Swipe gestures in Safari post 10.10.1 update

Hi all,
I have updated the OS to 10.10.1 but ever since swipe gestures on Safari has been acting weird. Whenever I two-finger swipe back, Safari doesn't response and the window gets stuck mid-way. After this, the browser is totally unresponsive to any swipe gestures and the only way to go back or forward is by clicking the back button or forward button. Again, Safari is only limited to these movements (back/ forward) while I can't scroll down/ up. In other words, all trackpad gestures get disabled and the only way out is to quit the browser and restart it. Post this, any trackpad gestures, locks up the browser again.
This has been so only the latest update. Yes, I have restarted the computer several times. I'm not aware if this issue is persistent to any other browsers or not.
Please help me solve the issue asap.
Computer - Macbook Pro early 2011, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD. OS 10.10.1

Hi ..
A Safe Mode boot deletes some system caches that may help after an OS X upgrade.
Top left corner of your screen click the Apple  > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart
Then try Safari.

Safari Won't Scroll After Using Swipe Gesture

This just began a few days ago. Not sure if it's associated with a recent update...
If I try to use the two-fingered swipe to go back a page in Safari not only doesn't the page change, but I get a distorted page that looks as though there were two Safari windows overlapping. In the past, failure to swipe long enough would result in the page starting to move but snapping back into place. Now there is no movement, but this overlapping happens. To the left you can see anywhere from 2/16 to 1/2 inch of repeated/overlapping image. On the right, the scroll bar disappears (or, if the overlap is narrow, becomes nearly invisible). Once this happens the page cannot be scrolled up or down by any means. Refreshing the page or entering a new URL has no effect. The problem persists on every subsequent page loaded. Sometimes closing all windows and then opening a new window will clear it up -but usually I have to completely quit Safari. The problem is easily replicated in Safari on any website, but doesn't appear when I use a different web browser, so I am assuming it's a problem with Safari rather than my trackpad.
Quitting Safari is a very inconvenient workaround. Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas for a solution? I've already reported it as a bug to Apple...

UPDATE: After posting it occurred to me to try some troubleshooting on my own. (I know, I should have done that before posting...)
A restart of the computer did not solve the problem, but zapping the PRAM seems to have cleared it up. At least, since the PRAM reset I can once again use the swipe gestures without crashing Safari. Fingers crossed that it stays fixed.
Just in case someone doesn't know that one: For us old codgers this is called "zapping the PRAM" but nowadays it's "resetting the NVRAM".
Shut down the computer, turn it on again and immediately press and hold the COMMAND, OPTION, P and R keys, let the chime go two more times (for a total of three after the restart) then release all the keys. The computer will finish rebooting. Most instructions will tell you to let go after the second chime, but waiting for the third does no harm, and sometimes succeeds where two doesn't. (Mac For Dummies says "power users" swear by five, or even six chimes...) This action is generally considered safe, but some advise disconnecting peripherals so they don't interfere in some way with the reset.

Swipe gesture not working in safari

After upgrading to Mavericks the swipe gesture (previous page) in safari is not working and if I swipe ( i am so used to it now), it causes the safari to freeze.
Anybody else have same problem

Before Grey screen appears press the folloing button simultaneously...
OPTION+COMMAND+P+R
When Grey screen appear, release and let to continue to boot cycle.

How to enable triplefinger swipe gesture on Windows 8.1?

I've tried to modify the about:config section with no success.
It works only the ALT+TwoFingerGesture to go back and forward on history.
In explorer I can go back and forward with a three finger swipe gesture, can it be enabled on firefox?

The three finger swipe may be an add on, but I do not know.

Problem with magic mouse gestures in safari

iMac 27", mid 2011
16 GB 1333Mhz
Using OS X Yosemite, Safari, Magic Mouse
one day no problem at all, the next day, without any new installations:
Whenever I use the swipe gesture to go back to a previous page,
It does not work and I cannot scroll on this page anymore.
Shutting down Safari and restarting it works.
I read a lot about this, it seems to be a known problem.
I did not use terminal to use direct command for remedy, but tried everything else I read:
power own the mouse, taking battery out, switching off BT for Mouse, several restarts of the iMac etc.
Nothing helps.
As I am so used to the gestures for a very long tome, it takes only seconds, before I swipe back-- and that´s it!
I have to restart Safari.
I would be very thankful for your help!

Thank you for the extremely detailed response.
I think I have the issue solved for the minute at least.
I not only disconnected every cable from the Mac, as I had previously done, I also disconnected every cable from my peripherals and powered down every peripheral as well, then re-wired my set-up. This seems to have solved the issue. Not sure of the technical reason that this would have fixed my problem, but it seems to have fixed the issue for the moment anyway.
So, my problem is solved too!!

TS3366 iOS 7: Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail conflicts with Panning Gesture

Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail is different than the back and forward gesture used to swipe between Home screens. The simple swipe with the thumb straight does not work in Safari and Mail, it conflicts with the Panning gesture. It should be relatively easy to improve the algorithm to allow for that gesture to work.

Indeed, swiping back from pdf pages sometimes works, but most often does not.
It seems that the swiping gesture has in all cases changed slightly. It is now necessary to swipe a little until a portion of the previous page is uncovered, and only then can one swipe back.
The fact that there is a specific way to swipe back from html pages suggests that there might be an equally specific way to swipe back from pdf pages. I am still experimenting. Meanwhile make sure no one is sitting to your right in case your trackpad flies off during a gesture trial.

Trouble with swipe gesture in Mac OS X Lion.

I updated my mac yesterday with Lion. I was so looking forward to the upgrade, however I have stumbled on a problem ever since I upgraded.
The swipe gesture isn' t working correctly for me.
I look at the WWDC 2011 and I checked youtube videos of people that upgraded to Lion as well.
The problem is that the swipe gesture to navigate between windows, and Safari pages is all wrong.
My swipe gesture is moving in the opposite direction then it should, and I can't seem to change it.
From what I have seen, if I swipe two fingers from let to right, it should move the page in Safari from left to right as well. However it doesn't instead of moving from Left to right, it moves from right to left.
The same thing applys with moving between desktop windows.
Any ideas?

Did you un-check the "natural" scroll direction? "Natural" mode makes everything inverted.

The "swipe" gesture has stopped working on my Pre

Although it worked yesterday, today neither the right-to-left swipe gesture nor the "pull up the shortcut icons while I'm in another card/app" swipe gesture works. There's no response from the Pre to these gestures at all. I am able to throw a card off the top of the screen and to dismiss an email or txtmsg notification off the main screen, but the swipe area below the screen seems to no longer respond to touch. Is there something I can do to attempt to reset this? If not, is there somewhere I should call or take my unit to be looked at? Thanks.

My Pre had a similar issue yesterday and early today, then it corrected itself. Nothing I did could fix it. My problem was the swipe feature was going "nuts" all by itself. It kept swiping on its own. Programs would minimize, the deck of cards would move, another program would open, and I could see the touchscreen light up like I was touching it (fingerprint). However, when I would used the touchscreen, It would react as though I was touching a different part of the screen (I touch the right side but an app on the left side of screen would open). It was like the screen needed to be re-calibrated. Also, I could not "throw" cards away (close apps). When I tried the up/down motion, it was interpreted as left to right, so the deck of cards simply moved left to right. I completely turned off the phone (which was a chore since the touchscreen was INOP). The reset did nothing. This morning I tried playing with it again and it was still acting up (but on a lesser scale). I was able to work my way to the reset options page and was going to do a full reset, then I noticed everything started working as it should. Not sure what fixed the problem. I've got my fingers crossed this was just a one-time event!

Swipe gestures not working on iPad or mouse

The swipe gestures to move between windows, or access launch pad are not working. Cannot do secondary button on mouse. Track pad is also not working completely. Not sure what settings I may have fouled up, or just what happened.
Any suggestions?

Help! Trackpad swipe gestures not working - windows 8 pro mc x64

I have windows 8 pro mc x64 with bootcamp 5, on my macbook pro 13" mid 2010, everything worked, but my trackpad has no swipe gestures.
No back/forward with 3 fingers on google chrome for exemple.
Is there a WINDOWS REGISTER mod that would enable this feature?
I tried trackpad++ but no good, and also i don't like it, a lot of junk to install.

Trackpad ++ is the only viable option for swiping et. al and is very simple to install.
If you follow the install instructions and read them thoroughly you'll see what I mean.

2 finger swipe gesture in FF23 on mac

I updated my desktop Firefox to version 23.0 yesterday and my two-finger swipe gestures stopped working.
For a long time I have set in About:Config to browser.gesture.swipe.left -> Browser:PrevTab and browser.gesture.swipe.right -> Browser:NextTab.
Until version 22 there was no problem.
I checked some different settings and found out that with default values to go back and forward in history it works correctly.
I have FireGestures installed (which may affect the gestures) but I tried to uninstall/disable and the problem was still happening.

Remote App No Longer Recognizes Swipe Gestures

I noticed today that the Remote Application no longer accepts left/right and up/down swipe gestures.
It recognizes tapping and the Menu virtual button, but that's it.
Has anyone else experienced this after upgrading to iOS 4.2 and Apple TV 4.1?

I have had this problem CONSISTENTLY since downloading remote app to my iTouch. The controls will work for awhile then it loses that functionality. It's terribly annoying. I have to reset the Apple TV, delete then reload the remote app, etc. It's not worth the trouble when it's purported to be "easy."

Satellite P50T-A016. how to disable edge swipe gestures

I have Satellite P50T-A016 laptop runing windows 8.1 and I'm attempting to turn off the charm bar. After researching various websites/forums, it appears the charm bar is hardwired into windows and Microsoft provides no option to turn it off directly.
These websites/fourms also suggest disabling edge swipes gestures will indirectly turn-off the charm bar.
After I de-select "control pannel -> mouse -> enable edge swipes" and reboot the laptop, edge swipes are still being detected.
Why is edge switpes still enabled?
How to disable edge swipes?

The link and the HowTO helps you to find the touchpad Synaptics settings!
It shows you where to disable or enable settings which would be also related to the touchpad edge swipes.

Well, buddy you are not alone with this opinion but this is how it works and Microsoft decided to design the Win 8/8.1 system in this way

I initially used the swipe gesture to go to the full screen, and since then have not been able to revert to the screen where I can see my program icons. I have reverted to using Firefox. Any suggestions?

When I installed OS 10.7.1 I used the gesture in Safari which displays the full screen. Since then I have been unable to revert this action in order to see my program icons. I have had to use Firefox since then. Any suggestions? Or will I have to wait for an upfate?

this is my first question, and I think it's a iOS-related issue, but I coultn't find a way to ask Apple directly. But maybe you can help me, too
If I took a photo with the Apple PhotoApp and do the swipe-gesture to the right to see the preview of the photo this preview is out of focus. It's only the preview, the picture itself is perfectly focussed. If I take a second picture and do the swipe-gesture again, the newly taken photo-preview is out of focus, if I do the swipe-gesture again - to switch to the photo taken before - this photo is focussed.
The photos that are stored in the album are always focussed and perfect. If I touch the little preview of the last photo in the PhotoApp (lower left side) instead of using the gesture the preview is focussed.
Do you have any ideas? The problem persists for many iOS-Versions. The problem never got corrected. I get my updates OTA.
