Swf files won't play, only 1 version of flash is installed and working per adobe website

When someone send me a link leading to an swf file, Firefox opens and flashes a blank screen. I've checked the forum and only one version of flash is installed. Flash is working based on the adobe site and non of them open. Here is a list of links:
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00622/beer_goggles_622180a.swf
http://www.jokeroo.com/bin/player.swf?5f9f_f369
I've looked at the about:config and about:plugins as menioned as solutions in prior posts but my configuration looks good. Any ideas?

Do you mean that Firefox tries to download the file to the temp folder?<br />
That usually happens if a file needs to be send to an external program. If a file is played embedded in a browser tab then the file should go to the cache.
You can try to uninstall and reinstall Flash.<br />
See Troubleshoot Flash Player installation for Windows: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
Flash Player uninstall: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (this will remove the Firefox Flash plugin and the ActiveX control for IE)

  • In Flash CS4 a generated html with swf file won't play swf

Using Flash CS4 and having the Flash plug-in ver 10 on my PC, the generated html file will not play the swf in the browser.
I noticed that the active-x javascript is now included in the header as well as the javascript portion in the body tag.
But it won't play.  I get the typical blank window in IE with the "X" in the upper left corner.
I don't have this problem with Flash CS3.
Any ideas what may be going on?
    Thank you.

I am having similar difficulty; mostly I am confused.
I want to open a flash video file in a frame within a webpage.
I have generated a Flash CS4 html and swf file. When loaded they play, but they play on a separate, full size web page, not in the frame where I want it.
I then generated FLV and F4V files but that doesn't work.
It appears that I need to insert the object and embed tags "for Flash Movies" in the html file.
Once I do that, do I go back to only putting in the html and swf files and create a link to the html file to bring up the video in the target frame?
What are the FLV files for?

  • SWF File Won't Play on Internet

I've been all over the internet finding the answer to my
problem. I have a website in which I've got two Flash movies that I
need to play. One works fine. I had purchased a flash template,
editted it, and published, no problem. The other, I have a photo
gallery template that I customized, but it won't play on the
internet, not even with the generated html file. Just a big black
square appears. Here is a url to the non-working one:
    www.atlantiswebandgraphics.com/ScottHambergArt.html
This is the html that Flash 8 generated. I did notice that
the publish settings in Flash 8 are set for "Default" and the other
Flash file that is working is set for "Flash CS4 Settings". When I
add that as a profile to the photo gallery, I get error
messages.I've got screenshots of all the settings in Flash, the
working and not working files below:
    www.atlantiswebandgraphics.com/images/WorkingPublishSettings.jpg
    www.atlantiswebandgraphics.com/images/NotWorkingPublishSettings.jpg
    www.atlantiswebandgraphics.com/images/NotWorkingPublishSettings1.jpg
This is the url to the working Flash file:
    www.atlantiswebandgraphics.com/index2.html
I might be giving way too much info, but I figure better safe
than sorry. And by the way, I'm really new to this (that's why I
    get templates).

I forgot to attach the code. Sorry.

  • SWF files won't play in Firefox

When opening SWF files from my computer, Firefox won't run the file, and instead opens a 'save' box so I can apparently re-save the file to my hard drive. This happens both when I drag and drop a file from Windows Explorer and also when I choose 'Open File' from the File menu in Firefox. This only started a few months ago and I haven't been able to find a working solution online.

When I Generate, the link points to file:///c:/users/...../www.[website
    address]file.swf
    <file:///c:\users\.....\www.%5bwebsite%20address%5dfile.swf> .  It's looking
for the file in the generated project, but it looks confused. J
I looked to see if I could import the files, but there doesn't seem to be
    any import for swf files.
Can I simply put them in the directory with the project files, and point the
    link that them there?
I don't want to publish to see what it's looking for when it's published,
since it's a client's site, and I don't want them to see something that
    isn't working.
    Thanks!

  • .swf file won't play on any in house computer except the one it was rendered on

So, I work in a company that does some animation. I handle the website and uploading our stuff to it. The animator upstairs makes the stuff. He rendered out the file as a .swf, a html and a flv. He says he did it the same as he always does it, which is fairly often and he is definitely competent. The file plays in the browser on his computer (a mac).
He transfered the file to several of us to test where the problem is. On mine (mac), two coworkers (also macs), and a pc the files do nothing when opened in a browser, blank white screen. The icons for the files are also just a blank page. We can all play the other .swf files from the website, both on the site and downloaded to our comps.
Flash player has been updated on them all. He has re-rendered them with different file names. We are transferring them over our network.
We need to get this animation on the web and I have no idea whats up with these files. Anyone got any ideas?

upload the embedding html and the swf and loaded files to a server and post the url.

  • SWF File won't Play

I'm currently trying to create a remedial class in Moodle. We
are using Adobe Captivate 2 to create example slideshows. Luckily
for me, some of the material has been created in D2L. There are
Flash items in a D2L course that I can use for my course.
Bottom line...I'm trying to copy some pre-created SWF files
from another source and paste them into Captivate 2 to create a
    slideshow.
I've downloaded the SWF files from their original folders and
saved them on my hard drive. Then I've clicked "Insert Animation
Slide" and selected one of the SWF files. When I play the slide, I
    get nothing.
I can't figure out what's happening? Any suggestions?
    Thanks! Tami

It looks like it's there, but it doesn't play.
I have the same problem when I try to insert a
Flashpaper2 file (.swf), supposedly compatible as it's made by
    Adobe (Macromedia).
When viewing the Project, I get the Flashpaper frame with
flashing buttons and a grey box below, but nothing works. I see no
picture/animation/doc and clicking on the box does nothing,
likewise the buttons. Have tried setting animation properties to
'bring to front', with no effect. Have tried with various types of
files, .docs, .pngs, etc. and it doesn't seem to make any
    difference.
Need to know what I'm doing wrong and how to attach
Flashpaper 2 files to a Captivate2 slide URGENTLY please, before it
    drives me insane!!!!!

  • Swf files won't play

Various .swf files have lost their icon & won’t open – I get “windows can’t open this file…. Use the web to find correct program OR select from a list of installed programs” if I select the first  get.adobe.com/flashplayer opens but even after downloading & installing the problem’s not resolved & the second option doesn’t list flashplayer. I’ve tried downloading shockwave, but it hasn’t helped.
These were running fine in a 'stand alone' flash player i.e. NOT in a browser
About the same time I suddenly got a problem with Adobe Reader X – I don’t want to cross post, but it seems unlikely that two adobe applications should suddenly go wrong at the same time without there being a common cause so I’m mentioning my post in the Adobe Reader forum – “AcroRd32.dll problem?”
    Any suggestions, welcomed; I’m stumped!
    Thanks

You cannot open SWF files with "adobe flash player install manager"; you need to associate it with the standalone Flash Player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

  • Flash (swf) files won't play LOCALLY

For a couple years now I've been making Flash demos that are
embedded in an HTML page, for viewing online. The exact same pages
also work offline, ie. from a CD, USB drive, or another PC's hard
    drive.
Suddenly, that just stopped working! I've done all the
troubleshooting and bug elimination I can do - there's no reason I
can come up with why the pages which preview fine off my authoring
PC and work perfectly when online, DON'T work anymore when the
exact same directory is taken to another PC.
All the referred links are in place, I can view the SWF from
USB when I drag & drop the file to a browser (so the plugins
are fine), I know the linking is correct, but when the HTML is
viewed locally from another machine, the embedded SWF just... never
appears. My old pages done the same way still work, but no new
pages do. I've compared code side-by-side and it all looks fine...
this page show the demo fine online...
    www.invmed.info/test/all_mono/e_demo_clrcassette_mono.html
...but when you download this EXACT SAME directory to another
PC, the Flash doesn't appear. Can anyone please tell me why?? Here
is the simple directory of files:
    www.invmed.info/test/test.zip

I FIGURED IT OUT! The AC_RunActiveContent.js script was not
being correctly pathed to by Dreamweaver, even when brand new pages
were made. For the script to be created the first time (and it
won't mention it again after that), you have to start a whole new
site. Once I did that, the clues finally started fitting together.
Found the code via search, fixed the offending path, and
    voila.

  • Swf file won't play automatically in browser

I am creating a website using flash, photoshop, and
dreamweaver. When I import my flash swf file into dreamweaver/save
it and then open in browser to see if my file works it does if you
right click it. How can I make it automatically load when my page
is opened? Do I need to give my flash file an actionscript to tell
it to play when the page is opened? If so what is it and where
should it be on my timeline? Please advise.

swf files will play automatically once they are loaded. this
may be an IE issue - you may need to use AC_runActiveContent or
SWFObject to 'embed' to resolve the problem.

  • Migration to IIS6 causes large swf files to not play

So I had a FLV that was being played through a SWF on one of
my clients sites. The server got upgraded to Windows 2003 and it
stopped working. I didn't originally create the SWF or FLV so I
wasn't sure what it was doing. I used FLV2SWF to convert the FLV to
SWF (the unlicensed copy) and it created a 6mb (truncated) version
of the file, and this file was now viewable. So I got the full
version and converted the entire FLV, and I still have the same
problem it looks like its downloading but then never plays and if
you right click on the player it says movie not loaded. If I just
create a link to the SWF and download it and play it local it works
no problem. You can see the non-working version here, in case this
    helps
    http://cwbtechnologies.com/about2.htm
Any help would be much appreciated. I have a feeling this is
something in Win2003 but I couldn't find anything on MSDN.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Thanks for the suggestion Pat.  I checked it out but I do not have any path issues.  The problem is ONLY with swf files that I have had on my website for a year.  They worked perfectly before December 3rd and stopped working after that time.  They still work fine if an older version of Flash Player is used.  I'm pretty sure that there is an swf file backwards compatiblity issue with version 11.1.102.55.  I have spoken with others who have the exact same problem.
I recompiled one of my swf files using the latest version of Object2vr and it will show properly on my site.  I am now in the process of recompiling the remaining 50 swf files in order to make my site work again.
I would still be interested in knowing if there is a fix for this issue other than recompiling the swf files.

  • Wav files won't play in Firefox 22

Wav files won't play in Firefox 22. Previous versions of Firefox are fine. Other sound is fine. I have the latest mac OS X. Quicktime is set to play wav files. I have the latest version of it.
Is there a fix for this?
Is there any other plugins I can install which will play the wav files?

Thank you for your response Alice.
    I checked about:plugins and I DO have audio/wav and audio/x-wav. It it QuickTime 7.7.1 I have.
In Firefox Preferences Applications Panel I do not seem to have the iTunes.Document audio/x-wav there, only the audio/wav and Waveform Audio.
Re the New Email Notification feature with my Webmail, this is not activated via a Firefox extension. I don't really know how it works but when I'm logged into my Webmail email account and a new email arrives, a wav sound is played to alert me of the new email. This has always happened with all previous versions of Firefox, just not since I updated to Firefox 22 but when I go back to Firefox 21, it works again.
I have previously asked about this with my Webmail company. They knew nothing of this problem. I have now asked them for a second time now that I know that it is only THEIR wav sound that won't play. Other wav files play OK with Firefox 22.
I do not know what is at fault - Firefox 22, QuickTime or the Webmail site but for the past few days I have frequently switched between Firefox 22 and Firefox 21. Each time the New Email Notification wav sound works with Firefox 21 and doesn't with Firefox 22 so that makes me suspect that somehow Firefox 22 is at fault.
But it is a mystery and I might be stuck with it - unless it disappears as mysteriously as it arrived with a newer version of Firefox or maybe even a newer version of Quicktime.
Thank you to everybody who has tried to help me.

  • SWF created in Flash MX 7 won't play in browser w/Flash Player 9

I just noticed that my website, which I made from a template
from templatesheaven.com, isn't playing in Flash Player 9 in a
browser. It plays in the standalone player for some reason, but
when I look at it on the web, it shows just the count-in (or
whatever it's called, the pre-load), but stops when the counter
hits 99% and the action never starts. The website is at:
    www.gwhitty.com
I built it using Flash MX 7, but for all I know the template
was made using Swish, which apparently causes problems with Flash
Player 9. Anyone have any other ideas? Still plays fine in FP7, so
I'm stumped. If I open my .fla file in Flash 9 and then export,
will that likely fix the problem? Any ideas appreciated...

  • MP4 files won't play in mobile browser?

I have a media file, MP4, which plays fine on desktop browsers.  But on the iPhone4 and on Android 2.2 mobile devices this media file won't play within the browser.  I get a broken link where the embedded video should be playing.  I am using proper object/embed tags per a previous successful attempt I made doing this and I cross referenced my classid to one that was posted online to make sure I didn't miss any syntax.  What could be going wrong?  Did I encode the mp4 incorrectly?  If so, then why does a 3gp file that I rendered FROM the broken mp4 play within the mobile devices without a hitch?
    Sincerely,
    markerline

Are you sure you have Photoshop Elements 8 and not Photoshop Premier elements 8?  I would have thought that MP4 files can be played in Premier elements (PE) rather than Photoshop elements (PSE).  PSE is for photos and PE is for movies and videos.
Perhaps you could try installing the trial version of PE13 to see if anything changes.  I am not into movies and all that so my answer is just a guess work.
