Switch SGE2000 illegal software format - Firmware upgrade

Hey guys,
I am trying to update the SGE2000v1.0 with 24ports to  3.0.1.0:
http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282414067&softwareid=282463181&release=3.0.1.0&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
I got the error "illegal software format" using tftp.
Any ideas, maybe old hardware version v1.0?

the same problem but solved recently - can not use tftp to upgrade from line 1 to line 3 firmware (read release file for details)
before: two SGE2000 with firmware 1.0.0.45
- from product page get 3.0.0.17 or  3.0.0.18 firmware version (Easy Upgrade Utility will be included)
- unpack and use Easy Upgrade Utility to upgrade firmware
- upgrade to 3.0.1.0  by using Web Interface (or tftp)
good luck and let me known if solution works in your case too

  • SG300-28 switch in boot loop after firmware upgrade

After performing a firmware upgrade on an SG300-20 switch from ver 1.1.0.73  to 1.2.5.70 the switch now boots up with the following error and resets:
    30-Aug-2011 10:47:33 %L1Mngr-F-PARAMTOOLONG: csco-sb parameter %s is too long.
The attached file contains a full output of the console boot process.
I have tried loading different versions from the console, but all produce the same error.
Has any one any idea how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks

Hello Tom, Thanks for your reply,
I had done the process before with the 3 firmwares offered in the cisco website. I did it again, and i get a boot loop again, with following error:
%L1Mngr-F-PARAMTOOLONG: csco-sb parameter serialNo is too long.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,

  • SG300-10MP Firmware Upgrade Fails

Trying to upgrade a SG300-10MP from firmware revision 1.10.68 to 1.3.5.58  when I try to upgrade I keep getting an error that says
"Error Message: Copy: Illegal software format"
I have tried using the HTTP copy as well as TFTP with the same results.  I have tried upgrading to a few other older releses and get the same error.
    Any thoughts?

Looks like Cisco small business products dont support the cisco network assistant. I have tried the web console with both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Will the Software Update to 10.4.7 install firmware upgrade for a SuperDrive?
I have a Mac mini and I've just let the Software Update run as needed, but I am confused by the number of Apple update downloads listed.
I don't believe I need them, when I just use Software Update?
Seems like a simple question, but I was on Windows for the last 10 years.

  • ZEN TOUCH 20GB - Stuck in Recovery Mode, during Firmware upgrade. HEL

    Ooooh dear.
Me and my Zen Touch are completely stuck. Decided to upgrade the Zen's Software and Firmware and am now in deep trouble. Here are the steps I took.
First I sensibly backed up the 2000 songs on the player to my computer. Then I updated the MediaSource software and restarted the computer. Then I decided to go for the big change and downloaded the new PlayForSure firmware installation and that's where the problem starts - It never completed the installation, which I had to manually stop. I knew as part of puting this new Firmware onto the player, the Zen would be wiped clean, which it has. However, I now cannot get it out of recovery mode and it will not respond to attempts to download the new (or any) Firmware onto it.
    What I now get is:
-Plug the Zen in, the computer recognises that there is plug and play equipment attached and makes the appropriate noise.
-The Zen will switch itself on as a response (or I can do it manually), with a normal-looking startup. It then briefly flashes a screen saying "Firmware Problem" before going into recovery mode.
-If I choose Clean Up, it takes a few seconds to clean the now empty disk, and returns to the recovery menu
-If I choose Format All, pretty much the same as Clean Up
-If I choose Reload Firmware, it warns me that the firmware will be erased. And asks if it should reload it via USB. You say 'yes' and it briefly flashes up "Start firmware update now" before returning to the recovery mode menu.
And finally, if I select Reboot, that's exactly what it does; the computer recognises that it's turned off, makes the noise, and recognises when it's turned on again.
Trying to download the Firmware from the computer, however, has turned into a nightmare. I've tried downloading the PlayForSure firmware and old Firmware from the files on my computer (running XP, by the way). And I've also tried prompting the Zen starting up the Media Source software, BUT they all claim that the player is NOT connected! Even though it is! The Zen switches on and Windows makes a sound every time I connect or disconnect it!
So what to do? I'm stuck in this vicious circle and no matter what random tricks I try, I can't get out. The player needs Firmware, but the software on the computer claims the player's not connected.
The player is now more than a year old, so I can't return it, and Creative's less-than-generous telephone support is not an option, so I'm left to any imaginati've and kind-hearted subscribers to this list to offer suggestions.

  • Firmware upgrade, then lost

    Hi,
Quickly following automatic firmware upgrade on 1 week old Time capsule, network is now lost. Airport set up utility can't find Time Machine .. others experience the same problem? TM feels hot .. perhaps overheated due to firmware upgrade. Solutions welcome.

Your computer came with OS 9.0.4 installed. OS9.1 is required for Classic so is handy to have, and apparently your firmware installer requires 9.2.1 You can use free updaters to update to any later OS9 version from any earlier one.
I don't see any option but to obtain a used copy of OS9. Make sure you get the gold full retail version rather than a machine specific version since the latter will only work in those computers for which they were designed. You can get away with a machine specific version as long as it exactly corresponds to the model and build of yours, but that is often hard to confirm until too late in the purchase.
Note that any drive you want to use with OS9 either for purposes of installing OS9 or for running software will have to have OS9 drivers present on it. These are installed when you format a drive and cannot be installed later without reformatting the drive (and losing everything on it). If your computer still has its original drive then those will likely still be on there unless you reformatted the drive with OSX and did not select the keep OS9 drivers option (there's no harm in doing so and it saves a lot of trouble for doing exactly what you are trying to do). You can can have a drive present that doesn't have the drivers but it simply won't be seen by OS9.
Disconnect all third party hardware (including PCI cards) when updating the firmware.

  • Firmware upgrade for Westell UltraLine Series3 A90-9100EM15-10 ?

I'm wanting to check for/download install a firmware upgrade for my Westell UltraLine Series3 A90-9100EM15-10.
    It's currently running
    Software Version:     1.02.00.04
    Release Date:     Aug 28 2008
I'm hoping there's an upgrade available that fixes the HDMI Handshake/dropout problem?
Anyway, the screen I'm taken to after clicking "upgrade" in the router's management UI says :
Check every xx hours at URL _______
The field after "at URL" is not populated.
If I click "check now" I get:
"URL must be in the format: protocol://userassword@hostort/path where protocol is one of http, https, ftp or tftp. Either user or password, or both, may be left out. The port number is also optional."
Was that URL field supposed to be populated by the tech who installed the FIOS?
Where can I find that URL so I can paste it in and get my firmware updates?

Nevermind.  I've found it.  The link to 1.03.00.08 firmware is http://download.verizon.net/webdownload/firmware/upgrades/westell_router_9100em/A90-9100EM15-10-1.03...

This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.

  • E71 firmware upgrade for A1 network - Nokia unable...

    Hi,
Nokia, please make firmware v210 available to product code 0570359.
i have an E71, use it heavily in business and have standardized our company on it and need to upgrade it to v210 firmware, because the v100 is so buggy. i had 7 email interactions with nokia support and a1 support but both point the finger to each other and are of no help. so the last option is to use the forum, before i feel forced to switch my company over to the iPhone because of lack of nokia software support and upgrades.
the network provider A1.net says they have accepted firmware 200.21.118 already last year and informed Nokia in December 2008 to release v200 for this product code 0570359. A1 even says they have reconfirmed now again that the acceptance of the firmware has reached nokias support team. but when I check the nokia updater and the nokia website, it still says my firmware v100 is the latest. I know that even firmware v210 exists, know the list of fixed issues, so I actually want that one.
Is there anyone out there to help with this mess and help nokia from loosing even more business users over to the iPhone?
    Bernd G.

first of all, it isnt Nokias fault. once firmware is released, they do their very best to roll it out and usually achieve this in a few eeks to most regions for their generic product codes (i.e. firmware that is not operator-branded). in your case, there is some kind of miscommunication between your operator (A1) and Nokia, that has resulted in the delay of firmware released for your particular product code. Nokia simply provide the firmware to A1, who then decide whether to actually release it or not with their logos and whatnot all over it (i.e. operator customisation) or if they do not, they will not release the firmware to the users. so all you can do is haggle A1 about it and hope they hurry up and release the firmware.
another option is to ask the A1 guys to sign a release so that you can take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre and have it flashed with generic firmware. although this is often unlikely to happen as customer service for operators usually do not know what users are talking about when you request this, or are too stubborn/lazy to allow it to happen. but nevertheless, you can try anyway and maybe something good can come out of all this.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Muvo TX FM 512MB: firmware upgrade failed. How to recov

Hi, I have a Muvo TX FM 52MB. The firmware version used to be .4.0x. I tried to upgrade it to the newest one, .7.04.
I did everything according to the Instructions on the Creative Download Website. I let the OS to choose the recovery driver for me. The firmware upgrade file correctedly found my player and executed the upgrade. However, there's no instruction that I should check the format data option during upgrade. So I didn't format the data during upgrade. After the upgrade, I couldn't start the player and the PC couldn't recognize it.
I tried to do the upgrade again. The PC correctly recognized the player as a recovery device. After I started the creative upgrade program, the program founds the recovery device, then started to find any device connected to the computer, finally said that "The device is not connected to the USB port".
How to solve it's Many thanks.
    Alex

go to nomadworld.com and find the firmware... READ PROPERLY... it says that u must install a new driver before u upgrade the firmware... mine works... for now, to recover it, press and hold the play button on the player while connecting it and hold the button until a window appears to install the player recovery software... before that, install the new driver first. then let windows search for the driver. windows will clear everything up in ur player. NOW U CAN DO UR firmware update... it doesnt matter whether u want to format or not cause the firmware upgrade program will format your player even though u didnt want to do it. its not the formatting problem.. hope this hel
    ps.
    thanks for reading.

  • Had a failed Firmware Upgrade on a Zen??? LOOK INSIDE FOR POSSIBLE

From the Nomadness.net forums: (I had the same problem and user inferno9 at those forums posted this which fixed my issues - hope it helps!)
The problem was that I had formatted the dri've and attempted to reload the firmware, when, BOOM, the firmware updates would not detect the player. I tried all kinds of different strategies, different drivers, different applications, safe mode, etc...until I FINALLY figured it out.
Buried deep within Microsoft's website, I found this link...
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player//readme.aspx#RollingbacktoapreviousversionofthePlay er

Issues updating firmware on Creative ZEN portable devices after installing Windows Media Player
If you have a Creative ZEN device, make sure the device has the latest firmware before you install the beta release of Windows Media Player . To download the latest firmware, go to Creative Worldwide.
If you try to upgrade the firmware on your Creative ZEN after you install the beta release of Windows Media Player , the Creative firmware upgrade software might not recognize your device.
In this case, remove Windows Media Player , update the Creative firmware, and then reinstall Windows Media Player . Creative plans to address this issue in future firmware updates.
For information about removing the beta release of Windows Media Player , see Rolling back to a previous version of the Player.

    Good luck all.

  • Firmware upgrade failure with zen Vision M 30

Hi Guys, new to this and need some help as it has been a few days waiting on anything sensible to come from Creative support. History. Daughter got the new creative vision M 60gig and gave old (0 months) 30 gig to Dad Smiles all round. Dad (tech support manager) loads up system software and re formats the dri've. Finds new firmware upgrade so down loads and goes through the prosess of updating. Now up to this point, unit was working fine and was seen by win xp in the 'my computers list' but is new to my computer. Selected reload firmware which erased the old and told me to install the new. I ran the downloaded .exe file (latest) and it told me it could not find a device. Spent last night looking over the web for clues. Windows media play was listed but it turns out that it was only the beta that had an issue (in any event, it would not let me remove it as it wanted to do a roll back but could only find ver to roll back to). Sent out message to creative who cam back and told me to roll back wmp (great help) and to change the permissions for USB which I did. This then caused my computer to blue screen twice (had to re boot in safe and exit to recover). Ran registry mechanic and it fixed several things but still the unit is not seen by the upgrade program. When I boot the player up, it detects it has a firmware issue and puts me in the recovery mode screen. But nothing I do gets the upgrade to work. Any one got any ideas?

I have a similar problem. I tried to upgrade my firmware. So it erased the one that was on the player, and when i try to install the new one the computer says the device isn't plugged in, even though when i plug it in the pop up menu is displayed and it says DOcked on the player and the player is charging

  • WRT350N firmware upgrade not working

Hi, I've just been given an unused WRT350N router.
I've had a few problems getting it setup on my MAC (OSX 10.5.6), but it transpired they were problems using Firefox which were resolved when I started using Safari. However, I still have one outstanding problem with upgrading the firmware....
I want to upgrade the firmware from the original 2.0.10 to the latest available of 2.0.19. I have downloaded this from the Support page, which gives me a readme text file and a .IMG file which i presume is the firmware file (all instructions I have found imply it should be a .BIN file)
I have connected my router to the MAC using a wired connection and followed the firmware upgrade instructions (selecting the .IMG file), followed the rest steps (including using the hardware reset button, and the software factory defaults option), but when the router comes back up it still says its at firmware 2.0.10.
I get no error messages, and have noticed that at the end of the upgrade it does NOT display the "Upgrade is sucessful, rebooting.." message.
I have been through this several times with same results. Any ideas please ?
    Thank in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have this same problem now with firmware for  WAG54GS   the zip file produces a  .IMG file after running winzip
This file is not acceptable to the firmware upgrade as a .BIN file.
The firmware is expecting a .bin format.   It does not like this .IMG file.
The documentation all refers to .bin.
Just renaming the file as .bin causes the linksys to abandon the upload.
I am on a Windows XP.       .BIN is UNIX/LINUX terminology.    Do I have to do the firmware upgrade on Linux?
Tried to get some software to checkout the   .img file but nothing likes it.
WAG54GSv1-E1-AnnexB-ETSI-ML-1.01.05-code.img  is what my winzip gets.
What am I supposed do with this file to get it into the right shape for the     WAG54GS?
It wants   .bin file    not this?
