Swf stopping in After Effects

Hello, I have a problem with a swf in After Effects.
The Swf was built on the main Timeline in Flash CS6 as a frame by frame animation and it is ten frames long. I know symbols cause problems so I didnt use them.
In After Effects, it only plays up until frame 5 and then holds on that frame. I the sequence bar last a full ten frames however, the animation stops on frame five. So frames 1-4 are different but frame 5-10 are the same.
What could be the problem?
I even went into Preferences > Media & Disk Cache and under XMP Metadata I unchecked "XMP IDs to Files on Import", and that didin't change anything.

would it be better to try and make it in flash pro?With no doubts will i pick it up quickly?If you need just to move your text, which is a PNG file(s), it takes for about a couple of minutes to place it on a stage and arrange to taste. Basic principles are exactly the same: stage, objects, motion path...

  • Swf issue in after effects

    Hi all,
    I've created an swf animation in after effects to have on the intro site of a webpage.
    Basically part of the animation consists of some PNG files of text. I've placed it in after affects and have set it so that it moves across the screen over a short time.
    It plays fine in after effects but when I export it to swf and play it in my browser the text flickers a bit.
    In the animation there's also a movie file which I have animated and that plays fine?
    Please can someone advise me on what to do, I need to get this sorted tonight!
    Thanks!
    P.s. also would it be better to try and make it in flash pro? I havent used it before ajnd if its better will i pick it up quickly? This is sooo urgent I'd really appreciate a response tonight!

  • SWF File in After Effects

    If one creates an animated symbol in flash, then nests that
    another layer and creates a SWF file. The inner animation plays
    correctly. If one imports that SWF file into After Effects the
    inner animation is not played.
    Does anyone know how to get around this?

    When I resize the video it looses quality and looks fuzzy.  How do I resize the .swf video within the new comp without loosing quality?
    By not resizing it?! You are seeing normal behavior - when you scale up anything, the program needs to "invent" (extrapolate) pixels to fill in missing data, resulting in softening. There is no way around that. You can of course try to use effects like Sharpen to regain some sharpness, but there is no magic recipe. Even dedicated resizing plug-ins such as Red Giant's Instant HD or BorisFX' Resizer can only do so much. You will have to find other ways of dealing with this, if the bluriness is unacceptable to you, like rebuilding the stuff from original sources.

  • Modifiying an swf layer with After Effect

    Greetings,
    I'm very new to after effects and have a question regarding an exsisting  project that has a swf layer.
    We want to increase the time play from 6 second to 48 seconds. No problem with that.. However within the
    animation there is a swf that plays for six seconds. I want to keep the last frame up for the next 42 seconds.
    (It's a logo). How would I do that without messing up the 6 second animation i.e. change it's duration .
    In flash I would simply adda timer or extend the klast key frame  way out.
    I don't have the original FLA file, just the After Effects project.
    Hope I'm clear.
    thanks
    joe

    My density has bought me to it.

  • After I import a .swf's into After effects the content disappears!

    I have been using this work flow for sometime. I hand animate a sequence or a still of a character in Flash Pro on a single timeline, no scipts, etc just clean keayframe animation or a single frame.
    Then export the sequence as a .swf.
    Then usually import it into After Effects and use the vector output in my AE scene.
    After completeing an animatic for a client last week all the swf's in my AE project are EMPTY. I tried re-exporting from flash and reimporting into AE and again they show up 1st time but if I close and reopen the project they are GONE again!!! Help I have been doing this same process since CS4 and I have master animations in AE files that I'm now scared to death to open because AE will make my work vanish...

    I'm having the same issue since updating to cs6. Have always used this workflow seamlessly until now. Some info:
    CS6 Production Premium
    All lastest updates installed - yes
    Windows 7 home Premium
    Processor: Intle core 2Duo CPU E*400
    6BG RAM, 2 drives (AE running off ssd)
    No external HD attached
    Sometimes, but usually not running Flash and AE at the same time
    No error messages
    .swf's play fine in their own right outside of AE
    No special filters, effects of third part plug ins operating
    On save, some (not all) swf's lose some content. Its always the same content. Every time AE is closed and reopened the the same stuff is missing. Only fix so far (which becomes extremely annoying) is to rename the .fla and export a new .swf. It lasts until the next close/open.
    As far as I can tell, it targets non-symbol assets moreso that symbol assets, but converting the problematic parts to symbols in Flash does not rectify the problem once it has presented itself.
    Suggestions?

  • After Effects CC 2014 - removal of H.264, MPEG-2, WMV, FLV, F4V, and SWF exporters - WHY !?

    While reading the features of AfterEffects CC2014, I noticed the following:
    "removal of H.264, MPEG-2, WMV, FLV, F4V, and SWF exporters from After Effects"
    THAT IS IS REDICULOUS!!
    NO FLV !?!?
    WHAT DO YOU EXPECT USERS TO IMPORT INTO FLASH ??
    IF no FLV export is available under After Effects CC 2014, there is NO WAY to EMBED an flv into flash !! (Linking is NOT always what is wanted!!)
    NO H264 !?!?!
    HAVE YOU GONE CRAZY ?!!?!?
    YOU BREAK WORKFLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    THAT IS REDICULOUS!!!
    Any chance of restoring such features so that it makes updating to it worthwhile ?

    To date I've primarily been a Photoshop user and have dealt with years of mystifying UX and workflow changes, features that are useless to me added, and critical ones taken away (I'm looking at you Bridge, you worthless piece of garbage).  Then, to add insult to injury, Adobe forum mods telling me I'm doing it wrong and should be jumping through more hoops to achieve the same results. Now, with AE becoming a bigger part of my work, I am sad to find, that the same culture of disconnected arrogance and myopia prevails on the AE dev team.
    "Oh um user, you really want to be going through AME, because um technically speaking there have been many problems with the H.264 and MPEG-2 exporters in After Effects"
    Oh really? Tell me more about my job. Tell me about my experiences exporting these formats directly from AE. Tell me how my client views my content, is it on a Mac, or a PC? Maybe it's on his phone, or her iPad. What kind of phone is it though? Tell me at what point in my process it's ideal to render. Tell me about other tasks I'm performing. Tell me about the resolution and the bit-rate my files should play at. Tell me the final application I will be using the footage. Probably broadcast right? Or is it web? Or is it PowerPoint? Wait, what if there is no final output? What if it's just pre-vis for some other application?
    Tell me how to win over my clients; what's the correct method of presentation to engage them most impactfully? Tell me about how much time I have to render massive video files. Is it more time efficient due to the nature of my composite to render once because my file is super shallow and will render quickly or is it more efficient to render twice because my file is extremely complex with hundreds of layers?
    That the deprecated formats were hidden away in the preferences menu is dumb and annoying. That this same preference would then be removed is despicable and petty and is further confirmation that Adobe has contempt for me as a user.

  • After Effects cc 2014, problem: swf files not supported

    Hi, trouble with loading SWF file into After effects cc 2014, "format not supported" is the message. The same project is opened by another identic Macpro like mine...

  • After Effects not starting at all, stops at "initializing user interface"

    I installed CS5 master collection trial version on W7 64 bit machine.
    After Effects  doesn't load at all (it stops at "initializing user interface") and it's  even impossible to kill the  process in windows (never had this problem with any app). I can shut down all  the other processes, like dynamiclinkmanager.exe  or Adobe QT32  Server.exe, but aftereffects.exe  just won't stop and I need to restart my PC.
    Also  Premier crashes after I click 'new project', or try to open something,  but the application starts and I do see the whole GUI.
    I updated Quicktime, as well as my video card  drivers. All  other apps in the master collection seem to work fine. Uninstalled the  whole thing twice (with the remove preferences option), cleaned the registry with a comodo system clean up utility,  reinstalled also twice- nothing. Tried with the firewall turned off and  quick time completly uninstalled - nothing changed.

  • Help importing a .swf file from Flash CS5.5 to After Effects CS5.5

    I am working on animating a person in flash.  I have a main timeline and then a timeline inside of a symbol so I can move
    the characters facial features (eyebrows and mouth etc) apart from moving his entire body.
    I want to have multiple scenes so I am importing all of the .swfs into After Effects and putting them together.
    However, when I import the .swf into After Effects, it only plays what occurs in the main timeline
    and not the timeline inside of the symbol, so it is just the character moving without the facial movements.
    Is there a way to fix this or a better program to import the .swfs into and make the video?
    Thanks in advance.

    Here's the note from After Effects Help aboutt he limitations to SWF import:
    SWF (continuously rasterized) Note:  SWF files are imported with an alpha channel. Audio is not retained. Interactive content and scripted animation are not retained. Animation defined by keyframes in the main, top-level movie is retained.
    The limitation that you noticed---that only animation in the top-level timeline is retained---is not one that can be worked around without changing how your animation is set up in Flash.

    Reformated my Windows 8 OS then Installed AE cs6.
    Installed AE on my F drive instead of C [C drive is an SSD and F Drive is an HDD]
    I am able to see the AE CS6 splash screen but it will prompt a message "Has Stopped Working".
    Other things to take note:
    I am able to launch Renderer Machine without any issues.
    I am also able to launch other Adobe Products that came along with AE CS6 try version.
    Latest Quicktime version is installed.

    I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit machine with Intel Core2 Extreme (Q6850) @ 3GHz with 4GB RAM 1TB drive space with 152GB used. [Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection]
    Upon initialization of Adobe After Effects I see the splash screen as it loads it's components then all of a sudden I get an error message that "After Effects.exe has stopped working", Vista then attempts to find a "solution" and then the program closes. This also is occuring with Sound Booth & Premier Pro so I'm thinking it may be a codec issue. I've tried reinstalling (repairing) and I've uninstalled it completely then rebooted and installed it again with no success. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Vista, are there any known solutions to this issue?

    Exactly as David says. Vista installs always require Administrator access. If you have turned off UAC, log on to the Administrator account, otherwise choose the method already mentioned. Before attempting this again, use the CS3 Clean Scripts from the support pages. They will delete everything instantly and spare you a lengthy uninstall, plus they will fix the install references on the system, so you will get a clean install.

    after effects cs6 will not import swf files...keeps saying it's unsupported. why would this be? what do i need to change?

    What SWF file? What source? How was it generated? SWF generated by Flex/ Flash Server may contain constructs that are incompatible and SWFs that render all their elements dynamically using Flash drawing primitives and use lots of ActionScript may also not work...

  • After Effects CS5.5 Crashes- "Sniffer_gpu.exe" stops working

    I've had After Effects for a while on this laptop. I recently did a fresh install of Vista on it and just got around to installing CS5(.5) on it again.

    Open GL really doesn't work well in AE.  It just doesn't.  If it worked well before, consider yourself lucky, and accept that your luck just ran out.
    It could also be that you made different projects before that didn't utilize Open GL, so you never noticed that Open GL didn't work well.  It's tough to say.

  • How to reduce the swf file size of an imported After Effects file

    Hi!
    I am trying to make a web banner for an internet marketing company, so it has very specific requirements. We had it made in After Effects, and I was able to export it as a FLV file and import to Flash just fine along with the SWF. Now, I need to make the SWF file significantly smaller.
    Right now it is 2.5 MB and we can only submit a 40K size SWF. Is it even possible to reduce the size so much and still keep the animation's intregrity?
    I am more familiar with Flash than After Effects, but can play around with settings, etc if someone can tell me what to try.
    Thank you for your help!

    the easiest way to load and play your flv is to use an flvplayback component.  you just drag it from the component panel to the stage and, in the properties panel, assign its properties (eg, skin and source).
    but that will probably put you just over your 40kb limit and will require the skin.swf to be placed on the server with your banner ad.
    to decrease your swf size to negligible, use actionscript to play your flv.  this is the barebones code needed.  just replace your_video_url.flv:
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    ns:NetStream = new NetStreamnc);
    ns.play("your_video_url.flv");
    var video:Video = new Video();
    video.attachNetStream(ns);
    addChild(video);

  • Is there an replacement to exporting .swf in After Effects CC?

    Is there an replacement to exporting .swf in After Effects CC? I created an animation I am using for a app prototype in InDesign. It worked great last year, on another project, but now all I see are Quicktime and other video formats which isn't really the same thing. I need a file that will work with InDesign that can export into HTML. I could make an interactive PDF which will play quicktime but thats not as cool. Any alternatives? Anyway to get After Effects into HTML, short of using Edge instead?

    I think I answered my own question. H.264 Video via Media Encoder. Any other comments on best practices welcome.
