"Swipe between pages" crashes apps on Mavericks

I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) and a Magic Mouse.
After installing Mavericks (updating) I've noticed that many apps crashes when I swipe with one finger back or forward, and doesn't respond to anything until you quit and restart the app.
I've tested this issue with Safari and the App Store, and both apps crashes when you swipe.
In Google Chrome, instead of crashing the entire app, the scroll stop working (but still works in select list).
Also, I don't know if Apple remove this, but in Calendar app you can't swipe with one finger to navigate through sections. Swipe just do nothing.
I've resetted the NVRAM and the issue stills there. At the beginning it look likes it works, but a few minutes after, I opened the App Store and crashed again. Also, sometimes I can swipe in the App Store without crashing, but after doing that 4 o 5 times, it crashes inevitably.
Also, I'm using MagicPrefs, but I haven' setted any function to swipe actions.

Thanks to a suggestion in another thread, I came up with a quick workaround.  Set a corner of your screen to "Put Display to Sleep" in Hot Corners (System Preferences/Mission Control).  So I simply put the cursor there for a second, then the screen goes black.  I then move the cursor and...POW!  Swiping works again.  Whole "process" takes 2 seconds.
It's only temporary, so Apple still needs to fix this.  Bug report filed and closed as a duplicate of bug #14969656.

It's a Magic Mouse question. I have set this up in Preferences by ticking Swipe between pages with one finger and also Swipe between full-screen apps with two fingers,  however when I try to do the latter, the 2 finger swipe will take me from the app that I am on to the dashboard only and not to my other open apps.
I also find that Smart zoom only works with some apps, for instance not with Word docs or email.
How can I correct this please?

Just figured out it also does not work with the Mail app.

  • Swipe between pages feature is freezing with magic mouse and magic trackpad in Mavericks

I am experiencing a bug in Mavericks with my Magic trackpad and the Magic mouse. This bug comes and goes and is very sporadic. When it happens I am usually in a browser like Firefox or Safari, or in iPhoto. Anything that uses the Swipe between pages feature usually locks up, and  on top of this it locks the scroling up and down function in the browsers and in iPhoto. The only thing that makes these functions work again is to reeboot or turn off bluetooth and turn it back on. I see that many people are having this problem in other posts, and I am just wondering if Apple is actually working on this bug or has somebody found what trigers this bug and do they have the fix for it?
    Thanks for your help
    Chris

Maybe this will help. You can look for other ideas in the 'More Like This' box to the right.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

After the latest mavericks update i cant swipe to go forward/ backward on google chrome or safari?
yes i have the option selected on system preferences>trackpad>swipe between pages.
yes i have uninstalled/reinstalled chrome AND safari.

There are reports that this problem can be solved by simply restarting, or by resetting the PRAM.

  • OS x mavericks Safari hangs when i swipe between pages

OS x mavericks Safari hangs when i swipe between pages
i configured the mouse to swipe between pages one of the best basic features from apple
and now OS x mavericks kills it. and i use force to stop a lot with this new update.
and Mavericks is going to feel more like Microsoft windows slow, annoying, no fun to work with

I have the exact same problem. The mystery is that it happens everytime on my iMac and does not happen on my MacBook Air.  Both are running the same versions of everything.

  • Swipe between pages...

...no longer works eversince I upgraded to Mavericks in Finder. Have Apple removed this feature that used to work with Finder? I do have Swipe between pages ticked in sys prefs. It works in other apps, just not with Finder.

I think the best solution for this is using the "column view"

  • Magic mouse swipe between pages not working "only" in finders and preferences

    Hi community,
I'm a new comer in this mac world like I just bought it less than a month ago and I'm already having trouble with it.
My apple magic mouse cannot swipe between pages "only" in finder and preferences. I mean it works perfectly fine with Safari and stuff but when it comes to finder, I cannot move between folders by swiping with one finger. Ironically, it works fine if I change it to two finger swipe option by sacrificing 'Swipe between full-screen app' feature as it uses two fingers. Apple customer support that I talked to could not figure it out and I'm hoping to find answers here. I mean it's really awkward as it works with two fingers but not with one finger. Plus, one finger swipe works fine in Safari and other apps.
I did what I can - restarting, -switch on and off the mouse, - PRAM reset, - trying in serfdom, -remove and pair up again the mouse, -run repair permission in disk utility.
I use Mac Mini late 2014 with Yosemite 10.10.1 and this just happened all of sudden.
    Please help!!

Just figured out it also does not work with the Mail app.

  • HT5019 When I swipe between full screen app, the other screen follows

, can it just change the full screen app of the screen with the cursor?
when I swipe between full screen app, the other screen follows to a full screen app window with no applications (like a grey linen screen)
and I can't use that one properly yet I still want to use the full screen app without disturbing the other screen. (the left screen is grey)

    Upgrade to 10.9, Done.

  • Swipe between pages in Safari not working properly

Lion works perfectly so far, the only known issue I have is that Gesture in Safari to go Back or Forward does not work properly: Swipe between pages (Scroll left or right with two fingers).
it means I see the previous page under the actual page, but the task would not complete and it's like something blocking it to turn the pages. I hope you understand what I am saying. Anyone with the same bug? Any solution?
I've restored safari, cleaned the history and Reset it, restart computer, unselected the gesture option in Preference and activate it again, with no luck.

I've had the same problem as feri.  Dylanksf described the behaviour best - when two-finger swiping forward and back in Safari, the page moves slightly to the side, then acts as if it "catches" on something before moving further.  The result is it's nearly impossible to swipe back and forward (although the 3-finger swipe still works).  I don't have Flexiglass installed.
Usually I'm able to solve the problem by doing the following:  (1) open system preferences and select "Trackpad"; (2) go to the "More Gestures" pane; (3) toggle the "Swipe between pages" checkmark and settings; (4) put the settings back to how you want them.
On some occasions, however, this doesn't seem to work.  In that case, go back to the main System Preferences panel, choose "Universal Access", select the "Mouse & Trackpad" pane, and click on "Trackpad Options...".  Then toggle the checkmark beside "Scrolling" off and back on, and make sure scrolling is set to "with inertia".  This managed to solve my problem when the method above didn't work, and also resolved an issue I was having where the scroll bars were failing to automatically disappear when using the magic trackpad.

  • Swipe between pages with three-fingers MacBook Pro

    Hello,
After updating FF to 29.0.1 I no longer can swipe between pages using three fingers or do a quick scroll to the top of the page using three fingers.

Try this. Start in safe mode. See if there is a problem and report back.

  • Is there a PDF Viewer that can swipe between pages?

I'm a working musician and I had high hopes for the iPad that I might be able to have music Pdf charts that I could read on gigs.
For this to really work, I need to have a PDF App that can use the hand swipe method of moving between pages.I tried the PDF Reader Pro app and for reading Pdf's, it is fine, but it has only a tiny arrow touch-link that scrolls the page and It's impossible to go for that while I'm playing on a gig.
Am I guilty of purely wishful thinking here, or would an app like this violate Apple's protections against moving cross-platform, since it would have to access Apple's touch sensitive technology?
    Thanks for any tips,
    Frank Bright

I thought I'd reply on this since I've since had time to really try Good Reader out as a music chart reading program. It seems to have all the ingredients for reading music charts well, but for me it does NOT fly, not when really using it while you're playing an instrument.
The organization is all very well done and good - pages are well defined and separated. But trying to turn pages with ANY consistency while playing an instrument - in my case, piano - is IMPOSSIBLE.
Note: when one tries this out just sitting in a chair, it performs flawlessly. You may wonder "What was he talking about? This is easy!" And I've tried all methods -tapping the corners, the bottom middle tap, and the full swipe method. It all comes down to this:
Executing the tap or swipe successfully requires a certain deliberateness or focus in your finger touch - a focus that is easy enough to summon when you're doing nothing else. But this focus, at least to me, is simply not accessible when I'm playing the piano and reaching in quick desperation to make sure the page gets turned in time. It's just not there for me anyways, and I predict that some might be able to do it, but I doubt even those few will feel any consistency in the results.
I have since discovered the Music Reader App and am currently trying that one. The App is free, but to work with charts and convert them on your computer requires that you purchase a program.
Thanks - and I hope this helps someone,....Frank

  • Magic Trackpad is not letting me swipe between full screen apps.

I am pretty sure it was doing it before but now it has stopped. I can do everything else but I'm just not able to swipe between apps.
    Thanks

The little scroll ball is probably dirty because it is a random problem. Turn it upside down on a clean fabric surface, or your mouse pad, and rub it all around till the dirt is cleaned out. My scroll quit working in one direction and I searched and searched the community here till I found this relatively easy answer to my problem.
I used my denim jeans and every thing is working a ok now.
    Hope this helps ...

  • Can't swipe between pages on Macbook Air

I was working and noticed my pointer tool wouldn't change from the hand to an arrow. I went to system preferences, looked for something there. I clicked on "trackpad" and looked at the settings but didn't change anything. Since I've closed it I can't swipe betwee pages. I went back to trackpad and the option to swipe with 3 fingers is checked. Any suggestions?

  • Swipe between full screen apps in Powerpoint - skipping screens

Anytime I have multiple PowerPoint presentations in full screen mode, when I swipe from other apps to one of the presentations, it automatically skips a screen. For example, I have two presentations open, each in full screen mode side by side.  When I swipe from my browser (in full screen mode) to the presentation, it skips the first presentation and slides to the next.  And it doesn't matter which direction I swipe from.  The first presentation is always skipped and I have to swipe back to get to it.
Is there a fix for this? Is it a simple setting?  small problem, but annoying.
    Thanks

    Hi there!
I am searching this forum to find somebody that has noticed this weird behaviour. The closest I came so far is your post.
So let me explain a little easier... The problem I think you mean is:
When switching bewtween applications using CMD+TAB it does switch to the space an app is open BUT the app switched to is behind all the other windows on that space. Is that correct?
This problem is also bugging me alot because I am used to to switch fastly between apps and this just renders the whole process useless. The best workaround I found so far is to stop using spaces (or Mission Control) and keep all the apps in one space to prevent this from happening.
I really hope Apple aknowledges this bug very soon because this LION deal is a complete mess. Tons of bugs. No fixes.

  • In safari, if i swipe between pages

For example; from a set of search results to a site and back again.  it appears that my mouse pointer looses focus or does not allow me to click on a link until i've swiped out and in again to the chosen page.
    bug?

    solved!
resetting SMC and then later PRAM will solve the problem.
now safari 7.0.2 does not freeze with swipe gestures any more.
