The spelling check is complete.”.
The red wavy lines are distracting. Is there a way that I can make them permanently go away (without turning off automatic spell-checking)?

Or, perhaps, you could alert the folks who produce Dragon Naturally Speaking since it seems to be a problem caused by their software? I believe that is Nuance.
BTW, I stopped using DNS a while back because I type faster than it would accept dictation and with fewer errors.
Thank you. That's a useful suggestion. However, I expect that the MS Word developers are very careful about preventing external programs from messing up Word (because Word gets blamed when this happens). So there should be no way that a bug in
Dragon Naturally Speaking (DNS) could cause phantom spelling errors in Word. Or if there is a way, then the Word developers should make changes to Word so that this can no longer happen. (I expect that the interface that Word exposes to other applications
is very carefully designed so that if the external applications do "bad" things, they can't cause Word to misbehave. (They shouldn't even be able to "hang" Word, although DNS sometimes does that because it appears to be thrashing.
But the problem goes away if I wait or if I kill DNS.)
Sorry to hear that DNS was too slow and error prone for you. For me, if I enunciate clearly and speak in longer phrases, and use an approved microphone, a 10-or-15 word sentence is correctly typed as soon as I've finished saying it. And talking
is much easier than typing, even though I've been touch typing for more than 40 years.
You do need a sufficiently modern CPU to use DNS because it's highly CPU-intensive. They recommend a modern processor with 2 MB L2 cache.

1) Using all capital letters may be interpreted as shouting which may be keeping forum readers from answering your posts.
2) Spelling out words in full is also highly appreciated.
3) This forum provides means to highlight code as such using an icon on top of your post message editor.
4) A little more information concerning the exception occured is usually helpful.
As a first blind guess, I would suggest you wrap the username into single quotes changing

String que="delete from logintable where usrname='siva'";which also gets rid of the obsolete "new String(...)" statement.

Mail won't correct spelling

This question may have been posted before but I can find no trace of it. In Mail>Edit>Spelling and Grammer the Correct Spelling Automatically is greyed. The wretched app carefully points out spelling errors but will not correct them.
Am I missing something here?

Yes, I have those selections checked in Mail>Prefereces>Composing.
It seems to have nothing to do with Mail>Edit>Spelling and Grammer. The Automatically Correct Spelling is always greyed.
I've been putting up with this flaw in Mail for a few years, but my irritation with it hit some kind of a limit and I am now trying to find, if not a solution to the problem, at least a reason for it.
All I can tell you, again, is that the Mail>Spelling and Grammer>CORRECT SPELLING AUTOMATICALLY is greyed. (sorry about the capitals but I am still searching out how to add emphasis to what I write.)
It seems strange that I am the only Mac user to have this problem, but my search of Discussions found no one else who else who either experience it or cared to complain about it.
Thanks for being intested in my small problem. I am eager to see if you have found the source - not to mention the cure, for it.

When opening iTunes on my new Windows 7 PC I continue to get the same messages, 'The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing' and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (Windows error 126)' I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times to no avail, even tried it on a different user account and still nothing. I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

It's possible that the Troubleshooter doesn't work correctly unless IE is your default browser. You could test that possibility by having IE make itself the default and testing the Troubleshooter again.

deploying it from my LTH. Then I have installed the whole NI enviroment for PXI and VeriStand use on a
industrial PC (iPC). I have tried to deploy my VSP from the iPC to the PXI but the following error
message arose on my iPC:

The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are
almost the same. The only differences are:
1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.
3. NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.3.5; something strage on the LTH, because normally I am using NI-DAQmx 9.5.5 and all other DAQmx products on my LTH are 9.5.5. That means NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5.. On the iPC side all three products are 9.5.5.. That means NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.5.5, NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5..
4. Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4; The iPC has this SW installed. On the LTH this SW is missing.
In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
What can I do to fix this problem?

There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)

Hi Lukas,
I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.

You have permissions issues on the respective folders, e.g. Windows\System32\Color and so on. Fix them and allow all apps to access the contents.

I know this doesn't help you Bud, but I've had this issue for at least the last couple of versions. If I can ask, what is you enviornment like? Local PC only, libray saved on another PC/Server?
In my case my library is on Windows 2003 server with the share mapped to drive M: This has worked for many years through both XP and Windows 7 until and update a while ago.
