Swapping phones/numbers

I currently have two lines with Verizon, call them A and B. both are smartphones. I have available to me an old good ESN dumbphone from Verizon. What I'm wondering is this. Can I take the dumbphone, activate it on a postpaid no contract term(seeing as I'd be bringing said phone), and then swap the number from that to line A and vice versa? Basically I'm looking to get my number out of Verizon but I'm in a contract for another 7 months. If that's possible to do, could I then port out the no contract line C(with my primary number that was initially line A) and then also get line B out using the same method with a second dumbphone? In the end I'd want to have both smartphone numbers ported out and the new numbers not on smartphones/data plans but rather on dirt cheap plans for the dumbphones as well as no ETF? Is that doable or am I completely out in left field here? If it'd work would I have to still serve out the remainder of my contract? Thanks in advance for your help.

Your contracts are for your 2 lines of service.  As long as you keep those two lines of service and make your monthly payments, there is no ETF.  You can put any phone you want on each line.  If it's a smartphone, it requires a data plan.  If it's a basic phone, it will not have a data plan.  You can get the phones from anywhere.  If you bought them from Verizon, you would have to pay full retail price or sign a new 2 year contract.

  • Swapping phone numbers within plan

I have the Family Plan with four phones. We'd like to swap phone numbers between two of the phones, one is plain cell phone (no data plan) the other is a smart phone (with data plan). Since we'd have to switch the types of plans with the phone numbers, is there a fee to do this? Are there other options? Thanks!

        Hello aaamadre,
Thanks for posting. While there are no additional fees for swapping devices between two of your lines there is something to keep in mind. If you currently have a Smartphone with unlimited data and you'll be activating this device on another line that currently does not have the unlimited data plan you will have to select a current data plan on that line. Feel free to visit this link for current data plans: http://bit.ly/nYhzCD
You can also log in to My Verizon http://bit.ly/2jrhyT to swap devices between your lines. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • Swap phone numbers between two different accounts.

I currently have two phone plans and two phones. One is on my mother's account and the other is a new phone I just started on my Fiance's account. They are completely separate from each other. My mother has a plan she own's and my fiance has a plan she owns.
My question is; is it possible to swap numbers between the 2 phones? I want the number from my old phone that is on my mother's plan to be on my new phone that I just got. My mother plans on letting the other phone run out of contract and cancelling the line. I know I can swap the sim cards, but that would put my new phone on the wrong plan.

Why didn't you perform an Assumption of Liability (AOL) to transfer your original line from your mother's account to your fiancé's account?

  • How can I swap phone numbers between Verizon and T-Mobile phones?

I have Verizon and T-Mobile phones. My wife uses the T-mobile phone and I the Verzion phone. I was given a GSM iPhone 5 that I want to use on the T-mobile account, so I want to move the Verzion phone number to the T-Mobile phone and the T-Mobile number to the Verzion phone. I do not want to have to inform all our friends about the number swap. I also would like to maintain phones on different networks for reliability and connectivity assurance.
I called the Verizon wireless number and the person couldn't help me. The best I can figure out is to give up on Verizon and move the Verizon phone number to a new T-mobile account.
    Any ideas?

They are both 4g phones correct?  All verizon phones come unlocked.  If the verizon phone works with tmobile all you do is take the sim card out and stick it in the phone.   however when you do this it is going to erase everything on the phone so make sure you back it up before swaping sim.  As far as using the tmobile phone with verizon you would need to ask tmobile if the phone is unlocked

  • How to i wipe iphone4 totally clear and swap phone numbers as i want to give girlfriend this phone

i would like to give my phone to my girlfriend but dont no how to reset and change my existing number on this iphone4 so she can put her number on it

Actually, I suggest you do this:
On your iPhone 4, delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account, then turn off iMessage & FaceTime. Once done: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Once that's done, turn the phone off & remove your sim...then give the phone to your GF.
You want to completely disassociate this phone from your Apple ID first.

  • My wife and I want to swap her 4s for my 4 while a take a short trip out of the country.  We use the same email address for itunes but different for email.  Can we just change our phone numbers and email addresses so we get our own messages?

My wife and I want to swap her iphone 4s for my iphone 4 while I take a short trip out of the country.  We use the same itunes account but have different email accounts.  Can we just change our phone numbers with our carrier and change email addresses on our phones so we get correct messages, with out disturbing our other apps?

The email is simple. Just delete her email acoount on her iPhone and configure your account into the phone and then do the same for her on your phone.
The harder issue is that to switch the cellular phone service you will need to switch the SIM cards and the two phones do not use the same size SIM card.

  • I need to swap devices and phone numbers!

So here is the deal... My plan has four lines (my mother, brother, sister and I). My sister used my upgrade and renewed my contract in December (extending my contract 2 years), however I planned on dropping my phone line. So I need to swap my device and phone number with my brother since his upgrade is in about a week (01/26/2015).
I know that I can't explicitly swap contracts or phone numbers, but as long as my brother keeps his phone and phone number, and My family's plan can drop a line next week I am good. I would like to be able to take my phone number with me when I leave as well, but that is less important.
A customer service rep manager told me about something called a TNI swap but then he forwarded me to someone who told me I was in the wrong department and lost my call. Do any of you know what I can do. Thanks

Ive "heard" it can be done...and its very sneaky. Technically that line is under contract, so if you take the number it cancels the contract. You just cant switch numbers on a contract. So if you are tied to the number then take it and pay the ETF. Otherwise, have him have your number and you have his. Guess it depends how important it is to you.

  • Swapping Cell Phone Numbers Between Two Phones...

I hope someone can answer this question before I got ahead and order my iPhone 4 on the 10th.
Ok...right now I have my Incredible. I am adding the Family Share Plan in which I'm adding a second line to get the iPhone 4 for $299. My question is once I get the new iPhone 4 with the new number can I TRANSFER numbers where my original number I have NOW can be ported to the iPhone 4 and the NEW number goes back to the Incredible. Is that possible??? Thanks.

Yes you can swap the numbers once you get it. You can do it online, via #228 or a call to Customer Service.

  • Switch phone numbers with a family member on a different plan

    Hello!
I have a Verizon cell phone plan and my mother has a separate plan. A few years ago my mother got a phone that she absolutely hated so I agreed to take her phone and she took mine. What ended up happening is that she has a phone that I technically pay for each month under my plan and I have a phone that she pays for under her plan. We are both at the end of our contracts now but I want to switch the phone numbers to the proper plans so we pay for our own phones. This is especially important since she wants to cancel  her account and go to a different carrier but I want to stay with Verizon.
How do I go about doing this? If she cancels her plan is there a way I can keep the number but bring it to my account and how will this affect my upgrade? I think my mother would also like to bring her current number (the phone under my account) to her new carrier.
Thank you very much for any help you can give me!

        Hi irishpat87,
Let's explore options to complete the number swap! As indicated by others (thanks!), doing an Assumption of Liability is a way to accomplish what you want to do and since you are at the end of your contracts (as per your original post), contract length carries over as is. I trust that this will answer your questions fully. Please visit this link http://vz.to/187wQRK for details on the Assumption of Liability process.

  • Swap phone number between two lines at same proper...

    Hello,
I was hoping for some help in finding out if it is possible to switch our phone numbers around on our BT Business phone line to our BT Personal Phone line?
Thanks for any help/advice you can offer.

    Hi Keith,
Thanks for your reply. The residential line is not used for business and both lines are in different parts of the home.
    Cheers
It would be much cheaper to run your own internal extension wiring between the two rooms, and then swap them over yourself, provided you have the modern NTE with the removable faceplate on both lines.

I dread to think the sort of hassle you are going to get, trying to sort it out between BT Business and BT residential. No something for the faint hearted

  • Can I change phone numbers on an iPhone?

I just ordered an iPhone 5 for my wife.  I want it for myself, but I'm not eligible yet.  My wife is eligible, but she could care less what phone she uses.  So can I change the iPhone 5 phone number when I get it so that it is my number instead of hers?  And then would need to change my iPhone 4S from my phone number to her phone number.  Is that possible and does it cause any issues with apps or anything like that?
    Thanks in advance!
    Greg

You would have to talk to the carrier about actually doing it, but it is certainly doable (AT&T can do it over the air if you just call them) if these are both numbers on one family or shared account.  And no, the phone number will not affect apps or content - that is tied to your AppleID.
If you each have separate accounts it would be more complicated, as the numbers would have to be moved to different accounts.  Again, doable, but honestly, I would prefer to go into my carriers (AT&T) corporate store to do it - that way you have them captive until you are sure it has actually been successfully done and both phones are actually re-provisioned and working with their new numbers.
If you have iMessage accounts associated with those numbers though, before you swap the numbers, select the AppleID in Messaging and log out.  Then log back in (with the right AppleID) once the new number is programmed and it will re-associate the number with the right iMessage account.

  • Can I transfer my phone numbers from lg900g to apple 1phone 4

Is it possible to transfer my phone numbers from lg900g to my apple iphone 4?

Yes, but that is something you need to do with your carrier. It involves getting a SIM that's registered to the desired number(s) on the i4 and having the carrier update the IMEI associated to the SIM to that of the i4.
Just swapping the SIMs between the phones may work for a little while, if the chip fits both phones, but the carrier may block the number on suspicion of theft or illegal activity. Each phone has an unmodifiable ID number, the IMEI, that is tracked for use. If the LG is out of a mandatory contract period, the carrier will usually be happy to do the switch.

  • IPhone 5s outgoing call list unknown random phone numbers

I got a call from a friend yesterday, when I hung up it was a different phone number that what they had called me when I picked up the phone.  I checked my outgoing phone call list and there are a bunch of phone numbers from all over the country.  What is going on, the phone I got a week ago brand new from the local verizon store.

Had same issue as other weak and dropped calls. Sent me new phone but there ** means I will need to go to the store which I dread. Cannot remove sim card with paper clip. Geez I have had it with this upgrade!

  • Motorola V551 - Won't sync Phone Numbers

    Hi Everyone;
So I got a Motorola V551, paired it to my Mac via Bluetooth, and added it to iSync 2.2 . I went to sync, and only the Calendars were added, even though all Contacts was selected.
I went into MORE OPTIONS and Selected "Synchronize Email Addresses" and "Only Synchronize contacts with phone numbers", and all my contacts were added, only with email addresses
Then I deselected the "Synchronize Email Addresses" and just left the "Only Synchronize contacts with phone numbers" and tried to sync again. All my contacts were erased from the phone, and none were added.
So. Anyone else have this problem, and if you did, how did you solve it?
    Thanks

    I had a wrong setting
