Swiping in browsers

In Snow Leopard I was able to move Back and Forward between pages while in any site in a browser by swiping my fingers left or right. Having just installed Mavericks, when I swipe it moves between applications instead. Is there some preference I can set to regain swiping the way I use to?

Ahh! That solved my little problem. Thank you.
For me, since I don't have a trackpad, it was in my Mouse preferences.
I don't show a "Scroll & Zoom" button though, as you show in Trackpad. Is that strictly for a Trackpad?

  • Multi gesture for browsers different from safari

Multi gesture for browsers different from safari, for example right to left scroll to previous page. How to set it like in Snow Leopard?

THe only gesture to change tabs is to tap the tab in the address bar. You can go back a page in a website by holding one finger on the left side of the screen and swiping right. You can go back to a previous app by placing four fingers on the right side of the screen and swiping left.

  • Hi guys. Just a quick question. My wife has a Mac Book Pro and when she is browsing the web she can use a two fingered gesture to go back to her previous page (by swiping from right to left). Is there any way to set that up on my iPad Mini. Many thanks.

Not in the Safari browser she can't. That is not supported on the iPad. There are other mobile browsers that do have that functionality - one is iCab Mobile.

  • Does command f scroll to words automatically like other browsers?

When I press Command+F  I see that the searched words are highlighted but when I hit the arrows it merely jumps to the next word without scrolling the page.  This kind of makes searching a large website pointless, as I'll have to scroll through manually anyway's.  Yes, it does highlight the word but I would think hitting the arrows next to the Find function would scroll to the words automatically.  It is kind of surprising that all the other browsers have this function and Safari doesn't? UNLESS, something is wrong with my Safari? (I have trashed preferences, cleaned cache, restarted Safari, you know all the basic protocol).
Hope someone can help me with this question.
    Thanks a bunch.

It certainly appears to be broken on my macbook, ever since I ugraded to 6.1. I use the Find command regularly, and have been for years.
Now what seems to happen, is when I try to use the Find command for the first time in a browser window, it works normally, and I can search multiple times for different words on the same page.
Now, if I go to another page, then swipe back to any previous page in my history, then things start to go screwy.  At this point, after swiping back to a previous page, if I use the Find command again, it doesn't work properly, and I can no longer scroll up and down on that page and none of the links work, and I have to open a new browser window or tab for it to work properly again.

  • Legacy project vs new browsers

Hi all, I have one client project for whom we still use TCS1, for updates about twice a year. This is the only client we use it for, so we have never upgraded. We do have a copy of RH10 standalone, but otherwise we have been increasingly using Flare (I am the lone hold-out, I like RH).
So the client has just observed that the webhelp cannot be viewed in Chrome, and I confirmed that that was a known issue. I suggested that HTML5 might be a better output for newer browsers/versions, so the options would be to upgrade to the current TCS ($1200 the boss is not anxious to absorb for one client), or convert the project to Flare (which might be a better solution to use Lingo for translation). The client is reluctant to switch to HTML5 because some clients still use older browsers, e.g. IE8, that don't fully support HTML5.
I also just discovered that the current help files don't work in IE10 (topic pane is blank). I know RH10 and 11 have a fix for this. So I had the brainwave to upgrade the RH project, after conversion into RH8 via TCS, to RH10, so that the webhelp *should* work in all browsers/versions.
Unfortunately, RH10 would not comply. First I got the message "Error in reading RHFrameStyleMappings.apj file", followed by "Open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load database for <cpd filename>". I deleted the cpd file, and then the apj file, but got the same messages.
Do you see any way to get Webhelp that works in older and newer browsers, using the tools I currently have?
    I appreciate any input,
    Laurie

Thanks, Willam, I'll try that. The immediate concern has been alleviated, as the developer has confirmed that they are able to open the existing help files, as created with TCS1, in IE10 without any problem. They didn't work for me on the test site I had access to, but confirmed they worked on a different site. He told me he had to make the following change to the webserver:
"What happens is helpfiles uses xml files that were blocked by the application’s web.config file via this line…
    <add name="xml" verb="*" path="*.xml" type="System.Web.HttpForbiddenHandler" />
I had to change it to…
    <add name="xml" verb="*" path="model.xml" type="System.Web.HttpForbiddenHandler" />"
So we are ok for now, but I think a tool change is inevitable. Based on internal discussions, the consensus is that if the client is determined to continue requiring a PDF, we should upgrade to TCS, because it was felt that Word would choke on an almost 500-page output en route to generating the PDF. However, if they are willing to drop the PDF, and are serious about getting into translation, Flare/Lingo might be the better route.

  • My browsers keep freezing up until I have to forcequit. Firefox freezes at start-up and safari works for a bit but usually freezes when opening tabs. When I try to submit a crash report in either case, it always tells me "submission failed".

This started yesterday night. I tried to restore firefox to yesterday morning's time machine version, but no dice. No idea what's causing it, I haven't installed anything.
The refusing to submit my crash reports really confuses. I don't know if it's applicable to everything or just browsers - browsers are the only thing that have crashed.
    Thanks for the help!

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • OWA Calendar not showing month view in non-IE browsers

I've got a user who can't see the Month view on his OWA calendar. He's the only user complaining - Month view loads fine on my Exchange account across all browsers and operating systems.
I can see the Month view on his account when I log in with IE, but not with any other browser, Windows and Mac.
Any ideas? I'm at a total loss here, I've been in and deleted recurring appointments, but nothing else looks out of the ordinary. Everything else works, it just won't load the month view in non-IE browsers and he's the only one affected.
    Any clues appreciated, thank you!

    Hi,
The Microsoft OWA web interface has two versions: OWA Premium and OWA Light. OWA Premium which can achieve calendar month view is only accessible when using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser.
If you’re using any other browser, we can use OWA Light. In light version, the OWA feature is not rich like OWA Premium. As for Calendar view, there is only daily view in OWA light.
About Calendar view in third-party browser, please contact the third-party browser support for more helps.

  • I can no longer print from a website. I can from other browsers but not Mozilla. Help

I used to be able to print any time I needed to. Then the print became so small I could not read it. Then the pages I printed from the website, printed blank pages. I contacted Thunderbird because this was first noted on email when I tried to print something from a website, they told me it was a Mozilla problem. So I then tried to print straight from the website and got the same thing. Nothing. The page is completely blank when printed.

These suggestions are not the problem and I have contacted HP and they have run all the diagnostics and they say the problem is not with the printer or the software. All other browsers print, just not Mozilla

  • How do I get rid of the compromising software that Adobe sneakily installed on my browsers?

I am disgusted with Software companies like Adobe that treat their users with disrespect and contempt. They feel that they have the right to just download whatever they want and install it without anyone's approval.
Downloading Flash was an absolute joke.  First Adobe shoves 1 useless piece of crap software in your face after the other and they keep popping up a window to install driver software. If you decline each one, then they do not download the Flash player. Worse, they just go ahead and install their crap in your browsers despite the declines.
And Shame on you Adobe. Are you that desperate that you have to try and force-feed other software to your users? Makes me sorry that I ever purchased your CS suite.
Does anyone know how to get Adobe's crap unwanted software off my windows computer running XP?

  • What's wrong with my browsers?

When i first got my macbook the internet was going really slow but then i changed the dns server to 4.2.2.2 and sometimes change it to 4.2.2.1 and the internet got better but now my browsers are acting funny.
One moment i'm surfing webpages with safari or firefox.... Chatting with AdiumX or MS Messenger... and suddenly it just stops... Msn is getting time-out's, Safari says I'm not connected.
But Airport sais it is still connected to my wireless network (with all the black bar's filled). It has valid IP adress etc, But everywhere I want to go on the internet it sais I'm not connected.
When I disconnect the airport en let it reconnect with my wireless network, the connection is fine.
    how can i fix this?

Most users shouldn't be manually entering DNS addresses, and those DNS addresses you mention probably aren't intended for end users. Is Level3 your ISP?
That doesn't answer 'what's wrong with my browsers?', but a good start would be to configure your network according to your ISP's instructions. If you have DNS problems then, you might try using OpenDNS.

  • Images in non-Safari browsers not full color

I find that on some web sites, Facebook in particular, the JPEG images are washed-out. In Safari all images display correctly. In Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera they are washed-out. If I right-click the image and save it, it will display correctly in Preview. I think this behavior began after an OS X update months ago. I took some screen captures today to illustrate the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Using OS X 10.9.5 on a 2012-vintage Mac mini with a calibrated, Samsung external monitor (S23C350: Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz (1080p); Pixel Depth:    32-Bit Color (ARGB8888))
    Cheers,
    Paul

Today, 2014-10-09, I see all the browsers display images correctly. How odd. I don't see any obvious updates to system software. Safari last updated to v7.1 on September 20, before my post. In any case, this problem is (magically) solved.
    Paul
P.S. I wonder where my screen captures went. The did include a picture of Jack Ma from a news site. Kind of hard to illustrate the problem if they are auto-removed somehow.

  • Adobe Bridge Web Gallery looks great in all browsers except Firefox 13

I'm not sure if this is a coding issue within Dreamweaver or if it has to to with the bridge gallery. The gallery looks perfect in all of the browsers except for Firefox 13 and Firefox 11 OSX.  Firefox pushes it all the way to the left.   Any help would be much appreciated!   Thanks
    http://carrizoworkforcehousing.com/gallery.htm

Looks OK to me in Firefox 13.  Can't see anything in IE - probably because I don't have Flash  for that browser.  Which brings up another point.  Many browsers/devices don't support Flash.  If your target audience uses iPhone, iPad or iTouch, they won't see anything.
If you do a Google search for jQuery photo galleries, you'll find a bunch that DO work in all browsers.

  • Can not open my yahoo mail. Can't find on server but can open in all other browsers

Yahoo mail will not open in Firefox new 4.0 or older versions.
However, I can open in Safari and IE7.
Have talked to several folks that are having the same problem and most are just switching to other browsers and the problem goes away. I would prefer to solve the problem rather than just giving up and switching permanently to another browser. Different computers and I have the same problem. Copying the mail address from IE7 to firefox and it still can not find the mail account. Does find other web addresses just fine. It is something to do with yahoo mail.

if that is giving you a problem you might wanna look into
the app called yahoo one connect
its free and it can help with any problem you are
    getting with yahoo mail
or at least till apple looks into your problem

How export to csv work in safari browser?
In my application export to csv open like a raw data in new tab.
    But other browsers working great!.
Need to open in a csv file or save it as a csv file.
Please suggest me. Thank you in advance!.

    Hi Adrian,
Why don't you try any another software for opening CSV files then Notepad ? According to my experience, you can use these softwares to open an CSV files and they are:-
    Microsoft Excel
    Open Office Calc
    Google Docs
Also there is an additional tool available known as CSV viewer. You may try this, download it from here http://www.csvviewer.com/
I've never used Notepad for opening CSV files, because sometimes it contains some symbols which are not not at all compatibile with Notepad.

    Hello audreywisc,
Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
