if manually inserted, delete the £ and enter $
if you want to format cells:
Inspector > Table > Numbers >
choose currenct from dropdown menu
choose decimal placed in dropdown menu

Can I swap my hard drive to another ibook g3?

My screen has broken [liquid damage] and to get it fixed it'll cost £100-£300 and I don't know if it's just the screen gone. It will be cheaper probably to buy a new ibook off ebay and sell my ibook in parts. But I'll need to back up my 60gb hard drive. Firstly, how do I do that? If I remove it will my data all be gone? Can I install that in another ibook g3 [whether of same speed and RAM or not]? The hard drive is seemingly undamaged because the computer still turns on and surely you need data from that to power up - or at least it means the logic board is fine.
Anyway, how do I back it up? Would it actually be better buying a new ibook off ebay - do I need the exact same specifications as mine in order to swap hard drives if that's possible

First what kind of liquid? Coffee, coke, wine and the like can be very corrosive to minute electrical traces on the motherboard.
the liquid went onto the top part of the keyboard where the speakers and power buttons are found but may have got into the inner edge of the screen and obviously with that not going on it has broken it.
Not necessarily the LCD but the cables for the LVDS and inverter go through that area. Also liquid in that area can easily find it's way to the logic board and that could be fatal. I intend to post instructions on dealing with liquid problems. First of all iBooks should have all power pulled and necessary drying out procedures initiated before attempting power up.
the cursor is not moving so i guess that has broken and so i can't test if the keyboard is working because i can't get logged on. the battery has decharged itself so somehow liquid has got into whatever powers that up, maybe the adapter port as that's on the side?! it does still power up, i can hear it whirring, does that mean that the logic board is still ok? and when you said that if i have a working logic board i can recover data that way, does that mean if i put my logic board from my ibook into a new one, my data would still be on it?
Your data is on the hard drive.
and with the powering up but no screen image does it also mean that the hard drive is still intact?
Probably. Will it go into target mode as in my first post?

My wife's macbook is full, mine is not so we were thinking tayher than buy another, we would swap. My qusetion is how to I swap the contents of her's onto min and vice versa?
I have thought of copying hrad drives onto external and doing that but thought there maybe a better way

Just called trying to swap my Iphone 5 on another line on my family plan...

and a rep stated that they were unable to at the moment, and that the system was getting so many requests that they could not be done until after 12am tonight. She didn't seem to say anything about having to get another SIM card, said she would give me a call back tomorrow and go through with the process.
I asked her if it would be any quicker in the store, she said it might or might not be. Being as all information goes to the same place, more then likely she said it wouldn't matter.
If anyone has any input, please let me know.

I have read SO many different posts this week with different instructions on how to handle this. My iPhone is due to arrive in the next hour via FedEx and now I'm confused.
1. Do I or do I not activate it before I attempt the swap?
2. Is it a given that the Nano SIM will have to be swapped if I'm changing number?
3. Is the Nano SIM card truly necessary for the phone to work (I've even heard different answers to this question, believe it or not. Someone in another thread said it would actually work okay without it but wouldn't make international calls)?

Can I swap my hard disk to another n200?

Hi, I have an issue with my 3000 n200.
I´ll try and make the story as short as possible;
My first problem seemed to be that the power adaptor was dead (the battery was not charging and nor was the battery indicator light lighting up) So I bought another adaptor, to my distress this didn´t work.
So I decided to take a look at the connection for the power jack. Again I could see no issue really with this. My fear is that if I replace the power jack and so I will move onto the next component in the chain.
However I do have a slightly tangential solution. On Ebay I have located th same model without hard disc (got one) or power supply (Got 2!) and missing a few minor cosmetic parts (easy stuff) and a good price too.
So, my question is...can I simply move accross my hard drive to the new (ebay) laptop?
I´m very aware that I will probably need to install windows again, that´s no biggie, i´ve been a good boy and backed up. Obviously I would prefer to just switch on and everything to be back as normal but I´m a realist.
My big concern is regarding the restore and recovery file on the hard disk. Will I be able to reinstall windows from this or do I need to purchase a new copy of XP (Is this even possible now?) Id much prefer to continue using the same laptop due to some music software I run and the Expresscard slot which I use constantly. I need continuity at least for a while to organise my projects.

its supposed to have same specifications as the original one. so, you should be able to use it as your original computer but make sure that you have disabled bios password if you have any on your old computer.

Swap Symbol

Hello,
I am trying to swap a graphic symbol for a movie clip in a previously animated sequence in the top level timeline. The symbol appears to swap - and when I double-click into it see the animation - but it doesn't play the movie clip. Also see the symbol retains the graphic element icon next to the "Scene 1" title above the stage.

I made a movie clip (named "blink") of 15 frames and see it in my library. Then I place a graphic element on stage and animated it moving around the stage wiht 30 frames. Then I tried to swap the graphic for a movie clip. The element seems to swap so when I double click it on the stage it opens the 15 frame "blink" movie clip. However the info line at the top of the animation window shows Scene 1 > Blink with blink having a graphic symbol instead of a movie clip symbol (see attached) and it does not play out the movie clip as the element moves around the stage. Does that make more sense?

Symbol not swapping!

This is driving my crazy. I've been swapping symbols in Flash
for months and all of a sudden it STOPS WORKING! Let's review: To
swap a symbol, all you have to do is highlight the symbol on stage,
click "Swap" in the Properties palette and select a new symbol from
the library. Simple, right? Well, when I select a new symbol from
the library, nothing happens! The swap action is registered in the
History palette, but no visible change has been made on the stage.
Better yet, I tried an alternate solution by deleting the old
symbol and dragging the new symbol on the stage from the librabry.
But what appears on stage is still the OLD symbol! What the hell's
going on?

in some cases it can drive you nuts (as it did to you) if you
dont know the what and why of the sync
option.
Sync is a feature that is available when a motion tween is
applied -
click on the keyframe with the motion tween and look at the
bottom of
the properties Panel. You'll see Sync with a checkbox next to
it. If
this box is selected, then the symbol in the first keyframe
will be
forced to all subsequent keyframes there after. it literally
keeps a
single instance in sync with the timeline in the motion
tween.
Deselect the Sync option and you can literally have 2
different symbols motion tweened - yes it is
true - as often as we have been told
only 1 symbol per tween, you can literally have "symbol A" in
frame 1 of
a motion tween and then swap in a new symbol in the 2nd
keyframe of the
motion tween if Sync is NOT selected.
your problem was merely that Sync was selected which prevents
you from
swapping in a new symbol on that layer/tween.
Here's where Flash makes the Sync feature even more
mysterious: If you
apply a motion tween by selected the tween from the drop doan
menu in
the Properties Panel, then Sync is UNCHECKED. If you like to
right-click
between keyframes on the layer and select Apply Motion Tween
from the
popup context menu, then Sync will be CHECKED. This is what I
consider a
huge incosistency with Flash. If you are not aware of it (and
there's nothing in the help docs to
support this inconsistency) then you'll end up pulling your
hair out trying to find out why swapping
stopped working :p
on the flip side, Sync is great for when you want/need to
change the symbol throughout an entire
tween and all keyframes - if sync is selected, just swap out
the symbol in the first keyframe and
all subsequent keyframes will reflect the change.

Animated Gif files in Captivate

I have created an animated GIF file in Photoshop that i want to use in my captivate file.
The file wont preview in any of the preview modes other than the HTML5 output preview. All other previews just show the first frame of the GIF file.
If i chose to SWAP the animation with another GIF from the library the preview shows the animation playing.. see attached
Is there something im doing wrong here.
I guess i could upload my final file to the LMS with HTML5 output as this preview shows the animation but i also read there are limitations with this output as some transitions / effects dont work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can verify whether your GIF would fucntion correctly on HTML5 platform by Window--HTML5 Tracker Pod.
I am not an expert on Photoshop, but still would like to make a recommendation.
Set the 'delay' value for each of your Frame to 0.01 or some value if it shows as 0, this can be done using the animation frame Window. Save it as GIF again for Web Devices and import in Captivate, see, if you are abale to preview this time.

Need help modifying a symbol in Actionscript

Hey guys, I think this might be my 2nd or 3rd actual post on here, so be kind to the newbie! I took a class in high school on how to use flash, but am picking it up now again a few years later! My mother is a teacher, and she kept telling me that she had some kind of review game (like jepordy) for the book 'The Hunger Games', so as a surprise I am going to make on for her in flash!. I had a question though, and I am not sure how I would go about asking it in 'actionscript' terms, so I will ask in plain english and see if I could get help translating it... hahaha
My goal:
I have a menu that displays 5 boxes with the numbers 100 - 500 ont hem (think jeprody). When the user clicks on a box, they are taken to the corrisponding question, and then the answer. However, when the user comes back to that main screen, I would like the question they just selected to be about 75-50% transparent, indicating a sort of 'vistied' look to it, so they don't just go through the same question again. If I couldn't get a transparent look, I would even be okay with swapping out the symbol with another one (basically a transprent duplicate of the first one).
Right now, I am just making an icon in illustraor, importinting into flash, and then uisng the "on (release) gotoAndPlay(keyframe);" to nagivigate through my different frames. When I was looking online to find a soultion, everyone was trying to do something WAY more complicated then I needed, and so maybe it's just something really simple.

Thanks for the quick answer! I am still struggling with it, but I think I am on the right track! All of my 'buttons' are actually images that I imported from AI and converted them all into movie clips so I could put actionscript one them.
As of right now, here is what I have, on my first frame in my actions layer I have:

Symbol versus Symbol Std

Since FM8, I use Unicode fonts since it's the only sensible way for multilingual documents. Also, I use Adobe Pi Std for special graphical symbols instead of Wingdings or type 1 Dingbats etc, since it is Unicode and installed with FM8, which makes it much more robust and safe than using encoding in the ascii range. Likewise, Courier Std is used instead of Courier.
However, Symbol is special in FM: I considered to switch to Symbol Std, since it is also installed by FM8, and is a Unicode-only font. However, for equations, FM still uses regular Symbol rather than Symbol Std! This cannot be changed, despite Symbol Std is in the standard FM directory (fminit/fonts/adobe)! This speaks for continuing to use Symbol rather than going for Symbol Std. (Tested by making a PDF and then checking the fonts.) On the other hand, when I copy from a PDF-saved version of the file and paste into FM, a character that used regular Symbol becomes encoded in the Unicode range (above ascii) when pasted into FM (thus requiring Symbol Std instead of Symbol). This latter behavior speaks for using Symbol Std whenever possible, but if so, the PDF file may very well embed BOTH Symbol versions if I have both an equation and some symbols, and this mix seems inelegant to me.
I am interested in hearing other's view on this.
FYI: As for distilling into PDF, I always have the 'Adobe PDF Printing Preferences' set to always include fonts when generating postscript, since not doing this will often crash FM, no matter what fonts you use. A well-known issue with FM since many versions.

The font definitions for the equation characters are all stored in the
\fminit\mathchar.cfg file. You can swap out the Symbol if you wish.
Just make a backup copy of this file before you start changing it. ;-)

Align symbols in a grid

Actually i want a script to align 6 symbols in 10 X 10 grid. In random they should align in center of each and every grid boxes. and the row and coloumn should given by us. what is the easier way to do this..
PLZ help me for this. Bcoz i have to sit for a long time to align this.

See the descriptions of two scripts on
this page and
this page named "ReplaceWithSymbol" and "RandomReplaceSymbol".
ReplaceWithSymbol replaces the objects in the current selection with instances a Symbol of your choosing that exists in your Symbols Palette.
RandomReplaceSymbol randomly replaces selected Symbol Instances with Instances of the other Symbols in the current Symbol Palette.
So with those scripts, there are several ways to approach what you describe. For example:
1. Put any Symbol Instance on the page.
2. Use Transform Effect to create your grid.
3. Expand the Transform Appearance.
3. Use RandomReplaceSymbol to swap out the Symbols.
or
1. Draw a rectangle (or any other shape).
2. Rasterize it.
3. Use Filter>Create>ObjectMosaic to create a grid of rectangular paths. Ungroup the results.
4. Drag a Symbol Instance (any will do) onto the page.
5. Select everything and run the ReplaceWithSymbol script.
6. Select the array of Instances and run the RandomReplaceSymbol script.
...and so on.

Satellite L850-150 LCD screen swap to another with more resolution?

Hi,
I'm owner of a Toshiba L850-150, with a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 and i want to know if is possible to swap the Lcd screen to another with more resolution, lets say one panel capable of display full HD 1920*1080 resolution.
I think the graphics card has enough power to handle it. (No gaming intended)

I choosed the L850-150 because of the high processor power and dedicated midrange gpu to use mainly with Deejay / Veejay apps.
While you are playing live in a gig you cant really tell the difference between HD and FullHD in a 15" screen, but at home is more noticeable.
My point is to swap the lcd panel with another Toshiba compatible with more resolution when warranty ends, and to sell mine in ebay.
I usually connect a projector to the vga port, so i cant take the external monitor option easily.
It seems that no laptop in the L850 and P850 Series uses a Full HD panel, that would make things easier.
So to be more specific my question would be if is it possible to swap lcd panels with a more resolution one from a 15,6" Toshiba of another series (mine is 1,366 x 768)

I have a VERY big animation, with a huge amount of keyframes, and I like to swap a symbol in this animation with another one.
If I just use the swap button on the first frame, Flash only swaps the symbol for the first tween, whereas I have hundreds of tweens in my file...
So how do I do this for every keyframe in every tween ?
