Switch from Adobe CS5 on Windows to Adobe CS5 on a Mac?

Hello,
In December I bought a student edition of Adobe CS5 Production Premium for Windows from Amazon.com, but just a few months later I found out that the art department at the school that I will attend has a laptop requirement of a Mac. I don't want to have to pay for another license for CS5 since I will no longer be using CS5 on my Windows laptop. Is there any way that I can trade in the license without having to upgrade to CS5.5 on the way to switching to Mac? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a Mac user, I'm used to crazy requirements for Windows only so I sympathize!
There's another possibility: If you have an Intel Mac produced in the past four or five years, you can get free software from Apple called Boot Camp and run it on your Mac. You can run a Windows partition on the Mac and install your Windows version of Adobe CS5 there.

For a little more money, you can buy Parallels or VMWare so you can run your Mac and Windows partitions at the same time and quickly switch back and forth.

The switch should be straight forward but I would start by uninstalling LR 5. This is because there is no specific CC version of Lightroom and you can’t run the creative cloud version and the perpetual version on the same machine. Your catalog and images will be safe and will not be affected by uninstalling. CS4 will not be affected and will still work independently.
Then launch CC desktop and go to the Apps tab. I would recommend installing in this order:
Photoshop CC 2014
Photoshop CC (if you need this to run old plug-ins)
Lightroom 5
If you install in that order LR will automatically recognize Photoshop for external editing from the LR Library.

Switched from Adobe Design Standard (CS5)to Adobe CS6/ intro rate $29.99 -EXP. ISSUES. .

I recently called Adobe to switch over from Adobe Design Standard Subscription (CS5) to the CS6 Adobe Cloud subscription for the intro rate of $29.99.
Ever since then I've been getting prompts such as:
Unable to validate your Adobe Muse subscription: We haven't been able to validate your Adobe Muse subscription for some time. Please connect to the Internet in order to continue using Adobe Muse.
I have had consistent daily access to the internet so I do not understand why this window/prompt continues to appear when I open MUSE. Well it used to. Now I'm unable to use Muse.
I recieved an e-mail saying my Adobe subscription has been downgraded and I'm also wondering what that means? Is it for my CS6 cloud subscription or for my older CS5.5 subscription which also appears on my account details page as Adobe Cloud 1 - year Subscription.

I also have had the exact same expereince, down to every detail you mentioned including the email execpt that I switched from the full price cloud subscritption (which I pre-signed up for) to the discounted price which I was informed I was approved for after the first payment was already taken..
So far photoshop and Illustrator seem to be fine. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Muse from the Application manager. Help!

Switching from Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to Adobe Premiere Pro CC

I am currently renting Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 through the creative cloud. What all would I have to do to switch to Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Is there anyway to just switch from my current subscription with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Or would I have to buy a whole new subscription to upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro CC?

the acrobat dc installer will uninstall your acrobat pro xi. you'll see a warning when you start the installation.

Shortcut to switch from OS X to Windows?

As far as I can tell the only way to switch from Leopard to Windows XP in Boot Camp is to go to System Preferences and then Start Up, select the Windows disc and click on Restart.
Is there a shortcut to do this? (If you're in Windows you click on the BC icon in the system tray and select OS X.)

Use Applications>Applescript>AppleScriptUtilities to 'Show Script menu in menu bar' by checking the box in the dialog.
Use Applications>Applescript>ScriptEditor to create a script with the following lines changing <WindowsVolume> to the name you gave your Windows partition:
+do shell script "bless -mount /Volumes/<WindowsVolume>/ -legacy -setBoot -nextonly" with administrator privileges+
+do shell script "shutdown -r now" with administrator privileges+
Compile and save the script in your User's script folder, <user>>Library>Scripts with an obvious name like 'WindowsBoot'.
To boot to Windows simply click on the Script icon in the Menu Bar then select 'WindowsBoot'. You will be prompted for the admin password. Once it is entered the system will restart in Windows immediately.
Note, this script does not change the startup disc designated in System>Preferences>StartupDisk.

Read-only access when saving metadata to file from Adobe Lightroom on a MAC OS to Windows shared drive

We have a group of 5 people editing and indexing photos to a shared drive on a windows server, everyone has its own catalog and working on different folders to avoid any locking conflicts.
The windows computers don't have any problems but the Mac's don't write the updated metadata to all files because they get the message "Photos have read-only access".
The environment is the following:
2x Macs workstations running:
- Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
- iMAC with MAC OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
3x Windows Workstations:
- Windows 7
- Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
Server:
- Shared drive on a Windows Server 2012 Standard
I have searched the internet, no one has this problem with this exact setup but I have tried all the solutions I found, namely:
1. Connect to the network drive with cifs:// protocol
2. Change the settings of the nsmb.conf for 'smb1_only' protocol
3. Mount the drive manually by command line
Nothing worked, any ideas?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the same issue and wonder if Lightroom 6 will resolve it. I tried AFP, SMB2, SMB3 and they all failed to save metadata randomly. When I use NFS from OS X then it works fine but it's a little slower than SMB and it's not as native as the mount via AFP or SMB, so it's harder to maintain. My server is a FreeNAS 9.2 (FreeBSD) which is running Samba, Netatalk and native NFS.

We have a Adobe Creative suite 4 license (+ update to 5) for OS X and now there has been stated that we are not allowed to use OS X anymore and thus we need to switch to Windows 7.
My question is, can we use the Adobe Creative Suite 4 license on Windows or do we need to buy the whole package againg?

Its fairly easy to order a platform swap, but you need to be on the latest version. So you can use this opportunity to upgrade to CS5.5 and get all the newer features.
So you don't need to buy the entire stuff again; you can upgrade from your existing version.

MSI GE40 adding HD and switching from AHCI IDE causes windows 8 to fail

Hello,
I removed my DVD from my ge40 laptop and added a caddy with a 1tb serial ata III hd 7200 rpm.
Not happy, I went in the bios and changed the sata from AHCI to IDE.
This caused windows to not being able to boot twice, and from that point it always go into automatic repair and then it fails (Automatic repair couldn't repair your pc).
I, of course, switched back to AHCI but it seems that it's too late.
I tried everything I could, from dos commands line actions, to refresh/restore, to safe mode, nothing works and it always go into automatic repair, failing.
F3 key does not do anything on boot.
I don't have windows repair dvd since it's a oem version.
What can I do?

The best thing *I* can suggest, is to contact MSI and RMA it to get them to reinstall the default software. Then the first thing I would do is make the backup/restore DVD's.

Just want to give a heads up to everyone...well at least to everyone on Mac with latest OS 10.4.8.
Purchased Lightroom about 30 minutes ago and download went fine for both Mac and Windows versions. There is a third file named Lightroom_597.dng that would only load as text in Safari. After it fully loaded in the Safari window I highlighted the URL and held down the OPTION key and pressed the ENTER key...then it downloaded properly to the desktop.
Holding down the OPTION key while clicking the download link did not work.
Now to have some fun with Lightroom....

It is probably the lone file mentioned here. It's an image of a model in a white dress with twirling lace.
No I can't post it...only Adobe can!
Anyway the problem was when I clicked on the download button it started to load text characters in the browser window...I couldn't get back to the download page to get the serial number because the shopping cart was done in Flash which is really inappropriate for shopping carts as the browser's back button doesn't work...if you mess up you gotta start over! No going back one or two pages...
Adobe is really shoving Flash down our throats in very inappropriate ways...

Just switched from Qwest DSL to CableOne cable internet and now my mac won't connect to the internet.

I've spent 2 hours on the phone with CableOne and they can't figure our why my MacPro isn't connecting to the internet through their Arris modem. I can connect to my network and see all my computers... so the ethernet port is working but the internet won't connect. I've tried Safari and Firefox browsers. My PC connects using the same ethernet cord with no problems. I've also tried connecting the computer directly to the modem with no results. And the ethernet port says it's connected and gives me an ip address. I'm out of ideas at this point. Any suggestions?
