Swapping the role of systems

Dear experts,
I googled quickly, but didn't find anything on that topic, sooooo...
Due to several development projects, running in parallel, we will have several development and quality systems,
which will then deliver transports into a single production system.
Due to various organizational reasons, we determined that it will save us a lot of work, if we make a development
system out of one quality system and put another development system in the place of this quality system.
Can you please let me know, if this is generally possible, what risks does it bring and what to consider?
Of course we thought about stuff like adjusting the transport routes, changing the roles of the systems in LMDB
of the solution manager, restoring the version database to the quality system, but what else...? Could someone
make a detailed list and give some detailed advice please ?

Take special care when you start changing the system where developers and customizing takes place, the version history for all objects in the Prod system will need to be ported to the target system.
Another consideration, my company decided to trash our original Dev system and build the new one with a backup of the Prod database; as you can imagine how much work that takes up front, the consideration thing is that I just recently found a reference to the first Dev system's transport domain after almost 2 years of being removed from the landscape. I also still have orphaned objects within SolMan for other systems that have been decommissioned with TechMon and managing systems.

"Object manager is not activated" simply means, that the SLD server is not started. So, please, first of all navigate to the SLD URL http://<host>:<httpport>/sld, login with an administrative SLD user -> Admininstration and push the star button.

How to change the ROLE: Integration server in business system in SLD

Hi,
I am facing error in communication, becuase the integration server has been attached to in correct business system with incorrect client (001 instead of 700).
In SLD, business system, 'integration' tab there is button "Associate with XI'.
I have selected the role as integration server for the corrrect business system and aslo gave the correct pipeline url for integration server.
When I press the button "Associate with XI" and Save nothing happened.
How do i change my integration server.
Please help.

I have checked the teachnical system and its of type WEB AS ABAP. and when i click on the business systems tab, there are two business systems. When i double click on the business systems
I realised that both the business systems has been defined with role: integration server.
IN one business system i can see that there is "associate with XI" button.
But when i want to chnage the business system with correct client 700 , i tried pressing the button after entering the correct pileline url.... nothing happens.....
Can you please let me know the procedure to chnage the technical system with respect to integration engine???
PLease help as our project is held up due to this.

Problem with uploading the role from backend R3 ECC 5.0 system

hi all gurus,
         i have created one role in the back end sustem and then assigned it to one user.
         Now i have created one system to connect that backend system and mapped one portal user to that backend system user then i tried fro uploading the role problem.
         Now after prosessing the role upload it will show the report with error for "PROCESSING ATTRIBUTES" as follow:

To avoid inconsistencies, all roles from which a role is derived are also downloaded. When you download composite roles, all the roles which they contain are also downloaded.
When you upload a role, all role data, including authorization data is uploaded from a file into the SAP system. The user assignments for the role and the generated profiles for the role are exceptions in this case. You must therefore regenerate the authorization profiles after the upload.

Issue with the ROLES in Precalculation of WebTemplate in Reporting Agent.

I am having trouble in understanding the functionality of ROLES and USERS in the Reporting Agent.
My goal is to pre-calculate WebTemplate,so the users can get the data results based on their ROLES.
-> When I select ROLES under Authorizations in Reporting Agent; my understanding was it will just pre-calculate the WebTemplate based on Roles. But, when I look at the job details its doing for the Users. I opted for ROLES because I have 10-Roles and 100-Users, so the job runs for only Roles.
-> I don't want to select the Users, as it will take longer time and uses lot of system resources.
Can I just run for ROLES, for that under Authorizations in Reporting Agent do I need to select Precalculate User-Specifically and Select ROLES or just selecting ROLES will do. I tried both, just selecting ROLES is not working and selecting Precalculate User-Specifically & ROLES is not yielding the required results.
Could you please throw some light on it, I am on BW 3.5 & SP15.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
If you choose the Precalculate by User option, all the data and HTML pages for the Reporting Agent setting are precalculated for each of the selected users in a single job. This applies in both the cases: Roles or users. When you specify a role after selecting the option 'Precalculate by User', the precalculation will be done for all the users assigned to that role and not the role.
Roles/Users is just 2 different ways of giving the user restriction. If you specify the roles, the system will precalculate for all the users assigned to the role. If you have few users for whom you want the precalculation to be done, then you can specify the user IDs. If you have many users assigned to a particular role for whom you want the precalculation to be done, then you can specify the role.

In my project I need to create a scenario from SRM ---> PI/XI ---> MDM.
I'm having the below queries regarding this scenario.
1) Do I need to download the "XI CONTENT for SRM SERVER and import it into PI server.

Mentioned below are the list of output medium for SAP SRM.

Whenever SRM want to send data to another system in XML format and if you are not using SOA then PI is very much required to transfer the XML data to the target system. When you integrate SRM with ECC 6 EHP 4 or higher version then many documents are transmitted in XML format only and XML document is sent out of SRM using ABAP Proxy.
Since the XML data is sent out via ABAP proxy you have to import the integration objects for SAP SRM into SAP NetWeaver PI. you can find the same in the below location.

     2) Define the role of the business system in the server that you want to see(Sxmb_Adm)
     3)Connection between Business System and System Landscape Directory.
     3a)RFC destination LCRSAPRFC of type T for SLD connection.
     3b)RFC destination SAPSLDAPI of type T for SLD connection.
     4)Maintain the SAP J2EE Connection parameters for LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI in SAP J2EE      Engine
     5)Maintain SLD access details in Transaction SLDAPICUST.

XI in the role of an FTP server

I am working with a FILE to FILE scenario using no mapping. I followed this blog: /people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/04/03/xi-in-the-role-of-a-ftp
This is currently working but, i would like to know if you guys know if there is a way to avoid the limitation of having the same FILENAME.
I mean, i would like to get a file with an specific name, process it (only routing, no mapping) and put this file in other system BUT with different name, or event with timestamp (in order not to overwrite files).
Any clues??? Any helpful will be rewarded.

Use the variable substution option in the receiver CC to give the file a name from the payload.....

XI in the role Of FTP

Hi all,
i have to use XI in the role of FTP for move 27 files wich are located in the same system but in diferent folders, and also has to be placed by XI in the same target system in diferentes folders. The Way that I´m thinking is creating one scenario for each folder source-target. But 27 scenarios look to much effort. has anyone thoer idea to do it the in the best way?

if files are big this will slow down your scenarios very much
I suggest creating of a java proxy (that you will invoke by abap report for example)
that will copy the file - without passing them VIA XI
it will be very fast
it will be very simple
it will not put the files inside XI - as you don't need that

Not able to change the roles through the ERM after uploading from ECC

1) We are not able to see any transaction data but we are able to see org values.
2) We are not able to change the roles from ERM.
