Switch device manager not working no matter what I do

Hello everyone. I have just purchassed a 8330 and I am trying to transfer all my contacts from my Palm 690 Centro over the BB. NOthing I do works...all options are greyed out. I have the most current software for Palm OS and Hot sync. Can anyone help me get this done? Manually added all contacts will be a PITA!

That may be the problem. Is this a BES-controlled BB? Having an IT Policy typically means that it is. If so, then you need to go see your BES admins for assistance. An IT Policy can block many functions...but I've no way to know if the symptoms you are seeing could be blocked by it or not.

DVD/CD drive not working no matter what - pavillion dv6812nr entertainment

Hi! I'm posting this in a new thread because I can't seem to find anyone else with my specific problem.
So I got my brother's hand-me-down HP pavillion entertainment notebook, and the disc drive will not open (except for a 10-second window while the laptop is starting up). Even when I manage to get a disc in there, my computer isn't reading it or even acknowledging that the disc drive exists. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, but the problem is that I can not even find the DVD/CD device in the Device Manager--it's just not there. I also tried this solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461 , however when i am in the correct registry subkey, there are no UpperFilters or LowerFilters.
Please help, I just bought a music recording box and software and really need this fixed!

I grasp that your optical drive is not being recognized in your computer. Here is a link to CD/DVD Drive Is Not Detected (Windows Vista). As the link in your post was to a microsoft document for Vista, I assume that is what you were running.

Activate or switch device online not working

Im trying to switch to a second device and the Activate or Switch Device feature of My Verizon is not and has not been working for the past two weeks. It gets to the second screen that list options for backing up data and contacts. After that the next window does not load.
I have used three different computers, different networks, Firefox, IE7-9, and Chrome. Also cleared cache and cookies. Please help, thanks.

Sure have. Both devices are Verizon branded with clean ESN numbers. *228 option 1 on the seconed unactivated device gives me "were sorry this device cannot be activated at this time." This is the last screen i see before i hit next. Next screen is blank and isnt even loading.

8700c and device manager not working AT ALL

So I just recently got a Blackberry 8700c and for some reason the device manager does not work at all. Like my computer will make a dadunk noise when I connect my Blackberry via USB cable but it won't register that my blackberry is connected. I cant go to my computer and actually click on my blackberry.
I have windows vista and the device manager software I am using is the one I got in the box. 4.1
I am also using AT&T please help.
All I want to do is be able to connect it to my computer and upload themes and whatever else I want to the phone. But it isn't working

Do you have Desktop Manager loaded to your PC? You mentioned device manager, but I would recommed Desktop Manager ver 4.7

IDS Device Manager not working

IDSM2 when on version 4.1.4S48 was working properly. The IDS device manager at address https://<ip address> was working.
After upgrading to 4.1.5S189, it broke the IDS Device Manager. I cannot access the device manager using IE. It says page not found. Also when I use the IDS Event Viewer, I donot see any alarms.

The event manager willnot work with 5.0, the reporting facility (SDE) is not supported in IEV. IDM or VMS/SecMon need to be used to see alarms.
The most common reason for IDM to not work is because permit lists get reset when you upgrade to 5.0. Run setup and ensure that there is a permit statement that includes the machine you are launching IDM from.

Adobe Flash is not working no matter what I do - I have updated Firefox to the latest version and Flash to the latest version to no avail - what can be done?

I have used your help processes and done everything that is suggested - repeatedly. I don't know what else to say. Whenever I go to a site requiring the use of adobe flash, the system freezes up for a couple of minutes or more and then it says that Flash has crashed. I have sent the crash reports multiple times. When I use Internet Explorer, I have no issues with Adobe Flash. I have Windows 7 64bit installed.

I had loads of problems with iTunes, could see all but it would not respond at all.
I downloaded Abexo free registry cleaner and Errorkill registry cleaner free for limited period with restrictions. I ran both and got rid of all the junk in the registry and then installed QuickTime standalone...all problems solved. May need to reinstall itunes AFTER Quicktime if this does not work.

Using JavaBean with JSP...will not work no matter what

Hi guys. Sorry that this is such a common, newb question, but I don't know where else to turn.
I'm new to web application development, Tomcat, and JSP. I'm trying to use a simple JavaBean in a JSP to store some user information. The JSP is located in $CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art , and the UserBean I'm trying to use is in $CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art\WEB-INF\classes . I've tried adding a context in the Tomcat server.xml file, but nothing seems to work, even putting the .class file into the \art directory along with the JSP. The error I get is the following:

Thanks for any and all help anyone could give me about this. It seems such a simple thing, to get a JavaBean working in a JSP...and it's very frustrating to have it NOT work when it seems I've done everything possible to get it to.

Ok, I figured out what the problem was. My Bean was not a part of any specific package. It was never made clear to me that Beans are required to be a part of some package...I had no idea (though they always put them in packages in the tutorials, you think I would have picked up on it!).
So I just added the following line to the Bean:
package com.art;
Then compiled it and copied the .class file to CATALINA_HOME\webapps\art\WEB-INF\classes\com\art

"Explicit" tag will not work no matter what I do

I have done everything exactly as I was told in every tutorial that I have looked up, including the official iTunes tutorial, and yet, no matter what I do, iTunes refuses to recognize my podcast as "explicit" and instead thinks it "is clean." I do not want my podcast to be taken down for being explicit, and I do not want the unlikely scenario of a child accidentally stumbling upon it and hearing big people words, but nothing I do will put the "Explicit" tag on our page. Thanks so much. I sincerely appreciate all the help you've given me. I have one more question if it is not too much trouble for you. When you view the list of podcasts on our iTunes page, underneath "Description" there is nothing, just "--". When you click there (on the "--") you can see the full description, exactly how I want it. I do not understand why the first few words of the description do not appear in place of "--" as they do on any other podcast I have seen. I'm sure there is a simple solution just as there has been with my other issues.
To be clear, I am talking about the description for each episode, not the podcast in general.

My I-Tunes is not working no matter what I do, please help!!!

Hello, for about 2 weeks now my I-Tunes has not been working when I click on it. I use I-Tunes version 6(the latest free version). At first, when I clicked on it an error messege would pop up. I have re-downloaded I-Tunes at least three times and now simply nothing happens when I try to access my I-Tunes. I am extremely frusterated, I have over 3,000 songs on my I-tunes all put into special folders and it's very important to me that I be able to access it again! Can anyone help me? I'll pay!!!

Ichat Screen Sharing will not work no matter what I try...

I have read all the forums and can't find an answer. Something that should be so simple such as screen sharing through iChat (as advertised) is virtually impossible. This I can not explain. Especially since video chat works!
Both computers in question here are macbooks, both have leopard, both are or wireless networks. Is the router blocking the connection and if so, why will it allow video chat but not screen sharing?
There is either something real simple that I am missing here, or this is not possible at all.
some things that i have tried:
disabling stealth mode
on the firewall, enabling incoming traffic from ichat
made sure screen sharing is enabled in ichat
made sure the settings were the same on the remote apple computer
tried unchecking everything in the sys pref "sharing"
Both of the parties involved are using the same ISP, this really is mind boggling.
Is this a bug that is being fixed or what? I am not trying to perform a miracle here, but this is getting ridiculous.
If this is a router issue, apple should release some documentation on how to configure ichat screen sharing through your router.
If anyone has had this problem and has a fix, I would love to hear it. Keep in mind I have googled this many times and tried just about every piece of advice that I could find on this.

iChat Screen sharing does not as such for the screen bit use the Video/Audio port.
The Documentation was lacking last time I looked.
This one tells you the port changes in Leopard http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306688 compared to Tiger
Tiger is linked in the first to here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208 where most of the other ports are.
However Screen sharing was not part of iChat 3.
If you do a Quick Look at the .plist(s) you will see the reference to ARD which is Apple Remote Desktop which is what the screen ending part is based on.

This should be allowed through the use of UPnP in your routing device or specifically opened.
Now the not so good news.
I run Little Snitch, A utility that tells you ports and IPs of incoming and outgoing network connections by any app you have.
This has told me that in fact the Screen port seems almost completely random normally in the 50000 range of ports

Itunes still NOT working no matter what I do... :(

I have tried everything under the sun to get Itunes to work. I even went back to the original iPod disk and installed it through there and nothing. I have changed what automatically starts up with windows and that worked!... for about 5 minutes, then Itunes closed and I had to start all over again. This is getting soooo frustrating. All I want to do is add new songs to my beloved iPod. Can't someone provide info to actually fix this problem??? Do I sound desperate? HELP PLEASE!

that's going to depend on what start-up items were causing the problems. if it's the malware that has been causing the worst of these problems lately (it's either a new variant of Qoologic or is behaving like a new version of Qoologic), then it can recur unless we get it properly removed from your PC. if it's a different type of application or malware, we might be able to fix it more easily.
so i'll ask you again: could you please let us know the names of the start-up items that you had to disable in order to get itunes to launch? if we know that, we might be able to move forward from here.

Downloading DVD from Cannon DC230 using FUJIFILM DVD -R 3inch disk, its just not working, no matter what I try

When I connect my camcorder to the imac the screen on the camcorder goes grey and green lettering is on this screen, PC CONNECT, then a window opens on the pc, it tells me I have inserted a blank DVD, now this DVD is full as I only used it last week, The new window asks me to choose an action from the pop-up menu, I have tried all and even more but nothing happens.
PLEASE HELP.
