Swichable Grafics driver 8.752.4-101022a-107489C-lenovo does not install properly

Hi!
I was very happy to see that lenovo finally got us a renewed driver for those of us with swichable grafics.
I thought, that finally all the swiching after sleep, etc would be over, but the driver is not propperly excepted!
I initially installed the driver through system update, than i tried manual upgrade.
after that I tried uninstalling the old driver and installing the new driver.... no result as well.
Does anyone experience the same? I would be very thankful for a solution!
My System: w500 - 4063-A45
The Update I am talking about:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73641
greetings dixis

I found a workaround -  it is to manually install the driver and the ccc, but this way it seems to me, that the original problem what the update was designed for (high power consumtion after sleep) ist still there

  • My Windows 7 Ultimate {32bit} does not install driver for my LG HDD HXD5 320GB

My windows 7 does not install driver for my LG EXTERNAL HDD HXD5 320GB & its attached using a USB.
It works perfectly on Other computers having Windows 7 & Windows XP & Windows Vista, just doesn't work on mines.
I have had internet connected when it was installing hence it got the opportunity to search Windows Update for it but it fails :(
It works even on my computer ( I have DUAL OS) on windows XP SP3 but i need it to work in Windows 7.
    Please help Thanks :)
& i have already tried tried the solution which was proposed for another topic in this forum on which it was to Uninstall the driver using Device Manager and unplug the HDD and attach again and let the computer detect and install it again, my computer
does detect it but fails to install the drivers.
My Computer has a 2GB of RAM & 2.40GHZ (32bit) with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and had come with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit installed, & i upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit which is completely updated to all the Updates that Microsoft
had offered (using the built in Windows Update in Control Panel)
I have got screen shots of it too.
    http://shumayal.fileave.com/HDD.zip
PS: Same is the case with some of my USB Flash drives, but in their case they don't get detected at all but get in Windows XP SP3 (which is another OS on my pc) as well as on windows 7 and other OS on OTHER COMPUTERS but not mines in Windows 7.
    Thanks :)

    Hi,
I recommend you try to update the BIOS and the motherboard chipset drivers for Windows 7 firstly.
After that, please refresh the USB Stack:
Control Panel – Device Manager – USB Serial Controllers – Right Click on EVERYTHING and UNINSTALL all except the category itself – Reboot
. This refreshes the drive and the USB stack
Then, right click on the LG EXTERNAL HDD HXD 5 320GB in Device Manager and select Update Driver Software.
You may also try the Windows 7 built-in
    Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
    Hope it can help you!

  • Since installing Lion, I have not been able to utilize Time Machine (does not recognize the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not function properly; I have experienced unreasonable delays in the system.  Is there a fix or upgrade coming?

Is there a fix or upgrade to deal with the many problems I am experiencing since I installed Lion?  I can no longer utilize Time Machine (Does not see the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not work properly; my iMac has slowed down considerably.  I am reminded of having a PC machine again.  Bummer!

Either downgrade to Snow Leopard or try reinstalling Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Satellte C870 (PSC8EE) - Display driver for Win8 does not install anything

    Hi,
I have a Satellite C870 bought in october last year.
I upgrade it from Windows 7 to Windows 8 a first time just before Christmas and worked fine.
(Some small issues suchas Bios upgrade needed before installing the display driver but all worked well)
Few days ago I had a system crash and the HDD died.
Send out the Sateite for HDD replacement and got it back with Windows 7
Started last evening installation back to window 8 64.
But the display driver from Toshiba site does not install anything ? Not even catalyst....
Just get the request to confirm if I want to install the product and then nothing...
Tried both drivers proposed from 19/02 and 26/02 but with the same result....
Tried to install the driver directly from AMD ad got a message my card was not supported
Tried Windows 7 driver from Toshiba site for my machine and got the same message....
Graphic card is an AMD 75610M
And of course I have admin access, and also tried to launch the Setup files in admin mode.
And other drivers install normally (Lan Drivers, Wifi Drivers, Tempro, Eco mode etc)
    Thanks for your Help

Thanks for your kind answer ....
I had unfortunatly tried this option already before posting...
Should have been more explicit in my post....
*I have a solution working right now as I finally achieved to install Drive 13.1 from AMD site.*
Even though I had to proceed with a manual installation.
Sill consider a pitty the file from Toshiba is not working.

  • U300 Touchpad Driver for Windows 8 Does Not Load Properly

I have spent a few hours with both Microsoft Premier Technical Support and (a very grumpy) Lenovo technician. They have both confirmed that the Windows 8 touchpad driver that is currently posted on the Lenovo site for the U300S does not load properly. It will, as many have reported, disable the touchpad altogether. There seems to be an issue with the loader installing files for both a Synaptics and a Cypress touchpad. This creates an apparent conflict that relegates the touchpad as useless.
If you choose to install this driver, I would recommend that you create a store point so that it can be easily recovered.
A standard mouse works just fine (albeit without any Win8 functionality).
***Lenovo should pull this damaging driver down from their site until a certified replacement can be prepared.***

    Hi,
If the computer is OEM, please refer to the user guid manual to know how to boot into WinRE to recovery your system.

  • Creating a symlink directory on a network share to a path below a mapped drive letter, local path, or UNC path does not work

Am I correct in assuming I can not create a `symlinkd` to a network share, local path, or a UNC path on a network share that will be accessible by clients?
    ###Mapped drive letters don't work:
    1) navigate to a network share:
    pushd \\windows2008server\share\
    2) make a hardlink:
    mklink /d test_sharedir t:\directory\
    dir .\test_sharedir
    #Directory of Z:\test_sharedir
    #File Not Found
    UNC paths don't work:
    1) navigate to a network share:
    pushd \\windows2008server\share\
    2) make a symlink:
    mklink /d test_dirunc \\windows2008server\share
    dir .\test_dirunc
    #Directory of Z:\test_dirunc
    #File Not Found
I can create a functional `symlinkd` on a local drive to a mapped drive letter or a UNC path.
    Are my assumptions above correct?
We are in the middle of a migration and have created two symlinkd to UNC paths for shared DLLs, one below c:\windows\system32\ (directing to a share containing 64-bit DLLs) and one below c:\windows\syswow64 (directing to a share containing 32-bit DLLs).
On the file server, we have had a path to 32-bit DLLs (from Windows 7 clients: s:\dll\).  I am attempting to rename this directory so that it is accessible via "s:\dll32\" and would like to create a symlinkd that links "s:\dll" to
"s:\dll32" [again where S: is a mapped drive on a Windows 2008 server].  How do I do this?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Mandy,
The link you sent me is for Netapp CIFS server daemon contained within DataOnTap (the Netapp OS) to follow symlinks.  I am inquiring about the Microsoft products Windows Server and Windows 7.
To gain a better understanding of the Microsoft Windows Server and client (Windows) CIFS stacks and interaction of the stacks, I have referred to Figure 6 "Server Message Block Server Model" within the following (albeit older) document: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/0/2800a518-7ac6-4aac-bd85-74d2c52e1ec6/tuning.doc
    You will see the following:
I assume that the Windows Server CIFS server service must be "smart enough" to determine that a CIFS client is attempting access to a SYMLINKD and actually fill the request by following the SYMLINKD.  The CIFS server service does not appear
    to operate like this.
    1) Am I correct in my assumption that the CIFS client (redirector) and the CIFS server (server) do not following symbolic links (whether they be file or directory)?
    2) If not, how do I submit a feature request for this so that it can be reviewed and approved or not approved for inclusion/hotfix release?
    Thanks for your time,
    Matt Brown
    [UPDATE]
Note that you can use a `directory junction` instead of using a SYMLINKD, to link to LOCAL resources (source). However, `directory junctions` do not allow access to resources over UNC.

  • Satellite L955-10K - Synaptics Touchpad Driver does not work properly

    Hello, ASRR here.
I've been having a problem with my Synaptics touchpad driver since yesterday. I am very used to using the "gestures" to work with my touchpad and the gestures haven't worked properly (in fact at all) for a while. The two-finger scrolling, the three-finger touch and others (actually all of the gestures) do not work anymore.
The cursor moves, and works fine but the gestures don't.
When I go to the Mouse option in the Control Panel, a window pops up stating that the PC is "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver." and asks me whether I want to uninstall it.
I have tried uninstalling it, then going on the support page for Toshiba and downloading a driver that was suitable for my model, operating system, etc.
When I set up the driver I downloaded and restart the PC, the same window pops up when I try and go to the Mouse options in the Control Panel and the gestures do not work.
One interesting thing I noticed however, is the fact that when I roll back the driver (in the Hardware properties- then settings) the gestures work FINE. However, as it always asks you to restart the computer in order for the Rolling back of the driver to take place, when I do restart it, it sets the Microsoft touchpad driver from 2006; which does not include the gestures I need.
I have tried multiple times to fix it but I can't. I went to the UEFI firmware set up and tried resetting it to default but with no success.
I really do not know what to do. Could somebody PLEASE help?
My Toshiba Model is a Satellite L-955-10K with a 64bit processor and originally installed Windows 8 operating system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

To me it looks like the Synaptics touchpad driver could not be installed properly and after the new restart the touchpad driver isnt indicated by the Windows 8 system.
By the way: are you still using the Win 8? Didnt you upgrade the system to Win 8.1? Should do this since many different bugs have been solved in new Win 8.1 version.
Back to the Synaptics touchpad driver.
Usually the drivers should be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page but in some cases you could also use the drivers directly from manufacturer pages. In this case the touchpad driver has been released by Synaptics and it would be interesting to know how the touchpad driver from Synaptics driver page would act on your notebook

  • CD/DVD Optical drive appears and then disappears, replacement also does not show up

    My laptop: HP Pavilion dv9601AU
I have read a similar post here but my problem is different. My problem is that the DVD drive *sometimes* show up in My Computer and *sometimes* dont. Even the BIOS does not detect it.  When I formatted my laptop with Windows 7, to my surprise it was gone. But it appeared again and I somehow installed all the required drivers from my driver DVD.... then it dissapered again. It never came back.
Failed attempt 1: I tried to re-format the PC using virtual drive but the problem persists.
Failed attempt 2: Thinking it to be a physical loose connection, I took it to local HP service station, they removed the drive, put it back firmly, but in vain.
Failed attempt 3: They attached other similar optical drive but to my surprise, the new drive was also not detected.
Failed attempt 4: I tried Microsoft's "Fix It" thing and also read about removing "upper filters" and "lower filters" in registry. However, I didnt have any of those filters entry in the first place so no question about making changes to the registry.
    Facts:
    1) The drivers are installed. There should not be any problem with the drivers.
    2) The lens is perfect. I was able to install all the drivers from DVD when the drive appeared for a short period of time.
    3) The HP logo tht appears upon starting the laptop lingers for a longer period of time compared to what it was doing so when the drive was fine.
    4) The boot menu does not show the optical drive.
    5) I live in India where normal room temperatures go upto 42 degrees Celcius and my laptop gets much much warm most of the times. I think some damage has been done to the internal circuitry.
Please, if somebody can provide me a solution to this. How can I get back my DVD Drive working. The support personnel here are having no clue (especially after learning the fact that their new optical drive also didnt show up) I hope I get some guidance from you guys as what should I do next. Please help me.
Message Edited by jal_desai on 10-09-2009 06:51 AM

I am having the exact same problem with my customer's dvd drive sometimes showing up during boot (BIOS) and sometimes not. Also ran full system diagnostic software and everything else tests fine, although the drive is not showing present. I have also tried 2 different drives but they do the same thing. I would go on to say that if you always left the dvd drive out of the laptop, your boot problems would probably go away. This would then tell you that it's not your drive at all, but the connections on the MOBO or the traces (wires) connecting the drive to the MOBO.
I work on computers and have for several years and most times this is related to a MOBO issue since that is the only item left in this situation. You know it's not the drive since it's been replaced with the same issue so drivers/firmware are not the case. I am assuming you have already updated the BIOS as well,  but this shouldn't matter. There could be a dirty contact, faulty component, or a bad trace (wire) on the MOBO which is almost always harder to fix and is better to just replace the MOBO. However, replacing the MOBO is usually expensive when you have to buy the part and then pay someone to install it making it not usually the best option. Even if it is a dirty contact, it was probably caused by something that was spilled which could cause problems later. In this case, I am probably just going to recommend disabling the internal dvd drive and buying a slim external usb dvd drive, and then saving their money for a new laptop. You will still have to wait through a slower boot while staring at the HP screen, but I don't think replacing the MOBO is the most economical thing to do, unless you are the manufacturer and have several laying around.
I know this isn't good news, but it is what I've found to be the case in my experiences. Anybody else care to chime in?

  • Satellite L300D-13S - CD/DVD drive does not close properly

    Hi,
I have the L300D-13S about one week.
Today and for a short while last Sunday the DVD drawer will not stay closed.
I have restarted a few times and tried putting discs in but it still ejects and doesn't read the discs.
I installed Norton 360 Version 2.0 the day I got it, I really don't know a lot about computers and I am hoping it's simple enough.
I have checked the control panel and checked all the settings and they all seem fine.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

    Hi
In my opinion its a mechanical CD/DVD drive problem and you should contact the ASP in your country for a check.
I mean your warranty must be valid because this notebook does not seem to be old.
So ask the ASP and maybe the CD/DVD drive must be replaced.

  • Mapped Drive B:\ to a network share but does not show up in Windows Explorer.

I mapped drive B: to a network share but it does not show up in Windows explorer.  I can go to the drive by typing b:\ but is not visible in explorer.  But if I login as local admin it shows up in windows explorer.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Lloyd Reeves,
Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
Disconnect the mapped drive and map it again.
Ensure the user is using an administrator account; or change another user account to have a try.
Create  a shortcut for a share folder and see if it will disappear.
In addition,  it would be helpful for future troubleshooting if you could help to collect the following information:
Which method did you use to map drive?
Was there any error message in the Event log? If so, please provide the      detailed information.

    Dear forum members,
I want to install Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme on my Windows XP x64 Professional computer, but i am not able to succesfully finish 64bit X-Fi driver installation. Whether i use newer x64bit X-Fi beta driver or older official x64bit X-Fi driver, the installation of the driver stops at the end of the installation, when "CTDVINST.DLL" file is being installed and MY COMPUTER REBOOTS instantly. After the reboot, i am being asked to install Soundblaster X-Fi driver again and again. So all the X-Fi software installs well, but when i want to upgrade to x64bit drivers downloaded from Creative web site, the installation process reboots my computer right at the end of it, when "CTDVINST.DLL" file (it seems to be the last file in the driver package) is mentioned.

    Hi,
    Technomarv:
Listen to what others are saying! "The BIOS not installed" message is NOT a problem My machine says this EVERY time I boot Up! There is obviously something else wrong.
    You say:
    Quote
The problem does not appear to be with the boot sector as when I put the hard drive into another machine it boots perfectly. Once back in MSI machine the boot process hangs again. I therefore find it difficult just to ignore the PC when it tells me "The bios is not installed".
Am I to understand from this that your trying to boot the same hard drive using two different motherboards? If so - I'm not surprised it doesn't boot! It is advisable to do a full and new install of your OS - to your HD - when installing a new board.
You can't just move a hard drive from one machine to another and hope a boot will be successful (this can only be done when the motherboard and or add-ons are the same or very similar).

  • W510 Multi Touch Display Driver NOT installing properly on a fresh Windows 7 Professional Image.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here and I will make it as short as possible. First, thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and helping me out in any way possible.
I have a fairly new W510 machine with a crucial 256GB SSD in it. My SSD crapped out (luckily I had a back up) crucial sent me a new one and I just imaged the new drive a couple of days ago with my backup (The backup is made from the original Lenovo install). However during the imaging some Windows components were damaged for some reason (perhaps due to the previous drive crapping out). The only fix was to go ahead and use the retail windows 7 Pro DVD to "repair" the windows installation by clicking the "upgrade" button after inserting the disk. --As Microsoft suggested this to fix an existing win 7 installation. After I did that EVERYTHING worked flawlessly! I was really happy with the machine, it booted in 30 seconds and what not. However, the multi touch driver for my W510 screen will not stick ... no matter how many times I install it, as soon as I "log out" of the machine, the driver rolls back to a normal pointing device and multi touch is disabled and my on-screen keyboard vanishes. It is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Here is exactly what I'm doing.
1 - Log into my Admin user account
    2 - Install this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-74908
3 - Multi Touch works great!
4 - Logoff or Lock machine or put it to sleep.
5 - Log back in my admin user account
6 - Touch screen works but all multi touch features are now disabled (As in no pan/scroll no pinch to zoom no nothing) the touch screen simply works as a simple mouse (point and click).
7 - Install the driver again (mentioned in step 2) --Again everything works great.
    8 - Repeated 3 to 7 ... Forever …
I tried completely removing the driver and re-installing it from scratch, I tried getting the raw ISD-V4 (W510's screen driver) directly from Wacom (works too) but again the minute I Logoff or lock that machine, the driver just rolls back or goes back to a normal pointing device. It is really weird that this is happening. The touch screen always worked well and I never had any problems with it. Also in device manager nothing has changed, it seems that everything is in good shape there.
    My W510 specs:
    - Intel Core i7 Extreme X920
    - 16.0 GB DDR3 RAM (G-Skill)
    - 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD
    - No GOBI 2000 Card.
    - Intel WiMax Installed and Enabled.
    - CD-ROM Drive in UltraBay
    - Cam / Fingerprint Reader / Color Sensor / Smartcard Reader / Expansion all installed
    - Windows 7 Professional SP1
It seems that Windows is somehow defaulting to a different "driver" that is over-riding the multi-touch driver I download and install when I log off. Do I need to install the driver outside my user account? Or is there a method to erase the default drivers or something? I am trying to avoid re-imaging this machine from scratch using the provided Lenovo Windows Partition. I just have too much development software on it, some of which will take me forever to re-install and re-configure.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Al.
