Swapping phone purchased from Dell w/add-a-line

We recently added an additional line to our Family Plan, for my son. We did this through Dell (really, the transaction went through Simplexity, which also runs Wirefly), and by doing so we got a discount on a Fascinate.
My son decided he doesn't like the Fascinate and wants to swap with my wife for her Alias 2. Normally I'd just do a *228 swap but there's a clause in the Simplexity documentation that if you "transfer this equipment to another line of service after it is activated" they might charge the instant savings discount back to me.
Am I reading this right...that if we swap the phones from one number to another within our family plan, Dell/Simplexity will charge me their $300 fee?
Anybody have any experience with this? I asked their customer service about it already, but their reply seemed to miss the mark and the rep didn't even know about their "fine print" regarding the rebate charge-back. Anyway, I'm leary of just going ahead with the swap...

You've understood the situation correctly, if you swap the Fascinate to another line of service, even on the same plan, they will charge you the ETF outlined in their contract.  They can offer that steep discount over other Verizon channels (like this website and Verizon branded stores) because of the commission they get from Verizon, but if the phone leaves the line or any changes are made within the first 6 months, their commission is charged back, and they pass that loss on to you through their ETF.
Are you within their return period?  That's really your only way out until the 6 months are up.
I just received the phone from WireFly and did not activate yet. It was purchased at discount rate on primary line. Can I activate it on the secondary line and keep it at that number. I will keep the data plan on the secondary line
In their Instant Service Discount it's stated "You transfer this equipment to another line of service AFTER IT IS ACTIVATED", so there will be no change AFTER activation. Is this going to ttriger Verizon to notify them of change in service?

  • Trade-in eligible for phone purchase from Apple?

Apple website is showing delivery date of 9/19 for Iphone 6 while Verizon customer service said they can deliver by mid Oct. Can I buy my iphone 6 from Apple for a Verizon 2 year contract and still be eligible for the trade in promotion?

I called the local store and they believe I have to purchase the phone from Verizon. I spoke to verizon customer service and they said it doesn't matter where the new phone is purchased from as long as the service is from verizon. If someone from verizon can please confirm that will be great.

  • Cancel service/ETF question- phone purchased from Wirefly

    Hi,
I purchase a new Droid Razr in October through Wirefly.  My company recently switched from the blackberry to iPhone so I'm considering consolidating to just one phone.  Does anyone know what the ETF would be if I canceled my verizon account?  I see $175 & $350 listed but wasn't sure which applied if I purchased it through a 3rd party.
    Thanks!

For Verizon smartphones, ETF is $350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete (basic phones' ETF is $175 minus $5 for each full month of your contract term that you complete).
You'd want to check the agreement you signed with Wirefly regarding their ETF.  According to their website, you must agree to maintain your agreement for a minimum of 181 days after activation, otherwise there may be additional charges ($400).

  • Phone purchased from verizon new not working

iphone 4s brand new purchased at Verizon store keypad is slow and wont charge fully..kept one day and took back and they wanted to charge me again for another phone, wait for it to come in, then ship back the purchased one not working at all second day and wait for a refund of the 200+ dollars.  Will Apple store exchange it for me?

If it is a hardware failure and they have a service replacement unit available, yes they will. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and find out.

  • When I print to Acrobat from Quickbooks, Acrobat adds heavy lines.  Solutions??

When printing to file from Quickbooks to Acrobat, Acrobat has begun to add three heaviy lines.  Always in the same location; like three sides of a box.  Initially the application worked fine.  But since this problem started it has been consistant.  I have Windows 7.  Thank you.

This forum is for printing from Acrobat, not to Acrobat which actually uses Acrobat Distiller. I will move your post to the appropriate forum.
The problem may be due to Acrobat/Distiller or it may be the output that Quickbooks is generating.

  • Issues with my recent purchase of Dell Inspiron 15 3000 - 3543

re: Inspiron 15 3000 Series, Windows 7 Professional English 64bit (includes Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit License and Media)
Had it for a few days, main issues:
    1. really bad wireless connections (compare to my concern #2 this is still bearable)
    2. when I am away from my laptop for maybe 20 mins or longer, it would freeze and no matter what you do, it would not respond. I had to shut it off by long pressing the power button. My laptop battery setting is screen never off on battery. (not power saver so it should not go to sleep, even it went to sleep..it should wake up at some point doesn't it!! =0=).
Called dell tech support, they asked me to run a test and found out hardware were all ok.
Do you think i should return this? If so, please recommend another model. I need it for basic daily usage, I need to purchase from dell website as I have a $250 e-gift card. so any price as close to $250 would be great.
    Thank you !!!

A system failing to resume from sleep is a fairly common problem and unfortunately can be caused by any number of issues, and unlikely to be related to speedstep. Other than the poor performance issues already mentioned, this doesn't sound like an issue specific to the 3543.
While the call is out for the system to go to sleep all working processes are supposed to be stopped before the system is fully "asleep"  All it can take for one process to be running and not shut down correctly to cause the system not to recover from sleep.
Since it sounds like this is random that can make it even more difficult to track down the cause.  One thing to consider is what the system may have been doing prior to being placed to sleep.  If a specific program or device was being used just prior to the system going to sleep every time that you noticed that the system wont wake, there is a good chance that program is the problem.  Can you think of any common denominator, any specific program that you had running just prior to the system freezing?
When the problem happens, and you are forced to restart the computer are they any error messages and if so what are they?  If you haven't already I suggest running diagnostics they can possibly detect failing hardware.
Please let me know if you are getting error messages, and if there was any failures while running diagnostics.

No one here will help you violate iTunes terms of service or steal music.

It sounds like you and your husband are sharing an Apple ID, a version of iTunes on your computer, or both.
I recommend you share neither your Apple ID nor your version of iTunes.  You can still share music by using Store > Authorize this computer and enter your spouse's information.  But it sounds llike this sharing is the cause of your problem.

I gifted a ringtone to my sister that I purchased from the iTunes store, and it is on her phone, but we can't figure out how to get it moved to her ringtones.  Can anyone help?

Edit > Preferences.  Select the check box for Ringtones, this will add them to the listing in iTunes.
Not sure that really answers your question though.

  • I swapped my iphone from apple store india and my imei of iphone changed and i have lost the box and bill of phone , how can i get my old imei number.

I swapped my iphone from apple store india and my imei of iphone changed and i have lost the box and bill of phone , how can i get my old imei number.

Of course it changed. A phone's IMEI number is unique to each phone. The IMEI number for a phone does not transfer to another phone.
Since your iPhone was exchanged under warranty without having the box and bill for the original purchase, you don't need it now either. The exchange under warranty remains under the warranty for the original purchase.

  • I got an iphone from apple store US and am located in egypt , the device has hardware issues and need swap as stated by apple stor belfast when i was in ireland but they cannot swap it in EU as it is purchased from US , please advice

I got an iphone from apple store US and am located in egypt , the device has hardware issues and need swap as stated by apple stor belfast when i was in ireland but they cannot swap it in EU as it is purchased from US , please advice how i can get this swapped without any extra cost on me , this is really frustrating

The warranty is valid in the original country of purchase:
    http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-english.html
    Note:
    IMPORTANT RESTRICTION
Apple may restrict warranty service to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the Apple Product.
You will either need to find a local repair shop and pay for it. Or you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in the US and have them take it to Apple for evaluation and then have it shipped back to you. All this will be at your expense. Also note that Apple do not accept direct shipments.
