Swaping 2 variables using function

how do i write a function that swaps two variables in java?

import java.awt.*;
public class test {
  String one;
  String two;
  public test() {
    one = "does this work?";
    two = "I really don't know, let's give it a whirl";
    System.out.println("one = " + one + "\n" +
                       "two = " + two);
    String[] didIt = swapThese(one, two);
    System.out.println("*******After calling swapThese():" + "\n" +
                       "one = " + one + "\n" +
                       "two = " + two + "\n" +
                       "didIt[0] = " + didIt[0] + "\n" +
                       "didIt[1] = " + didIt[1]);
    swapGlobalValues(one, two);
    System.out.println("*******After calling swapGlobalValues():" +
                       "\none = " + one + "\n" +
                       "two = " + two);
  private String[] swapThese(String string1, String string2) {
    String holder1 = string1;
    String holder2 = string2;
    string2 = string1;
    string1 = holder2;
    String[] valueOut = {string1, string2};
    return valueOut;
  private void swapGlobalValues(String string1, String string2) {
    one = string2;
    two = string1;
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    new test();

  • Using functional global variables to transfer data between touch screen device and other targets

    Hi,
    We are currently developing a control system that will operate on a cRIO with a touch screen interface. During development we have been using functional global variables (FGVs) to handle most of the settings/data etc, however we have just realised that we may have an issue updating the data on the touch screen, and vice versa.
    Previously we have implemented similar programs using shared variables, however we were wondering if there is anyway to implement FGVs in a similar manner, whether it'd be a combination of FGVs and shared variables.
    Regards,
    Mike
    Software version: Labview 8.2.1

    See this thread on LAVA about sharing FGV's across projects. THis should be extendable to cross paltforms (I believe).
    You also may want to concider an upgrade to LV 8.5.1. We have found a number of performance related issues with LV 8.2.1 and RT.
    If you decide not to upgrade, just remeber what I wrote (above) when you have reason to question the performance.

  • How to use functional global with a large amount of variables?

    Hi all,
    I'm currently developping a LV program which control and acquired data from a device. Up to now I used global variables ( very conveniente to use for experimental parameters). But now my program is become to be too large and I have too much "global" variables to continue to use a global.vi.
    I'm wondering if functional global can help me. If someone has an exemple of how use functional global with a large amount of variables...
    thanks

    I agree with Ben.
    Using queues is better than a number of Globals or Action Engines (Functional Globals).  If you need to pass data to a sub-vi, you can simply wire the queue out to a queue control of a sub-vi, or a reference.  See attached example of passing data to a sub-vi using a queue.  The example is an extremely simple, undocumented tid-bit of code that sends the loop count to the consumer VI.
    Run the main program called QueueProducer.vi.

  • Is there a "where used" functionality for SEM variables?

    Hello everybody,
    I am about to do some major changes to a BPS application that i have built and have come to realize that it will be quite some work to go through the whole thing for the purpose of replacing some variables.
    Hence, is there a "where used" functionality for SEM variables somewhere out there?
    Greetings,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
              Have not seen that functionality before,however I have used the same by creating my own reports.All the variables can be found in the UPC_VAR table.If you are looking for the use of the variables in fox code,use a wild card search with UPC_FORML table in the formula column for %'VARV'%.IF Searching for uses in the conditions field for planning functions , use the table UPC_OPTIOS, column variable.In my case i needed to search the foxcode for variable uses.
    Hope this helps to some extent.

  • Need help with setting a variable using actionscript

    So I am trying to import in XML and this is working fine, But
    once in flash I need to reference this variable in a later script.
    Here is what I got.
    function loadXML(loaded) {

    var node2 =
    this.firstChild.childNodes[0].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue;
    /////when traced it outputs the proper value.
    trace(node1);
    ////////does not work here though.
    xmlData = new XML();
    xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
    xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
    xmlData.load("co.xml");
    var latmin = 37;
    var latmax = 41;
    var lonmin = -109;
    var lonmax = -102;
    this.geoPlotter_gp.setRange(latmin, latmax, lonmin, lonmax);
    this.geoPlotter_gp.setNodeSymbol("geoPloterNodeSymbol");
    this.geoPlotter_gp.addNode(40.48, -107);
    ////////////////This is where I need to now use the variables
    defined above//////////////
    this.geoPlotter_gp.addNode(node1);// Boulder
    this.geoPlotter_gp.addNode(node2);// Denver
    /////any ideas all? I am sure this is something simple...I am
    just overlooking something.

    when you prefix a variable using var within a function,
    you're making it local to that function. ie, node1 and node2 are
    undefined outside loadXML().
    to remedy, don't prefix with var.

  • [SOLVED]:Is it possible to use functions like decode in 'setWhereClause()'?

    Hello,
    My requirement is that I have 2 poplists - Country and States.
    When I select a country,the corresponding states of that country should get populated in the states poplist.
    The approach I took is that :
    I selected firePartialAction as ActionType in Country poplist. Then I called a function to VOImpl of StatesVO and set the where clause there.
    Now I was thinking about using decode as there is no direct connection between the CountryVO and StatesVO.
    Is it possible to use functions like decode in 'setWhereClause()'?
    For Example:
    setWhereClause("DECODE(LOOKUP_TYPE,'XXC_IND_STATES','IND','XXC_US_STATES','US') = :1");
    setWhereClauseParam(0,Country);
    executeQuery();
    When I tried running the page,no error was given but when the country poplist was changed - there is no change in states poplist.
    If its not possible to use decode in setWhereClause(), could you please guide me as to how I can write a query to retrieve a value from a table and store it in a variable 'A'- so that I can pass that variable 'A' in setWhereClauseParam function .

    That kewl, but for u knowledge u can add anything in ur where clause of query through ur code in Voimpl class. It is even possible to do change entire query, see Voimpl class methods in javadoc.

  • Location of variable and function names in SWF bytecode?

    Ok, so I'm looking at the specification PDF for v10 of a SWF file.
    Here is a link to it: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/swf/pdf/swf_file_format_spec_v10.pdf
    I can't find anything in there about where or how a SWF stores variable and function names in the bytecode, though SWF decompilers can find them in any SWF file. So they must be in there somewhere.
    Can any one help me on this one?

    Hi check the varaibles by giving ur tech.name of report input parameter to the below program,
    RSRQ_QUERYDEFINITION
    it will all the query details. So you can find ur varaibles where it is used exactly.

  • Variables using "sets"

    Hello,
    I need some help about how to do the following: in my abap program I need to access a set of customers. This set of customers can be changed in the future in order to add or remove customers.
    Any idea about how to do using a standard functionality of SAP? I do not want to create any Z table. Is there something like "sets" in SAP? Functional team has told me to store this information as variables using "sets" which will give the ability to add more such Customers when required.
    Thanks

    You can maintain Sets via GS01/GS02 transaction.
    1. Go to GS01 to create a new set.
    2. Give a proper name for the Set Name, Provide the Table Name as KNA1.
    3. On pressing Enter it will ask for the fieldname. Give it as KUNNR.
    4. On pressing Enter, you will get into the maintenance screen.
    5. Maintain the values and press Save button to save the set.
    To access the values maintain thru program,
    1. First get the SET ID using the FM G_SET_GET_ID_FROM_NAME.
    2. Using the SET ID get the values maintained in the set using FM
        G_SET_TREE_IMPORT.
    Hope this helps.

  • Alv's using function modules

    hi,
    in alv's using fuction modules how to add pushbuttons in application tool bar?

    Hi Ganapathi,
    Check out the list of Function Modules
    ABAP_DOCU_DOWNLOAD     Download ABAP documentation in HTML format.
    APPL_LOG_DELETE     With this function module you delete logs in the database according to specified selection conditions
    APPL_LOG_DISPLAY     With this function module you can analyze logs in the database.
    APPL_LOG_DISPLAY_INTERN     With this function module you can analyze logs in local memory, e.g. when you have only collected log records at runtime and do not want to write to the database.
    APPL_LOG_INIT     This function module checks whether the specified object or sub-object exists and deletes all existing associated data in local memory.
    APPL_LOG_READ_DB     With this function module you read the log data in the database for an object or sub-object according to specified selection conditions.
    APPL_LOG_READ_INTERN     With this function module you read all log data whose log class has at least the specified value, from local memory, for the specified object or sub-object.
    APPL_LOG_SET_OBJECT     With this function module, you create a new object or sub-object for writing in local memory. With a flag you can control whether the APPL_LOG_WRITE_... messages are written in local memory or are output on the screen.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_DB     With this function module you write all data for the specified object or sub-object in local memory to the database. If the log for the object or sub-object in question is new, the log number is returned to the calling program.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_HEADER     With this function module, you write the log header data in local memory.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_LOG_PARAMETERS     With this function module, you write the name of the log parameters and the associated values for the specified object or sub-object in local memory. If this function module is called repeatedly for the same object or sub-object, the existing parameters are updated accordingly. If you do not specify an object or sub-object with the call, the most recently used is assumed.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_MESSAGE_PARAMS     With this function module you write a single message, with parameters, in local memory. Otherwise the function module works like APPL_LOG_WRITE_SINGLE_MESSAGE.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_MESSAGES     With this function module you write one or more messages, without parameters, in local memory.
    APPL_LOG_WRITE_SINGLE_MESSAGE     With this function module you write a single message, without parameters, in local memory. If no header entry has yet been written for the object or sub-object, it is created. If you do not specify an object or sub-object with the call, the most recently used is assumed.

    Example:
    data:
        begin of t_values occurs 2,
          value like kna1-begru,
        end of t_values,
        t_return like ddshretval occurs 0 with header line.
      t_values = 'PAR*'.
      append t_values.
      t_values = 'UGG'.
      append t_values.
      call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
           exporting
                retfield        = 'BEGRU'

    FTP_CONNECT     Open a connection (and log in) to an FTP server
    FTP_DISCONNECT     Close the connection (and log off) the FTP server
    FU CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ     You can use this function module to display simple material BOMs. You cannot display BOM groups (for example, all variants of a variant BOM). as in transaction CS03. Current restrictions: You cannot display long texts. You cannot display sub-items. You cannot display classification data of BOM items for batches. You can only display one alternative or variant. You cannot enter an alternative for module CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ, so you always see alternative 01. The following example came from a posting on the SAP-R3-L mailing list.
    Example:
    data: begin of tstk2 occurs 0.
              include structure stko_api02.
    data: end of tstk2.
    data: begin of tstp2 occurs 0.
              include structure stpo_api02.
    data: end of tstp2.
    data: begin of tdep_data occurs 0.
             include structure csdep_data.

    data: end of tdep_doc.
    data: flg_warning like capiflag-flwarning.
       call function 'CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ'
            exporting
                 material   = 'MAT100'
                 plant      = '0001'
                 bom_usage  = '1'

            tables
                 t_stko       = tstk2
                 t_stpo       = tstp2
                 t_dep_data   = tdep_data
                 t_dep_descr  = tdep_descr
                 t_dep_source = tdep_source
                 t_dep_order  = tdep_order
                 t_dep_doc    = tdep_doc
            exceptions
                 error      = 1.

    HELP_VALUES_GET_WITH_TABLE     Show a list of possible values for F4 popup help on selection screens. This function module pops up a screen that is just like all the other F4 helps, so it looks like the rest of the SAP system. Very useful for providing dropdowns on fields that do not have them predefined.
    Example:
    tables: t001w.
    DATA: lc_werks      LIKE t001w-werks,
          ltab_fields LIKE help_value OCCURS 0 with header line,
          BEGIN OF ltab_values OCCURS 0,

  • Using Function Module in SAP Script

    Dear Friends,
    how can i use function modules in sap scripts?. i want to use call function SPELL_AMOUNT in sap script?
    in text element using perform statement hw can i use?
    Regarding i search related articles but, i am not getting any solution.
    Plz help Me.
    Regards,
    K.S.Kannan

    Dear Kanan,
    You can do it in two ways:
    Way1
    your Amount will be in some variable say VAR_AMT1 and want in words in field say VAR_SPELL.
    In your report program you can use the function module SPELL_AMOUNT and pass the  VAR_AMT1 to it and you will get the words in VAR_SPELL.
    So now in your sap script you can use the variable  VAR_SPELL to print the amount in words.
    we normally use this above method.
    WAY2
    You are inside Sap script and you can write the following code in the sap Script window.
    /: PERFORM AMT_TEXT IN PROGRAM ZF_REPORT USING &VAR_AMT1& CHANGING &VAR_SPELL&
    /: ENDPERFORM
    In the Tag Column when you press F4 you can see various symbols like
    /: =  ( / /= /( /: /* /E
    . Select
    In the program ZF_REPORT (any report) you should have the perform AMT_TEXT  where you should use the function module SPELL_AMOUNT to convert the amount into words.
    Hope its Clear.
