Swapping iPhone SIM with a "Go Phone"

There are times I don't want to take my iPhone with me (to the beach, etc). I've heard I can swap the SIM with another AT&T phone, but I was wondering if it would work with a "Go Phone"? I stopped at the AT&T store in the mall, and the person said yes, but when I put it back in the iPhone, I would need to connect to iTunes.
Has anyone tried this and had it work?
Thanks

Well first of no you do not have to connect back to iTunes when you put the sim back into the iPhone, you have to connect to iTunes when you change the sim or the iPhone
I have not tried it with a gophone but I have tried it with a regular ATT phone and it works, like I said when you want the sim back in the iPhone you just put it in and you are good to go

iphone 5 will use nanosim instead of microsim so that one won't work
you could check you with carrier to see if they will give you another sim though but I dunno if the ATT 5 will have the right data bands so you might not get LTE or w/e

Does my Iphone 4G with Swiss Orange phone number work in Japan?

If your phone is officially unlocked, you can purchase a pre-paid sim from SoftBank & it will work just fine. If not officially unlocked, it will still work, but cost a small fortune as you'll be roaming. You'd have to setup International Provisioning with Orange before you went to Japan if your phone is not officially unlocked.

  • Iphone SIM usage to other phone

Hi,I got iphone 4 and would like to put its micro SIM into other GSM phone (with SIM adapter), can anyone comment if it will work. We have some restriction to use iphone @ workpace hence thought to use it differently. Thanks

Yes, it will work just fine. However, remember the iphone stores no data on the sim, thus your iphone contacts(unless already stored on the other phone) will not be present.

  • Can I use my iPhone SIM card in another phone?

While I save up to get my iphone repaired, can I use my iPhone sim card in my Motorolla Rockr (my prior phone) or do I need to buy a new one? ATT said the sim in my Rockr is permanently disabled...
I would just try it but I'm at work and don't have my iphone here. I want to pickup a sim card on my way home if I can't...

You can use the sim card from the iPhone in any AT&T phone.

    Try a Hard Reset,

    Hello CragA,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are having trouble pairing this bluetooth function to your phone.
I found this article for you named:
iOS: How to troubleshoot Bluetooth connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4562
Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth devices have a range of approximately 30 feet.
On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your device to attempt to connect it.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and locate the Bluetooth accessory you are currently connected to or attempting to connect to. Then tap and Forget this Device. Try to pair your Bluetooth accessory again.
Note: You may need to re-enter your Bluetooth accessory PIN if your accessory requires one. Some common PINs are 0000, 1111, and 1234.
Restart your Bluetooth accessory by turning it off and then on again1.
Update your device to the latest version of software. See how to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If your Bluetooth accessory has upgradeable firmware, check to see that you have the latest version1, 2.
And this section from down the bottom of the article:
Unable to pair to a Bluetooth accessory
If you see the word "Connected" next to a Bluetooth accessory in Settings > Bluetooth, your iOS device is already paired to a Bluetooth accessory. Remember, you can only connect to one Bluetooth accessory at a time.
If your Bluetooth accessory requires a PIN for pairing, be sure that you are entering the correct PIN1.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
    All the best,
    Sterling

    Hello jlgougeon,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.http://apple.com/itunes/download
Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Restart your Mac.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • When i decline calls in my iphone 4 with ios7 the phone blocks. I have to turn it off and turn it on again to unblock it.

I've had this problem with previous OS also. I get to annoying windows asking if I want to cancel, return or a list of available messages to send to the incoming phone number.

    Take a look at this

Pay particular attention to suggestion number 5. The one that talks about restoring the device using iTunes and using Recovery Mode if necessary. Most likely, that is where you are headed.

  • Sending a new iPhone Abroad with apps "pre-loaded", I don't have the SIM

    Hey,
I've just recently bought 2 iPhone 4S phones, white and black,
One is for me and one for my girlfriend which is now travelling the far east,
I have mine all set up just the way i want it, her's is still in the box,
I would like to send it to her but i would also like to install the applications that she is used too from her old iPhone 3GS,
I don't have her SIM card, she has the SIM card in her possesion now on the old iPhone 3GS she's currently using,
My Question is, Can i install applications on her device with her itunes ID (she gave me her ID) without a SIM card?
Or as an alternative, use itunes with her account logged in and choose apps to be installed after she starts using her device?
Another alternative would be to insert my SIM card (from my own iPhone 4S) to her iPhone 4S and set it up for her to use it?
While she travels she doesn't carry a laptop with her, so it's important for me that she will receive the iPhone with the apps that she asked me to install for her without the need for her to use a PC/Laptop.
btw, she has WiFi available freely where she stays.
Off Topic: I've upgraded from 3GS and the 4S is amazing so far ;-) so i bought one for her too.
    Thanks
    Avi

The problem you face is that you need a sim card to activate the 4S...you can't do anything with any iPhone until it is first activated. While you could use your sim card to do this, that won't really help her because the 3GS uses a full size sim & the 4S uses a micro sim. Thus, she won't be able to just swap her sim in the new phone. She could try cutting her current sim down, but if she screws things up...well she's got no service at all. If you got a micro sim for her & activated it, her current phone would stop working. Thus, I really don't see a good solution here.

  • IPhone SIM in Other Phone

    Hello
I'm thinking of getting an iPhone, and one thing I'd quite like which I've received several different answers for is the following. If I want to (occasionally) use my old phone (a Sony Ericsson K750i, so not a 3G phone) for situations where flashing an iPhone about is a bit risky, would it be possible to just drop the iPhone SIM into my old phone? The O2 shop said the iPhone will come with a new 3G sim which can be used in a non-3G phone, but reading around I've seen people having problems with this. Obviously I wouldn't get 3G functionality on the old phone, but all I would need is calls/SMS.
    Thanks in advance

No you can't. The iPlan is specific to the iPhone. In most phones, you will find that you won't get any data coverage with the iPhone sim, just text and voice. In some phones, people have been able to get some data access, but that is subject a charge per kb upon ATT's review. Some people are lucky and it's slipping by. For most people it doesn't work. And for some, they are getting back bills for the extra kb while using the other phone.
