SWF does not work in PDF
I created a demo in Captivate and wish to put a link to it in my Framemaker document, which will become a PDF. First I import the SWF file into my Framemaker doucment. After the Framemaker document has been made into a PDF, I click on the link that should open the SWF file. I get a "Manage Trust for Multimedia" message. I click Play and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Indeed the PDF will swell. Essentially you are taking it and inserting it inside the PDF. This allows you to ship only a PDF to someone and they can read the content and view the SWF too. All from the PDF.
Sounds like you are wanting to insert some form of a dynamic link in the PDF so you have basically a placeholder that the user may click or something and watch the video play from a server.
I'm guessing you will need to ask perhaps in the Acrobat forum. Once you find out if it's even possible to do, then figure out what you have to do in Frame to make that type of coding result in a PDF created using Frame.

Hyperlink with tracking applied does not work in PDF
We use lots of web addresses in our advertising and generally the web addresses automatically convert to hyperlinks when we distill the files and make PDFs. Recently we've had two instances where someone applied tracking or justification to the line of text containing the url to make it spread across the page. When we make our PDF the url is not clickable. Is there anyway around this? We tried actually creating a hyperlink manually in InDesign by using the Hyperlinks panel and entering the address, but that didn't work either.

We'll look into that. We already do two separate PDFs for print and web, but
we are distilling both right now. Wouldn't be too much of a problem to
change to exporting the web version I don't think.
I did a test, just curious, is there a way to keep it from putting a black
box around the link on the PDF?

Distilled PDF uses Postscript which does not support hyperlinks and
interactivity. To make your hyperlinks in ID you'll need to export and check
the Include Hyperlinks and Include Interactiviity boxes.
Your printer doesn't need hyperlinks because they don't work on a printed
page. The requirements for print and interactive PDF are quite different, and
you may find you need to make two versions.

TOC link with a subscript character does not work in PDF

has anyone come across with this? A heading has a subscript character and when you generate a PDF, the TOC page has no link. Other TOC heading links work out just fine, but all these that have subscript, these do not.
I have used Save As PDF and selected even create named destinations for all Paragraphs. Usually the TOC works fine even if that is not selected. A link with subscript does not work in either case.

In user-authored manually-created hypertext links, sure. And in that case, we know that we have to re-apply the Marker to the various fragments of the desired text. I would not expect this behavior for a generated file where we have limited control over the auto-tagging.

It's not just format changes in body <$paratext> that break this. If you so much as apply a different format to the elements on the TOC Reference Page TOC (such as making the page number a different font), that breaks the HT of the page number in the PDF.

Well, Adobe might consider this to be an Enhancement Request item, but I consider it to be a defect.
Is there anyone who would object if the TOC entries had functional full-string HT links by default? If so, Adobe could fix the problem, and have an Update tickbox to revert to legacy broken behavior.
In any case, the Unicode solution is not really a "work-around", even though I put it that way. For anything where Unicode has a glyph that you would otherwise implement as FrameRoman with a Character Format, use Unicode. -
Scrollbar does not work in PDF documents
When FF opens an PDF document the scrollbar does not work. If it is a one page document I can use Page up/Page down to toggle between top and bottom of page. If it is a multiple page document I can use PageUp/Page down and the arrow keys.
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it works correctly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Touchup Tool does not work with PDF
I am creating my own pdfs and when I open in acrobat pro I cannot select my text using the touchup text tool. I can select the text when I am just using a cursor, but the touchup text tool cannot seem to find it. The pdfs I am creating are very simple, but they work for everything I need them to work for except the touchup tool. Is there some coding I have to put in to make the text editable? I used coffee cup web vide player to convert a movie to a
flash file. Everything works fine on my computer but the uploaded
html page does not run the animation... it loads fine the player, I
can see the buttons but when I press play nothing happens... anyway
the swf should work just for loading the html without even press
any button.
If I test the file on the ftp site it also works fine.

Page Break does not work in PDF report when deployed to App Server
I have a report with a PAGE Break before on a repeating frame that holds a matrix report. In reports designer on the PC, the report correctly shows the page break. When deployed to the app server, the report shows the page after the break superimposed on top of the page before the break.
The report has a repeating frame that spans both pages and holds the header information (page 1), and the matrix report (page 2).
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
DebCrystal Reports Designer 2008 and Business Objects Enterprise XI release 2 are not in the same suite release. You should use Crystal Reports Designer XI release 2 to connect BOE XIr2.

Link in pdf-file does not work on Ipad
With my site www.bartkuijer.nl I offer visitors the free possibility to see (and download) sheetmusic, from music written by me. These are pdf-files. But they can not only SEE the sheetmusic; the music on that pdf-files can also be PLAYED. That's done bij clicking on a link in that pdf-file to a mp3-file of the music on my site.
This works fine on a pc. When I try this on the Ipad of my wife it DOES NOT WORK!
So my question is: how come? And what to do to make this work also fine on an Ipad.
This is important for me, because I want this sheetmusic to place as Ipad-apps for free.It works!
But not with a pdf-file. The Ipad does not recognize links in a pdf-file.
Te solution is found by making a htm-file with emdedding a quicktime-player and images of the music. This is my first Ipad product. On a pc the player starts immediately; on the Ipad it has to be started.

Script that worked in CS does not work in CS4 - multiple open page, print , pdf export and close
I had a script that worked great for me in Indesign CS. But now does not work in CS4. Anyone knows what needs to be done to make it work again ?

First thing I noticed is the interaction level is set off. If you comment out this line
set user interaction level to never interact
you might be able to pinpoint the exact error -- ID will display a standard "failed" dialog, hopefully showing the line that it fails on.
A quick question: the script assumes two presets in your InDesign: one for print ("letter size") and one for PDFs ("pdf preset name"):

Do these actually exist in your CS4, with the same (non)capitalization and spaces? -
When trying to PDF a webpage into a PDF, it does not work, I go through all the steps as normal, and It does nothing. I can repeat my action, where instead of "printing" to adobe, it saves the file, which it doesn't save it at all. I can't even find the original in my work folder. I need to know how to stop this from happeing and get it back to the way it has been working he last 6 months since i purchased this program.

I've become increasingly frustrated with the ipad adobe app. I've subscribed to be able to convert my pdf files into word documents and it has yet to work I've paid for a service that does not work which in turn makes me a disgruntled customer to say the least very disappointed with such horrible service

PDF Portfolio does not work with iOS Reader 11.3.2 on iOS 7.1.2
Well this is upsetting. I created a PDF form with several pages of the same form (it's a travel log).
My hoping to use Adobe Reader to complete the form and save back as a week at a time won't work.
I created the form using Acrobat Pro 9 from CS5.
Does anyone know if a PDF form in a Portfolio should work with Adobe Reader on the iPad2/
Also, what can I use that works with forms as a portfolio?

I have a 5 yr old pdf made with Photoshop Album 2. The sound does not work and also an attached video does not play (only shows as a still image). This pdf used to work perfectly when I got it but since of course I have change computer, os and acrobat versions many times. I think it worked fine when using Windows XP, don't know which version of Acrobat Reader. Currently running Windoiws7 and Reader 9.3

In the Applications tab -- Content Type -- the "portable document format" icon is a Word 2010 icon (not Adobe), so selecting Adobe Reader or preview in Firefox as action does not work to display the PDF. I can see this Applications difference because my other Firefox laptop has the Adobe icon, and I can view PDFs. Essentially, a PDF is coming in as a Word document -- and the computer tries to open it up as a Word file.
How do I get the correct PDF icon in the Applications list -- the same way it displays (and works) on my other laptop.Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.7 ?
I think you need to add this to the list of applications and the action to take on the type of content. This can also be managed in the about:permissions page. [[Permissions Manager - Give certain websites the ability to store passwords, set cookies and more]]
