Switch cables from AEBS to TC

I used the latest software when I set up AEBS. Can I just unhook the AEBS and plug in the cables to TC and have it work?

Have it work... to replace your existing AEBS? Yes, provided you have configured your Time Capsule (for connection to your ISP, and your existing wireless computers) identically to the way you set up the AEBS.

    Hi all
I have problem with Nokia PC Suite.
    WinXP S2
    Nokia PC Suite 6.84.10.3 cz
    non-nokia cable ca42usb
    Nokia 3220
After i switch off cable from my USB port servicelayer.exe take me 100 % of PC process. I must CTRL+ALT+DEL and shutdown this process.
I try all. Close Nokia PC Suite, install new driver for cable, off my Nokia.
    Thanks. Steve

    It's a bug in PC suite 6.84.
Hopefully it will be fixed in 6.85 when it is released.
6.83 works fine and is far more stable and reliable than 6.84.

What do I have to do to my Apple Extreme to switch it from a DSL broadband modem to a cable modem?

Did you do the factory reset of the AE?? That is necessary. The AE keeps too many values from the last setup to easily move to a new configuration.
The quick method of factory reset.
Please look at Time Capsule (TC) as the same thing as the Extreme.
    Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.
The power cycle of the cable modem is very important.. it has to be off completely for 20min and sometimes longer.. overnight. Some battery backup version modems do not go off without removing the battery.. even unscrew the coax cable.
Make sure when you power up the modem only the AE is plugged in. Make sure the AE is set to router mode.. DHCP + NAT.. and is plugged in WAN port to the LAN port of the modem.
If you keep having trouble post again..
We need to know the model of the AE and firmware it is running.
Also what version utility on what OS you are setting it up from.

Do as the picture suggests. Connect your iPad to iTunes using the supplied USB cable.

  • Re:  Is ethernet cable to AEBS (b/g) faster than wireless connection?

Just wondering if an ethernet cable from my AEBS (b/g) to my older iMac G5 (2.0 GHz) is faster than having it connected wirelessly?

What ethernet would I likely have? Fast ethernet?
Your AEBS comes with a combination 10/100 Mbps "fast" Ethernet switch built-in.
When would one encounter a gigabit ethernet?
The newer 802.11n (2nd generation) AEBSn and Time Capsule have Gigabit Ethernet capability. To take advantage of this technology all devices would need to be Gigabit Ethernet enabled.
The short of it is that if my AEBS is b/g, the max would be 54 mbps and a fast ethernet would almost double this. yes?
    Correct.

  • How to set up my airport extreme to share my net connection. i have a ethernet cable from my isp which when i use in my mac, i have to enter username

I access net through ethernet cable from my isp. so i just plug in the cable in my mac and in the browser it put the username & password. now i want to use my airport express to create a wireless network so i can access net from ipad and mac simultaneously. when i use airport express both my mac & ipad gets connected to airp exp but each of them ask for isp's username and password. i can only login from either one of them and access net in that one only. Pls advice???

To allow your Mac to "see" the HDD attached to an AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) that is configured as a bridge, just be sure to assign a static Private IP address to the AEBS. By default the AEBS is a DHCP client and will get a dynamic IP address from the upstream router that is acting as the DHCP server. Since this address can change over time, it would make it more difficult for network clients to find the HDD.

  • HELP!:TB switching to/from car/desktop mode on its own and won't connect to computer

When I charge my Thunderbolt, it will randomly switch to/from desktop mode on its own. Also, it won't recognize the VZW car mount any longer. I have the app to turn on the car mode, but occasionally it will turn off, on its own, as well.
In addition to all this, my computer can't find my TB, no matter what setting I use to "Connect to PC"!
    Can anyone help?

Thank you lemew for your reply.
    Hello snowbdr88
The problems your describing with your device, sound very irritating. Let's get this fixed as soon as possible.
Did this issue start after you downloaded an application? If so please delete the application and retest.
Please power the device in safe mode and retest. Here's the link for safe mode: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=40136
Here are the instructions for USB connection:
USB Mass Storage Mode: Allows user to transfer files between PC and device's MicroSD Card.
The device must contain a memory card and be connected to a PC via a USB cable for this feature to work.
From the home screen, touch and hold the window shade (located at the top of the screen).
Drag the window shade to the bottom of the screen
    Enable USB Mass Storage
From the window shade, touch option below Ongoing Notification options, the below window will display once user
    has connected device to PC.

  • System hangs up on plugging the USB cable from SCXI1600 into my PC

    Hello there,
My PC hung up twice during installation on plugging the USB cable from SCXI1600 into my PC.  I have installed Labview 7.1
followed by NI-DAQmx 7.4 drivers.  I then plug in the cable into one of the USB ports and then switch the power on on the chassis,
SCXI-1000.  My PC immediately goes into safe mode switches off and turns back on.  I do not know why this has happened.  It has worked
    fine prior to this.

    Morning!
I figured out why my system was switching to safe mode and shutting the moment I plugged in the USB cable from my SCXI-1600.  That was the instruction coming in from Norton Anti-Virus which saw the power and data coming through the USB as a serious intrusion into the system and automatically shuts down even without asking me.  I now need to know how to change the setting on the Anti-Virus to recognise SCXI as a client on my computer.
Thank you to anyone thinking about this prob.
    Cheers.

  • Mac Mini server OSX 10.6.5 & Airport config: cable/modem--AEBS--Mac mini

I'm new to OSX server, and have recently had to change locations of a OSX 10.6.5 Mac Mini. I am setting it up now as a home server and need to access from outside the home. I have had a wonderfully operating AEBS for many years, but once I started trying to set-up the mac mini server, I started having problems configuring the server to play nicely with the AEBS.
Back to basics, because for what I need the AEBS is sufficient (and technically capable) of acting in concert with my mini server (from all I've read, anyway). I just cannot configure them correctly without causing problems.
    Equipment:
    AEBS w/ version 7.4.1
    Mac Mini OSX 10.6.5
    iMac OSX 10.6.5
    (2) MacBook Pros 10.6.5
    (2) iPhones IOS 4.2
I have a static (known) IP from my ISP. I have no problem with configuring the AEBS to work with everything, until I plug in the mac mini. I realize the older configuration for the prior server set-up is incorrect, but making minor adjustments for moving to a AEBS from the Cisco UC500 set-up has been greater than my technological experience.
I am versed in networking, but cannot seem to get the correct configuration, and the only thing the Apple manuals have is a 'possibility' this can be done, but no specifics I can find for controlling the AEBS settings from the mac mini when connected on the LAN port of the AEBS (that's when the problems start).
Here's where I've tried and cannot access the Serv Admin program when I connect the mac mini to the AEBS LAN port:
    (1) changed AEBS Connection sharing to Share a public ip address
(which I understand makes "advanced" "port mapping" possible)
    (2) set AEBS Internet connection to connect to router on 192.168 network
    (3) set AEBS to offer DHCP in 10.0.1 range
    (4) set AEBS capsule own address to be 10.0.1.1
PLUG in ethernet cable to Mac Mini and Time Capsule
    Activate Ethernet and deactivate Airport
    (5) set Mac Mini Server Manual ip address to 10.0.1.2
    (6) set Mac Mini Server DNS addresses to 127.0.0.1, 10.0.1.1
    (7) set Mac Mini Server / Server Admin / DNS / Zones / Machine name / IP Address = 10.0.1.2
Any advice on where to start trouble-shooting?

I think you're trying too hard...
I have zero tech or network expertise, but my Mac mini server intalled without a hitch on my home network of three other Mac desktops (Ethernet from AEBS), a MacBook, and a PC laptop, both via the AEBS wireless. The AEBS is connected to a cable modem.
I also have a static IP for my AEBS.
If you hook up your server, computers, and AEBS first and then reinstall Mac OSX Server, the server set-up will configure your network for you. You shouldn't have to set your own IPs at all...
I'm no genius at this stuff and I'm mostly playing around and experimenting, but we use file sharing, a common calendar, a family Wiki, centralized backup, and also run iTunes continuously to serve an Apple TV.
Let Apple do the work for you. See if the defaults work before tweaking it. It worked out of the box for me... Good luck.

I can't seem to find an app that costs my available balance. iTunes said I need to spend it ALL before I can change stores. This means I cannot totally change stores.... Hopeless.

    Hi,
Already mentioned on the following post:
       http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/VGA-on-laptop-HDMI-on-TV-needs-connected/m-...
You need a CONVERTER, not ADAPTER The setup:
    The following list may help:
         http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/sis.html?_kw=HDMI+To+VGA+COMPONENT+Adaptor+A+V+Digital+Converter
Laptop (VGA) ---- Converter from VGA to HDMI ------ TV
You also need sound, you can buy a converter with sound OR connect sound directly from laptop to TV.
    Regards.

  • How do I connect my Time Capsule directly to the internet cable from the wall?

My Time Capsule only works if I connect it to my wireless router with a LAN cable. But, when I plug the cable from the wall directly into the Time Capsule, it just blinks orange. What am I not doing right?

There is no modem in the TC.. you need a modem.. your wireless router is actually a modem router.. not just a modem.. so it could be replaced with a straight modem.. sometimes.. it can be bridged .. sometimes..
But you still haven't told us enough.. what broadband do you have?
What model is the existing modem router? How does it authenticate to the ISP?
Once we know those things we can suggest further options.

  • HT5824 I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off..

I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.

If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

  • I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV?  I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV.

I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV?  I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV.  This feature seems to be lost in the Mountain Lion upgrade.  Did Apple feel that once Mountain Lion came out that EVERYONE would have Apple TV?  There are no settings in System Preferences/Display like there used to be...only for AirPlay Mirroring.

Running a cable to the HDMI port is still supported. (and still works on mine).
If the Arrangement tab in System Preferences > Displays isn't present then it doesn't recognize the physical connection.  Double check all cables.  If that doesn't work try a PRAM reset:
