I have done the hard work for you. My HTPC is pretty barebones so it was relatively easy to roll back all the packages that depend on libjpeg>7 with older versions. I then compiled the xbmc-svn package using that system. Slow downs are gone and I have uploaded the package to hotfile here:
http://hotfile.com/dl/13546051/021f9c9/ … ar.gz.html
This is for 32-bit. You will need the libjpeg6 package from AUR installed. I have tested it on two systems, my main system which has both libjpeg7 and the AUR libjpeg6 installed and on my htpc which has only the libjpeg6 along with the rolled back dependancies. Works good on both systems.
Hope that helps!
Kevin
Thanks ould!! You got it working with libjpeg6 again!
I had to upgrade libcdio again so now I lost dvd support. It's not easy to use the svn version.
If you could compile the build against libcdio 0.80 I'd be forever grateful... If you've got the time.

  • RedHat AS4 and Oracle 10R2 upgrade - performance issue

    Hi all,
As part of our database upgrade project (from Oracle 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3), we decided to upgrade our OS as well (RedHat AS4 from Update 2 to Update 4, 64-bit). We are in testing phase now and having some serious performance issues.
These below are steps that we have performed:
    1. Ran db load testing plus Application Regression testing in order to get a baseline
    2. Upgraded RH AS4 from Update 2 to Update 4
    3. Ran db load testing plus Application Regression testing
    4. Database load testing (including massive parallel processes, like 'insert into ...', 'create indexes ...parallel',etc ...) showed significant slowdown compared to our 'baseline' test (Update 2): 70-80%. The database is still Oracle 10.2.0.1, only RH was updated at this point
    5. We upgraded Oracle 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3, latest CPU , etc ...(Update 4 on OS side) still same slowdown in performances ...
    6. Our Application Regression Testing has showed performance degradation also but not in same extent as db load test (10-20 % on different application modules)
    7. We also did one more thing : went back and upgraded Oracle with Update 2 (some 'workarounds' were required but that's another story). Performances were OK. So it seems our problem is not (directly) related to Oracle version.
Now we are going to install Update 6 (the latest update for AS4) and see how it goes.
If anybody have any experience or idea about this case and want to share it with us, it would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Milan N.

Just a quick update for those who follow this thread ...
Everything worked fine with 'Update 6' kernel (both Oracle 10.2.0.1 and 10.2.0.3). We have also applied all available security packages.
    Milan N.

  • Are there any known issues with Adobe Edge Animate and Yosemite? Experiencing performance issues since upgrading OS

Are there any known issues with Adobe Edge Animate and Yosemite? Experiencing performance issues since upgrading OS. Animation I was working on that had been performing in browser fine suddenly stopped working, and was not related to any action I had done at that point. Also was working in it today and program stopped responding to key board short cut commands.

I am having a whole slew of odd interface problems with a fresh 2014.1.1 on a fresh macbook pro with latest Yosemite. Program locks up, cursor selections don't show, things disappear. I have a mac mini also and the program runs fine on it. Is there possibly something related to the solid state hard drive in new macs?

  • Mac OS X Lion and Java7 + JavaFX2.1 performance issues

Currently I'm using the JavaFX 2.1 GA Build with Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) on my MacBook Pro (2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, ATI Radeon X1600 256 MB) an run into some performance and ui problems. The overall rendering framerate is arround ~30fps (which is normally 60fps on my desktop computer) and if I try to resize the main window the window starts to flicker and I get the following exception:
Glass detected outstanding Java exception at -[GlassRunnable run]:src/com/sun/mat/ui/GlassApplication.m:163

at com.sun.prism.j2d.J2DPresentable$Glass$1.run(J2DPresentable.java:99)So, how can I avoid the flickering and the performance drop? Any suggestions?

For JavaFX applications to take advantage of the new hardware acceleration pipeline provided by JavaFX, your system must feature one of a wide range of GPUs currently available in the market. Table 1 lists the graphics cards that have been tested with JavaFX. If your system does not support hardware acceleration, then JavaFX uses the Java2D software pipeline.
For Mac OS X, the following standard Apple hardware graphics chips provide the required support:
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 288MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
    - AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memoryYour graphics card is not on that list, so JavaFX is falling back to a software pipeline, which does not work that well for you. You may not be able to resolve some performance issues when using a software pipline. You can log an issue at http://javafx-jira.kenai.com to request the NullPointerException be fixed - as that should not occur in any case and is a bug.

  • Mac Pro 2013 and Premiere Pro - The performance issue that Adobe don't want us talking about!

In May 2014 I bought a 2013 Mac Pro to help my business with the ever increasing demands video editing was placing on our systems.  I was so excited to see how the 12GB of power the AMD D700s would affect my workflow and ability to edit footage seamlessly without delays to the creative process.
However, to my dismay pretty much since starting to work with the system I found that there was an issue with the GPUs, Mac OS and Adobe’s applications.  It was first reported by many other users in early 2014 and as yet know one from Adobe has really commented officially on the issue.
Sadly it appears to still be present today and speaking with an Adobe rep confirmed this.  Trouble is no one is doing anything about it.  My hope is that, if you have watched this video and are experiencing the same issues then please let’s get the comments going, share and like the video and let’s get Adobe, Apple and AMD to pick up this with immediate haste! Thank you.
Below is a video of the problem I have been experiencing.  It's a little long but I wanted to give a good account of the problem we are seeing so that someone can help! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help!
Mac Pro 2013 and Premiere Pro GPU Issue - YouTube
Thank you for your time and I'd love someone to help!

Thanks for responding!  It's such a pain and I have been chatting to one of Adobe's senior consultants about this and still none the wiser.  I have sent my machine off to the retailer as it was still under warranty.  Nothing wrong with GPU apparently which is a relief although I kinda wish it had been that as it would have been an easier fix.  Adobe told me that working with H.264 is totally possible but if you have a complex sequence with multicam and nested video with effects applied then it will seriously hinder performance.  Sadly transcoding to ProRes doesn't seem to help either and they suggested not adding any effects to the nested clips, flattening out the multi cams etc and this has improved things a bit.  Sent a sequence to SpeedGrade the other day though and the machine had a fit.  FCPX though seems to be working great and has a few advantages over Premiere so I may be making a switch for this type of work until Adobe can sort out this issue.  I still feel that the application isn't fully making the most of the GPUs.  In fact, I found out that multicam is actually all still on the CPU and that they are trying to implement GPU handling of multicam soon.

Reverted my previous reversion, since the original change wasn't the cause of the Mustella breakage. So once again:
The 'lineBreak' style is now properly declared as non-inheriting.
For a long time we've intended for it to be non-inheriting... it lives in BasicNonInheritingStyles.as! And we want it to be non-inheriting, because in TLF this format does not inherit from parent FlowElement to child FlowElement, so in Flex is should not inherit from parent UIComponent to child UIComponent. But the metadata incorrectly said inherit="yes". It now correctly says inherit="no".

Did I understand you right that you said that even using a PCI NIC in those systems gave the same errors?  That would likely mean that any corruption is in the hardware... the nForce4 chipset or Hypertransport or maybe even mbrd traces?  I think there are enough systems out there running satisfactorily that that is not a viable explanation: Hypertransport errors would cause all kinds of hard disk problems as well as with other I/O devices.  Are you sure that nothing is (unintentionally) overclocked and have you checked the memory with Orthos http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm?
There are a couple of things about the nForce NI though: most important is that the TCP offloading is broken and I've had to disable Checksum Offloading and Segmentation Offloading in the Advanced Properties of the nForce Network Controller in Device Manager.  This also means that the Active Armor is broken and consequently the nVidia Firewall and NAM (Network Access Manager) are useless.  IOW if NAM is installed get rid of it - I've no idea what it might do with other NIs installed in the system... hopefully nothing but then.......
A couple of points to clear up: 1) are you only getting the errors on an internet connection and LAN connections work OK? 2) What are those nForce systems connected to... a hub or switch and through to a router? 3) I'm not sure what "outbound packet errors" means - is it due to the OS seeing that the packets are malformed before they go to the NI, or is it due to the NI getting error responses from the device on the other end of the "wire"?
