Swatch reset when quitting CP
1) I customized my swatch in CP8 - added about 20 colors that are specific to a client's branding.
2) I exit out of CP8
3) I open CP8
==> The swatch no longer has my custom colors.
I understand that I can Save my custom colors out to a .ase file and Load that file to get my custom swatch back.
My question is this; is it expected/normal that the swatch gets reset every time you quit the program?

A LOT of people are having the same problem...and remember its best to directly contact apple about the problem. Just a simple call is enough.

I updated to 10.7.3 today and I set Safari up. I turned off my computer and later when I turned it back on Safari was completely reset and all the settings I had set were gone. This also happens when I quit or exit out of Safari too. What is the problem, this is getting annoying because I have reset Safari every time I reboot my computer.

Disabling the Lion (v10.7) "resume" feature may help...

Hello;
I set the preferences of my Mail program (version 2.1.3) to erase all messages in the Junk mailbox when Quitting Mail. I did this for all three accounts I have set up. Unfortunately, Mail did not automatically erase the Junk mail. I set it to erase after one day, and again, the Junk mail did not erase automatically, even after several days.
Any ideas why this function doesn't work?1. Quit Mail.
2. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Mail/.
3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash (this is what clicking the Reset button in Preferences > Junk Mail does). If you see an LSMMap file there, move it to the Trash too.
4. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.0, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
5. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox folders and move these to the Trash. Note: As a result of doing this, all mail automatically marked as junk by Mail will be lost. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there and you want to preserve them, move them to another mailbox in Mail first.
6. Go to HOME/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox folders there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash. Pay attention to any legit messages that could be there, as in the previous step.
7. Launch Mail. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering again, and configure it however you wish. You may want to shut down the Internet connection before launching Mail to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just delete the MessageRules.plist files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it. -
I know click hold on and off then hold the menu and center button until the apple logo appears. I have tried this so many times and my iPod Classic is still unresponsive! I've tried plugging my iPod into my Mac, my wall charger, my ihome, everything, but nothing works. It won't connect to iTunes to restore or anything. I've tried leaving it unplugged long enough to let the battery die and then tried plugging it in, a method I've utilized successfully with other iPods but that didn't work either. I really just starting to lose faith in the quality of this product. The first classic I bought didn't work at all and I had to exchange it. This one I bought to replace my 5 year old nano and it hasn't even lasted 7 months! Somebody please offer me a solution and assure me that I didn't waste $250 on a crap piece of technology. I'm desperate!
Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.
Let us know how you get on. -
I used to get a dialogue box when quitting safari, which was useful if accidentally hitting 'command q', but has now disappeared leading to lost work etc.
Any idea why, or how I can get this useful option back please? Now resolved, after chatting to Apple online support, who said they'd not heard of this happening - solved it quickly enough though.
Anyone interested or suffering similar I was told to remove website data from privacy tab in Safari preferences. And yes, I'd love to know how it worked too.....
Great thanks to Apple. -
Media Encoder CS6 always crashes when quitting
I'm running Media Encoder CS6 (6.0.1.31) and it seems to open and a run fine but it always crashes when quitting the app and prompts to send a report.
The installer was created using AAMEE and I need to deploy this to all of our users so unfortunately a simple suggestion of "uninstall and reinstall" won't work for us. I need a solution that will work for the network deployed version we're using.
Thanks

We are running a commercial application on a Windows 2008 Server. After reboot, we cannot access the application because two services fail to start. The reason they fail to start is that the passwords to the local user accounts tied to those services have
either been deleted or reset to a different value. In order to restart the application, we must reset the passwords of these two local accounts, then stop and restart all the application's services. According to the application's maker, the accounts
must be local.
My colleague believes the passwords are being deleted or reset as a result of a global domain policy. Is this likely?
Assuming my colleague is correct, is there anything we can do locally to prevent these passwords from being deleted or reset when the server reboots? If not, what is the most granular change we can ask our AD adminstrators to make to the policy, so
that these local accounts are not touched at reboot.
Thanks.Hello,
have you configured the accounts to have the permission "Log on as a service"? I have seen that this is not given to the account and therefore the service fails to start.
Best regards

Photoshop CS3 crashes when quitting
Hello! My Photoshop CS3 started crashing when quitting. I have Windows Vista. When I click [x] to quit, a box appears saying "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working" with button "close program", and then some problem report thing.
At first I tried reinstalling the software. It didn't help. Then I uninstalled the whole Photoshop and installed it again. It didn't help either. Now I have no idea what to do next. Does anybody have any solutions? ThanksThanks for the replies.
I understand now that the procedure is probably the reason.
I was just experimenting as LAB colours are colours we see through our eyes, while RGB, CMYK etc are "computer" colours and so I use LAB colours a lot, before switching back to RGB.
I normally switch to LAB mode and click on the Lightness channel, then play with adjustments of that channel. This time I decided to mess around and see what would happen if I removed all channels except the Lightness one....
Converting to greyscale for me is not enough unfortunately and LAB B+W provides much better contrast and tone than hitting CTRL+Shift+U to greyscale.
Again, I understand what you say, my point being though that Photoshop should not crash because I incorrectly remove the channels, perhaps a warning to tell me I can't do it would be better.
I'll pass this onto Adobe anyway.

Palm TX does a soft reset when I tap on memos
I am new to posting on this forum. My Palm TX does a soft reset when I tap on memos or push the button I have set to memos. I also have had several soft resets occur after tuning the my palm on from the On/Off button. I have had Palms for the last 10 years. Never had this problem. The only problem I had was the On/Off button on The TX failed as a result this is my 3rd TX in the last 4 years. Any suggestions welcome. I was behind on syncing and my last sync was done about 1 week before this problem occurred. I really do not want to do a hard reset. This problem has been going on for a month. Can I just do an unistall/reinstall without loosing any info?
Post relates to: Palm TXThis question has been asked and answered many times here... Somehow, the memos database has become corrupt on the device. There are two ways to fix this:
1. First, open Palm Desktop and go up to Tools/Options/Tools Tab and click the Check Records button. Let it look for corrupt records, and if none are found then a simple fix is to set your HotSync Manager setting for the Memos app to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" for one operation.
If using Palm Desktop 4.x, change the conduit here: Click on your HotSync Manager icon in the tool tray, and select "Custom". Make sure your HotSync Account name is showing in the top window, then highlight the Memos app and click the "Change" button. Click the selection for "Desktop Overwrites Handheld" and click "Done". (DO NOT select the "Set as Default" box!) Now do a HotSync. Since you didn't select "Set As Default" it will only do the overwrite for one operation, then default back to "Synchronize".
If using Palm Desktop 6.2.x, change the conduit here: Click on the HotSync Manager icon in the tool tray, and select "Settings". Make sure your HotSync Account name is showing in the top center window, then click the "Applications" link in the left column. Check the box for "Show Details", Highlight the application you wish to change, then click the "Configure" button. Click the bullet for "Desktop Overwrites Handheld" and DO NOT select the "Set as Default" box. Now do a HotSync. Since you didn't select "Set As Default" it will only do the overwrite for one operation, then default back to "Synchronize".
Check to see if the HotSync completes without errors, and your Memos application is back to normal.
2. If the above does not fix the problem, then download and install "DBFixit" from Pimlico Software: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm The program will search your device for errors, and fix some for free. Others may require the purchase of a registration code, with the funds going to an animal rescue non-profit (Gorilla Haven).

Iphoto forgets everything new when quitting!?
Iphoto forgets any albums I make and any photos I import from camera when quitting.
I recently have upgraded to tiger btw, and this all started since upgrading to tiger which has caused a long list of problems..
I am fully up to date as far as software updates go.
I have tried trashing iphoto's preferences = no joy
Tried command alt at iphoto start-up = no joy (after watching the rebuilding for 15 minutes a message told me IIRC that it couldn't rebuild as the library or disk is locked.
I have found the new photos in the iphoto mess in the pictures folder of my user. I deleted them and their folders (the ones for each day, not the whole lib!).
I have repaired permissions, and tried command alt booting iphoto = same no joy as above.
Things I haven't tried - Re-installing iphoto, fiddling or deleting one or more of the various iphoto database type files, and shouting at my ibook/iphoto.
Backing up is impossible right now, my maxtor one touch died on me the other day and I need to talk to the apple store about a replacement or refund.Hi richard,
The iPhoto library in the finder is organized differently than with the open application.
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
About the iPhoto Library folder
Now that that info is out of the way, it does seem iPhoto is not saving the changes because you lost permissions somewhere along the line for something within iPhoto library in the finder.
To check permissions on the iPhoto Library folder in the finder, and change them if necessary, take a look at this screenshot.
iPhoto Library Info
Make sure the permissions are Read/Write for you and make sure to check the box at the bottom of the window. -

Ipod resets when selecting certain mp3 files
my ipod video 5th generation resets when selecting certain mp3 files ???? As well as certain video podcasts . Whats the deal anyone ?
Is Apple working on a "real" fix for this bug or do we have to live with limited use of our iPod resources?
No one on here really knows (the creators of the programs and software do not visit the Discussions), but Apple could possibly provide a fix in the future. It may not be very "high on their list" of iPod feedback requests of new features, and bug fixes, though, since this isn't an incredibly common problem.
If you'd like to add the the voices and tell Apple about this issue, let them know here on their feedback form: iPod Feedback

Components tied to scorecard "reset" when scorecard data changes
My dashboard is set up so a bunch of gages and charts are tied to a scorecard. The scorecard in turn has data that changes according to the selection in a label menu (two options: "Current" and "YTD"). I'm trying to get it so that the selection on the scorecard doesn't reset when the label menu selection changes.
For instance: you make a selection on the scorecard, and the charts adjust accordingly. Then you click on "YTD" and the charts reset to the data on the top selection of the scorecard, <i>even though your prior selection is still highlighted</i>; so if you're not paying close attention it looks like the charts are then displaying the wrong data. You have to click on the highlighted row again to get the charts to adjust correctly.
I'd like it so that either:
- The selection stays when you go from "Current" to "YTD" or vice-versa
or
- The highlight returns to the top row to correspond to what the charts display.
I thought the "Clear Destination When No Selected Item" and "Insert on: Interaction Only" options for the selectors would make a difference but they have no effect as far as I can tell.Just a few minutes after I posted this thread I figured out what was going on: I had a second scorecard and label menu on another tab that was pulling data from the same spot, and I had to adjust <i>their</i> properties as well.
Nothing to see here, folks! -
