hello, does anyone know if it is possile to get a macbook in the united states with a swiss german keyboard and not the standard USA keyboard...i saw that a western spanish keyboard is available, but i need a swiss german...

1. Textured island style black finish for use in Switzerland 719853-BG

Please select which one best suits your needs, you can order the keyboard from: HP Parts Surfer, make sure to select your country in the top right hand corner.
Also be sure to check out the Removal and replacement procedures for your keyboard also found on page.56 of your Maintenance and Service Guide.

hey thats great, my arch linux works now
but there is one thing:
i loaded my swiss german keyboard layout with
loadkeys de_CH-latin1
and this worked wonderfull. i added it into the X config. but now, there is one problem:
i just can't get all functions on which a have to press the ALT GR key (such as the at or the line etc. etc.)
does anyone know how to fix that ? i really need my at

can anyone pls help me with this. plus anbody explain me how this very basic feature that millions of people are using billions of times every day can be that hard to find on a mac?? there is hundreds of posts about this, but nothing for the swiss german keyboard. and apple: can you please make this just that simple and great as all the rest. thank you so much.

well what you are saying is obvious to me. This is not the point for me and not what I wanted to know. But I think you answered my question anyway: OS X is unable to switch between windows of the same application as I mentioned in my example.
WHY NOT???
Every other OS is able to differentiate between windows and not just applications.
Another example: The Mail application and an Email editor window. When you are writing an Email and you want to switch to the main window of the Mail application to read something you must again use the mouse!
I mean Apple seems to be "somehow" using FreeBSD in the background and even in FreeBSD's window manager it is possible to switch between windows of the same application.
Well, in the Apple world it is always the pour user who is not intelligent enough to understand Apple's philosophy ;-(
To me this is not modern, it is simply a weakness of the OS.

my mac air has US keyboard. can I change to Swiss German keyboard?

well, I am not an expert, but you can change the keyboard language and import information by going to system preferences and then "Language and text " .
You will scroll down to 'language and text preferences' and go to all the tabs at the top here. Input your settings for language, text, formats etc.. Go last to :input sources : put in.:Swiss/German and then go to input source options and click on "use the same language on all documents ".
That is all I can tell you..

How can I change from the Swiss german language to the Swiss french language and have a keyboard with accent

I have uggraded the soft on my iPad and now I have not anymore the swiss french keyboard with accent. I am wondering what to do to go back to a french version ? Thanks for your help.

Hello!
Open System Preferences from the  menu.
Then choose the "Language & Text" tab.
Then choose "Input Sources".
If you first check "Swiss German", you will be able to uncheck the UK layout. Or you can keep both and be able to switch rapidly between them if you check "Show Input method in menu bar".

LR 4 and swiss french keyboard issues

I was looking for the french forum but I was redirected on this one ?
I am just starting with this product and I have identified some issues.
- The shorcut contextual menu is not working
- The shorcuts rotations are not working.
- The french translation for the rotations shortcuts are wrong. It displays the MAC OS shorcuts.
- Material : swiss french keybord logitex LX700, LR 4 version 4.0 (2012.04.30) and Windows Vista.
Is it working for you ?
Do I missed something during the installation ?

Issue with German Keyboard

I live in India but i brought my macbook in Switzerland. Now I have the "german keybaord" and i need to remember the keys present in English Keyboard to type (this is coz i opted for some settings in first start up).
Now i want to stick to german keyboard, i want to type in what i see on my keyboard.
How is it possible?

If u bought it in Switzerland, you shouldn't have a German Keyboard!
It's actually a Swiss German or Swiss France Keyboard. To change the Keyboard Layout you go to System Pref. -> International -> Input Menu -> choose Swiss German / Swiss France Keyboard depending which one you have built in.

How can I use premiere pro cc in english language with german keyboard layout/german shortcuts on a mac?

how is it possible to use a german keyboard with its german shortcuts on premiere pro cc in english language on a mac?
I use all my softwares in english.
But aside adobe I can use or change in other softwares (Avid, FCP7, FCPX) to use german keyboard shortcuts on a german logic keyboard.
With After Effects CC I could add a german .txt to a language folder to the installed english version and tataaa:
I could use german keyboard and the german shortcuts on an english installed AE CC.
And in PS there is also a trick.
But in Premiere Pro CC this language .txt doesn´t exist.
And there are many shortcuts that differ from english to german.
Last Job I worked on a PC with the english installed language version, and I could work with the german QWERTZ Logickeyboard
and use the german shortcuts.
I googled and googled and even talked to the support. But no real helpful answer.
Maybe it was easier to do in Premiere CS6. Was it possible there?
So how is it possible to use a german keyboard QWERTZ with german shortcuts on Premiere Pro CC in english language on a mac?

I'd also love to have the answer on this.
It's really bothering. All Training material is in english and I have setup my complete system with all apps in english.
With all the apps shortcuts work just fine, just with Premiere Pro CC it doesn't do it at all .....
Please fix this!

Caret character in numbers (iWork09) not working with german keyboard

The caret caracter used to express "power to" in formulas can not be typed into formulas with the german keyboard layout. Using the caret key nothing happens. For text and strings in cells the caret key works. In iWork08 everything is fine. For formulas the caret character has such to be inserted using copy and paste.
This is more or less a bug report. I could not find a way to tell Apple directly.

My daughter will soon go for 1 year to the US. I would like to buy a MB pro or MB air for her. Since she will return after this year to Germany, I am looking for an opportunity to get a model with German keyboard layout. In the online store, only US, french and spanish are available.

I type German on the US keyboard all the time without having to switch keyboard layouts:
option-u followed by a u o (and other letters, too) gives you ä ü ö ï
option-s gives you ß
option-2 gives you €
You can even to French:
option-` followed by, for example e, gives you è
option-e followed by, for example e, gives you é
option-c gives you ç
option-i followed by e gives you ê
There are [many more such combinations|http://www.usingmac.com/2007/12/12/100-mac-keyboard-shortcuts-for- creating-symbols] that yield other special characters.
You can set up the built-in spell check to automatically detect what language you are writing in and you're set
Personally I find the US keyboard much nicer to work with. I'm sure your daughter will get used to it and your wallet will thank you.

I am travelling in a couple of weeks to the US and wanted to order upfront online a new MBair.
Does someone knows if I can order online a german keyboard so that by picking up the notebook (in a store) it will already assembled?
The western spanish keyboard is slightly different from the german and would be therefore just a 2nd choice option.

Caret on german keyboard

I am running Lion 10.7.3 with al current updates. I frequently switch between german and english typing and to date have been switching keyboards back and forth, but there is a problem. A week ago I changed my password to include a caret symbol, and unlike most other german keyboards this one does not have a caret. Is there another keyboard layout with easy access to symbols, ß,ä,ö,ü, and that also has caret. And one more request, one that does not switch the y and the z keys. So, summing up: primarily I just care about the caret on the german keyboard, while if my computer goes to screensaver or sleep while on the german keyboard I could not log back in while I could not switch the keyboard or type a caret.

-has a caret (^)
-does not switch y and z
*****The ability to change input at the login screen on wake from sleep or screensaver********
**Note for Trolls: Yes I have already switched my password to not include caret, but caret is useful in bash.
