SWF options

Problem: My 3 inserted SWF 's (30 fps) play too early in a
published version (viewing through Firefox). However if I navigate
directly to the slide it plays correctly (on start of slide, play).
It will only play correctly if I navigate from 2 or more slides
before or after the slide where the SWF is located.
Now there are two options for swf in Presenter:
Presentation Settings - Flash Files tab: Controlled by
presentation playbar
Preferences - Quality tab - Disable preloading of embedded
Flash movies
From my testing:
Neither are checked: I have the problem the swf's play to
early in the local published version
When only Controlled by presentation playbar: This does
nothing to the running of the SWF. Problem still exists in the
local published version
When both Controlled & disable are checked: SWF files
runs correctly in the local published version
When only Disable preloading is checked: SWF files runs
correctly in the local published version
My two issues are:
I still cannot control the playback of the SWF using the main
control bar (I don't want to include a seperate play bar within the
swf)....
When I use the 'Disable preloading of embedded Flash movies'
this will suffice for the very small swf's but what happens you
have a SWF at the end of the presentation that is eg 2MB, and you
are on dial-up??? Does this mean this SWF does not load until you
are on that slide therefore the user needs to wait about 2 mins for
the SWF to load or does it mean that the SWF will still load
(buffer) in the background but will not start until the user in on
the slide?
Any thoughts?

One other potential issue (at least is was for me)...
When converting your video file to SWF, you can also add a
stop on first frame option during this process as well.
For example, if you're using FlixPro, you'd go into the SWF
tab and select the "STOP action on first frame" option before you
run
the conversion.
This will allow then have the swf wait for a start command
from the main presentation...and should allow the tool bar to
control what is happening. Otherwise, at least it was the case for
me...the swf will simply start up early.
As for your second question...I do believe that this would
impact dial-up users as they'd have to wait for the swf to load.

  • Flash to swf options

Hi, I am trying to export my flash (CS4) file to an swf without having it contain the outside stage activity, I could not find those setting in the export options, does anybody know how to do that?

You can't do that.  If you are displaying the file in an swf player rather than via embedding the file in a web page, then the player should be sized to the dimensions of the stage of the file being played.
If you are viewing the swf directly in a browser, then your only option would be to mask the whole thing such that it only shows what is on the stage, which is not necessarily a simple task.

  • Help! No SWF publish option in publish settings in Adobe CC

Recently installed Flash CC but big problem. I'm on a Windows machine. I'm unable to publish anything but a javascript .js and html file, OR a JPEG. I need to publish SWFs! Why the heck is it like this? I've never encountered this before. See screen capture.
Ignore that the screen cap says Profile 1 - the Default Profile is identical. See how there is no publish options except for Javascript / HTML and JPEG?
I want to publish as FLASH (Swf) and it isn't even an option. Why is this? Even if I click the cog wheel.
    Please help this is work-related.
    Thank you.

If you want a SWF option you need to setup your project as Action Script 3 when you create a new project.  It looks like your project is setup as HTML5.

  • Exporting to SWF: embed SWFs on pages?

    Hi there
I've been experimenting with the export to SWF option in ID CS4. I was hoping I'd be able to place individual SWFs on each page of my ID document and then export the whole document as a sinlge SWF, giving me a nicely interactive publication. The SWFs that I've placed on the pages don't play in the final document, though.
    Any ideas about fixing this?
I've looked at all the Movie Options for the SWFs that I've placed and the options available at export and nothing seems to have helped.
    I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I was hoping to take advantage of InDesign's page transitions to present the SWFs, but it looks like I may have to work out how to do it all in Flash instead.
I do a lot of Flash work but have only briefly experimented with the ID exporter, so there could be something I'm missing. I'm guessing to get what you are after to work will be difficult depending on your ActionScript skills. Unfortunately when you export an fla, the fla does not include the transition code—your pages get placed sequentially on the timeline with no transitions. There is the bitmap representation of the swf and it wouldn't take much to load your swfs into position, but you'll have to build your own page flip transitions.

  • Psd to swf

Imageready CS2 had a fantastic export to swf option that as far as I can tell has completely dissapeared. Can we please get this back? It allowed you to take vector based layers in photoshop (with solid fills) right into flash and maintain full editablity. Although it is nice that you can now open PSDs directly in Flash if you do open a vector based shape it now gives you the path as a mask and then rasterizes the fill. Its crazy! You end up with a folder full of un-editable raster fills and file sizes almost 5 times as big. I realize the other option is to take a PSD through Illustrator but the process is much slower (seconds become minutes) and both the document size and the grouping of layers gets messed up. Please help.

There is a few ways you can do this.  First of all I'm assuming you know that the Image Ready Animation features are all in the Window  -> Animation tab.  From there, you can choose File -> Export -> Render Video... and choose either an actual video file, which could then be made into an .FLV for flash,  or export as a JPG/GIF Sequence which could be imported to the Flash timeline.
    Hope this helps!
    Jesse
EDIT: Just noticed you were wanting it exported as a compiled .swf.  Sorry, I believe that was only with Fireworks that you could do that... i think FLV is your best bet for filesize now anyway.

  • Cannot import a swf file

Hello - I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm using Powerpoint
2007 and adobe presenter. I've created SWF files in both captivate
and camtasia. So when I try to import the swf into powerpoint using
presenter, nothing happens. I click import swf, choose the file, if
I click the preview button I can see it, but when I click "open" it
does not attach to the slide. I can't see if it I preview the
presentation and there is nothing in the manage swf option either.
I am at a total loss so any advice would be helpful.

should anyone else have this problem ... it turns out I needed to upgrade PanoPlayer

  • SWF security settings seem to have no effect

Here is the location to which I publish my Captivate 5 output.
And here is how my flash security settings are configured. I've included the publishing location in the trusted locations collection.
After publishing (html output option and swf option chosen) I runthe output in the Flash Player, by directly selecting the output swf, and are rewarded with this message.
The published swf is self contained and does not call any external resource.
The behaviour occurs every time the swf is opened, irrespective of the security settings. I've also ported the swf to a second machine, and the same there. I've also put the swf onto CD and run from there, and the same again. I've not tried it on an XP system so these results are only in the context of Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) systems. Flash Player is version 10.1 and publication output is set to Flash Player 9 or later.
Is there another security setting somewhere I have to set as the output message is scary to a user and looks unprofessional to our clients. ???
    Henry

    Hi Rick,
The spelling in the Flash message is the same as the trust setting although it does makes your eyes go wobblytrying  to decode it with all the %20 space codes in place. And of course the trust settings were set through the Flash Manager via the browse option so should have been the same.
I think we have a problem with SWF output from Captivate 5, rationale as follows:
    1) I create an identical project in Captivate 4 generate a SWF, then taking the SWF produced by Captivate 4, I move it to the folder DB Pre-production and execute it directly, result - no warning message from Flash.
    2) I execute a SWF directly on the C Drive - say one of the pre-loaders from Adobe Captivate Gallery, result - no warning message from Flash.
    3) I execute the offending SWF via a browser (I.E.8 with no trust settings on the DB Pre-production folder), result - no warning message from Flash.
    4) I load a SWF from some other product into the DB Pre-production folder and execute it directly, result - no warning message from Flash.
    5) I copy and paste the file name settings directly from any Captivate 5 SWF produced object to Flash Security Settings manager - to ensure absolute spelling - close the browser, re-boot the system, and execute it directly from DB Pre-production, result - security warning message from Flash.
I conclude that there is a glitch in the SWF output produced from Captivate 5.
And maybe this is one of the reasons that Captivate 5 buttons that invoke other segments of learning don't function as expected (I can always get the window NEW feature to work, but PARENT, TOP and CURRENT options seem blocked). Whereas my old Captivate 4 buttons that do the same still work a treat. And all loaded from the same folder, using the same browser, and the same settings.
And good idea though it is to use an .EXE projector our commercial clients, will not acccept any .exe file from an external source, in particular CD-rom.
Should I report this as an issue? Or am I just travelling over well-worn ground?
    Best regards,
    Henry

  • Inserting swf to dreamweaver cs4

    Hi,
Hoping someone could clarify for me please!
currently putting together web site for client.  The web site has a very simple flash animation in it which the client apparently can't see and gets the prompt to upgrade to flash player v10.  (I've tested this on about 4 other computers and different browsers and it looks OK on all these!)
Their IT guy tells me he has installed v10 on their pcs and that my code is wrong because it has:  <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />"  and that it should be version 10.
I've just checked the publish settings in flash and it is set to Flash Player 10 and ActionScript 3.0 so I'm a bit confused as to why my code does indicate it is v6.0.65.  I just use the insert swf option in Dreamweaver CS4 and let Dreamweaver write the code.
Can anyone help????  I would really appreciate it!!
    Cheers,
    Karen

It is best to let Flash generate an html page when published and copy/paste the code from that file into your html page.  I don't know what Dreamweaver does when you rely on it for insertng Flash content, but I don't trust it since it should rightfully do the same thing Flash does (same company--same suite of products), but it doesn't.

  • Building theme SWF with recent nightly

I'm trying to upgrade from the Flex 4 Beta 2 SDK to nightly build 12891, and am having an issue with our dynamically-loaded theme SWF:
When the theme SWF is built via ant, running mxmlc on the CSS file, at theme-loading time our app tries to download the framework RSLs again (i.e., they were already downloaded when the app initially loaded). It also attempts to load a locale (which was also already loaded).
When the theme SWF is built via Flash Builder (by selecting the 'Compile CSS to SWF' option on the CSS file, and using the same nightly SDK), it does not attempt to load the framework RSLs or a locale.
This behavior differs from what we see when using the Beta 2 SDK; in that case, I never noticed the RSLs being requested when the theme was loaded.
Also, the theme SWF that is created with ant is smaller (50-some kb) than the one created by Flash Builder (80-some kb), when using nightly 12891.
When using the Beta 2 SDK, the theme SWF created with ant was larger than the one created by Flash Builder, using the same compiler options.
This implies that Flash Builder is providing some different options to mxmlc than our ant target is, but it's a mystery to me what those are. It seems that the default behavior of mxmlc has changed between the two SDKs.
Our ant call to mxmlc is quite simple: we provide the CSS file as the source, add an assets directory to the source path, and set our main application SWC as an external library (so skin files can resolve their host components).
I tried adding the framework SWCs as external libraries, but that didn't change the behavior.
What options should I be providing to replicate Flash Builder's compile command?
    Cheers,
    Aron

Nothing jumps out at me from the generated config.xml; perhaps it'll be more meaningful to you:
    http://pastebin.com/m40f8aa8e
This is from the top-level project that also contains the CSS file being compiled into a SWF. (Our main code base is in another, library project.)
Bug or not, am I correct in thinking that Flash Builder is just invoking mxmlc to compile the CSS file? I.e., there is some set of options that I can provide to mxmlc to achieve the same (working) result?
    Cheers,
    Aron

  • Uploaded swf and flv files - right ?

    Hi all -
Just getting to grips with flash movies, however not 100%
i've got it right as yet ! Could someone with experience in flash

server ? Everything appears OK when viewing the movies - take a
quick look here www.sofabedgallery.co.uk/cosmosofa.php however I'm
just a little concerned of the size of the flv file at a couple of
mb. Is this the correct file to upload or should I try to upload
    the fla smaller file?
    Many thanks,
    Chris.

    Hi ,
You can publish your project as MP4 with Cp6. For that --
Do -- File-- Publish-- Media--- (Choose Dropdown) MP4 and (adjust settings, if you like) Hit publish.
You can use the Adobe Media Encoder to convert the Video into FLV format.
Also, you can use the SWF option on Publish Screen to publish the project as a Flash File.
    Thanks!

  • External SWF in iPhone

Due to the large size of my FLA file I had to chop it up to few bit-size files and use the external SWF option to dynamically load sections of my app (Adobe rep said that I can't exceed 180Mb in my FLA file..). So it's all working on my pc but when I upload it to the phone the SWF's are not loading.
    I'm using this for code:
    var myFireLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var urlFire:URLRequest = new URLRequest("External.swf");
    myFireLoader.load(urlFire);
    addChildAt(myFireLoader, 0);
And included the swf files in the publish dialog. Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Dani

Exactly, there cannot be any code in it. If it did just need a stop, you could stop the loaded swf when the loader is completed. If you need code to run when things are touched in the loaded swf, you could add a listener to the Loader object, and then check what the target name is, and do whatever action needs doing based on what was touched.
You're able to read frame labels and instance names from the loaded swf, so you'll have to find a way to do what you want with that limitation.

  • How to enable sampler in telemetry options at AIR for iOS Settings?

    Hi,
I'm just trying the new Flash CC, and a very good feature is to monitor an iOS app using adobe scout.
But when I export an app, in the AIR for iOS Settings, I always see "Enable sampler" option disabled. How can I enable the option?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
To enable the sampler option you need to set it in the Publish Settings dialog. Open the Publish Settings Dialog and select the "Enable detailed telemetry" option under the advanced section for the Flash(.swf) option. Now you will find the Telemetry option for enable sampler enabled in the AIR for iOS dialog.

  • How to publish PDF online as Flash player Flip Book

    Hello,
Im not sure if this question belongs in this thread, but none the less, here it is:
How can I publish a pdf of a magazine to a website where viewers can flip through the pages like a flipbook. I noticed several publications doing this, and it seems they are using a generic template, that is simply customized for their magazine. Below are some examples of what i am looking for:
    http://cmamagazine.dgtlpub.com/
    http://update.dgtlpub.com/2014/2014-01-06/home.php
... I was directed to this page by one of the publishers: http://www.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/ebook/
but it does not seem as if this is the technology being used as it is more for mobile readings. Unless digital editions has a feature to publish online as a swf file.
    Please help!

True, but my client is the one who sent those samples and asked for something similiar. I am doing some preliminary research before presenting options to the client.
They currently use flippingbooks, just so that viewers can enjoy virtually turning a page. However, the examples i posted have further capabilities such as an archive of the previous publications, which is what my client hopes to upgrade to.
If i were to suggest them to use epub files and actual apps to read ebooks, they may be hesitant as the viewers of the publications will have to be trained on using the new system.
They currently just send an email with a link to the online swf file, and viewers just click and start reading.
It is a bit archaic, but i want to be able to offer all options, one being this outdated swf option, and another which is what desktop publishing suite has to offer.
