Swedish letters disapears
Swedish letters disapears.
Hi.
I have a nice flash menu that I have used for some time. I
have used some swedish letters that do not show up in the swf-file.
These letter are, "ö" and "ä". The menu items is based on
Actionscript.
The files can be downloaded here:
http://guidelineflyfish.com/flash-menu.html
. I also uses this menu in norwegian and the letter, "æ",
"ø" and "å" works fine.
The swedish letters "ö" and "ä" was working for me
a year ago and then I was using Flash MX 2004 Professional an Mac
OSX 10.3.9
Now I use Flash 8 and Mac OSC 10.4.5.
I have tried Flash MX 2004 Professional an Mac OSX 10.3.9 on
my other HD, but the same problem apears.
I have tried to change the keyboard to swedish in the Control
Panel, but that did not help.
Someone that can help me?
Hope you understand my poor english.
Best Regards
Tom Løkka

those letters do not show up here either.
To make characters like that show up in Flash, you need to
use Unicode.

Reading swedish letters on serverside
Hello!
I have JSP-page with a selectbox (named sendmail) with an option "Gran Grdefors". In my HTML syntax
Gran Grdefors is printed "Göran Gärdefors " to get the right swedish letters.
My question is how will the string be parsed in setSendmail(String s){} in my Bean, will it be s= Gran Grdefors or s= Göran Gärdefors ?
Thanks in advance!Swedish letters are not displayed correct here but they are the strange letters in Gran Grdefors

Swedish letters å, ä, ö
I use common swe letters å, ä, ö in the pages names and then export them as html. I use DW do deploy
the pages at my webhotel. Now it seems the the hotel can´t read these letters. When I manually in DW change
the names of the pages taking the odd letters away it works.
It´s timeconsuming changing the names manually. Can it be done i Muse? Can the name of the page be other
than the link visible on the published site? If anyone knows how this can be done please help me. Should be
simple...This should work fine in Muse.
In the page properties dialog, if you click the metadata tab, you have options for 'page name' 'page title' and 'filename'.
These don't have to be the same, so if your webhost has a problem with a page named 'åwésømé' you can choose a filename of awesome.html. -
Swedish "åäö" letters in outgoing mail from E90
Hi
I can type åäö-letters in my outgoing mail on my E90 but when the recipient opens the mail the åäö:s is shown as hieroglpyhs, for instance &o7 or %ae.
Which setting is my E90 should I set to which alphabet-standard?

JohanHi,
I had the same problem with my E90 and the origional FW. With use of my Nokia keyboard I got proper characters on the small "outside" screen, but had to use - to get å on the inner screen. All this was solved when I installed the 300xxx FW. BUT, bluetooth was then ruined and has not worked since! So, update FW is you dare... This is really a problem for Nokia that they must solve. Mobile Windows is a good alternative! -

II would like to buy a Macbook Air with swedish keyboard in the US. Is that possible? How do I do that?
II would like to order it in advance and pick it up in the 5th Avenue store. Is that possible? How do I get in touch with the right people?
Grateful for any suggestions!

Dane here
Was just in Us and picked up a Mac Air. I had read that it was possibel to just use the alt+a/q/o for danish letters = åœø...and as you can see it works.
Im thinking something like that for swedish letters must excist?
ps. If you can get a hold of/borrow an american credit card through a friend ex, it is possible to get a refurbished one through the apple site to save more money. -
Install a swedish operating system on my blackberry 8900 curve
I just bought a blackberry 8900 curve in India. I'm moving back to Sweden in a couple of weeks.
I have two questions; Does the blackberry 8900 curve support the swedish letters Å, Ä and Ö? Or is it possible to install a swedish operating system on the phone?Virtualbox is one of the simpler programs to do so, plus it only costs the Windows license. Same with Apple's Boot Camp, but it requires using the special Boot Camp partition creator which could result in data loss if you aren't careful. See my user tip on the many various options available.

Hello,
I have a program that reads a few things from a file, where swedish letters like exist. The program reads this things from the file, which is a .php file, and prints it in a JList. The problem is that in the JList are not shown correctly. Is there any way to fix this? To specify which charset to use or something like that.
Thanks a lot!
Karl-JohanI see. I've been checking out InputStreamReader but I don't know how to implement it into my code. Anyone want to help me with this or give an example of some porgram that uses an InputStreamReader with defined charset? This is the part of my program that reads from a file:
BufferedReader inFile = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fileName));
while ((thisLine = inFile.readLine()) != null) {
"here I got some unimportant random stuff"
}Thanks a lot

How to convert US Keyboard to write Norwegian letters (æ ø å)?
A friend bought a MacBook Air in New York recently. The trouble is that we have 29 letters in our Norwegian alphabet, "æ ø å" in addition to the english ones. Is there any way to code the keyboard to write those Norwegian letters?
Grateful for all help:)Thanks, I am at least getting the swedish letters that way, but they are a bit different from the Norwegian ones. The norwegian "æ" becomes swedish "ä" and the norwgian "ø" becomes swedish "ö" which both are pronounced the same and understood also in Norway, but I can´t find the "å" that way.
By hitting the opt+1 I can get the copyright sign ©, and opt+2 writes ™ for example. Is there a way to code the options key to bring up those three norwegian letters?
Thanks again:) -
PHP and Actionscript 3.0 issue
Hi,
I have a MySql database with some content that I want to
access from my Flash movie through a PHP script. I actually get
things to work (sort of) since I can pass content from the
database, through the PHP script into my Flash movie - but the
problem is the formatting of the content being sent to Flash. The
string that I want to send is written in PHP (UTF-8 encoded) as
follows:
---PHP---
$file_list = array();
array_push($file_list, "å");
array_push($file_list, "ä");
$temp= implode(",",$file_list);
print_r("arrayen=$temp");
What I do (in this simplyfied example) is to create an array
and populate it with the Swedish letters 'å' and 'ä'.
These are just placeholders of course and are in my actual code
retrieved from my database.
So, "arrayen=$temp" is sent to my Flashfile, where the code
looks as follows:
---Flash AS 3.0---
var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
var vrequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
vrequest.url = "retrieveData.php";
vrequest.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
vrequest.data = variables;
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.TEXT;
loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
try {
loader.load(vrequest);
} catch (error:Error) {
trace("Unable to load URL");
function completeHandler(event:Event):void {
var loader2:URLLoader = URLLoader(event.target);
var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables(loader2.data);
trace(variables);
The outcome of the last 'trace' should be something like
"arrayen=å,ä"
but unfortunately it comes out as:
%0A%0A%0Aarrayen=%C3%A5%2C%C3%A4%2C%C3%A5%2C%C3%A4%2C%C3%A5%2C%C3%A4%2C%C3%A5%2C%C3%A4%20% 0A%0A%0A%0A
OK, I believe my problem is obvious - how on earth do I get
it right?
Thanks a milion in advance!
.cristianHi, and thanks for your reply.
Actually, I think I got it to work in a pretty strange way...
There was something dodgy happening in the PHP script,
something indicated by others in different forums (see some of the
comments further down on:
http://se.php.net/urlencode).
I read somewhere that PHP had an issue with urlencoding and one
solution was to urlencode twice. Having done that, things started
to happen on the Flash side, but there was still some strange
formatting going on. Eventually I solved it by changing my
flash_encode() to:
PHP Code:
// --------------------------------------------------- ENCODE
FOR FLASH
function flash_encode ($input) {
return rawurlencode(rawurlencode(($input)));
That is, using 'rawurlencode()' and no utf8_decode().
In my Flash file I then simply had to unescape twice:
AS Code:
function completeHandler(event:Event):void {
var loader2:URLLoader = URLLoader(event.target);
loader2.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
var variables2:URLVariables = new
URLVariables(loader2.data);
var temp:String = String(variables2);
trace(temp); // just to check the "raw" data
var temp2 = unescape(temp);
var temp3 = unescape(temp2);
trace(temp3);
The output is now as expected!
Please note that I am not very skilled in programming so if
anyone has a better solution please submit it. I'll use this for
now though

[SOLVED]Something wrong with Locale, "ÅÖÄ" doesn't work in terminal.
If you have this kind of problem stated above in the title, or similar, here is what I did...
Make sure you have correct locale, you'll need a UTF-8 one.
As stated in the install guide(or beginner's guide iirc) do the following:
Uncomment one of the locales in "/etc/locale.gen", it doesn't have to be language pacific if you're only after using UTF-8 which provides more characters than normal ASCII.
then run "locale-gen". Make sure to set your "/etc/locale.conf" to "LANG=en_US-UTF8" of course you can choose whatever locale you want not just "en_US-UTF-8". After that make sure to reboot, it may also work with just log-out and log-in again, but I did not reboot and neither log-out and when back in. If it still doesn't work, run "locale" and "locale-a" if the output is "C" in each column just redo what I stated above, if it still not work, then you have to consult the manual, wiki and if you don't find the problem use a search-engine and if you still don't find answer here on the forums, the people here is really helpful!
Last edited by kalle97 (2012-10-01 17:46:16)" Okey I uncommented sv_SE.utf8 in /etc/locale.gen ...
You're supposed to uncomment "sv_SV.UTF-8 UTF-8", then run locale-gen (with sudo), not "sv_SE.utf8".
That's what I did.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … ide#Locale
^ Except that you shouldn't use "echo" in this case. That command works well when you're logged in as root, but for sudo, not so much. Check the file with nano and you'll see that nothing changed. For sudo, use tee.
$ sudo tee /etc/locale.conf <<< "LANG=en_US.UTF-8"
Note: You don't necessarily need "sv_SV" for those characters to show up. Setting a "sv_SV" locale would make programs show up in Swedish instead of English - unless that's what you want. UTF-8 locales will cover those characters just fine (provided that the font from the terminal actually contains those glyphs, of course).
So you mean I can have en_US.UTF8 as locale but still write swedish letters? So the problem is with the font or somthing, not the locale?
If you still have problems, post the output of:
$ ls -l /etc/profile.d/locale.sh
$ curl sprunge.us -F sprunge=@/etc/locale.gen
$ curl sprunge.us -F sprunge=@/etc/locale.conf
$ locale -a
$ locale
Well, I did as the guide told about locale.conf, it doesn't seem to work, even if "locale" outputs correct info now, but I'll try with restarting the X server too, just in case..... -
E75 - Strange character when sending e-mail
Hi,
I have a Nokia e75 that sends strange characters when sending swedish e-mail.
This was sent:
Jag skickade ingen inbjudan till dej, men kollar så att den är kvar.
This was recived:
Jag skickade ingen inbjudan till dej,men jag kollar så att den är kvar.
Whats wrong?
- For your info this e-mail account is a company e-mail with exchange.
Thx
ChristofferThe e-mails that you send from your E75 are already encoded with UTF-8 (at least if they contain non-ASCII characters).
The problem is either being cause by an incorrectly set e-mail server (not likely), or by the e-mail client (or web browser) that you're using to read the message.
I've just tested sending an e-mail from my E75 (using an ovi account with Nokia Messaging) containing various non-ASCII characters (ä, ö, ñ, etc.) two different accounts (one of them was read using Lotus Notes, the other is a webmail account), and both display everything correctly.
If you can, send yourself an e-mail containing swedish letters to an e-mail account where you can view the e-mail in "source" form, and check if you see the following lines in the header:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
If you don't see exactly that, please look for lines in the header that begin with "Content" and post them here!
It may help also if you post details of how you are reading the e-mail (webmail, and if so, which browser; or an e-mail client, and if so, which; operating system, language of OS, etc.)
Good luck. -
