SWF into Acrobat 9

Hi.
This may have been dealt with by  another post but hey.
I cannot insert swf into a PDF using Acrobat Pro 9 . I receive and message "initializing authoring system" which  indefinately then when cancelled I get this message "cannot create the  movie annotation as the move could not be loaded. This can occur if the  file cannot be found or the URL is unreachable (make sure proxy server  settings are correct)."
Mmm, this ought to be simple right?
Dvir.

I understood my own problem.
I used some objects  that  i apply motion preset to them, and Acrobat 9 pro didn't seem to  like it.
That was a good lesson for me.
Cheers.

  • Embedding Captivate movies (swfs) into Acrobat 8 3D

    I embedded a swf movie (from Captivate 3) into Acrobat 8 3-D,
    but it displays as a black rectangle in Acrobat 8 3D, and a blank
    white area in Adobe Reader 8. The movie does play, but I'm trying
    to figure out why, if I have the poster setting correctly in
    Acrobat, I get the black rectangle and not a graphic of the first
    slide of the movie. (I originally posted this on the Acrobat User
    Community but haven't received a response (
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?pid=3093).
    I purchased the Adobe Technical Communications Suite, if that makes
    any difference.
    Thanks

    Hi GinaL
    You probably need to edit the settings of your Captivate.
    Select a loading screen that indicates your user should click. You
    can create your own. All you need is a bitmap image. Once you do
    this and republish and reinsert, the loading screen should appear
    and indicate you can click.

  • Captivate swf in Acrobat  Pro v9 (extended version)

    I currently do not own Captivate, but I was just able to
    embed Camtasia swf and Snagit swf into a Acrobat pdf file.
    In the new Adobe Presenter, I was able to preview those same
    files, but on publishing they would not play.
    It must be a pathing issue?

    You can actually save filled forms with Adobe Reader, if extended save rights were enabled with Adobe 8 Professional (when the form was created). I assume this feature is in ver. 9 also, but I haven't checked.
    This topic has a little more about it:

  • Swf into pdf

    Hi there
    This is my first post, so please be kind
    I I am trying to create a pdf with page curl as it is easier for clients to view a design than in a conventional pdf.
    I have been following the steps in this rather helpful video http://tv.adobe.com/watch/csinsider-design/indesign-creating-interactive-pdfs-with-page-tu rn-and-flash-animations/ and can create a working swf file.  I then place it in the document and export it as a pdf as per the instructions and the pdf it creates is blank
    Has anyone had any success with this?  Any pointers/common errors/stupid user issues to be aware of.  I am new to In Design too, so maybe I am doing something wrong?
    If all else fails how do I contact the guy who made the video?
    Thanks

    You will need to use Acrobat to insert a Flash file (pagecurl swf) into a pdf and have it function properly. There are some alternatives, send the standalone swf, but this requires recipient to have Flash Player to view. Upload swf and html to a site, if you have access, then send a link.

  • Index links  do not import into Acrobat 5.0

    I created a long indexed document in InDesign CS2, the entries appear in the index, and there is a ^ where each entry is marked as being in the index. I generated the index with the book (405 pages).
    When I export the document to .pdf using Acrobat 5.0 the Table of Contents works fine and when selected takes me to the correct area. When I select an entry from the index, I am taken to the 1st page of the Main Table of Contents (the first page of the document).
    I took the document into my personal copy of InDesign CS3 and import it into Acrobat 8.0. I experience the same problem but the TOC also does not link.
    Any Suggestions.

    Well, since you are the user in this user to user forum who has a solution... how about posting that step by step solution in case someone else ever does a search?

  • How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's inside other movie clip?

    Hi.
    I creating my first flash (actionscript 3.0) website but I'm
    stuck with a visual effect I want to create.
    I have a window on my website called contentWindow. Every
    time you click a button this window is supposed to leave the stage,
    load the requested content and return to the stage.
    The sliding window is a movie clip with 83 frames, 21 to
    enter the stage, 21 to leave the stage again, 20 for nothing (its
    just to simulate the loading time) and 21 to return to the stage.
    Now my goal is, when the user clicks on a navigation button,
    the window exits the stage, loads an external SWF with the content,
    and then returns to the stage.
    I've the "window" movie clip with an instance name of
    "contentWindow". Inside there is another movie clip with an
    instance name of "contentLoader". The content that the user
    requested should appear inside the "contentLoader".
    Now, when the contentWindow leaves the stage, I get this
    error message:
    quote:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
    a null object reference.
    at rwd_fla::MainTimeline/trigger()
    If I switch
    "contentWindow.contentLoader.addChild(navLoader);" for
    "contentWindow.addChild(navLoader);" it works fine, but the
    external SWF doesn't move with the window.
    How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's
    inside other movie clip?

    Hi,
    Recently, I have been putting together a flash presentation.
    And I am just wondering if the following might help you, in your
    communication with the said swf file:
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
    onComplete);
    function onComplete(event:Event):void
    event.target.content.thinggy_mc.y -= 100;
    Not the best example, but this allows you to target a mc
    within an external swf file. I think if you look up this code, you
    will have an answer ;)
    Kind Regards,

    In newer versions of Flash Pro, you can export to HTML5 Canvas, that's probably what they're talking about: Flash Professional Help | Creating and publishing an HTML5 Canvas document
    .FLV and .SWF are Flash formats that won't show up on iOS (or an ever increasing number of other mobile devices). Mobile Flash was killed by Adobe a couple years ago, so the number of mobile devices that can see it is dwindling rapidly, don't use those formats if you want your viewers on mobile devices to see your content.

    I have been creating forms in InDesign and pulling into Acrobat XI Pro to do form fields. My client would like to fill in the PDF form using Reader, save under a different name locally on their device, and redistribute. The problem I have is that, sometimes, they want to redistribute the form as Read Only. I know how to flatten the form on a mobile device, but uncertain how they can do that with a PC or Mac using Adobe Reader. I looked at FormsCentral thinking there might be a solution going that route, but don't believe there is. Any advice?

    FormsCentral won't help with flattening a form. You could set up the form in Acrobat so that the fields are set to read-only, using JavaScript. Not quite the same as flattening but it's the best Reader can do.
    Note that when Reader is used to e-sign a document, it gets flattened, but this won't be possible if you need to Reader-enable the form and under certain other conditions.

  • Possible to scan a document into Acrobat XPro,then replace part of that PDF with text or image file?

    Hi everyone,
    Is it possible first to  scan a paper document into Acrobat X Pro, and then to replace a "pane" or box within that PDF with a text or image file?
    Would it require  SDK and Javascript?
    Thanks,
    Rick Weinhaus

    CtDave and others:
    Here's the problem in more detail.
    I am a physician and I already have the ability to incorporate paper-based
    documents into an electronic health record (EHR) by scanning them and
    saving them as PDFs.  The documents are paper patient encounter forms with
    a different box or 'pane' for each category of data.   Each box has a fixed
    location on the paper form.
    There are three situations, however, where I want to have the option to
    overwrite certain boxes of the PDF with data generated by methods other
    than scanning.
    1) Insert text macros with variable fields using the electronic health
    record's software.
    2) Insert a drawing available as a pre-existing JPG or generated by using a
    tablet.
    3) Insert text generated using Dragon Naturally Speaking.
    For efficient office workflow, in all three cases the text or image to be
    inserted into the box or 'pane' in the PDF needs to be generated while I am
    still seeing the patient -- that is -- before the paper form has been
    scanned and converted to a PDF.
    The sticky note tool is one option, but I would want to be able to modify
    the default size of the sticky note so that it corresponded exactly to the
    size of the box it was 'overwriting.'  I can't figure out how to do this?
    Could it be done using scripting?
    Furthermore, I would want the sticky notes to automatically display when
    the PDF was opened, so that a hover would close rather than open them.  This
    sticky note method would have the advantage of allowing the user to toggle
    back and forth between inserted data and any original handwritten text.
    Any thoughts?

  • I'm no longer able to successfully import SWFs into AE

    Hi and apologies for the NOOB question. I've been searching for hours for information on this situation but have had no luck.
    I've been using AE CS5 since last year, primarily to convert SWFs into high quality MOVs. Everything was working fine until bbout 3 weeks ago. Since thenm whenever I import a SWF, it displays  in the Project area as a 72px black box without any data regarding dimensions or file size.
    I can open older files and everything displays fine, but if I try to import a SWF (or even one that worked before), it shows up as the 72px black square.
    I'm guessing that it may have been an inadvertant upgrade of some sort that caused this, but have no idea how to solve it. I'm running AE 10.0.2.4 on a MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo) running OS 10.6.8.
    If anyone can help me resolve this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    thanks,
    Mike

    Well, I've resolved the problem, kinda.
    I uninstalled Flash CS5 and AE CS5 last night, then reinstalled them. I then opened one of the AE files with the "junk" SWF in it, and nothing had changed.
    I then tried to import one of the questionalbe SWFs into AE on another machine and the same problem. But I could import a SWF made on that machine into AE (running on that system).
    Then I brought that SWF back to my system, and was able to successfully imported it into AE. I then imported one of the questionable SWFs made before the software reinstall, and got the 72px black square. So I opened the FLA made a new SWF and happened to move it to the desktop. I was able to successfully import that SWF.
    This is where it gets weird. I then made a new SWF and left it in the local folder with the FLA and tried to import it. black box again. I then drag-copied that SWF back to the desktop and I was able to import that.
    So at the moment, it seems to have something to do with the location of the SWF in relation to the AE file? That's the best that I can figure at the moment. Though I'm not sure why this would, or should, be a factor. I wish I had tried this before doing all the software uninstall/reinstalls… but I never would have thought that it could have been an issue.
    Thanks again for your prompt input yesterday.

  • Embedding Swf into to forum signature

    Hi, i have been trying to find this everywhere but no good.
    How can i embed swf into forum Posts and signatures ? Its my site s
    o i change settings etc.....is there some mod that should be
    installed on the forum ? Any help at all would be really
    appreciated =)
    J

    No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
    You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Embedding swf into HTML+JS AIR app

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed swf into HTML+JS AIR app with no luck.
    First, I created flash library with this class in default package.
    package
         import mx.controls.Alert;
         public class Utilities
              public function Utilities()
                             //asdfasdf
                   Alert.show("asdasd","");
    Then I compiled the project with Flash Builder and got library.swc as result. Then I extracted swf file.
    After this is added required code into my html:
    <html>
    <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRIntrospector.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.6.2.js"></script>
        <script src="library.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            $(document).ready(function () {
                alert('loaded');
                air.Introspector.logError("aaa");
                var v = new runtime.Utilities();
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    Then after I run application, I get error that result of expression is not constructor, function etc.
    Could you help me please?  Thanks in advance.

  • Loading an external SWF into movie?

    I am trying to laod an SWF into and empty movie clip using no
    human interaction. I.e the ovie laods once a certain point in the
    timeline is reached.
    Here is the code I have
    Can anyone help?

    i dont see how that code would work at all, to be honest...
    But, there are sooo many variations of a pre-loader, that it
    wouldnt surprise me if it did work.
    your formula is wrong. it should be...
    Math.round((loadedbytes/totalbytes) * 100)
    by your code i see that you are sending the playhead to the
    frame equal to the ammount loaded.
    In this case, you need the ammount loaded to be a WHOLE
    number, and not decimal numbers, as you can't say
    gotoAndPlay(5.22984749); for eg..
    ok this code should go on the first frame of the SWF you are
    loading into your main SWF.
    If its not there...it needs to be there.
    second: this pre-loader does what it's supposed to...but it
    doesnt specify the "who" part of the code.
    try thiese 2 alternatives..
    loadedbytes = this.getBytesLoaded();
    totalbytes = this.getBytesTotal();
    frame = int(loadedbytes/(totalbytes/100));
    if (frame > 100) {
    frame = 100;
    if (loadedbytes == totalbytes) {
    // this takes you to the next scene
    this.gotoAndPlay(5);
    OR
    this._lockroot = true;
    loadedbytes = _root.getBytesLoaded();
    totalbytes = _root.getBytesTotal();
    frame = int(loadedbytes/(totalbytes/100));
    if (frame > 100) {
    frame = 100;
    if (loadedbytes == totalbytes) {
    // this takes you to the next scene
    _root.gotoAndPlay(5);
    let me know how you go.
