Switch Graphic on GX70 3CC question

Hello everyone
I'm very new for notebook gaming and GX70 3CC is my first!
So I have question about switch graphic function on GX70 3CC. It have HD8650G on A10 and R9 M290X.
I go to AMD CCC and make it run with maximum power and then I run 3D Benchmark when result come..... result show me it test by HD8650G not R9 M290X and score just around 1750?!?  but when 3D run power buttom light show me on red for GPU mode (In my opinion my GX70 switch graphic from HD8650G to R9 M290X)
Why it use HD8650G  Where is my R9? why it run with HD8650G
I use driver come with it first time from MSI didn't update anything yet.
So I didn't know is normal or problem. If it a problem please tell me solution.
Thank you

What the 3DMark 11's version you have?
It's possible when the old version of bench mark tool haven't add the new graphics information to the program, so it will not recognized the graphics or read the wrong one.
Update:
The latest version of 3DMark 11 is v1.0.5 and also don't forget to update the SystemInfo to latest version 4.30.
Make sure when running the benchmark, the power button is lighting orange for using dGPU.
For two graphics platform(SLI), the graphics can be recognized wrong when the program can't detect the one which is running. I wouldn't take the information too serieous as long as the score is fine.
Is it possible that you can run the P score instead of the X? The P score is more commonly used.

    Hello
So i have got this laptop today and all is well
I have 1 little gripe though, in the CCC settings in the icon tray it always shows the integrated GPU( 8560G) and not the dedicated GPU ( R9-M290X) ?
Both GPUs are showing in device manager
i can see by running games and using GPUz that the dedicated GPU is working though, i tried Diablo III and was getting 50ish FPS so i know the dedicated GPU is defiantly running.
Im new to gaming laptops so im not sure if this is intended by always showing the intergrated GPU in the taskbar with CCC?
Will i always see the integrated GPU in the taskbar even though i know im using the dedicated GPU R9-M290X when running games?
    Thanks for reading

    Hi, kmufc77,
The GX Series laptop design is like that. AMD CCC will automatically Crossfire your APU's graphic with dedicated GPU if the game supports it. You can also always set which program to run with Crossfire settings and which one to run basic APU's graphic.
Do note that not all software support Crossfire configuration. If software having problem running using Crossfire configuration, switch back to basic graphic. FireFox and Flash Player doesn't support Crossfire (What a bummer, your online flash game can be so ultimate if it can run using Crossfire configuration). Also, almost all Windows Store app doesn't support Crossfire configuration. The only few I can get the game run in Crossfire mode is Pinball FX2 and Adera.
    Have fun gaming.

  • W500 switching graphics card

Hi, so on my w500 laptop specs, it says that it has 512 MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 graphics card that is switchable to Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD. I want to switch to the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator but I can't seem to figure out how to do it- I was told it was easy, but I'm not having much luck. If anyone could help me, that would be awesome, thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Which OS are you using? The switchable feature only works in Win Vista and 7.
    Maybe this will help:-
"How do I tell the system to switch my graphics adapter?
To switch graphics adapters, left-click on the ThinkVantage Power Managerbattery icon in the system notification area. At the bottom of the pop-up menu there will be a Switchable Graphics sub-menu.
Note: Changing ThinkVantage Power Manager from Basic mode (default) to Advanced mode will cause the menu to look different. The menu will no longer be transparent and the slider is replaced with a list of schemes. The Switchable Graphics sub-menu is still at the bottom."

My friend installed the OS for me, is there a way i can switch cards?

Hey don't give up yet. Sounds like video drivers are not installed on your ideapad. First identify which video card your system has:- http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers.html
Then go to proceeding link to download driver for it:-

  • Old AMD drivers - switching graphic mod

    Hello,
I have got Probook 4530s, I have bought GTA V, tryed install and it is working!! 25-30 FPS with actualy graphic card 7470M.
But while I am playing about 10 minutes my drivers will crash -> AMD radeon drivers stoped work, restarted. I tryed download latest amd radeon graphic drivers (amd-catalyst-15.4beta-64bit-win7-apr9.exe), but have found HP doesnt support these drivers, HP must have own drivers with switching graphics in the Windows!
So then I tryed disable "switch graphic" in bios(7.7, last update 2015), but it will set intel graphic which I dont want!
is here any way to switch graphic to the AMD while "switch graphic" is dissable?
    IF NOT
Can HP release new graphic drivers or bios setting where you can set up graphic which will be use without "switch graphic"?
    IF NOT
Can you tell me why I bought hp notebook?
I have to say, this notebook is awesome, it ran everything, CRYSIS 2, FARCRY 3, GTA IV, BORDERLANDS 2, BORDERLANDS PRE SQUEAL (I had to set up fixed switch graphic in catalys control panel, powerfull graphic AMD, dont know, but auto switcher didnt ever work)
and now GTA V, 25-30FPS, without any problems, sometimes little lag, but it all and about 10 minutes... booom drivers stoped work... Please HP I bealive you are good, I recommend to add choose graphic with "switch graphic = dissable" into bios,
    I mean:
    if (switch graphic == dissable)
user can choose between intel and AMD
because While I installed latest amd drivers it was working, but still ran at intel graphic.

value = actual temperature of devices (in the time when I took picture)
sensor = devices / hardware components
Ok, now I can see the pictures not sure why I couldn't the first time they do look high but that is what happens when you play a HI demanding game the graphics chipset will heat up. But I think this has something to do with the fact that the video chipset most likely can't handle HD games. But works find for everyday usage and since GTA is a HD game that would require something like a Gaming Laptop that cost upwards and beyond 2000US for HD gaming and to handle the high temperature produced in HD gaming.

Hello, I'm quite new on the forum and I've been reading a lot here... I decided to open this topic to see if I can figure out which laptop is good for me... Honestly, I'm undecided between GP70-i7 2PE and GX70-3cc and this the detail
    GP70-i7 2PE
    CPU: i7-4710HQ
    GPU: GT 840M 2GB

There are good and bads here.
Take a look at this: http://anandtech.com/bench/product/842?vs=954
I know the GE40 isn't the same as the GP70, but it's close enough to get a good comparison. The GX60 and the GX70 you chose are very close in specs.....
As you can see, in some games the GX60 does slightly better, but in general, the GE40 does much better.
What it comes down to is that the A10 5750 is not really that great of a CPU for games, in fact it's pretty horrid. It just doesn't have the power to feed the GPU enough data to do well.
The GE40 (or GP70 for you) has an i7 in it, that will be fantastic for gaming. Even though it only has a GT840 in it, it'll do quite well. It might not play the games on HIGH settings with everything turned up, but it'll do well enough that you should be happy for the price.
Thanks for give me  advice but i have 1 more problem
i had 250 gb normal ssd what should i do GP70 dont have 1 extra sata slot only msata

  • GX70 3CC - Which display drivers?

Was having trouble getting anything to recognize the HD8970M in my machine, let alone recognize it as the R9 M290X that it is supposed to be.
I was using the 14.12 Omega drivers, however I uninstalled those and went back to the MSI chipset drivers 13.152.0.0000 which the MSI live updater program recommended.
The games I play are running fine on those drivers and now MSI live update finally recognizes the GPU as HD8970M instead of just showing the HD 8650G.
So what should I be using for this machine, the ones that MSI live update gives me, or the latest AMD drivers, also the AMD auto detect only seems to detect the HD 8650G as well. Confused about which drivers I should be running.

Live update does not support notebook products. The link here is a official driver download page of GX70 3CC. http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GX70-3CC-Destroyer.html#down-driver&Win8.1 64
Looks like you are using the same driver, at least the version number is the same.

  • Manually switch graphics on HP

On my notebook (HP Pavilion f008sr) haves two videocards. It`s HD 8610G (bad(( ) and Radeon R7 M260 2GB. I`m want to manually switch graphics on my notebook. I`m bought it for games and for capture video from them (YouTube Channel). And i need AMD Drivers with manual switch, and BIOS. On my BIOS F.36 not those function. Help me, HP! I like u!))

The specification (see http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8600-Plus-e-All-in-One-Printer-series---N911/43... ) of the OfficeJet Pro 8600 series printers indicates that the only supported Page Description Language is HP PCL 3 enhanced.
I believe that PCL 3 enhanced (and other PCL3-based PDLs such as PCL3GUI) are primarily raster-based, in that each page is made up of one (or a series of) encapsulated, compressed raster images; the compression may use proprietary methods.
i.e. it doesn't support any vector image constructs at all.
The language supports a (very) small number of PCL escape sequences to provide the raster encapsulation and device initialisation.
I don't think that HP publish details of any of these PDLs used by inkjet printers.

  • MSI GX70 switch graphic cards ?

    Hi,
I just bought a MSI GX70 with the AMD radeon 8970M
My laptop is running on the integrated cards(Radeon 8650) and not the dedicated(Radeon 8970M)
I tried to disable the integrated but the laptops still don't run on the dedicated cards!
My games bug and are not as smooth as i expected and i don't understand how!
    Help me please!
    Thank you

slap03:There are 2 cards in the laptop, 1 for normal desktop use which is lower power, and 1 for gaming that is a dedicated card. The intent is to increase the laptops battery life while still having the ability to have a high performance system.
That being said, most likely the laptop isn't enabling the dedicated card when you play a game.
Make sure that in the Enduro/AMD drivers, that they recognize the game, and are setup to USE the dedicated card for those games, instead of the integrated card.

    Hi,
The fact that the Intel chip is showing as the display device ( and cannot be changed ) is correct
The switchable graphics on your type of system ( Nvidia Optimus ), means that the Intel gpu is always used to render the final display, regardless of whether the discrete Nvidia chip is being used for graphics processing or not.
For further information on how this type of 'Switchable' graphics technology works, see the Whitepaper on the following link.

  • T420s Nvidia Graphics Card & Express Card Questions

Hello, and thank you for checking out my post.  My apologies for writing a book, but I'm hoping to give as much detail as needed the first go round.
I just received my custom-built T420s (4170-CTO) and have a couple technical questions/concerns about it.  The details of my configuration are located at the bottom of this post.
First off, one of the deciding factors of my purchase was the discrete graphics card.  On the T420s I chose NVIDIA NVS 4200M Optimus Graphics 1GB, Intel Core i7-2620M Processor.  I was thrilled to have more than 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory for my games.  Upon receiving my laptop, though, I ran the Windows Experience Index and saw that the lowest score was the graphics card, which is identified as Intel HD Graphics Family and has 64 MB of dedicated graphics memory.  After my heart started beating again I checked Device Manager and found under Display both Intel HD Graphics Family and NVIDIA NVS 4200M listed as working with up-to-date drivers.  When I configured the laptop online there was no mention of hybrid graphics, so I'm not sure why I have an Intel Graphics card on the machine.  My current laptop that I was looking to replace is a T61p with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics card, and only that NVIDIA card is shown under Device Manager and in the Windows Experience / Performance Information.  Thinking that perhaps disabling the Intel card would cause the NVIDIA card to take over, I disabled that through Device Manager.  My screen went black and after feeling quite stupid I rebooted my computer.  The default Windows Display driver kicked in, allowing me to see well enough to get back to Device Manager and enable the Intel Graphics.  I counted myself lucky that I wasn't stuck with a working computer with a blank screen, but I'm still confused about why the NVIDIA card isn't the only display adapter on the machine, and why it isn't the default/main adapter.  Most importantly, will it be usable to run my games?
My second question is regarding the PCI ExpressCard slot.  My aim for this machine was to have a HDD to store my data (I selected the 320GB 7200 RPM HDD) and a SSD to boot and run my programs from.  Another reason for choosing this machine was the comment on Lenovo's site stating that a user booted his T420s from a solid state drive in the PCI ExpressCard slot, which was exactly was I was looking for.  I need the CD/DVD drive, so I can't put the second hard drive in a caddy.  During configuration I chose the option for an Express Card Slot & 4 in 1 Card Reader & Smart Card Reader.  From what I can tell, the Express Card slot is not connected to the Card Readers and I will not lose use of those ports.  When I opened the computer up to install more RAM, I saw what is labeled in Lenovo's hardware manual as the Express Card slot, apparently empty - which is great!  Now I need to figure out what kind of SSD to look for, and on that I'm kinda lost.
I'm guessing that my ExpressCard slot is 34mm and PCI form factor rather than USB... but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a not-incredibly-educated guess.  I'm also not sure where mSATA comes into play for me, if at all.  Looking at SSDs on sites such as newegg.com, I'm unsure of what form factor to choose - ExpressCard, PCI-E, mSATA, and/or 1.8"?
The tech specs of my configured T420s (copy/pasted from the order status) are as follows.  I hope this means more to you than it does to me.

    0A71709   VBB INTCRI7-2620MPR(2.7GHZ

In Device Manager I see the following related (I think) devices located under System Device:
    Intel 6 Series / C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Ports 2 (1C12), 4 (1C16), 5 (1C18), and 1 (1C10)

    PCI bus
2nd generation Intel Core processor family DRAM Controller - 0104
2nd generation Intel Core processor family PCI Express Conroller - 0101
Whew.  Thanks for making it through my book-long post.  If you can offer advice on either of my questions/concerns I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!
    Lauren

The T420s with Nvidia GPU has two graphics card that can switch on the fly, if you only want the discrete gpu, just go into your bios menu under graphics there is an option to select discrete.
With the Nvidia Optimus (which is what you have), it can switch between Nvidia and Intel GPU depending on your application needs. This will allow you to conserve battery or power.
Expresscard slot 34 mm slot is occupied by the card reader that you ordered.
What you are talking about within the ram slot cover, is the mPCIe slot, which can be occupied by a mSATA drive.
