Switch Default Burner Drive?

Does anyone know how to change the default location of the CD burner...itunes sends the burn request to a CD burner drive that does not work and I don't know how to change it to my new HP external DVD/CD burner (called the H drive)

I would like to know as well. You'd think that would be a simple menu operation, like in Toast...

  • How to use DB2 XA driver instead of default DB2 driver

    Hi,
I've been using the default DB2 driver (com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver) for a datasource until now. I need to switch to using an XA approved driver to handle some two phase commits. It appears Oracle has an XA driver for DB2 (weblogic.jdbcx.db2.DB2DataSource) but whenever I use it I get the following error:
[BEA][DB2 JDBC Driver][DB2]PROGRAM NAME NULLID.DDJU360B 0X4A44424334444232 NOT FOUND IN PLAN null
What does this error mean? How can I switch to an XA DB2 driver?
    Thanks...

    DB2 running on AIX:
    select * from sysibm.sysversions;
    7010200     2001-04-11 17:01:21.478428     WBDID04
    8020000     2005-02-01 19:55:13.083939     SYSIBM
    8020800     2007-09-08 08:16:45.496058     WBDID04
WebLogic Server 10.3 running on Windows XP.
Using the XA driver works fine for WebLogic Server 8.1 and the existing DB2 database. So, I'm wondering what went wrong when I upgraded to 10.3.
The error happens on server startup when it's trying to test the connection:
    <25-May-2010 3:28:44 o'clock PM GMT-06:00> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMY1" set up for pool "csp" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLException: [BEA][DB2 JDBC Driver][DB2]PROGRAM NAME NULLID.DDJC360B 0X4A44424334444232 NOT FOUND IN PLAN null".>
    Any ideas?

  • IMovieHD, "No disc burning drive found" and "The movie could not be sent.."

First post in these subject forums. I am posting the same problem in iDVD and iMovieHD which were from iLife'05, but I won't post there.
I loaded iLife'05 and also managed to get iDVD5 loaded although the packaging indicated that I needed to have a 733mhz G4 or faster processor and I have a Prismo Powerbook, 500 mhz and it was successful or maybe not.
Then I opened iDVD, I got this Error message..."The application iDVD could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found"...which makes sense as I have an external Lacie (CD-R,-RW, DVD-R,-RAM,-RW,R,+RW,R DL) burner that I bought about a year ago that my wife also uses on her G4 tower.......... and I did not have it connected. So I connected it and when I opened iDVD again and it still reads: "The application iDVD could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found." Shut down and reboot, no difference.
This probably does not have any bearing on the issue but in the System Profiler for "Disk Burning" there is a parameter "Burn Support" which is "Yes (Unsupported)", should this be "Yes (supported)"?
Question #1: Does iDVD5 only work with an Apple "superdrive" or does it work with other third party "DVD burners" ?
So I used iMovieHD from iLife'05 to create a project of an old family vacation (from an old 8mm Sony Handycam) and wanted to create a DVD, for archive reasons and to view on TV with a DVD player, but I could not do anything because of different errors now in iMovieHD.
File > Share...(a window opens and I choose iDVD and then click the "share" button) and this error comes up:
The movie could not be sent to iDVD, because of an unknown error.
"Please make sure that iDVD is properly installed, that your project disk has write permission, and that you have enough disk space. (Error 0)"
Next I tried: File > Burn Project to Disc......and this error comes up.
    No Disc Burning Drive Found
"If you have an apple-supported disc burner, please check your connections and try again."
The project file is 5.89GB and I have 57.97GB free on the hard drive so I don't think that space on the hard drive is an issue.
Question #2: Is the issue of not being able to create a DVD from iMovieHD related to the iDVD issue although the error messages in iMovieHD and iDVD are different?
Question #3: How are Video DVD's from the Hollywood Studios able to make DVD's longer than 2 hours?
Thanks all for your help in advance. John

One more addition to this post, I opened DVD Player and got this error "There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found (-70012)
Maybe this will help give someone a clue.

  • "need to restart computer" after switching laptop hard drives.  HELP!

i have a 13" macbook pro. I just got an older generation 15" macbook pro (refurbished from apple) because i need the pci port.
    i switched the memory
    i switched the hard drives
15" macbook pro (the one i just got) works like a charm
13" macbook pro keeps prompting me to restart the computer after the apple picture comes up. In other words, snow leopard won't even boot up
    Any suggestions???

If you switched drives then your new computer now has an older version or an older build of OS X that cannot boot the new computer because it does not have the required hardware support extensions.
You have two options: 1. Switch the drives back; 2. Reinstall OS X on the new computer using the discs that came with it. This will not erase your files but it will install a fresh copy of OS X that works with your new computer. A reinstall will take about one hour plus or minus.

  • My external drive switched from g drive to f, my itunes won't change to drive f, and it says drive g is unavailable, what can I do?

This is not the easiest sight to sign up for and submit a question. However my external drive switched from g drive to f. As I downloaded the new version of itunes it won't change from g drive to f drive when I click the button to change.  It just says g drive is unavailable to download itunes which I already aware of but it won't let me browse and find the right drive my external drive is on.  It won't configure or anything what do I do?

Change the drive letter back to G:

    Hello again,
Sorry that I wasn't much help, however I just remembered this site, which lists everything that can be added to any mac, and they have a list of drives that will work. Even if it doesn't solve your query, it's a useful site to know.

  • Need recommendation for external DVD burner drive!

I'm one of the officers for a film club at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Recently, I discovered that we had, in our offices, a fully-functional, if not somewhat dated, iMac G4. After getting the neccessary OS X upgrades (it's now running the latest version, 10.4.8), I need to upgrade the CD drive, which is currently just a CD burner drive. It can't even play DVDs, much less burn them, both things we need to have working if we want people in our organization to be able to use this computer.
Since I don't want to physically remove the drive and replace it with an internal DVD burner drive, I'd like a recommendation for a good external one. I noticed that there's only one option on the Apple Store, the LaCie d2 DVD+/-RW Drive, and that doesn't look like it's been getting very good reviews. Does anyone have any other options I could choose from?

    Good point Keith.
I have no experience of this model but this one from OWC (a company who get very good press on these boards) promises iDVD 5 and 6 support. It's somewhat cheaper than the Lacie in the Apple store but doesn't have Lightscribe.

  • How do I choose a default startup drive?

I have two startup drives on my Hard Drive. One is Snow Leopard and the other is Leopard. I need Leopard for some printing issues with Photoshop and Epson. How do I choose a default startup drive? Most of the time I want the Snow Leopard drive at startup but it seems to always start up on Leopard. I need to always hold down the option key at startup. Sometimes I forget.

    noondaywitch wrote:
System Preferences > Startup Dive > select the drive with 10.6.x I suspect you may need to do that for both systems. Click the lock to prevent further changes, then do an option-boot and ensure it'll let you start from the other.
Macs store a reference to the default startup drive set in System Preferences > Startup Drive in PRAM, so you don't have to set it individually for each drive or partition -- as long as the selected one is available at startup time, that is the one the Mac will start up from. (Otherwise, it will be the first available one found. If none capable of starting up the Mac are found instead the flashing slashed circle with the question mark in it won't go away, indicating the Mac is still waiting for you to make one available, for instance by powering up an attached external drive or inserting a bootable DVD.)
The option key startup method temporarily overrides this & allows you to choose another drive or partition, but just for that startup -- the next time you start up normally, it will revert to the selected one.
Also, the lock in System Preferences has nothing to do with making preference settings permanent or persistent. It is just a security feature to prevent unauthorized users from making changes from an already logged in user account. For instance, it makes no difference if the lock is closed or open at startup time, because that is before the OS is running or able to check preference file settings stored on disks. During the early stages of the boot process, code resident in firmware checks for depressed keys & buttons before loading the OS from the default source set in PRAM. This is how it decides if it should instead run the Startup Manager (evoked by the option key), first eject a CD or DVD (evoked by the eject key or primary mouse button), or start up from an alternate source like an installer DVD (evoked by the C key).

  • Default VGA driver can let me increase resolution between '800x600' to '1024X 768'?

    Hi,
I was told that the initial VGA is an standard,
800x600 or similar, only gives me the option to show image but not some other possibilities like external display, clone display and those stuffs.
The specific VGA (FX 5200) driver, give to your rig the "possibility" to address all the image process to an specific device, in this case, the FX 5200 and add some extra functions like external display (at different resolutions),
clone display, extend display...and those stuffs.
However, I noticed that while using the default VGA driver, then I could increase 'resolution from '800X600' to 1024x768 Pixels. Also, the 'colour quality' to 32Bit or 16Bit, although it is intial, standard
VGA, I could change the resolution.
    Thus, my questions are:
First:  what benefit is there from instlling the driver of the default VGA as long as I can change the screen resolution into '1024X 768' while using default VGA driver, which means that icons, and display would be OK??
Second:  With using a default VGA driver on
any Computer, there are only  '800x600' to '1024X 768'? (I.e. The resolution of all default monitor can be only between   800x600 and '1024X 768'?
A man should convert his anger and sadness into strength to continue living in this life.

For best performance and appearance, it's prudent to install the latest video adapter driver available from the
support web site of the manufacturer of the video chip.

  • Default boot drive

As part of my testing routine to try to narrow down the reboot-on-wake issue, I've done a few PRAM resets and in the process observed that resetting PRAM, among whatever else magic it works, resets the default boot drive to Bay 1 (assuming, I suppose, that the drive in that bay has a bootable partition).
I had followed some of the conventional wisdom on this forum (Bay 2 running cooler than Bay 1) and placed my primary boot drive in Bay 2, with Bay 1 holding a bootable clone backup (Courtesy of SuperDuper). SD runs every night to backup my primary boot partition (in Bay 2) to the Bay 1 backup drive.
Through a long combination of events, I found out that I was running on the backup drive and not on the primary. A few minutes of testing later showed that resetting PRAM was the culprit.
So for those of you who are doing frequent or occasional PRAM resets, AND have set to boot from other than Bay 1, AND have a bootable partition in Bay 1...you might want to see what is mounted as / in Disk Utility.
I now have my primary boot drive in Bay 1.

I'll be lazy and not go back to the page Apple has on reset PRAM/NVRAM but usually we do or it recommends using the OPTION key; then reset Startup Disk.

  • Disc burner drive not found

When I try to burn a movie directly to a disc from iMovie, I get a message that says "No Disc Burning Drive Found. ... Please check your connections and try again." How do I do that? What might have caused the "disconnection"? I was able to burn discs before.

thanks, but rebooting/restarting, even zapping PRAM didn't help here. (+repairing permissions etc as mentioned above)
    Still stuck

  • Has anyone else experienced problems with the disc burner/driver software not being found?

I am trying to burn music onto a disc and it is telling me that the disc burner/driver software has not been found. Has anyone else experienced this with their MacBook Pro?

SuperDrives wear out - it seems that yours might be on the verge of a mechanical failure. I'd just replace it, buying a new drive from Other World Computing and installing it yourself (because Apple would charge a small fortune).
