You can download from this link and validate with your serial number. You can run LR5 on both machines.

    Hi keltystu,
You are doing 2 things wrong:
    1. you are trying to run EXE file(installer) on MAC
    2. You are trying to run a very old application on latest configuration which is not compatible and may not fulfill the appropriate requirement.

  • Which mac for photoshop CS6?

    which mac for photoshop CS6?

"checked that, but I am not a geek, do not really understand."
    Mac OS
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7
    1GB of RAM
2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
1024x768 (1280x800 recommended) resolution display with 16-bit color and 512MB of VRAM
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
    DVD-ROM drive
This software will not operate without activation. Broadband Internet connection and registration are required for software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.† Phone activation is not available.
Nothing geeky about it. Understanding Photoshop CS6 is geeky.

  • I want to change from windows to mac for cs5

I bought the upgrade for lightroom 5 and found I needed Windows 7 which I did not have. Thought now would be the time to change to Mac. How can I swap formats on the photoshop CS5 license I currently have?

    Hi Marionneedshelpplease,
There shouldn't be any problem while upgrading and switching the OS.Please go through this link : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l
If you want to upgrade from CS5 Win to CS5.5 or CS6 MAC, you can do that. Its called Cross Platform Upgrade.
But as Bob mentioned, you need to contact adobe for that. It cannot be done online from adobe website.

  • Swapping license from windows to mac/upgrade?

Purchased CS5 (WIn) Student and teacher edition. I have subsequently gone to university and use a Mac.
Is it possible to swap the license to CS5 mac and download the software?
If not, how much does it cost to upgrade to CS6 and is this available on DVD media?

There are no upgrades with further S&T discounts. That being so, you would simply buy a CS6 version for Mac. There are no disks, just downloads these days (unless you buy a retail package with a code, but those get fewer every day as stock runs out).

  • HELP!  Transition from PC to MAC for iTunes/iPod

Okay, so I'm thinking about making the switch from PC to MAC. I understand how to move my music files from one machine to another, but need more specific information on moving my full library (i.e. already attached artwork, and playlists to be more specific). I've got 36,000 songs in my library, with many playlists (too many to re-create from scratch) and artwork that was manually attached for several of the files (over the past couple of years). I don't want to lose any of this. Also, will I need to reformat my iPod (and the 5 other ones in the house), in order to do regular syncs going forward. Appreciate the help anyone can give here.

I forgot, if you want to keep all your playlists, leave the itunes folder on your external drive, or copy to your mac, then redirect itunes to your new folder.

  • Moving my project from PC to Mac for future editing on the Mac.

I have created a project on adobe premiere elements 12 on my PC and need to move the project across to my new Mac for future editing. Is this possible and if so how can I do it?

    SharpFX
As John Nash points out, project files (project.prel files) created in Premiere Elements Windows will not work in Premiere Elements Mac and vice versa.
Projects taken to completion in the program/operating system in which they are created is the way to go.
If at all practical and depending on the "need to do" feature, you might export the Premiere Elements Windows Timeline to a .mov or .mp4
file and then import that into a new Premiere Elements Mac project. The level of edits in Premiere Elements Mac would dictate the degree of cutting of the Timeline content in order to accomplish the wanted edits in Premiere Elements Mac.

  • Serial Number invalid for cs5.5 subscription edition--changed platform (from Windows to MAC OS)

I renewed my subscription for the Web Design Premium edition, but I'm working on a MAC instead of the Windows edition. I tried to enter the serial number I was given but it doesn't work. I need my software to work today (Sunday). Please help!!

    Hi greeder1
You will have to order an Adobe Cross Platform Swap to use your software on an OS different from the one that you purchased it for. For more details, see the document Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap. If your need to use the software is real urgent, I'd recommend that you install a trial version till you get your serial number from Adobe.
    Thanks,

  • Changing to a different operating system was rejected by Adobe (...there is no option available to swap the platform from windows to MAC). Is there any solution?

Although this possibility still existed and Adobe here (Order product | Platform, language swap) states that one can. Was rejected. Any advice?

Platform swaps are limited to the most recent released version only.

  • What's the best Mac for Photoshop?

I daily work on layered photoshop files, up to 10 (ten) GB. I currently have a G5 with 8 gb of ram. I finally can afford to upgrade to a faster computer and need to figure out if the 8core 2.93GHZ at $5,899 is the best buy for me. The 8 core 2.26GHZ is $3299. For an additional $2500 I would need to know that I will get at least 15% increase in speed. I remember back in the day when I picked out the fastest g5, when I later compared it to a slower G5, the difference in speed was barely noticeable, and when I upgraded to 8GB of RAM I discovered that photoshop could only take advantage of 2 GB.
Does photoshop benefit from 8core vs 4 core?
Will an 8 core 2.26ghz be faster than a 4 core 2.93GHZ when working in photoshop?
Is there something new coming out, so I would benefit from waiting with my purchase?

I work on big files, tho not that big.
For many of the time-critical things I do in Photoshop seem to be single-processor, so even tho I have an 8-core machine, often only one is being used. This includes things like flatening and saving. So I am not sure that (unless you have other programs running) you would ever see an advantage to more than 4 cores.
What I do notice when I work with big files, is that I keep a copy of Activity Monitor open, and whenever the green sector in memory goes to zero, my computer becomes unusably slow, and I usually reboot. I don't understand memory managment on the Mac, but whatever "inactive" means, it really means "swap yourself to death". So I have 14GB of RAM on my computer, and I usually don't run out even when dealing with big files. But I know that 8GB would not have been enough. Photoshop may not use more than 2GB, but it and the OS can cache materials and when those caches get too big, my computer comes to a halt. With your files, you may find 32GB to be useful.
What I have done is to burn a CD or DVD with one big psd/psb file and walk down to my local Apple Store. The machines there don't have much RAM, but you can get some feeling for 4 cores vs. 8 cores. Reboot them before you do anything.
One thing I would strongly recommend you do not try is what I did with my old G5--install a RAID. It only increased opportunities for losing files, and while it certainly sped up many file operations, I don't think any Photoshop operations were affected at all.

  • Swapping HD from G5 to Mac Pro

Just bought a refurb 2.8 8-core and I want to know if I can just swap out the hard drive from the G5 to the Pro with all the data on it, instead of having to transfer the files.
On a related note, I'm going to reinstall most of the software, but programs like shareware that I've paid for and Entourage which has my settings and all my old e-mails - can I simply transfer them on initial setup of the Pro? Or do I have to move the folder with the e-mails over to the Pro and then reinstall Office 2004?
I'm mostly concerned about my old e-mails and smaller software programs that I paid for and don't want to have to pay for the keys again. Best solutions?

Being new at this, I got confused on one step when it came to reformatting, which is this:
Once you've put your hard drive in the Mac Pro and go to Disk Utilities, you choose the Partition Tab, Since you need to change to a GUID partition table.
To do that, you need to select OPTIONS, but to bring up Options as a working button, you need to first select the number of partitions - 1 or more - under "Volume Scheme." Good luck.

  • Best new mac for Photoshop CS5/6

I bought Photoshop CS5 and 6 prior to having a mac they could work on as I wanted to future proof myself against the cloud based system ( lets not go there )
Now my G5 PPC main HD had died suddenly and as the new MacPro is imminent I have lots of options , but would appreciate advice on which to go for - I will be using it for Lightroom and photoshop exclusively for photgraphy ( apart from browsing ) so don't want to waste money on a system that is way beyond my needs ,  i.e. no need for a mac with functions that the se applications can't leverage. I have a 20" sceen but kinda , sorta fancy having another screen, but not absolutely needed
My choices are, as I see them, 27 imac i7,, mac mini, macpro (when available)
I'm not in a rush so can wait for the new MacPro, but suspect it might be overkill fr waht I would use it for
    any advice much appreciated
    thanks

Probably a 2009  or  2010  would do find and save 1/2 the price.
48-128GB  RAM are cheaper  and easier on those older  Mac Pro
The new one is expensive and over kill
you can upgrade as needed the parts you need, and you can still run 10.6.8 and not  be forced onto 10.9
SSDs, SSD PCIe controller(s) help a lot with Lightroom, Aperture, CS scratch volumes and fast boot drive.
