SWF Movie Not Active In Webpage Until Clicked Once

Hi All,
My friend is a newbie to Flash and I am helping her a bit
with creating a website.
She has created a Flash movie that is a pictue slideshow that
has a 'Next' and 'Previous' button at the bottom.
Everything work fine when playing the movie in Flash.
But when added to a web page, the two buttons to switch
pictures do not work until the mouse is clicked at least once
inside the bounds of the movie. After clicking the movie,
everything works fine.
This means that a visitor to the site will not be able to
ckick directly on one of the buttons but instead will need to do a
first click just to activate the buttons..
Does anyone know why this is happening and how it could be
fixed?

Empty the Safari cache more often.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Flash Player movies not activating in Internet Explorer

I had Internet Explorer 6.0 and now 7.0... same thing occurs
in both programs... PROBLEM: I have a very simple webpage with
Flash Buttons for navigation. When I load the page in IE, the
buttons are NOT activated. When I put my mouse over the control, a
message reads... "Click to activate and use this control". I have
tried to ENABLE every ActiveX control option I can find in IE
settings to allow Flash Player to run as an add-on. I have deleted
Flash Player and reloaded the page, it asks me to install Flash 9.0
which I have done. But when I load the webpage... the controls are
not active till I click on them to activate then I have to click
again for the navigation. I AM TOTALLY DUMBFOUNDED and pulling my
hair out to get these controls to work. They work fine in
FireFox... The HTML code is correct for the Object & Embed
tags. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! It would be greatly appreciated!

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Blank swf - Movie not loaded

When viewing a simple swf (1 chart, no data connections) in InfoView (or Dashboard Manager), i get a blank swf with the 'Click to activate and use this control...' screentip - but when i click the object it's still blank, Right-click gives me a (greyed out) 'Movie not loaded...' item and 'About Adobe Flash 9...'
the swf works fine in XCelsius preview or when saved locally
any ideas? cheers

Swf movie not loaded...

I have swf and html file in the same folder, but only show the background of the html and nothing else... right click and the message of movie not loaded show up...
only on line, in my c/ folders run perfectly well, but as soon as I upload them doesn't works, even if I only update the swf file ...

SWF movie not loading properly.

I decided to use a loader method for a flash project. When I load swf files from a folder on my computer into my main movie, it loads just fine. However, when I try to load the same exact swf files from a remote server, the script fails on me giving me an error like this:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Com@2f949bc9 to Com.
. I had imagined that this was due to security domains, so I had tried something like this:

-although everywhere states it should work.
I even have makeshift class files for those SWF's on the server with   Security.allowDomain(["*"]);
in their constructors, and still nothing.
What in the world am I missing?

I'm gonna spell this out sweet and golden, because with painstaking effort, I solved this problem.
1. When importing swf's that you've made from a remote site, and those SWF classes use custom classes, specific calls do not work:
For example:
var = classname(event.target(whatever you load)) // a cast like this won't work
method(var:className) nor will this work....
Instead:
Simply use: var = (event.target etc);
and
method(var:Object)
2. Furthermore, if you're testing files on a remote website in your flash API on your computer, please keep in mind that even if you update, change, or delete files on the remote server, flash has a recent history record or those files, much like a browser. Flash will not realize that you've changed those files until you've closed it down and opened it again.
3. Using remote files in the flash API, SecurityDomains etc are unnecessary. But when using flash player, you must use one of the several methods for Security Sandboxes.
I used:
Security.allowDomain(["*"]);

FLV movie not playing in webpage

Hi,
I need help here as I'm completely baffled.
I have created a. FLV movie which is placed in a webpage
created in Dreamweaver 8. I created the FLV in Flash 8 by importing
the Video and creating the Controls etc and placing all the files
in the same directory as the page.
On my own home computers, and also from the Hardrive, the
movies work fine.
When placed on the work intranet site, the page loads, but
the FLV file is just a white blank page.
Is there something that needs to be chnaged on the Webserver
to play FLV's or am i missing something here.
Any help would be appreciated.

Update:
Still cant figure out why the FLV file is a white box, but,
If I open the html page directly on the server it plays perfectly.
It seems to fail when opened from a linked page which is one
directory back.
for example I have a list of links on a page.
link one
link two
link three
each of these links target the html page in
Folder1/linkone.html
Folder2/linktwo.html
Folder3/linkthree.html
Each folder has its required flv file and swf file beside the
html file.
If I doubleclick the linkone.html file directly from the
directory, it works fine.
But if I click the link from link one.html the page loads
fine but the movie stays white.

So frustrated about swf movies not playing....any help?

Seems to be I have a very familiar problem with a multitude of similar posters and online questions about why a .swf project file will properly embed and preview within Dreamweaver CS4 when previewing in browser but when loaded to my server the .swf only shows a blank white box (empty skin). I have trolled posted for two days looking for answers and see several posts that talk about the same issue with several different apparent solutions and several that are never resolved.
below I will past my code in hopes that someone will see a problem and suggest a solution. please note that I have ensured that all my assets are on my server where they should be...so the `MOVIE`.swf, expressInstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js (both in a Scripts folder) are all there. The swf previews completely fine in both DWCS4 and FlashCS4 locally, but everything falls apart when it is on the server!!!!
Final note about my particular issue....the .swf I created in particular originates as two .flv movies controlled by button actions using actionscript 3.0 within my flash .swf. - I have an entirely different .swf project that involves no .flv assets that works flawlessly both locally and uploaded to my server.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HELP THEY CAN OFFER....THIS IS MADNESS......I specifically bought DW for it`s supposed great integration with Flash and am finding it is a lesson in frustration and not working.

Thanks, I think that might be the key here for me....
When I created the .swf in Flash CS4 I imported the .flv files as "load with external playback component", which seems to reference the oringal .flv files. Moving them or renaming them locally on my computer would render the .swf non-functional for movie playback locally...so YES I certainly do need .flv files for my .swf to reference as the movies are not re-encoded into the published .swf I do see an option to do this however so it is food for thought on if this embedded method may be better in my situation.
The thing remaing for me to fix now seems to be how to properly reference the .flv files on the remote server when they and the properly configured .swf file are all uploaded. I see how I can change the .flv source in the properties window within Flash but I will have to do a bit of testing to make sure that it follows a logical and working path when uploaded to my server.
Hope that all makes sense...if anyone has any input on how best to finish this up or suggest on if I am on the right path I'd love to hear from them!

Flash swf file not loading on webpage

Hi there,
I have put an swf onto my web page and everything works fine when i test it in my browser through dreamweaver.
When i go online to my website: http://www.organicgrowshop.co.uk/ it doesn't load
I have uploaded the two script files to my webhost. I have the latest version of flash on my comp. I can get an FLV file to load ok in its place.
What am i doing wrong??

Sorry, i have been messing around trying to get different things to work with no luck.
I did have the script files and the swf uploaded directly to my root folder, this didnt work so i tried making a scripts subfolder in my root folder to put the scripts in. This hasnt worked either.
The files are definitely in my root folder. Can you take a look again for me?
I dont understand why i can get it to work with an FLV file but not with the SWF file?

Button not visible in IE7 until clicked

Perhaps not entirely ADF-related, but we have a login page in our ADF/WebCenter 11g PS5 application.
In IE7, the submit button is not shown upon rendering the page, but suddenly appears when the form is submitted when pressing enter. Anyone seen this behaviour before?

It might very well be the same issue as described here:

if I check the source of the page in IE the button is there - I just don't see it. It might be somewhere off the grid.

NOOK Simple Touch says "Error Dialog: user not activated" whenever I try to open e-books?

I have had my Nook Simple Touch for about a year now, and I have been using Adobe Digital Editions without a problem. Now, all of the sudden, Barnes and Noble updated my software and I can't read any of my ADE books!! It just says "Error Dialog: User not activated" every time I click on them. I have looked at many other websites and I have tried plugging my nook in to my computer and reauthorizing it, reauthorizing my computer, deleting the digital editions file and .adobe-digital-editions file, redownloading my books, turning my nook off and on, crying, and screaming. The weird thing is, in all the instructions, it says a pop-up box will come up when I delete the files, but it never does. Is that normal? I always have to do it manually by clicking on the gear. I even made sure I "unhid" all the hidden files. I HAVE DONE EACH OF THESE AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND THEY NEVER WORK!!! HELP ME, PLEASE.
Also, a lot of the websites say to make sure your Barnes and Noble ADE I.D. is the same as the one on your ADE computer I.D.. Is the B&N ADE I.D. different from just the Barnes and Noble ID? Becasue I have been using my sisters email for my computer ADE and my email for the B&N I.D.. Are they supposed to be the same? If so, how come I was able to use it without a problem before?? I tried reauthorizing ADE with my email, because I also have an ADE account with my email, but then it wouldn't let me redownload my books onto the new account. Does this mean I have to change the ADE computer I.D. and wait until my books are available again to read them? Is that the way to fix it? UGH!

Just to clarify, there are two levels of Authorization -- one for the ADE software and one for the nook. You have to use your Adobe account to authorize both (and they have to be authorized with the same user name). It sounded like your original problem (Kcoline) was with the Nook authorization, and it was the same problem the rest of us were having.
To get your files back, I suggest carefully reading over the "Activation and Authorization" section of the ADE help. It appears that ADE will automatically find your files but note the "Note" in quoted text below...

If it's not finding your files, it may be because they're located in a folder different from the one that ADE is trying to use to find them.
You may also want to check the "Transferring items between computers" section, as this describes where the files should be located, and how to reimport them into your library.

URL not active in UWL

I'm trying to pass a URL from a workflow container to a task in the UWL. I can display the URL when I open the task, but the URL is not active. I cannot click on the link. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I understand this either. Is this you click on the subject of the UWL, and you are brought to another window where there is a URL, you click on the URL, and now you are brought to the page?

HT3149 iPhoto 09 When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into edit, it shows up black and the edit buttons are not active. How do I fix that?

When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into the edit pane, there is no image just a black square and the edit buttons are not active. A few images in an event will move to the edit pane but most will not. I cannot work with those images that do not enter the edit pane..no attaching to email, make a card, slideshow, etc.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
