Swapping Phones on Lines with Edge?

Will swapping phones on family share lines be allowed with the Verizon Edge program and if so how will it work. For example currently on a 2 line share plan, let's say line 1 was eligible for an upgrade but line 2 a few months away. Line would could upgrade and then swap the phone to line 2 but line 1 would have the new 2 year contract and 2 year upgrade date. Will this work on the Edge Plan? So using the same example, if I opted into the Edge plan on line 1, could I then swap that phone to line 2? The only issue I can think of is after 6 months if you want to upgrade as long as 50% of that phone is paid off, we would probably have to swap that phone back to that line since we have to hand in the phone when upgrading to a new phone. Hopefully this makes sense and can someone from Verizon provide insight on this and if it is allowed and will it work?

What a great question! Although this wasn't listed in the Frequently Asked Questions section http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/faqs/Equipment/vz-edge.html
You can only switch the phone to another mobile device number as long as the other line is on the same account.

  • Can you switch to alternate phone on line with edge payment?

I have a need to temporarily from time to time switch to an alternate phone on a line I currently have Edge payments on.  I will continue to keep and use the phone I'm making edge payments on, but if I take the SIM out and put it in another phone for a few days, will that affect my monthly Edge payments?  I won't be putting a different SIM in the phone I'm making payments on.
    Anyone have experience with this?

lewisr13 and mrhelper thanks for the responses.  To clarify, I have an iPhone currently on a line with edge payments being made on that phone.  I may temporarily from time to time need to switch to an Android phone on that line.  I would like to keep making Edge payments on that iPhone and not have to pay it off all at once if I switch to the other phone temporarily.  I have no plans to put the iphone on another line during that time and that Android phone won't be purchased via that line or any other line on my account.  It would be simple swapping of SIM from iPhone to Android phone and back.
I'm just trying to avoid getting hit for the whole cost of the iPhone at once and prefer to keep my monthly Edge payments for it...that's my primary goal or what I want to understand.

  • Email regarding upgrading any phone on plan with Edge program

Has anyone received an email in the last couple days telling them about the new Everthing Plan and an upgrade promotion that states-
And now for a limited time, MORE upgrades!
Through March 31, we’d like to offer you the chance to use Verizon Edge to add a line or upgrade any phone* on your account, regardless of current upgrade eligibility.  In addition to a great new phone, you’ll also get a $10 or $20 monthly credit for each smartphone on your More Everything plan under this program.
Stop by your nearest Verizon Wireless Store for a complimentary plan review and to upgrade today.
    * Upgrade any phone in good working condition that was not purchased through the Edge program by trading it in. Only phones activated prior to 11/13/13 qualify.
I went to the Verizon store and talked to Customer Service and even though I have 2 lines that were purchased prior to 11/13/2013 for some reason my account isn't flagged correctly for this new promotion so I've been denied upgrading both of my lines. Customer Service's only advice to me was to write a letter and mail or fax (yes, handwrite a letter that has to be mailed or faxed) to the Correspondence Team that would then contact Corporate to possibly fix this issue. Anyone have any other advice or are having this issue?

We just upgraded our plan to More everything plan and also upgraded 2 new phones on the plan and added a tablet...we were NEVER informed about this Edge program or it's discounts/deals that could be applied to our bill.  Shouldn't we be eligible for the $20 off smartphone/month?  We have been verizon customers for over 10 years and pay almost $200-$300/month!  We need as much shareable data as possible and unlimited messaging.  Please tell me what ALL of my plan options are and I need to know if we qualify for EDGE discounts!

  • Initiate a DATA call to a phone pstn line with N95

    Dear all,
At my last Nokia6600 I had no ptoblem initiating a data call to a pstn number to get a standard gsm 9.6k data line.
Just got the Nokia N95 and I can not find a single way to do this. Any ideas?

    Yikes.
Yep sorry but totally no way to do this on the N95. I have an unbranded unlocked Nokia generic model.
Now what you would normally do is the following...
    1. Go into menu.
    2. Go into tools.
    3. Go into settings.
    4. Go to connection.
    5. Go to access points.
    6. In here enter options and then "New access point".
Now here is where you would set the connection up. Where it says "Data bearer" you would normally get 3 options which are "Packet data", "Wireless Lan" or "Data call".
Data call is the one you want but the option just isn't there on the N95. Perhaps a flaw in the firmware or they just took it out because they don't see that much need for it any more.

  • Broken phone. Still in contract. Can I pay ETF and sign back up with Edge?

Please help me with the best option for my situation: I have a broken phone and about a year left on my contract. I ultimately would like to get on edge when I ge ta new phone. Would I be able to pay the early termination fee to get out of my contract and then sign back up with edge on my same family plan? Is there a better option for me?

        vette311,
Ouch, sorry to hear about your phone. Let's find out what the best option would be to get you into a new device. Is they device physically broken? Is there water damage to the phone? If you have insurance on the line you can always make a claim: http://bit.ly/07CrqPK
When are you actually able to upgrade on your line? You can always check that by dialing #UPG from the Verizon Wireless device. Or you can always log onto your My Verizon to check the date as well. Please keep us posted.

iphone 5 will use nanosim instead of microsim so that one won't work
you could check you with carrier to see if they will give you another sim though but I dunno if the ATT 5 will have the right data bands so you might not get LTE or w/e

  • Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same phone number?  Thanks.

Hi,  Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same AT&T phone number?  Thanks.

    Hi
There are always some wrinkles in this kind of change.  If you have a home security system like ADT they require a land-line for their system to work.  This less of an issue in apartments and condos - it's mostly a "house" issue.
Before you make the switch (and there may be a switching fee) just make sure you cover all the bases.
    Cheers

  • Can someone explain the more everything plan with edge up

I have a share everything plan with 4 smartphones and 6 gig of data.  we are soon due for upgrades due to our 2 year contract being up.  I am starting to do some research and am confused on how the more everything plan with edge up works.
    questions
    1.  do we have to buy new phones to get the discounts offered by this plan?
    2.  will my company discount still work with the discounts of the edge up plan?
    3.  my 4th device is a year oir so from upgrade elegability do we need to wait or can we put that device on the edge up plan now?
    4.  if we upgrade to this more everything plan with edge up do we need to turn in our old phones?
    any help would be appreciated.

Upgrading is always exciting, gbright! You can save up to $25 per line when upgrading with Edge. This does require you upgrading your device and accepting an Edge agreement. You will still qualify for your monthly employee discount off the More Everything access charges as long as the plan is $34.99 or higher. Each line has its own contract/edge agreement. You do not need to wait for the 4th line to be eligible to take advantage of Edge or the discounts. If you are eligible for the standard Edge, you do not need to trade in your current devices. You only trade in the devices when it is early edge. I can provide you more details in a private message.
I just sent you a follow request. Please follow back and send me this information in a private message.
    Thank you,

  • I have 2 lines with 6 total GB allowance. what are some of you guys paying with similar service if you dont mind answering.

im paying around 186 dollars monthly. i feel i could have a better rate but i get the run around whenever i try to speak with verizon reps locally where i stay.

    2 Smartphones on More Everything -  $40 + $40 = $80
    6 GB shared data =  $70
Total $150.  Plus taxes and fess - $170 or about that.  If either of the two lines is out of contract, you can save $15 for line that is out of contract (add the month to month discount).  If the phones are on the EDGE payment plan, you already get the $15/line discout, but you  have the added cost of the phone payment.  $186 is not out of line if you are on EDGE.

  • Swapping phones/numbers

I currently have two lines with Verizon, call them A and B. both are smartphones. I have available to me an old good ESN dumbphone from Verizon. What I'm wondering is this. Can I take the dumbphone, activate it on a postpaid no contract term(seeing as I'd be bringing said phone), and then swap the number from that to line A and vice versa? Basically I'm looking to get my number out of Verizon but I'm in a contract for another 7 months. If that's possible to do, could I then port out the no contract line C(with my primary number that was initially line A) and then also get line B out using the same method with a second dumbphone? In the end I'd want to have both smartphone numbers ported out and the new numbers not on smartphones/data plans but rather on dirt cheap plans for the dumbphones as well as no ETF? Is that doable or am I completely out in left field here? If it'd work would I have to still serve out the remainder of my contract? Thanks in advance for your help.

Your contracts are for your 2 lines of service.  As long as you keep those two lines of service and make your monthly payments, there is no ETF.  You can put any phone you want on each line.  If it's a smartphone, it requires a data plan.  If it's a basic phone, it will not have a data plan.  You can get the phones from anywhere.  If you bought them from Verizon, you would have to pay full retail price or sign a new 2 year contract.

  • IPhone 6 upgrade question - swapping phones?

Have an iPhone 5 with my line being eligible for upgrade, but want to trade in my husband's 4S (not eligible for upgrade until 11/14). Is this possible? Do we need to swap phones before I do this?

Hmmm? Interesting dilema - I see your concern.
Here is the statement/question regarding the trade-in directly from the Vzn website. The terms say you can trade in ANY iphone from any carrier - so it doesn't have to be the phone that is being upgraded.
Are you purchasing a new Apple iPhone 6 or Apple iPhone 6 Plus with Verizon Wireless and submitting a trade-in request for an iPhone (4, 4S, 5, 5C, 5S) that is in good working condition?

  • Swapping phone numbers within plan

I have the Family Plan with four phones. We'd like to swap phone numbers between two of the phones, one is plain cell phone (no data plan) the other is a smart phone (with data plan). Since we'd have to switch the types of plans with the phone numbers, is there a fee to do this? Are there other options? Thanks!

        Hello aaamadre,
Thanks for posting. While there are no additional fees for swapping devices between two of your lines there is something to keep in mind. If you currently have a Smartphone with unlimited data and you'll be activating this device on another line that currently does not have the unlimited data plan you will have to select a current data plan on that line. Feel free to visit this link for current data plans: http://bit.ly/nYhzCD
You can also log in to My Verizon http://bit.ly/2jrhyT to swap devices between your lines. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • IPhone 6 and Bluetooth phone connectivity issues with my vehicle: this is how I fixed it.

With so many threads on this topic, I wanted to detail the steps I took to fix my iPhone 6 Bluetooth issues regarding connectivity to my vehicle and handsfree calling.  My phone was pairing with my vehicle without a problem and syncing my contacts and call history but when I attempted to make a call (from either the phone or the vehicle screen) the audio went out and I could not hear the call either through the vehicle speakers or on the phone. The call was going through but I was unable to see it on my vehicle screen and/or hear it either the phone or the vehicle screen.
Based on my research and what I have learned so far, the people having problems are those who restored their new iPhone 6 from an iCloud backup from a previous phone, rather than setting up their iPhone 6 as a new phone.  I did an iCloud restore from my previous 5s running iOS 8.
First, I am a Verizon customer and I enabled Advanced Calling on my line.  After I requested that this feature be added to my line, under “Cellular” settings on my iPhone, I enabled LTE voice & data.
    Next steps:
    1) Unpair/remove iPhone from the vehicle;
    2) Forget/remove the vehicle from the phone Bluetooth settings;
    3) Soft reset the iPhone;
    4) Reset network settings on the iPhone; and
    5) Pair the phone to the vehicle again and attempt to make a call.
    If that does not work…
    6) Perform a factory reset, erasing EVERYTHING from your phone and set it up as a new iPhone rather than restoring from a backup.
Resetting the network settings seems to be working for some people.  It did not work for me.  I tried it a few times with no result.  I did the dreaded factory reset, paired the phone with my vehicle and had all of my Bluetooth functionality back and was able to use the handsfree phone with zero issues.
I was on the phone yesterday multiple times with Apple, Toyota Entune, Verizon and my Toyota dealer. Verizon blamed Toyota Entune, Toyota Entune blamed Verizon and my Toyota dealer blamed Apple.  Nobody had a clue how to fix this issue or what was causing it. I don’t know the exact reason why the previous iCloud backups are killing the Bluetooth connections, I just know what worked for me and I thought it was worth sharing.
    Good luck.

The new 8.0.2 update DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AT ALL. After you power off and on with the phone, same issue as the 8.0, all 3 of my cars lost Bluetooth connection and shows no signal at all.  Good job Apple, what a lousy update you guys did.

  • Is there a limit as to how many devices you can connect with Edge Inspect?

Is there a limit as to how many mobile devices you can connect with Edge Inspect?
Also, do we need a dedicated wi fi hub for all these devices? Are there any wi fi limitations with connecting more than 20 devices and connecting to wi-fi?
    Thanks

The free version of Edge Inspect limits you to connecting to one device concurrently. (You can certainly disconnect from that one and connect to another if you wish, but it's just one at a time.)
If you purchase an Edge Inspect subscription, or have a paid Creative Cloud membership, then you can connect an unlimited number of devices concurrently. (Note that I have seen up to 35 connected at once.)
For info on purchasing options, see this blog post: http://blogs.adobe.com/edgeinspect/2012/10/23/how-to-purchase-edge-inspect/
It does not have to be a decicated wifi router, although it certainly can if that makes sense for you. For example, at my home I have a single wifi router that I always use for my laptops and video streaming devices, with my desktop computer connected to the same router on Ethernet, and I can connect my 5 tablets and 2 mobile phones to Edge Inspect on the same router with no issues.
My router says it can support up to 250 connections at once (Ethernet + wifi); however, I have nowhere near that many devices so I could not put that to the test. I think a more reasonable limit is around 30; however, that is just based on having to share bandwidth. You might want to check what your router says is its limit.
Just keep in mind that the more devices you have downloading data, the slower the performance will be.
