Switch Your Service Location And Lose It All

I was scheduled for my Phone and DSL to switch on Aug 5 from my old place to my new place about 200 feet down the road. The service got switched off early on Aug 5, but has not been switched on at my new place...a co-op building where the wiring has not been touched, either in the apartment, or in the maintance room.
Yet the man I reached on Saturday said the line tested fine and that was that. I insisted he open a full ticket for a complete up and down examination at their end...and not just assume it was on my end.
And then they go on strike on Sunday, Aug 7.
Online the ticket says it will be resolved by Aug 16. Anyone care to hold their breath over that one?
The one thing you can bank on is that Verizon will send me a bill for the full amount during the service outage.

It has Facade in it and a Facade is usually used to give a simple entrypoint by providing a standartized interface. The same is now with the Session Facade. You have a Session bean that represents a high-level business component that interacts and calls lower-level business components.
Imagine having client a accessing 5 business objects with the remote calls, which is not an efficient way (network latency) or accessing the SessionFace and the session face is doing all the work through local access.
Service Locator
As J2EE components are using JDNI to lookup for ejb interfaces,DataSources, JMS components, connections etc. isntead of writing all the lookup in many code piecess across the project, you write a service locator that gives you a centralized place to handle the lookup's. It's easier to maintain and to control such a setup.
As you can see there's quite a big difference ;-)

We currently have an application with numerious EJBs. Obviously, this in turn involves
numerous JNDI look ups for these EJBs. Both the client (a web application) and
the EJBs run within the same JVM, however not as part of a singe EAR application
(the EJBs are deployed as standalone application modules). We do not have any
Service Locator (J2EE pattern) implemented. My question is, given this scenario,
will there be a performance enhancement if a Service locator is implemented to
cache JNDI look-ups? If so, Will this come into play if we deploy the app as an
EAR?

Here's what I've used:

Faces, Location and Edit Photos all at once?

Is there anyway to label Faces, assign the location to a photo and use the photo editing features all at once?
When I import new photos, I want to sort through, edit and organize them once. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Any tips for ways to speed this clumsy workflow up?

When you change the password for your apple Id and you loose all your messages can you get them back?

So my stupid mum decided to change the password instead of waiting for me to get up -_- and now I have lost all my iMessages that were very important and I can't find them I recently tried to back all my iPod up to my laptop but I had a look and couldn't find anything to do with messages can someone help

You only way is to restore from backup if you have backed up after the Messages were on the iPod but before you "deleted" them. iTunes only retains the last backup.

IOS 6, drop the pin in the maps to your known locations and get the incorrect postal code. Thumbs up if I am right. :)

The maps gives me wrong information for the postal code all the time.
Please make sure the postal code twice before you use it for any legal purposes.

Could you be a little more specific? I took that section out of my CSS file but the problem persists.

Service Locator and JNDI Environment variables

I have a class that implements the ServiceLocator pattern running into the container tier (not in a webapp), this class has a method that returns a Connection (java.sql). The problem is that I must hard code the JNDI name of the DataSource (or write it on a properties file), but I want to look for this name like a JNDI environment variable (java:comp/env/jdbc/dataSourceRefName). The class who calls the ServiceLocator is a DAO object, not an EJB. Is there any deployment descriptor tag or similar that let�s me register this name in the JNDI tree?

You'll need to declare the resource-ref in the environment
section of the standard deployment descriptor of any component
from which you'll invoke this ServiceLocator. So, if it's invoked
from ejbs, you'll need to define the resource-ref for each ejb
in ejb-jar.xml.

Using service Locator pattern to dynamically access remote EJBs

Hi All,
Please help to guide me how I can use a service locator to retrieve a remote object (residing on another application but on same domain) .
I do not want to use Dependency Injection since I want to dynamically discover them ( there are many implementations of same interface (POJO)). Each EJB implementation implements its own remote/local interface that extends this global POJO interface.
I have two J2ee-Applications on same domain. J2EE-Application 1 has an EJB module (EJB Module 1) that intends to access an EJB Module (EJB Module 2) in J2EE-Application 2. Following observations:
1. Dependency Injection fails if (include the EJB Module 2 jar in J2EE-Application 1). Reason App Server complains the EJB has been deployed (Deployment fails)
2. Dependency Injection works if (exclude the EJB Module 2 jar in J2EE-Application 1) and include the Remote Interface in EJB Module 1(J2EE-Application 1).Positive Observation (Deployment success and DI also success)
3.Using Service Locator to retrieve the remote object if (exclude the EJB Module 2 jar in J2EE-Application 1) and include the Remote Interface in EJB Module 1(J2EE-Application 1). Negative and Positive Observation.
Positive Observation: Using dependency injection I can still retrieve the Remote Object
Another Positive: The Service Locator remote lookup to another Bean in same Application but different EJB Module is successful.
Negative Observation:
The Service Locator lookup to this same remote object with Successful Dependency Injection fails (An Ejb in a different application).
Can't retrieve the Remote Object with Service Locator. Message from Server:.
NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial.

If you're calling ejbs from other ejbs or servlets, the same could probably be acomplished by using dependency injection (@EJB) in a number of instance variables typed with different remote/local interfaces or even with different beanName attributes (for when more than one bean implements the same managed interface in the same app - not sure how it works outside the same jee app...) , and dinamically selecting one of them; or encapsulating those injected variables into a stateless ejb as your service locator to make them accessible from POJOs too (which, due to concurrent acess, wouldn't work for statefull ejbs references...).
Anyway, using the jndi lookup service locator pattern seems ok in this case.
What doesn't seem ok, given the nature of the error for the negative observation - jndi context initialization - is that
Another Positive: The Service Locator remote lookup to another Bean in same Application but different EJB Module is successful.
Can you check your code and reconfirm that you're using the same context initialization code for both the positive and negative observations ?

Need an App To Turn Wifi, Bluetooth, Location and Data On & Off

Though there appears to be none yet, a very useful app would be one that permits us to turn one or all four of the following on and off with the flick of a single switch: wifi, Bluetooth, location and data. It would be a very simple app with four check boxes and one on/off slide button, but would be super handy to permit us to quickly get info when we wanted it and save battery power otherwise.
When those four are off, the phone lasts 5 to 6 days on a single charge with low voice and text usage. With all of them on, it needs a charge in a matter of hours.
App developers, the concept and profit are yours for the taking. I'm sure many iPhone users would be happy to pay a couple bucks to reduce charge cycles, particularly since the iPhone 5 no longer fits all the charge ports the travel industry installed around the world.

I think the programming steps are simply a matter of knowing the iOS menus. On the other hand, Apple would definitely have to authorize the app. For that reason, obtaining advanced willingness to approve it would be a good idea.

Got new iPhone 6 and backed up all data from iphone 4 to cloud and taking hours to restore to new phone

The amount of time needed by the restore process depends on your geographical location and the speed of your Internet connection. Even with a fast Internet connection, the restore process might take 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte to complete
So if you have several gigabytes to restore, it may be an overnight process.

Cost Center Linkage between Functional Location and Equipment.

We have found in our analysis that it is impossible to copy the cost center of a superior functonal location to a subordinate one when the cost center of subordinate functional location is changed manually.
We intend to do a mass change for our cost centers of all our functional locations and equipments for all our plants. We need to know how do we achieve this change of cost centers.

Actually the Master data team has to do a mass update of cost centers for the Functional locations and Equipments.
And what we have found is that when we change the cost center for an equipment individually it changes the cost center origin of the equipment to "D" which means independent of the changes in the cost center at FL level.
Be it IBIP or any other way what we have found that the linkage(cost center origin) between the FL and the EQUIP changes to "D" when ever we change the cost center for the equipment.
We don't want to change this linkage as it may have other consequences that we can not foresee at this point.
So, my question is :
If the FL and EQUIP linkage (cost center origin field) is changed(from H to D or D to H), what could be the effect on the FL and EQUIP relation?
Cost center origin :
D Independent of changes in cost center at FL level
H It is dependent on the FL cost center.

Service locator

OK - this may take some time.....
We have an application split across multple projects. We use XDoclet as a start point to generate EJB/Web deployment descriptors.
We do not want to annotate the EJB java source with @ejb-ref and @ejb-local-ref's because of potential future changes. In other words if a utility class were changed to use an EJB, then all EJB's that use that utility class need to have an ejb-ref or ejb-local-ref added to their deployment descriptor, which if you are using XDoclet means updating the EJB java source.
So, we use XDoclet to generate most of the deployment descriptor content, and take responsibility for working out what ejb-ref or ejb-local-refs are required for each EJB as part of our packaging step in our build. We do this by using BCEL to build up a cross-reference of the inter-relationships between classes, and identify which classes have strings that begin java:comp/env/ejb/. Starting at the implementation class of an EJB, we exhaust all classes that are used by the EJB, accumulating all the lookup strings along the way. This may seem like overkill, but it works.
OK, we're getting closer to the question.
It has been suggested that we can remove this step of the build process by enhancing our service locator. Since all of our lookups are routed through this locator, the proposal is to put the actual lookup for the required EJB inside a new stateless session bean that is invoked from the service locator. The cache of EJBHomes is still in the service locator, and the new session bean will implement a local interface only.
This means that effectively all of our EJBs except the new session bean only have to have an ejb-local-ref for the new session bean, and the new session bean simply has all ejb-ref/ejb-local-ref's required by the application.
So my question is, is this an acceptable suggestion? We are talking about returning EJBHome objects from another EJB's context for use in the requesting EJB's context. Can anyone think of a problem with this? Apparently this has been mocked up and seems to work. I just have a nagging reservation about going ahead with this.
Our ref names are consistent across all of our EJB's, so java:comp/env/ejb/Fred always results in the same JNDI name regardless of which EJB is used, and this would not change in the future.
We are targeting J2EE 1.4/J2SE1.4.2

Hi all, I have just fixed this issue on my daughters and her friends iPad, problem with iMessage and FaceTime, when you try to sign in it tells you to check your network.
No need to do a full back up and restore!!!
Go to Settings / General / Reset / Reset all settings.
This will not cause you to lose any photos apps or media.
Please note you will need to reset your time zone and wifi settings etc once you have completed this task so make sure you have your wifi key to hand.
Once it has restarted and you have re-entered the time and wifi settings go back into
Settings / Messages and sign in to iMessage using your Apple ID and password.
Then
Settings / FaceTime and sign in to FaceTime using your Apple ID and password.
All sorted. Enjoy.

IPhoto '09 - Adding your own latitude and longitude

It appears that iPhoto 09 does not allow you to add your own Geo location (e.g.: latitude and longitude data). Is this correct?
Are we limited to the list Apple provides?

I downloaded a Exif viewer app to double check to, and it was there the 2nd time I exported and ticked locations, and text and keywords.
I also just downloaded Picasa for MAC, and it doesnt support direct looking at Google Earth on the Mac yet, but the L/L is there in the pic data, but the keywords are not shown, in picasa
So is this the only way to get it out then?
can you make a new album with all your pics in, and then export all at once?
Or can I take it that if I pick the picture direct from the iPhoto library in Finder and copy it , it will have the L/L and keyword data in?
