Hello i try to use another SIM card with my iphone 4s now it said i need to unlock the phone with my Sim carrier ... here is what it says below
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

So..  You need to contact the carrier for the iPhone's original sim card, and request they unlock it.  The carrier is the only one that can unlock the sim of the iPhone.

  • Can I use a virgin micro SIM card with an iPhone 4?

Can I use a virgin micro SIM card with an iPhone 4?

Everything depends on whether the iphone is unlocked or not and whether it's an ATT or Verison version.  Follow the links in the right panel, under "More Like This".
It would help if you indicate which country you're in.

    Hello SeamusFitz,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
In order to get your messages to show up on your other phone, you would need to have a backup of the phone with the messages, and then restore the new phone from that backup.
According to article iTunes: About iOS backups found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 iTunes will backup your Messages.
iTunes will back up the following information
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
This will help you backup and restore your device:

  • AT&T SIM card in unlocked iPhone 4 brings up emergency screen

Okay, so I bought an unlocked iPhone 4 in Canada (where I live)... came down to Florida for a few weeks and decided to pop in an AT&T GoPhone SIM card (pay as you go) after reading/watching the how-to process online. I should also mention that I cut my Rogers SIM card down to a micro SIM manually and had much success, so I cut the AT&T card the very same way; however, when I insert at AT&T SIM card into my iPhone, it switches to the "Slide for Emergency" screen, wanting me to connect to iTunes. In all the videos and walkthroughs I've gone through, no one has had to deal with this problem. Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

No you won't. Unlocking the GSM side of a Sprint phone will let you use carriers in other countries but not domestic carriers.

  • How do I save contacts on my Iphone  3 to sim card so I can use the sim card with another Iphone and keep all of my contacts.

My current Iphone 3 is not working properly.  My wife just upgraded to an Iphone 4.  I am planning on using her old 3 model.  I want to save the contacts on my 3 to the sim card and then import the contacts to "new 3". I cannot figure out how to save contacts from phone to sim card. can that be done, if so how??

Contacts cannot be saved to the SIM card on an iPhone. Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the comptuer. That would be Outlook or Windows Address Book, Windows Contacts on the Windows computers and Address Book on a Mac. There are also web based solutions such as Yahoo or Google. Contacts would have to be saved there and then synced to the new phone.

  • Why can I not use more then one sim card with my iphone?

I want to use different service providers.

Why is unlocking the iphone an issue?
It's not, if you bought your iPhone from a provider that offers unlocking.
AT&T have made a business decision to lock iPhones they sell to their network. That is their policy, and they haven't changed it for anyone. That is their decision.
If, for instance, you had bought your iPhone from O2 in the UK, you would've been able to get it unlocked, as O2 have made a business decision to offer unlocking to their customers if they want it.
Different mobile networks around the world have different policies on:
    a) whether to sell the phone locked or unlocked to their customers
    b) whether to offer after-sales unlocking as a service to their customers
Also, in some countries there are laws governing the locking and unlocking of phones. Networks have to abide be these local laws too.
Unfortunately, you didn't do any research on AT&T's policies before buying your iPhone for their network, which is why you are in this predicament.
Your only option is to sell your iPhone and buy one for the country you want to use it in.

  • How to use another SIM card with my AT&T Iphone

I have to go in france and use a French office' sim card from another provider than AT&T. But here, I've got all my professional, and private, mail box and conatct on it.
How have I to do in order to use this other sim card in my Iphone? I don't want to buy another cell phone for only few weeks in year !
When I was in france my provider was agree to unlock my old iphone before leaving the country. that's why that was easy for me to use it in US with an AT&T sim card. But now, they change my oldest 3g with a new one, it is impossible for me to have the same situation ...
and I'm a AT&T customer since more two years ...

There is no way to use a phone locked to AT&T with another provider.  AT&T does not unlock iPhones for anyone.  Ever..

I bought my iPhone 4 and iPad2 in Australia. I'm travelling to South Korea and Japan for two weeks. Can I use a local sim card with my Australian bought iPhone? If so, can I still link my iPad2 to my iPhone4 with a personal hot spot?

Only if your phone is officially unlocked. Is it?

It should work, You are going to have to contact AT&T and have the number ported to your AT&T gophone account.

  • SIM card with iphone?

I just bought an iphone, not knowing much about it. when I started experimenting with it, i noticed immediately that it doesn't take a SIM card. I travel Asia 3X a year, and my Sony Ericsson P910a works like a dream. Is there a way to have the iphone take SIM info from my phone accounts in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore?

Well, every one of the four major reviews of the iPhone published last Tues. night / Wed. evening mentioned that you cannot insert another SIM card into the iPhone. It does have a SIM tray (requiring a paper clip to open), but is locked to your iPhone-plan SIM card from AT&T. Some have been able to remove the SIM card and place it into another unlocked phone successfully. This allows you use a cheap phone and still use your account periodically if you are concerned about damaging or losing your iPhone under certain circumstances. The reverse is not possible, however. You are stuck with activating international calling on your AT&T plan and paying the international roaming rates as you travel.

  • Can I swap out a iPhone 4 sim card into a iPhone 5 with the same carrier?

Here is the situation.  I used to have Sprint as my personal cellphone carrier and just had bought an iPhone 5 when my employer put me on a business cellphone plan that they pay for.  They bought one of the bargain basement original iPhone 4 handsets (not to be confused with the 4S) for employees to use, also on the Sprint network.  The phone is owned by them; the plan is paid for by them.  We just get to use it.  As a result, I decided to just close out my personal cellphone account, even though it was a better phone.  I used my 64GB iPhone 5 as my iPod, it worked great for music, apps, books, etc that I needed, and I just used the 8GB iPhone 4 just for phone calls and text messages.
Well recently, with the 5C and 5S being released, I wanted to know if the iPhone 4 could be upgraded by my employer to a new handset, preferably a 32 GB 5C or a 16 GB 5S.  My employer has been slow to respond, because there are so many employee accounts to weed through and most are perfectly fine with an older phone.  I am not, because the new operating system is slower on an iPhone 4 than an iPhone 5.
I want to ask my employer if its possible to get the SIM card from the iPhone 4 just swapped out into the iPhone 5.  Is that possible?  I understand that there is a size difference in the SIM cards.  Is this something I could do myself, just pop it out and pop it in in the new handset?  Or is this something that will require going to my employer to do, or to a Sprint store and have them do it?  Do I have to be concerned with warranties being voided if I want to do this? (Keep in mind the iPhone 4 is my EMPLOYER's property, and they pay the bill as well.  My inactive iPhone 5 is MY PROPERTY and has no current cellular service.)

I want to ask my employer if its possible to get the SIM card from the iPhone 4 just swapped out into the iPhone 5.  Is that possible?
No, iPhone 4/4S uses micro-sim and iPhone 5/5C/5S uses nano-sim.
