SWF insert to powerpoint

I am using Window 7 pro, 64 bit, PowerPoint 2010 and FP 17.The swf files are associated with FP17.  I have attempted to add a swf file into PP using both the insert video option along with the Developer method. The insert video option I get a black box and when I attempt to preview this I get an error message "Your current security settings do not allow this action'. When I open PP, the developer version shows only a white box. I have tried the following to correct this:
Inserted swf as video through Insert/Video ribbon
Inserted swf through developer tab
Changed security settings in Powerpoint to enable all x active and macros
Changes the registry lockdown settings
Updated both the flash player plugins and stand-alone player
Changed the swf file association to IE, Firefox and stand-alone player
Saved presentation as ppt, pptx and pptm
I was under the impression the FP 17 was going to resolve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

This isn't my area of expertise, but AFAIK, the issue with powerpoint was fixed in Flash Player 15.
Do you have the latest Flash Player for Internet Explorer installed?  Powerpoint is going to use an embedded IE window, so having the latest Firefox plugin wouldn't help you.
Inserting Flash into Powerpoint isn't my area of expertise, but we've been referring to this guidance, which seems really solid:

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 won't play .mov or .swf inserted in powerpoint

I have been using Quicktime in ppt for sometime and it always played video loops fine. I upgraded to 7.1.3 and I have all kinds of problems. I have gone under the Quicktime preferences and MIME files and activated video and miscellanous types. Once I close the window though it reverts back to default and I can no longer open mov or swf. Is there a way to save these changes? Secondly when I insert a movie into ppt now it does not work. If I just open the file using Quicktime it works but not when embedded in ppt. I have reinstalled Quicktime 7.0.4 and the movies work fine. The other problem I have is that I upgraded to iTunes 7 and it requires 7.1.3 so when I remove 7.1.3 I can't use any of the video features of iTunes. Does anybody have any work arounds. Very, Very frustrated In South Dakota

    Quicktime Kirk,
I have downloaded another persons inquiry because it is exactly the problem I am having. Here is his post
"I make movies of cells and convert them to quick time and insert them into powerpoint for presentations for conferences. I never had a problem with this until I upgraded to office 2004 and now many (but not all) of my movies won't play. They seem to be there but when I click play they go white as though there is only the first image. I had saved them as cinepak and or jpeg A usually with image J or older ones from the original NIH image and I can't figure out what the problem is. I even upgraded to quicktime pro to resave them as self contained but still they don't work when I insert them. I can play them all with quicktime player and when I make new ones now in image j I save them as video and that seems to work but it would be very difficult to go back and do that with everything. Does anyone know why or how to fix this?"
My additional comments would be I used the Sample_iTunes.mov from QT and it plays like a champ in PPT. My movies are all from 2004. When I save them in the QT 7.1.3 it doesn't seem to make any difference. The older movies insert into PPT as a QT icon with 4 color quadriant. Everything including .swf are now working in QT. Thanks for your help. When I go back to 7.0.3 they work but then I can't play my videos in iTunes unless I do an erase and a reinstall to get rid of the updated iTunes. Thanks

  • Tools to create a Flash 7 SWF file from Powerpoint for deployment to 4305G?

    Hi there,
    We are using
    4305G DMPs running firmware 5.2.1
    DMM 5.2.2
We have an internal customer who wishes to find a tool to create Flash 7 (or Cisco DMS compatible Flash SWF) files from Powerpoint to deploy to the DMPs. The customer is currently using a tool called iSpring to create Flash SWF files out of Powerpoint files, but this will not display through the DMPs running 5.2.1 firmware.

    What other options are available?
The underlying business need is to reduce the time it takes to create presentations for deployment to the Digital Media Players.
    Any advice much appreciated,
    Regards,
    Kathy

Not sure if this helps but I use Camtasia's powerpoint plugin to convert presentations that have animation into video files in either swf/flv or wmv format.  For standalone powerpoint presentations that do not include animations I simply use a program called PPTools which allows me to export high quality images from my presentations without losing any quality.

  • Swf insert streaming video

    Per adobe connect instruction http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402630.html
I should be able to play the streaming flv video embedded in swf object.
Followed exactly on the instrution and the swf streaming video didin't run in presenter after publish.
I created swf in flash CS3 and i able to view the preview of the video but inserted in presenter as swf didn't run.
Any advice? i have large video that i need to embedded into presenter slide.
    thx

Not sure why but it sounds like there might be something going wrong when you are creating the SWF.  There are a lot settings that need to be correct to Flash.
You can easily just publish the SWF in Adobe Connect directly.  That is what I do.  I do not think it is best to embed a large video inside Powerpoint.  I think it is better from a presentation point of view to have your Presenter course but have the video shared as a separate pod in your room.  That way the two are independent.  It's more efficient as well since your Powerpoint doesn't become huge in size. You can publish SWF and FLV video natively using the share document pod.

  • Swf issues in PowerPoint

I am working with a Captivate 2 file that I updated. Now when
I embed it into PowerPoint 2003, it does not work. (It did on the
previous presentation before this update) I deleted the old slide,
inserted a new slide, used the More Controls > Shockwave Flash
Object. Set Properties for: Embed: True, Loop: False, Movie: copied
& pasted the direct path, Player: True (for the file w/o
playback controls). This worked once upon a time, but it doesn't
    now.
So I created a published file that included playback
controls, embedded it, and it worked. However, I can't navigate
from the end of the swf to the next slide of the PowerPoint. Can
this be done? This is the preferred option, but at a loss as to
make the presentation continue after the movie.
I really feel desperate for help, as I've spent hours pouring
over the forum postings, Knowledge support, Googling, etc., and my
supervisor needs this asap. Yikes! I must be missing something
obvious. If there's anyone that can set me straight I would be very
    grateful.
    Christine

I see you have a solution, but I would try your original
    working swf file,
then resize it so that a small area of the PowerPoint
    background shows, say,
as a 5 pixel strip at the bottom of the screen. To move
    forward, click on
the background strip. If you find that too ugly, you could
    always simply
resize your swf in PPT so that there is an equal-sized border
    all around the
    swf.

  • SWF insert shows clear border in Safari, but not IE

    Hi...
I'm trying to fit a Flash project into my HTML page perfectly between images without borders to look like one big image.  It looks perfect in IE, but not safari.
I've spent hours researching but can't find a fix.  When I insert an SWF file into Dreamweaver, it's showing up with an invisible border.  That pad/border then shows up in Safari messing the whole page up... but looks perfect in IE.
    Here's the page....  http://www.bnbfish.com/History.html
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Man, I LOVE Thin Lizzy!
BUT, since I'm listening to them already (different song), I was confused for a bit when I suddenly started hearing that tune over the top. Please don't auto-start music on web sites - especially for a restaurant. BTW, do you have permission to broadcast that tune?
Sorry I don't have an answer at the moment. It looks bad in FireFox, too. My gut instinct is that you are designing for the broken browser first, then wondering why compliant browsers don't view it the same way. Pixel perfection is tough to obtain between browsers and operating systems, anyway. And I just had to close your page to stop the music mix.

  • Issues with simulations inserted into Powerpoint projects

When I import PowerPoint slides into a Captivate project, all is fine.  However when I try to insert screens from a simulation recording, the simulation screens that appear only display about 80% of the recorded screen capture.  I am trying to determine if this is a screen resolution issue, but this only happens with the simulation files.  I also have inserted a quiz in the project and it works fine.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
What are the Project Resolution of Parent and the Simulation Project?  Is it same? If it is not, please make sure that the following option is checked in Parent Project before copy/pasting slides from the Simulation Project to the Parent project.
Go to Edit>Preferences menu, Check 'Rescale imported/Pasted slides' check box in the Global: General Settings., and then try a Copy/Paste.

  • Unwanted space around SWF inserts

This seems pretty easy but I can't find the problem. I am updating older sites and re-inserting swf animations. On every site the header wraps around to a second row when I insert the swf. I have a link to an example page below. These older sites were built with nesting table and I am rebuilding them with div tags. I have checked the margins and padding, that all adds up, but the browser IE keeps wrapping the images. What am I missing?
    http://www.hoggysmarket.com/storeWindham.html

I see what you mean in Chrome, Safari and Firefox.  It appears that you are trying to measure it out just exactly and because of that, the browser does not see enough space, thus you end up with your current result.  I would recommend getting rid of the table and doing the following:
<div id="logobar"><div class="float_right">insert flash code here</div></div>....[goes on to menu bar code]
Then combine, img_3629, header_logo, and header_info into one image and do the following with your CSS:
    #logobar {
    background: url(path/to/new_logo_banner.ext) #FFF left top no-repat;
    .float_right {
    float: right;
That will align your swf file on the right, and put the background images as one image as the background of that header.  Should give you the result you want and eliminates the table from your header.

  • Photo Album Insertion in PowerPoint 2013

After creating a default template to change the default slide size to 4:3 (rather than 16.9), PowerPoint 2013 continues to insert image files onto a 16:9 slides when using the 'Photo Album' tool -- even if the default 4:3 template is manually selected
from the drop down box.  Perhaps there is another default configuration file that is utilized by the Photo Album tool?

I found a slight workaround for this problem. I too changed my default theme/template and was disappointed when photo albums were still created in 16:9, and was then further disappointed by the fact that when you subsequently changed the presentation to
4:3 using 'Ensure Fit' (maximize not an option as it crops), the photos/images were absolutely tiny.
    In PowerPoint 2013:
Insert a photo album. Select all the pictures you actually want and click create
On the Design ribbon, press Slide Size and Select 4:3
Click 'Ensure Fit' because you don't really have a choice as Maximise crops images.
Frown in digust at the tiny images that now appear on the 4:3 slide
On the Insert Ribbon, hit the down arrow on 'Photo Album' and select 'Edit Photo Album'
    Click update
Your tiny images will now be resized to make the most of the new 4:3 slide format
(depending on what settings you chose in the 'Album Layout' section of inserting the photo album, e.g. Fit to slide)

  • Inserting 4x3 PowerPoint slides into 16:9 video

I'm doing a multicam edit (two different camera angles) of a lecture.  The speaker used many slides, all of which are 4x3 format and have to remain in that aspect ratio.  (The slides are full of photos and images that can't be stretched or altered).
I've exported the PowerPoint as individual .jpg images, 4x3.
Right now, I'm inserting the slides throughout the video on a separate video track, then adding another track with a solid black background underneath (so that the lecturer doesn't appear on the sides of the screen underneath the slide).  It's time consuming because I'm cutting back & forth between two camera angles and also the slides.
Is there a faster way to do this, so that the slides fill the screen without having to manually add a background each time?

One other thing I do when dealing with this situation is to move the slide image to one side of the screen then resize the speaker so he/she is in a window on the black side of the screen that overlaps the slide image slightly.
Just watching a static slide for a period of time can be deadly dull.
    Have fun.

ps - I'd suggest exporting the powerpoint as tif files rather than jpg. FCP finds them easier to digest.

  • Quicktime insertion to Powerpoint

I am inserting movies into a powerpoint presentation. When I am in the editing window the movie will be present in an image with editing dots and at other times a different movie will be present with only the editing dots and no image. Movies are in the same format. Any reason for this?

I seem to remember years ago PowerPoint being reasonably happy with QuickTime movies (this predated Mac OS X), however a year ago I tried this with PowerPoint 2004 and gave up in disgust.
I used Keynote instead and had zero problems.
PowerPoint 2008 looks like it might be a lot better in this and other areas, and in fact looks the most improved part of Office 2008, however the rest of Office 2008 looks like sucking so bad that I would still avoid it like the plague.
iWork '08 (includes Keynote, Pages and Numbers) is an absolute bargain compared to Office

  • .swf embedded in PowerPoint

I have created a PowerPoint slide that has a .swf file embedded in it. When I view it on my computer, from which I made the .swf file with Flash Pro, it works just fine.
When viewed from another computer, it does not.
It will display a single frame of the .swf, and that's all. No animations work, not even the mouse-over effects of the buttons on the flash file.
In the properties box in Powerpoint, I have changed the Embed Movie option to True. The other computer has the latest flash player installed.
I'm really not sure what's going on here.
    Any ideas?

You would have to make copies of each chart with the items already selected. If you're interested on using a much easier application, you can use [XP3 BI Presenter|http://www.interactiveedge.com/products/xp3_bi_presenter_sap/xp3_bi_presenter.html],  that allows you to connect to SAP from within PowerPoint and create data-driven Excel charts and tables.

  • Inserting into Powerpoint

    Hi
I'm putting together a photo slideshow in Powerpoint for my sister's birthday party. Most of the photos insert okay, but a few are much too big and only show a part of the picture. I have tried cropping, then changing the size ratio in the Constrain pop-up menu, but it still only shows part of that photo too. What am I to do, to enable me to reduce the photo to show all of it please?
    Many thanks for any help
    Kathy

    Kathy:
Once you get the photo into the PP page, use the Size section of the Formatting palette to resize the photo down to a size you can grab a corner and resize dynamically.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Jpeg of time graph to insert in powerpoint and/ word

I new to Signal Express. I'm trying to present my data without exporting it to excel. I'd like to copy the portion of data visible in my time graph and export it as an image to paste within powerpoint. I'm sure this isn't diffucult, but I haven't been able to figure out a way. Thanks.

    Hi ScottJM
In the Signal Express 2009 full version as this link says “you can go to the Project Documentation tab and click and drag a signal into that document view. Doing so will produce a clean black and white image which can be printed within a SignalExpress report or copied in a screen shot for use in another program.”
