Switch to mac's now?

My sister is a windows person. She has a Dell desktop that needs replacing. She is considering a MAC. Now i am reading here about problems with the imac monitor's (flickering screens, and yellowing tinge) Has apple been able to resolve these problems? I don't want to see my sister switch over to mac's only to be sorry she did.

Advise your sister that the new iMacs may have one or more problems or she may get a perfect machine. As advised, please purchase AppleCare for the new iMacs since that is your best long-term insurance. In the short-term, she is covered:
1) under Apple's return/refund policies for the first couple of weeks (print/read the policy at the time you place your order);
2) for a year for the hardware warranty and 90 days telephone support;
3) up to three years warranty and phone support with AppleCare.
To me the new machines are beautiful and good performers - you don't indicate her need for speed but remearks have been favourable for the low-end (Core 2 Duo 3.06/3.33 GHz), middle ground (Core i5 quad 2.67 GHz), and high-end (Core i7 multi-threaded quad 2.8 GHz) depending upon what people want to do with their computer.
She may decide that she prefers to wait until you tell her that shipping machines are pretty much flawless or she may decide the risk of a problem is outweighed by the expectation that her machine will be fine. You can tell from the comments here that we fall into those two broad philosophies. Waiting is prudent if her need is not immediate but she delays having the enjoyment of using the new iMac which may be fine even today.
If she has a local retail store, I'd recommend getting one there (unless it's a custom order that is only available in the online store). Even if she orders it from the online store, she always has the convenience of returning to the local store or returning it via the shipper who delivered it to her.
