Hey guys,
Not meaning to double-post or anything but I figured you might be interested in this.
I was reading the other threads seeing if I could lend a hand and noticed a link to "kX" drivers. So I said "What the heck, it's not like mine are working anyway." Sure enough, the kX drivers gave me sound. Upon reboot, I heard that oh-so-familiar Windows boot-up sound. Then BAM BLUE SCREEN YOUR COMPUTER IS SCREWED! Automatic reboot.
CHKDSK opens and recovers all of my vital windows files, the logon sound plays, and viola- I have sound.
So perhaps Creative would be interested in hiring some of these guys?

  • My very expensive 2010 MacBook Pro hard drive died over a year ago (never bothered to fix it as the dvd drive had also failed so not worth it).   Nevertheless, I finally decided to sync my iPhone to the replacement laptop pc and it wiped out all the music

My very expensive 2010 MacBook Pro hard drive died over a year ago. I finally synced my iPhone to the replacement laptop pc and it wiped out all the music on the phone including most of the purchases. Can I get the music back (restore didn't help)?

Okay, I finally got the couple of songs left on the phone to play by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes on the pc and re syncing. The last version I installed (just prior to my original post) failed to start due to some unspecified error?!?. Great!. But I still couldn't sync the itunes purchases from the PC to the iPhone. Then, after about an hour of googling and reading assorted posts mostly about using google to resolve the issue, I finally figured out that I have to actually download ALL the purchased albums from iCloud back onto the iPhone! There are hundreds of them, and some are not even available anymore.
Why do I have to do that when I originally purchased and downloaded all the music to the phone? Why are they all on the PC to begin with and why won't they go to the phone via the USB cable? Why didn't all the music get wiped out on the phone when I synced with the dodgy itunes I had to uninstall. never mind.
I accept that all my original music from cds and shared collections is gone on the failed mbp hard drive, but how come this once okay experience has become a trauma? Hundreds of songs to download all over again, sheesh, this has not exactlybeen a "That Was Easy" experience guys.

  • What is IS NULL doing in replacing NOT EXISTS operator with an outer join?

    DB version:10gR2
    An example from searchoracle.target.com
The query which contains a NOT EXISTS operator
    SELECT M.ModulId, M.Modul FROM MODULE M
    WHERE NOT EXISTS
    ( SELECT PROJEKTMODUL.IdModul
      FROM PROJEKTMODUL
      WHERE M.ModulId = PROJEKTMODUL.IdModul
AND PROJEKTMODUL.IdProjekt = 23 )is replaced by an equivalent outer join query
    select distinct
           M.ModulId
         , M.Modul
      from MODULE M
    left outer
      join PROJEKTMODUL
        on M.ModulId = PROJEKTMODUL.IdModul
       and PROJEKTMODUL.IdProjekt = 23
where PROJEKTMODUL.IdProjekt is nullI don't understand what
PROJEKTMODUL.IdProjekt is nullis doing in the above rewritten query.

It is to perform an Anti-Join. As far as I know Oracle (starting with release 10g - I thought Release 1) rewrites your NOT EXISTS and NOT IN query to a Anti Join which looks like your second query.
Look at the results of the query without the IS NULL predicate and see which records (from that set) should be selected to show the same results as the first query. The records of interest match the predicate IS NULL.

  • Macbook a1181 display blanks out replaced the lcd inverter still blanking out

    Replaced inverter still blanking out.

OK--so this is an original MBP. You are in the late 2008-early 2009 section of the forum, so I am going to request that your post be relocated to the original MBP section.
Have you tried an external display? If you get good graphics on an external, it will be further conformation that the graphics chip is OK.
I am puzzled as to why the original display worked, but two separate replacements did not. I have heard of the brightness indicator getting stuck all the way to the left, so that the display remains black. Can you see the desktop at all by shining a bright light through the apple? If so, maybe you could go to System preferences>Desktop and see if the slider is stuck, and if so, move it to the right.
    Good luck!

  • Does Creative sell replacement power supply / ac adaptors for out of warrenty produc

The part I need is the external power supply / ac adaptor. It's rated 3.5 V at 5Am
    ps.
I checked every other possibility in the setup of my system and came to the conclusion that the power supply has died. I confirmed this by using a OHM-Meter which showed no power flowing through the device.
The device has a model number on it
    Model: UA-450
If anyone knows if/where I can get a replacement part.
I emailed Customer service but have yet to receive any reply.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Thanks for your note.. I am still not getting any display or Target firewire startup after
several days of off and on attempts to try every variation of reset, pram/nvram reset et.al because i hoped to have one shot at re-booting it to avoid sending it out for repair with data on the hard drive.
I've tried with and w/o battery in... (fully charged). I'm able to get through the PMU using shift-fn-ctrl-power keyboard combo but on subsequent attempts to restart,
power button with T or even power button alone, there is no power-on at all but a few times I've been able to get the PMU reset and before I go to manually restart it, it restarts (chime) itself, however the only thing indicating it is on is that the caps lock key lights and i can hear (listening with my ear to the thing that it's "on..." yet the drive never gets spinning - If there's any other idea to trick this thing into a Target FW startup or other means of accessing the HD to remove certain data i'm still hoping to get this one fixed (esp. if it is only the cost of a Logic Board replacement.
What is really curious is that a few times it has gone to a PMU reset (with the single beep) even when i have just tried to startup with the power-button alone....and then, as i say, restarted (well, powered on..but nothing else...no display, no drive recognition presumably...)

  • "Replace with After Effects Composition" greyed out using CC - WHY??

    Hi All,
I am doing a project in Premiere Pro CC but need to dynamic link to After Effects CC.  The "replace with After Effects Composition" button is greyed out and I can't understand why, both are installed!
I still have Premiere Pro CS6 and AE CS6 installed, because they contain plug-ins I use regularly, could this be causing an issue? I can't think why it would.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Rick

    Hi,
    Please navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0 and rename 1.0 as old1.0 and also C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver\7.0 and rename it as old7.0.
Reset the preferences of After effects and Premiere pro from :
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects and rename 12.0 and 12.1 as old12.0 and old12.1. In the same location C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro and rename 7.0 as old7.0.
Restart the machine after these steps and then try to use dynamic link

just wanted to replace a string in my RH Project. Using the Dialog "search and replace in files", the Option "ignore HTML-Tags" is grayed out.
Even if i create a new, empty Project: the same Problem.
Is this Option generally not available in RH11 or what is the Trigger to gray the Option out?
Sorry if I dont hit the English terminology used in RH, I'm using the German Version...

Hi Julian. This sounds like you have the Advanced options displayed. try going back to the Basic options by clicking the double arrow icon in the top right hand corner:

    Hi,
Apple does not have an iPhone replacement service, but they do have display repair service. So you may arrange the display repair for $149,99, send them your iPhone, and they will send make a like for like change. You may receive:
-the best case - the new iPhone 2G, (of course not retail box, no charger or other accesories, you will receive just phone sealed in tape, in a small white box).
    - the worst case - the new iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4 (the same no retail box, etc.).
If you are lucky, you will receive the iPhone 2G which is more than $500 worth on eBay.
    Regards,
    Oleg.

  • Will Apple replace my product even if its out of warranty?

Ok, so I'm thinking about getting a MacBook Air 11.6" and (although I'm VERY careful with my electronics), I have bad luck and something always seems to go wrong. I was just looking and people were saying that as long as you take it to an apple store and prove to them that it's legitimately broken, they will fix/repare it, even if it's out of warranty. Is this true?

    Generally not.
Like any manufacturer, if Apple has a "run" of a particular problem, they may extend the warranty on that component.
Sometimes if a problem occurs shortly after the warranty runs out, they'll cover part or all of a repair.
All Macs come with a one-year warranty, but you can purchase AppleCare to extend it to 3 years. Most extended warranties aren't worth it, but this one is. Note that it does not cover theft or things like liquid spillage. You can get it direct from Apple, but sometimes at a discount from resellers. See http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/applecare for details.

  • Problem installing Mac OSX on my new MacBook hard drive...

    Hi,
i am beside myself again...(i just visited my local Genius bar this afternoon). Any help would be most appreciated! :o)
i purchased a 2.5 inch SATA Fujitsu 120GB laptop hard drive for my new MacBook. Followed the awesome* instructions on "how to replace/upgrade hard drive", and took out the original Toshiba HD. What the instructions* failed to mention was that i would eventually need to use a Torx screwdriver (star-shaped) to remove the caddy/carriage from the Toshiba HD. Got that the next day and replaced the Toshiba 80GB with my new 120GB Fujitsu drive..., it slipped into place nicely but i did notice that the Toshiba had four short wires protruding out to the right of the contacts, which my new Fujitsu didn't have... hmmmm...?!
anyways, tried to install Mac OSX on the new drive, booted up with the install disc... went thru' chosing the language (English), agreed to the second step... but when it came time to install, there was NO icon at all in the box where i am asked where i want to install it!!!
so i go to disk utilities, and see that my Fujitsu HD is indeed recognized, but none of the buttons in first aid are active... so i can't check it.
i figured that had to do with the four little wires, so i replaced the original Toshiba and made a reservation with Genius Bar to ask for assistance.
this afternoon, i explained my problem and was told the four wires have NOTHING to do with it... Lawrence (the genius) told me to (actually, first he said Apple does not recommend my doing this... and that i should go to a 3rd party computer store such as Dino to get help!) go back to disk utilities and partition, then erase this drive and then i will see the icon for this drive in the install box.
Well i did everything i was told to do and... still, there is no icon for my Fujitsu HD! :o(
I was able to partition, after which there was a disc0 under the Fujitsu drive on the left side of the disk utilities. When i go to system profiler, and click on ATA... it too shows the Fujitsu drive... but i cannot install because there is NOTHING to click on at the installation step! the "continue" button is not active and only the "back" button is actively mocking me!!!
i know many of you have successfully upgraded your hard drive... what am i doing wrong? Would a different brand work better? I know Seagate is quite popular, and OWC sells a Western Digital version as well as a Hitachi... do those four little wires make a difference? Would the Seagate come with those wires???
i am going crazy... thanks, and sorry for the long post, just wanted to let you know what i've done!
    blue skies,
ps. please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you think that would be better! :o)

    Hi,
...after getting back from school, my MacBook was STILL in the process of verifying and "supposedly" repairing... since i was gone for over 10 hours, i finally assumed the drive was either defective or just incompatible, and quit disk utility.
...this morning i went out and bought a new Seagate 120GB SATA (they didn't have 160GB SATA drives, only 160GB ultra-ATA drives) 2.5 inch HD. This one DID have those four wires to the right of the contacts... (i don't know how important they are), and after changing and exchanging the Toshiba/Fujitsu HDs, it was a breeze putting in the new Seagate drive.
Erased > patritioned > and sure enough, the icon showed up and the biggest smile showed up on my face as i finished installing! :o)
I contacted the original seller of my fujitsu hd (it was a 2.5 inch, 120GB, serial ATA notebook drive) and he was kind enough to say "just pack it up and send it back for a refund!" (minus shipping and re-stocking fees of course! :o)
Just wanted to mention that, the fujitsu hd WAS recognized by disk-utility and at the bottom left of the window it said that the fujitsu was "GUID partitioned"..., so i am still scratching my head as to why it didn't work?!
I want to thank everyone that offered advice, it was helpful and i feel more comfortable with my MacBook after this trying and very frustrating episode! :o)
    blue skies,

  • IBook behaving oddly

A friend asked me to help with his failing iBook, a 12" 800MHz with 128Mb and an addition 256 ram chip. It's running 10.4.+ When it's picked up the screen breaks up and, disappears and generally displays a mass of vertical broken lines. My initial reaction was that it is a hard disk failure so I brought it into the office today to pop in a replacement. However, I firstly took out the 256 ram and thought that I try it without that first. All was well for an hour. I was able to run disk utility, repair disk etc. Then I saw that it was asking to update Safari so I let it only to find that 7/8ths through, it hung. Having rebooted it seems fine on the desk but to move it causes screen chaos. Now one of the most important tips here is that John pointed out that the date had defaulted to something like 01/01/1999. Having reset it last week, I noticed today, we were back in 1999. This indicates to me that the system battery is failing fast. Can this be replaced and if so, where is it? I have to say this iBook hasn't seen much action and visually it's like new. Before I reach for the spanners, has anyone experienced this before and can throw some light on the subject? Thanks, Barry

    Hey Barry,
When it's picked up the screen breaks up and, disappears and generally displays a mass of vertical broken lines.
That's a classic graphics processor unit (GPU) problem. In the G3 it sits on the bottom under a square bump on the lower shield. You can put a shim in there to assure good contact.
A permanent fix would be to pull the logic board and send it out for reballing of the GPU. $79 at Superior in IL.
Having rebooted it seems fine on the desk but to move it causes screen chaos.
Right there's like 250 tiny "balls" of solder that hold that chip to the logic board they come loose due to board flexing. I feel this is exacerbated due to the hinges getting stiff.
There isn't a PRAM battery in the iBook. This function is done by a super capacitor ( .22 Farads @ 5.5 V ) I have seen these fail in old iBooks.
    They look like this:
    http://site.mcminone.com/product/31-0750
but instead of end fed they're top and bottom w/ the top lead bent over to the opposite end.
These will only hold settings for 30 seconds or so. Long enough to change the battery. So if that's gone a small transient would cause the PMU to lose settings.
That would have nothing to do with the video problems you see however.

  • Lost photos from my phone, need to get them back somehow?

I had some photos on a Galaxy Nexus which is a piece of junk, and verizon sent me out a replacement phone.  So, I took out the chip which I though was the memory chip, but was some type of phone thing.  My dog past away and I had some very nice photos of her on the phone and would like to get them back.
Is there anyway to get the old phone back from verizon or are they destroyed right away.
I know this is kind of a long shot, but thought a quick post here may lead to some type of help.

Once you returned the device, it won't be possible to retrieve the photos.
Did you check you Google+ plus account?  Maybe they were backed up there?
You could have also connected the old phone to the computer as a MTP device and copied the file over before returning the device.  You should have also factory reset before sending it off too.
PS the chip you removed was the SIM card and is only used to make the phone connect to the network.  It doesn't have a lot of storage on it.

  • Reusing Network Name (SSID)

Bought a Time Capsule--replacing a Linksys. I took out the Linksys, put in the TC and launched Airport Utility on an iMac.  I chose "set up a new network", and used the old name (SSID), for two reasons.  First, I like the old name, and second, I thought all my computers (2 Mac 1 XP), and devices (Samsung BDP, iPod Touch, iPhones, and a Asus router configured in client mode, to supply a AVR receiver port), would happily latch on to the new router as if nothing ever happened.  However; It is not working, and I know that the Linksys gives out DHCP addresses starting with 192.168.1.100 (or something similar), but the TC has a much different  pack of numbers--i.e. each manufacturer has their own convention.  So I'm wondering if the devices will never "catch on" to the router because the SSID is more-or-less permanently linked to the "old Linksys" numbers?  Does this make sense, and how do I overcome this?  On the iPod and iPhones I could "forget this network" but then what?  Or am I going to be compelled to change names?

So I'm wondering if the devices will never "catch on" to the router because the SSID is more-or-less permanently linked to the "old Linksys" numbers?
Did you think about the type of wireless security on the two connections?  If the wireless security settings are different, (they likely are) devices are going to "see" a different network than before....even if the SSID is the same.
So, you really have two networks with the same SSID, but likely with different security settings. So, devices do not "see" them as the same network. They see them as a different network.
My opinion......It would be much better if you set up a different SSID and a different password to eliminate conflicts.
