Swing questions: passing inputs(parameters) betwen classes

Hi,
I am writing a program that needs GUI. It is very new to me. And many simple questions I couldn't find answer. Part of the reason is that I don't even know how to ask questions. So, I hope you can help me.
First question:
I have the application ( main program ) class, in which a 'set parameter' button should invoke another 'input' panel ( coded in a separated class, I suppose), which has a couple of test fields with labels. once numbers are put in those fields and 'OK' button is clicked, those numbers need to be returned to the main program (in the form of an 'parameter' object or an array . ) My question is how to pass those information back to the main class?
2nd
Somehow when I click the 'X' button in the input panel, the whole program quits. I want it behaves like a 'cancel' button. How?
Thanks!

1) This is more of a design issue than really a java
question. Establishing references between the objects
is quite simple. At some point, you must have created
the GUI from your main program. This would be a good
point to establish a reference:Thanks! I guess I over-thought about this issue
>
2) You can set for a frame the default Closing
operation, but I don't remember the exact method
call. See the sun tutorials for this, as well.should the default closing operation be set in the parent panel or in the child panel? currently I set the parent panel to be closed when exits, and didn't set the operation in the child.
Thanks!

  • What is the better way to pass input parameters between components?

    Hi all,
    I had a dispute with a colleague about passing data between different WDP Development Components. The situation is like this:
    Colleague has a SearchWDP (parent) und I have a BrowseWDP (child). After searching for some objects and clicking a hit in the SearchWDP, the corresponding details should be shown in BrowseWDP, via passing a bunch of parameters such as selected item's id, etc.
    Now which of the following is the better practice:
    - Defining a node in BrowseWDP (child) with isInputParameter set to TRUE, creating a similar node from the same type (simply via ModelBinding, both WDPs are using the same model) in SearchWDP, and defining a mapping between them so that SearchWDP fills the input nodes. From BrowserWDPs perspective, I'd call this Pull method.
    or...
    - Defining a node in BrowseWDP (child) with isInputParameter set to FALSE, creating a setter method in BrowseWDP Interface Controller for the collection (to be passed as parameters) and calling a wdContext.nodeBlaBla().bind(pInputParameterFromModelType). From BrowserWDPs perspective, I'd call this Push method.
    The colleague's argumentation in favor of Push has not convinced me at all and I'd like to ask your opinions. Is there a best practice or recommendation for this scenario? TIA
    ps: Any answer will be rewarded.

    Hi Cuneyt,
    Refer the links below, they are very informative!

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/67/cc744176cb127de10000000a155106/content.htm
    These links are a part of the WebDynpro ABAP documentation, but the concepts are same for WDA and WDJ.
    Considering your scenario, I would recommend the first alternative you have mentioned (if you refer the second link its called External Context Mapping), where component controller context node of component A (SearchWDP) is the source for Interface controller context (same name) of component B (BrowseWDP).
    Thanks.

  • How can i pass input parameters to .rdf file in DOS  command prompt?

    Hi friends,
    Please give some idea about this problem.
    I am running a .rdf file at dos mode like this .
    c:\orareport\bin\RWRUN60 TEST.RDF USERNAME/PASS@DBINSTANCE

    Hi,
    there is a plenty of parameters you can specify from DOC command line.
    You can have them in help menu.
    Lanch rwrun60
    Help\search\ seach for: param
    you will find parameters from rwrun60 from the command line.

  • Passing input parameters to the method call in ADF task flow.

    Hi,
    I have the following use case:
    There is a task flow with 2 jspx pages. In the first page I have 2 input search parameters and search button. the search button calls the webservice data control execute (GET_ACCOUNTOperation) method .
    Displaying the search results in the same page is not a problem , but my requirement is that the search results are to be displayed in the second page in tabular form.
    To achieve this, I dragged the execute method as the method call in the task flow and specified the input parameters for the method call (right click and add parameters) . I am getting the following exception :

    Some additional info:
    Under the data controls pallete, the GET_ACCOUNTOperation method has a parameters section , which has "part" (java.lang.Object) as
    the input parameter.

    Hi,
    thanks for the quick turn-around. Jdev version that i am using is Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0. And i am using SOAP. Isnt there a way without using a backing bean? I am planning to use it as a portlet. Would'nt creating a backing bean cause a problem in that case?? Also i am confused here . The method that i am dragging is GET_ACCOUNTOperation(Object). I tried passing the hashmap . It gave the following exception :
    javax.el.MethodNotFoundException: Method not found: GET_ACCOUNTOperation.execute(java.util.HashMap)

  • Very Simple C question - reading input parameters/flags... [SOLVED]

    This is an extremely simple question. Please forgive me for being a noob. I am writing an application in C (with GCC) called GAPE and need to be able to pass it parameters through a shell script (/usr/bin/gape) that can determine how it runs. To start with easy stuff, I want the end-user to be able to type "gape -V" to output the version of the program. How do I do that? I understand that I need to put the shell script in /usr/bin...where should I put the actual gcc-compiled gape application? Or do I even need a shell script? Can I just put the GAPE binary in /usr/bin and pass parameters to it directly? If so, how do I do that in C? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    include <stdio.h>
    main(int argc, char *argv[])
    int i;
    for(i = 1; i < argc; i++) //argc = the number of arguments
    printf("param nr %d: %s\n", i, argv[i]); // argv[i] contain the arguments, with 0 being the program name (anyone may correct me here)
    [jaqob@p238 c++-egna]$ ./a.out 1 2 3
    param nr 1: 1
    param nr 2: 2
    param nr 3: 3
    [jaqob@p238 c++-egna]$ ./a.out -h -V -zxvf
    param nr 1: -h
    param nr 2: -V
    param nr 3: -zxvf
    A very simple program that prints the parameters
    And yes, you can put the program in /usr/bin/ without a shellscript

  • Passing Input parameters to BPEl Process

    Hi,
    The requirement is to link OBIEE report and a BPEl Process.By clcking on the link in OBIEE report , the BPEl process should be executed which accepts the input parameters at run time from the user along with the input parameters being passed from OBIEE report.I am stuck with how to pass the parameters from OBIEE report to BPEL process.I'm using OBI V 10.1.3.3 and developed the BPEL process using Oracle JDeveloper.Could someone help me in resolving this?
    Thanks,
    Vidya

    hi vid
    the bpel process talks in language of web services ie partener links , i guess there must be some way of creating web service of obi and then you can make the two talk, also you can have reverse approach by generating axis client of BPEL webservice and using this client jar in your other obiee whatever....
    hope this helps....

  • Passing input parameters from an applet to a JSP page

    Hello all,
    Yes, its one of these questions which I have tried to find a solution from the already large number of postings but with no luck. I'm still a novice to Java/JSP so bear with me.
    Consider this scenario.
    1. An applet which has two input boxes (say First name and surname). 2. These parameters will be passed to a JSP page (so the applet will call a JSP page).
    3. The JSP will have have the necessary logic (or actually a JavaBean will) to connect to a database and add a new record with these parameters (first name and surname).
    I also need to consider editing/updating the record in the database. So a JSP page will connect to the database, retrieving the required record from the database and then display the parameters back in an applet in two input boxes (first name and surname) to be edited and saved again.
    I have been able to develop a similar application using simple HTML forms to add and update records in a database so I'm not worried about the database connectivity simply the issue of passing parameters from the applet to the JSP page and vice versa (for edit/update).
    Once i've managed to do this with input boxes, I can experiment with the other input types radios, checkboxes, select etc.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Assad

    create an URL object with u'r specified link of the java class and send the parameters..write trhis action in any buttonclick event in u'r applet.

    For the benefit of others here, I resolved the problem by examining the properties of the datagridview control. In this case, the datagridview control binding property was being set in the visual studio designer and for some reason was not able to be set at runtime. I removed the binding property in the visual studio property window and the problem was resolved.

  • Create an API to Launch an LabVIEW Built Executable and Pass it Input Parameters

    Hello,
    I'm looking for a way to create an API to Launch/Close an executable, created with LabVIEW, which in additional to Launching/Closing tht executable, will also allow me to pass input parameters.
    To give you some background, I'm working on a logging utility, basically a background dameon, which I currently have implemented as a LabVIEW packed library and my API is a few VIs to launch that daemon and pass it a filename and a logging rate.  Functionally it works just fine however is executes within LabVIEW not as an independent process.  So instead of using a packed library, I would like to compile my logging daemon down to an executable but I still need a way to launch it and pass it parameters from an external application (such as Teststand).
    I know you can launch executables and pass parameters using windows command lines, but I'm wondering if there is a more direct method such as a DLL that I could call in Teststand?  Thanks.
    Post CLD and when I'm a CLA when someone asks who I am, I can spin around in my chair and say "I am... the architect."

    When Teststand Launches the Logger, it does so by opening a reference to the logger daemon using the "Open VI Reference" primitive and then it launches an instance of the dameon using the "Start Asynchronous Call" node.
    This currently, launches the logger within labview not teststand.  If I were to directly call the logger daemon VI itself as a step in TestStand, then it could run in a new teststand thread.  At that point I would need a way to stop that logger which I should be able to do by storing a reference to its control queue within the teststand thread that it is running in.  Since teststand let's you specify VI execution in the runtime engine instead of LabVIEW that might do the job.
    The one catch is once the sequence completes, the logger does some cleanup, post processing, etc that depending on the amount of data captured can take some time so if a set of sequences needs to be executed, this could hang up teststand until that post processing is completed.  That is one reason why I wanted it to execute outside of testtand so that additonal sequences could continue to run while the daemon finishes up in the background.
    But, it's something I'll have to look into.
    Post CLD and when I'm a CLA when someone asks who I am, I can spin around in my chair and say "I am... the architect."

  • Calculation view with input parameters

    Hello there.
    I got a calculation with that expects 2 input parameters.
    But now I have to created another calculation view that import this calculation view.
    How can I pass these 2 parameters using sqlscript?
      My script so far
      cv1 = CE_CALC_VIEW("_SYS_BIC"."calc_1",["CR"],'"COMPANY"=''7000''');
    I must pass 2 parameters in this  "_SYS_BIC"."calc_1" table

    Hi Tiago,
    as I am aware, you cannot pass input parameters to CE function.
    You can try using regular SQL syntax:
    SELECT "CR" FROM "_SYS_BIC"."calc_1"
    WHERE "COMPANY" = 7000
    (PLACEHOLDER."$$PARAM_1$$" => VALUE_1,
    PLACEHOLDER."$$PARAM_2$$" => VALUE_2)

  • Oracle Workflow and mapping input parameters

    Hello all,
    I am trying to create a process flow in OWB that will be able to pass input parameters into each of my mappings. Each mapping contains 2 inputs, a start time and an end time.
    Does OWB's process flows allow for this or is there another approach that i should take in creating a workflow for these mappings?
    I am currently using 11gR2(11.2.0.1) and OWF v. 2.6.4.
    Thanks in advanced for any and all help,
    Randy

    Hi Randy,
    Open the process flow editor. In the structure window (menu view->structure), select the mapping activity and expand it to see its parameters. If you select a parameter, you can set its value or bind it to a variable in the property window.
    In the structure window you can also add process flow parameters to the start activity or define process flow variables.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • SQLPLUS Acitivity in process flow Input parameters to the script

    I have a sqlplus Activity in the process flow. In the script section I have a update statement which has a where clause where I need to pass a date field as input paramter to this script to compare and update the records.
    Is there a way to pass Input Parameters to the script.
    update test
    set last_name = 'TEST'
    where trunc(begin_date) = :begin_date;
    Begin_date is a variable in my process flow which I need to pass to this script.
    Any ideas as to how I can accomplish this.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can Create a procedure of the Update statement with one input paramenter like
    Create Or replace procedure Update_test ( p_begin_date date )
    IS
    update test
    set last_name = 'TEST'
    where trunc(begin_date) = p_begin_date;
    End;Then call this Procedure in the Process Flow and give input parameter from PF variable.

  • How to pass input parameter (parameterized mapping) to java mapping program

    Hello
    I have a question about the parameterized mapping with Java (PI 7.1).
    In the operation mapping (using Java-class) I defined a inputer parameter (string). I think I am supposed to retrieved the value using:
                    arg0.getInputParameters().getString("myInputParameterName");
    where arg0 is the TransformationInput object.
    However I am not able to get the value, I got runtime exception saying the inputer parameter doesn't exit.
    Then I figured out maybe I need to bind the OM input parameter to Java mapping parameter, just like in case of message mapping, you need to bind OM parameter to MM parameter. However there is no way to define input parameter for the java mapping program.
    Anybody has done java mapping with parameterized mapping?
    Anybody can give any hint for this?
    Thanks

    hi ,
    I am calling a transaction through an url into which i want to pass the input parametere to the transaction as an variable; my question is
    is it possible? if yes then how?

    Hi Diana ,Thanks for taking intrest in my question . I hav already gone through that link which you have given, what my question is that,
    consider this ex. given below
    Transaction=Test/YieldCalc&YieldFactor=10.0&OutputParameter=YieldAverage.
    in the above call i am passing 10.0  as input to the parameter YieldFactor .
    what i want to do is to store this value of 10.0 in a variable and then pass this variable to the parameter YieldFactor,
    say,
    var xxx=10.0;
    Transaction=Test/YieldCalc&YieldFactor="xxx"&OutputParameter=YieldAverage.
    I have tried like this but it  didnt worked.
    is it possible ?
    how?

  • How to bind/pass multiple input parameters to sql query in BPEL Process

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to invoke a query on a database table to fetch the records based on the few input values or bind variables?
    I have created a Partner link using the DBAdapter service and have used custom SQL, how can i bind and pass multiple bind/input parameters for these queries.
    foreg: if i have to query employee records based on name , desgination and age, these three params would be my input parameter that i will pass when i invoke the BPEL process, bow how can i pass these parameters to the partner link using DBADAPTER service.
    Please help
    Regards

    If the parameter-value is not known beforehand and cannot be determined based on the process instance data at that time, there are 2 options. Either invoke the PL/SQL procedure you named using a DB adapter service to get the value and pass it to the other DB adapter service. Or create a single service (e.g. PL/SQL procedure) that determines the parameter value, executes the query and returns the result. However, this is more a design issue. Does it makes sense to combine these actions in a separate service and use it or are these actions not related? You furthermore state that additional (DB adapter) services make the process heavier. Do you have strict requirements on the time process-instances may run or other such requirements? If not, I think the design-choice on whether combining these actions in a single service should have more priority.
