Swipe in hortizontal position

I have a new iPad. When it is in VERTICAL position, the swipe on a multi-page PDF file works perfectly. Right to left, left to right.
However, when the iPad is HORIZONTAL position, the swipe only works when swiping left to right. Going from page 1 to page 5, for example.
When I try to swipe back to page 1 from page 5, it is hit or miss, mostly miss. It starts to go, then bounces back.
There is no problem with iBooks.
Am I missing something?

Well, I am doing the exact same action.
When the iPad is vertical, no problem. When horizontal, spotty performance.

And it is only a problem if you want a blank first screen. Personally, it would drive me nuts always having to swipe over one page to get to my apps - the only time I unlock my iPhone is to use it or run an app, so no, I have no need nor desire to have a first screen with no icons at all.
But, if they'd put it in as an option so people like yourself can also have what they want, that's fine too So send them your feedback (they actually do listen - iOS 5 includes a number of things people have been asking for on these forums, like being able to delete individual entries from the call history, inproved alerts/notifications, being able to opt out of all the location based data they collect,...).

Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar, swipe left to right, far left is the orientation lock button, tap on/off. Tap home button when finished.

Can I locate the position of my device, last time it was connected to internet?

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. These are user-to-user support forums, so in almost all cases the only people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
And no, Apple cannot determine the IP address of your device. There is absolutely no way they could. Nothing they do would track and store the IP address of your iPad. Even with an IP address, and even assuming it was a current IP address, locating the device from that IP address would be very difficult and require probably multiple court orders and a lot of effort. I very much doubt that the police would go to that much trouble for a single stolen iPad.
Sorry, but there is nothing Apple nor any of us here can do to help you.

How can i lock the position and size of all of my .app windows?

I have had this problem for a few months now; I would size the window of one of my apps (lets use safari for example) exactly the size i want it, then i position it exactly in the center of my screen because I'm OCD like that, then I'm just browsing the internet and i accidentally move the window so then i have to move it back. Sometimes it gets even worse and for whatever reason, my cursor is down in the lower right part of my window and i accidentally size it, then i have to go back and resize it to where it was. Please help me! there has to be a way to lock my windows positions and sizes! is there a widget or a program out there that can save my life?! Thanks haha

AFAIK, there isn't. All I can suggest is that you quit clicking and dragging the cursor. Use the arrow keys to scroll up and down. I don't have a laptop, but there might be a trackpad setting for the various swipe stuff that comes with them.

Read item, return to previous position

I like being able to swipe through the feed results and read items. But when I go back to the results, I am returned to the start of the results, rather than the last position I was browsing them.
In other words, I have to scroll through to the feed results to the article I just left, to continue reading new content.
I would be great to return to where I was last reading the feed results.

Apparently I don't use Itunes the way the majority of people do becuase this makes Itunes worthless to me and I am irate- I have spent hours and hundreds of dollars on my Itunes library and now it is virtually unusable to me. I upload a CD and want to flip between that and the songs list to confirm no problems in the upload and can't without scolling every time. I just added a book and wanted to reorganize other books in the series to accomodate but, of course, everytime I go to a playlist I have to scroll again when I go back to my "songs" library.
Itunes already was only passable and made my computer run slow. I feel like Mac is essentially screwing me with a poor product since at this time it looks like to me that I'd have to walk away from all my Itunes store purchases to switch to a software that acutally works.
If I was responsible for software this crappy and incompatable I'd be embarassed.

Swipe event handling

Hello all!
I need some help with swiping in my mobile project....
O want swipe between views. So I add addEventListener(TransformGestureEvent.GESTURE_SWIPE, onSwipe); to my View init function
A it is OK. Its work!
But, I also added <s:List> (horizontal) to view. And when i try scroll (swipe) that List horizontally with finger, i also swipe/scroll my View to another!
I understand that it is something with event bubbling , but I don't know how to fix this. I try use removeEventListener(TransformGestureEvent.GESTURE_SWIPE, onSwipe) on navigator.activeView : View when I startTouch List. No positive effect.
So. I would glad for any help.

To swipe between views, there is a new atttibute "pageScrollingEnabled" for List in Flex 4.6

- use addEventListener in viewActivate method,
- use removeListener in viewDeactivate method
- in the method for TransformGestureEvent.GESTURE_SWIPE,
test the target and use event.preventDefault to cancel the event.
- in the method onSwipe, test isDefaultPrevented
(in some case, systemManager that redispatches a cancellable
   version of an event)

Horizontal Swipe to 1st Page of Next Article

I have two articles in a folio. Both individual articles swipe vertically within the article. When I horizontally swipe from Article One to Article Two, how do set it so that you can only swipe to the 1st page of that article Two (even if I had previously been viewing the 3rd page of Article Two)... and visa versa?

You can't. At least not without tweaking the whole Content Viewer's framework, which is only available for Enterprise customers. And even then, I think it would be highly advised not to mess with this carefully growing convention in its user interface. Of course, you can turn each article/page completely into HTML content and script your and your reader's brain out. But as a best practice, you can't and shouldn't. The user needs to retain their sense of 'position' in a publication and each article.

Please do not double post the same question.
Just like I said before. Animate X scale and position. Set the anchor point of the left image to the left side. You can then use an expression or just generate keyframes for scale. When you flip to the next screen then animate position. Easy basic animation except for the bounce. Key framing the bounce so that it looks natural takes a lot of experience or an expression.

There are a bunch of other solutions.
There is no single click solution to this problem and it is not an effect, it is an animation.

Just in case you are not running iOS 7 and don't have the control center feature.....
If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it and you are running iOS 5 or 6, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If you are running iOS 7, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the control center and the lock icon is in the row of icons at the top all the way to the right.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button

I know how to choose to lock the screen in landscape position, though now in iOS7 it doesn't lock. I've tried restarting from various settings (with it to start up in unlocked position, in locked position, in upright position etc.)

Scroll/swipe events controlling timeline for DPS

Actually I am trying to controlling my timeline with events that I can use in my ipad. I export html from to Edge Animate, and I insert in Indesign to digital publishes (DPS).

I would like to know if there is a way to make the scroll smooth. I mean, if you give a little push with your finger and it just scrolls by itself and goes slower at the stop (don´t stop suddenly like in the example). Is this possible?

Note that I've updated both Example and Source links, with a constraint so that if you swipe up, the "timelinePos" variable is constrained to 0, rather than becoming negative (line 25 @ Stage.compositionReady). You might want to re-download my example.
Adding ease to the end of the swipe/timeline scrub is possible in Edge, but it would be a bit unwieldy. Here's the psuedo-code I'd start with:
1) create a variable, "onTouchEndEasePosition", which you'll use to add/subtract from the "timelinePos" value
2) run a setInterval on touchend (be sure to clear it when your value goes down to 0, or a touchstart fires!!)
3) on each tick of that setInterval, decrease (or increase- depending on swipe direction) the "onTouchEndEasePosition" value, and position your playhead on the timeline based on the "onTouchEndEasePosition" value.
Another thing you can try, and this would prob be cleaner than using setInterval, would be to leverage the powerful GSAP library to set the "onTouchEndPosition" variable. On touchend, you could create a Tween with the ease of you choice, and on "tick" of that Tween, increase/decrease your "onTouchEndEasePosition" variable, and position your playhead on the timeline based on that value. See FAQ #15 at bottom for how to listen to the "tick" of a Tween: http://www.greensock.com/get-started-js/
The biggest challenge, I think is to figure out how fast the user was scrolling before lifting their finger. You would need this in order to get the "after scroll" to feel right.
There are a lot of really good jQuery touch scroll plugins, but since you're not actually scrolling content, not sure if they apply to your project. Here is a list of good scroll plugins, but they operate on an actual scroll, so you'd have to make your content scrollable:

Trackpad app that mirrors finger/screen position

Hello folks,
There are many trackpad apps, wondering if anyone has found one that will mirror the position of your finger on your iPhone on the computer screen? I.e. if your finger is in the upper left corner of the iPhone screen then the mouse cursor would be in the upper left corner of your computer screen etc. etc.
Has anyone found a trackpad app that will work this way rather than having to gradually move the mouse cursor around? TIA

Hello, that is an extremely interesting mouse but no it is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about apps that turn an iPhone or iPad into a trackpad to use with your computer. I am wondering if any of these trackpad apps would work similar to a Wacom tablet sans pen. In other words the pointer on the computer screen would go to whatever position correlates to the position of your finger on the iPad or iPhone running the trackpad app. So instead of having to do multiple swipes to take the cursor across the screen you would simply point to the upper right corner of the trackpad app and your cursor would be in the upper right corner of your computer screen. This seems to be a very difficult concept to communicate. There are zillions of trackpad apps for iPhone and iPad, since I do not currently have the time to look through every single one of them for a features list and try them all out, I was hoping someone might have run across this and be able to point me at the correct app.
