SWF movie - initial ugly black frame, plus no loop?

Mac 10.4.11 Golive CS
I have fotonette.swf (flv.movie) inserted into a Golive home page (see test  http://www.artdesign.org.uk/fotonette/pages/fotonette_swftest.html ) and the initial show is a momentary black (sometimes white as well) area matching the movie size.
I would like the movie to show the first image (frame) rather than the black area. Also it does not loop even though it is set to do so in the Inspector palette, which means I am left with a black area where the fotonette.swf should be looping or if not finishing and staying on the last frame would be good.
In case its relevant - how I made movie/slideshow.
1 - Original made in FotoMagico.
2 - Saved as an fotonette.mov
3 - Dropped into Adobe Media Encoder and saved as a medium fotonette.flv
3 - Opened in Flash and change stage colour to grey 4D4E58 to match Golive page background colour
4 - Exported from Flash as a fotonette.swf (wrapper)
5 - fotonette.flv and fotonette.swf sits in folder on the GoLive site

After much faffing about I managed to find a solution in Adobe Media Encoder settings button which has editing sliders. A bit tricky if you have a sound track, but allowing for it in the original build file (FotoMagico in my case) is how I did it. With a clean cache I still get a momentary white image area when the page is first loading, (something I may post again) but no black start and end frames.

    Ok,
    I record a little movie about 378K of .swf ( it was a 1
    megabyte cap project file ).
The little movie plays back fine.
I take this animaiton and put it in my main capitvate project
file ( about the same size ).
    U publish my main project,
I run the output , when i get to the slide where i start
playing my little movie my little
movie goes blank at slide 17-- always that number.
I had this happen yesterday on a different movie.
I am using auto-recording and basically capturing unziping a
    file. No audio
    Any pointers appreciated,
    James

James, you are probably not allowing enough time for the
sub-movie to complete play - on the slide you have it placed on in
    the main-movie.
Check required time for the sub-movie (View > Bandwidth),
then give it at least that much time on the slide timeline in the
main movie and see if that helps.

  • CS3 and mp4 files, black frames

    Hi,
I am working as a reporter for the sports portal. So far I have been making my videos using Adobe Pro CS3. Previously I used Sony MiniDV Handycam and I had no problem editing them afterwards. Yesterday I got new camera - Sony XDCAM EX. When I import videos in my computer I have them in MP4 format. The first problem I had was that I could have sound for those MP4 files when I imported them in Adobe CS3 (if someone could help with this as well, it would be wonderful). I figured out how to get this sound but when I finally made my video and exported that, my new .avi movie had like black frames, it was dimming regularly like the movies they made in the beggining of previous century.

  • Media encoder inserts black frame at beginning, when converting my MOV file to H264 for YouTube 720pHD

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert my MOV file to H264, and selecting "YouTube 720pHD" (for Instagram) as I was instructed by someone at Adobe over the phone. But it inserts a black frame at the beginning or end. When I open the converted file on my desktop, the black frame is the first frame. After I upload to Instagram, the black frame is at the end. How can I get rid of the black frame?! Please help!

    Welcome to the furum, Forrest.
Hmmm. I don't recall hearing of that problem. There may not be many users who can offer a solution.
This workaround should work, however: Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player and remove the first frame. (I think it's only the first frame that is black, not the first second. Remove all the black, whatever it is.) Save the movie. That may cause QT Player to save it into a new movie. Use the modified movie for your Web site. QuickTime Pro is required — $30 from Apple.
Note that you've posted in the iMovie 6 forum, not the iMovie HD forum for iMovie 5. There are fewer current iMovie 5 users here. Most were iM5 users, however, so someone might remember this problem.

  • Black frame in embedded quicktime movies in Keynote when exporting to quicktime movie

I've included some quicktime movies made in Photoshop in my Keynote presentation. When viewing the Keynote presentation from within keynote, the movie play perfectly. However when I export the presentation to a Quicktime move, the first or last frame of the embedded movie is black creating a flicker effect on play.
The quicktime movies have been embedded as loopable animations using the animation build in function 'Start movie' (after transition with 0 delay).
Is there a setting that will prevent the black frame on export or is this a bug?

  • I Movi Doesnt export my project with quicktimebacaese of 'black frames'

    Hello there,
In I Movie I cant export my project to quicktime, because some of the fragments have a 'black frame' . Can I change that, so I an still export it?
Thank you in advance for your answer!
    Best Wishes Anouke

If you have Shared or Finalized your original project, you can use that.
If you used SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE or SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME or SHARE to iTunes, you can use those copies.
If you Finalized or used SHARE/TO MEDIA BROWSER, you may have a copy inside your project package. I say MAY because this may be the copy you are seeing when you say the whole thing still plays. But usually, when you start to further edit a project, the first thing it does is delete the Media Browser copy.
To see the Media Browser copy, (if any), go to the Movies/iMovie Projects folder in the Finder and look for your project. It should have your project name and the extension .rcproject.
The rcproject file is really a package, so right click on the rcproject file and select "Show Package Contents". Look in the the Movies folder of the package to find any existing copies.
You can import these files back into an iMovie event using FILE/IMPORT/MOVIES...
I would suggest copying and pasting to your desktop (or location of your choice) before importing.

  • Black frames on playback and render with .MOV exported from Avid

    Hi there,
some of our customers experience troubles while importing quicktime .mov files from last Avid Media Composer versions (latest 6.0.x, 6.5.x and 7.0.x versions).
Using any Avid codecs for export, when clips are played in AE, black frames appear on video, these are also present on renders and exported files.
Playing the same clips in other softwares and media players, the video is clear.
As we discussed with Avid support, Avid made changes in his software and codecs and it sounds like AE doesn't correctly interpret it.
Have you already heard of (or experienced) such troubles?
    Best regards,
    Sebastien GEFFROY,
    CTM Solutions.

I'm having the same problem, but can't get a clean render out using a different codec.
I was trying to render all my After Effects compositions out as Quicktime with DNxHD 120 selected.  This would give me random full frames of solid red.  Every single render.
So, I tried selecting Quicktime NONE and most of the renders would just abort with the bleating lamb noise.
So, I tried AVI uncompressed.  Every single composition rendered out, but every single rendered clip had exactly the same glitch - A solid black line that spans the bottom of the frame and increases in size every frame until it fills the screen.  Then the picture returns and a couple of seconds later a full frame black flash.  Same pattern and same duration - every clip.
So, if DNxHD codec has a problem and Quicktime has a problem and AVI has a problem I'd say it's safe to say that it's probably not a recording codec issue.  How can three different codecs present a problem?
I've checked my source files.  It doesn't matter what drive I place them one, either an internal solid state drive, or USB3 spinning disk in a caddy or network path to a NAS raid, or system drive, they give the same problems.
It doesn't matter what the source files are either - Tiff sequences from 3DS Max, JPG timelapse sequences from Nikon camera, video camera files, Quicktimes, AVIs, you name it - Broken renders.
So, I'd say that having tested my input files and tried many render codecs that the problem lies in between - Either the Computer or After Effects itself.
Now, up until Creative Cloud I was using my trusty old CS2.  That worked fine.
If you read the internet it's full of people having rendering problems when using CS6 and CC.
Now, in my understanding, the main difference between me using CS2 and CC is the Adobe software - GPU renderer.
I am using the exact same workflow on the exact same equipment:-
    HP Z1 Xeon E31280 @ 3.50GHz
    Windows 7 64 bit professional
    8GB DDR3 RAM.
    Nividia Quadro 3000M.
I'm close to giving up.  I'm going for a full system re-install, the gound up this bank holiday onto a brand new empty system drive.
I'll follow it with trying out various Nvidia drivers.
Can anyone point me to a definitive answer?  I have trawled many different forums, with people all having the same issues and no one has an answer.

  • Exporting movie I get a smaller video enclosed into a black frame

I don't understand why, when I make "export movie" for a clip in motion, I get always a smaller video enclosed into a black frame...
    What I miss??

I know you're talking about Motion 5 - I'm trying to find out if you still have Motion 4 (or earlier) installed?
Ok - those look like export settings, and I don't have any of the ones you list after Uncompressed — interesting. What I'm talking about are the Project Presets (Motion > Preferences > Presets pane)
All the presets with the lock icons are the defaults and that last one is a custom preset I made for 30fps.
Anyway - I had that same problem of the black border around exported video in Motion 4 and I believe Motion 5 will share the presets from Motion 4 if you had it installed at some point. The black border, from what I understand, was supposed to be a region of "overscan" that is typically used in television broadcast and would not have been seen over broadcast. Motion 5 doesn't seem to add the overscan which is what is leading me to suspect that Motion 4 is involved still. So, if you did have Motion 4, try going to:
    ~user/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Presets/
and zip the Project folder to back it up, and toss the Project folder in the trash. Restart Motion 5. You will lose your custom presets in Motion 4, but for some reason, trashing the old presets folder fixed other issues with Motion 5. If that doesn't work, you can restore the old presets.
I just ran a test out of motion 4 with Broadcast HD 1080/60i preset and the Info I get back in quicktime is:
You can see where the format is 1920x1080 (1888x1062) actual size in parentheses. I did the same test in M5 with the broadcast HD 1080 preset and it came back 1920x1080 actual... I guess you can draw your own conclusions. And, I may not know what the **** I'm talking about!!  Since Apple Pro video apps use Core Video, it might just be an OS thing, so maybe you should consider which OS you're running as well. It's been at least a couple of years since I had to deal with the problem. My workaround in Motion 4 was to create Custom presets that duplicated the features of the standard presets for 1920 x 1080 square pixels and an aspect ratio of 1.00.

  • What is the best format to choose when converting mts files to fit well with iMovie? I am using iCoolsoft for conversions and can pick from almost any kind of formats to convert to. I don't want to get the black frames... what do you advice me to pick?

I have lots of MTS files stored on an external hard drive that I want to use in my iMovie films. Now, as you know, iMovie doesn't like them. I have bought iCoolsoft for converting my video files into any format I want but now I've got another problem: what format is the best for iMove? Some of the formats I've tried are giving me a black frame around the video clips and some are bigger and other smaller but anyway I don't want them at all! Can anyone recommend what format to convert to to keep the original clip's size and no frames and still be liked by iMovie to be able to import them?
Much thankful for any kind of support and reply on this one.
    Eva

The format iMovie uses when you edit video after it's imported is Apple Intermediate Codec, it will have the file ending .mov but internally it's set so the Mac can edit individual frames easier and play them back easier at full speed. If you have the option of saving to QuickTime .mov see if there is a pulldown list of all the different "codecs", that's the style or flavor of compression applied to the video frames. If Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) appears on that pull-down list choose that as your codec when you save to .mov.

  • IMovie - adding a picture (without black frame below) in the very bottom of a video

    Hello iMoviers,
I'd like to add a picture on top of a movie. As far as I understand this can be done by using iMovie's picture-in-picture feature. The picture, however, is centered in a black frame.
    1) How can I position the picture on the ver bottom of the video, so that there's no black frame below or let's say the picture is not centered anymore?
    2) How can I get rid of the black frames and instead have the video placed below shining through? I saw some green screen approaches, but it seemed to be very  tedious workaround.
Thanks so much for any helpful comments,
    mikkolaus

depends on the version of iM you're using:
in older versions, the pic-in-pic was limited: it allowed only to insert content with the same aspect-ratio as the project itself = 16.9 .... if the pic was square, iM added 'borders' to make it fit.
    Work-around:
make your pics 16:9 by adding transparency, read this in the UseR Tipp section of this board:
How to create a pointer or a custom title
or, update to latest iMovie10 ....
here, a diff. aspect ratio of pic has no 'borders' -effect; .....

  • Black frames in QT after converting from HDV to ProRes 422

I've been making a movie, shot in HDV 25p. In the timeline, everything plays fine, but when converted to ProRes422 via 'export to Quicktime Movie', I get black (dropped?) frames every now and then, on an irregular basis. Can be every 40 frames or every 90, but they're all over the movie. Worse still: the last 10 seconds of the movie are 'lost' in the QT-version, it comes to a freeze frame while the sound runs on.
When I make the QT movie with a different setting (HDV-25p instead of ProRes422), the end is allright, but I still keep getting the black frames. Of course these black frames are visible in the movie, it looks like the movement stutters.
Also tried QT with AIC codec, but to no avail.
I never experienced this before, although I used this workflow several times.
I need to make a Bluray disk via Toast. Any suggestions of how to get rid of the black frames?

    Concertpix wrote:
...Now render before exporting to QT, I suppose?
You don't really have to. Exporting is kinda the same as rendering. Only thing is that if you do not render before export, FCP does not 'remember' this rendering.
If you think you'll needs parts of the render files later, you might render first.
Others in this forum do deliberately throw away the renders before they export, in order to avoid artifacts. Personally I prefer to see rendered footage before I export. I can see what I am sending to the export-application then. Haven't have any trouble so far.
    So. It's up to you.

  • "Black Frame" suddenly appeared

A black frame has "suddenly" appeared on my screen. It is about 1/16 in. wide, rectangular and about 3/4 the total size of my iBook screen. It will move (with my cursor), doesn't go beyond the screen dimensions and doesn't seem to affect usage other than being a nuisance. Wasn't there yesterday. Have worked with the posted "Universal Access" & "Voice Over" suggestions -- but that had no effect. I use OS-X and upgraded to version 10.4.8 which I downloaded today.
Would appreciate any ideas on how to retire my "black frame."
    Bob

It's ANOTHER "Universal Access" feature. Go to the "Seeing" pane and click the Zoom "Options..." button. Uncheck "Show preview rectangle when zoomed out".

  • Ugly black background in Mission Control

How can I change the ugly black background in Mission Control?  On my 27" screen it looks bad and reflects too much.

    Hi,
    My Normal Settings are.
    Left  gives me Dashboard.
Right  is normally iTunes in Full Screen Mode.
I run Messages with 8 or 9 individual Buddy Lists open as well as the Chat/Interface Main window.
If I set  the main Messages window to Full Screen then it will do so but the Buddy lists remain on the "central" screen (Space?).
The Main window has moved to the right.
If  go to look at Messages and then use the Dock > Mission Control icon the Messages app is still on view.
    EDIT
Or it was when I tested this first and made me wonder if this was what you meant by "background"
I repeated this to take a snap shot  and can only get my Desktop as the Background whilst the Dashboard, Desktop space and Messages spaces show across the top.
During the initial process I did change some things in the Messages > Preferences > Accounts.
I had spotted two were not Logged in and I also changed the Descriptions for them.

  • Output only with "black frame"??

Hi there, I am editing rendered animations from cinema4d, which are in the format 768x480 (image on the right). I´ve been trying everything to export them in exactly that format in QT. I can´t find any export option to get a movie with a screen that is 768x480. Instead it is 720x480 (?), but the moving pictures cover only the center of the final window and leave a huge black frame around it (image on the left). Even if I set compression to "none" (which seems the only way to edit the pixel size of the export format manually) the frame appears (and the movie is in a very bad quality).  I need the movie for a client who will present it on a Windows PC, yet I wanted to finish everything using QT and then convert the final QT into WMV by using QTpro. Can somebody help?
    Thanx
Premiere Pro CS4 on MAC OSX 10.5.8

What options does Cinema4D allow, regarding the Frame Size, PAR and CODEC choices?
I'd suggest exploring those choices, finding the best combo, and then setting your Sequence/Project Preset to match. Note: you may have to use the Desktop (Custom) Preset, and then adjust the various setting to match your Cinema4D footage exactly. Your Sequence/Project Preset (and settings in Desktop Mode) MUST match your source footage 100%, or you will get things like black bars.
Good luck, and PrPro should be able to accommodate you on the Mac, so long as the Preset matches your source footage, and you should have some control over that source footage.
