Switched from AT&T to Verizon today, have a question or two

Well, I switched from my iPhone today to a Motorola Droid, and I transferred my phone number from AT&T to Verizon, and I'm curious about a couple of things:
Text messaging isn't working 100% - I can send and receive texts Verizon to Verizon, for example, I can't text my Mom, who's still on AT&T. Is that because it maybe still transferring? Or activating? I can make calls to my Mom, and other friends not on AT&T just fine.
If it is transferring/activating, what's the usual amount of time that it takes?
I've restarted my phone several times, and it hasn't fixed it, fyi.

Make sure that your iPhone is turned off. I have had a problem when i was switching devices on a line on verizon and didnt turn the old device off... but once i turned the old device off then it was resolved.

No. There is a download for each system. What is common is the licence key to activate the install. The latest update issued today is here.

If you have a License for LR 2.x you can download and install its free and you can have it installed on two computers. One can be Mac and one Win or two on either system.
P.S The update is the full program so you do not need to install the original version, you just have to input the License Key. keep it safe.

Switching From Windows To Mac: ACR Database, Bridge Cache Questions

I am planning to switch from Windows XP to the Mac running Leopard. I am now running CS2 in Windows, but will upgrade to CS3 on the Mac. I am maintaining my RAW file settings in ACR central database and my Bridge cache in a centralized cache file. I've searched the forums but couldn't find answers to my migration questions: 1. Can one move the ACR database file from Windows (in folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw) to a folder somewhere on the Mac to preserve the settings on RAW files that are also moved to the Mac? Or does one need to export individual XMP files for the RAW files in Windows and move both the RAW files and their associated XMP files to the Mac? 2. I have a similar question for migrating the Bridge cache from Windows XP to the Mac. Can one somehow move the Bridge cache over (I think it's in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge\Cache\Thumbnails\) or do I need to export the cache for each folder and subfolder and move them over along with the folders and subfolders? I would appreciate any help or pointers to any Adobe documents or directions. Thank you.

Since you said that you were also migrating from CS2 to CS3 I would have said that their cache files were incompatible. That is what I experienced with CS1, CS2, and CS3 in the past. But Thomas indicated it should work. I must be missing something.
The XMP files move fine for me. The local cache (folder) files have completely different names with each version and I see no evidence that they can be shared. This is also a problem with archived CDs. CS3 always has to rebuild cache if they were archived from CS1 or CS2.
Since the central cache must have some folder references, and this structure will be completely different on Mac, I dont see how it can work. It doesnt work for scripts or actions either.
So my humble recommendation is to set your preferences to store cache and XMP files in the local folders where possible. Then simply bite the bullet. Each time you visit a folder for the first time in the new environment, cache will be rebuilt.

Switching from At&t to Verizon - Absolutely horrible experience

I have been an At&t customer for 2 years and decided to switch to Verizon on August 16th. I ordered Droidx through Verizon store and the guy entered the wrong address. The phone was not delivered and sent back to the warehouse. Now, I already started receiving bills even though I dont have the phone. After going to the store many times and fighting on phone with Verizon support they decided to credit the bill. Now, to get Droidx I was asked to pay 350 again as they said the money would be credited back to my account immediately as soon as the phone is received by the warehouse.
Today I called up Verizon support and they informed me that they would send a cheque. The problem with support and the {word filter avoidance} verizon store is they keep giving me the wrong information. I am still paying money to At&t because of this mistake. In the end, I am losing money and time. Here is what i feel about verizon: At&t are openly shameless about the fact that they have poor customer support while Verizon shows that it has good customer support but in reality they are worse than At&t. I regret the decision to switch and I wish someone could fix these issues.

You have 30 days to cancel your Verizon service less a $35 restocking fee and possibly an activation fee on your phone line. I would reccomend that you do this if you don't like the level of service you're getting from Verizon.
What you are experiencing is basically how they do business, so if that's not satisfactory, they want you to leave.

Switched from ATT Bold to Verizon Tour

Does anyone know how many speakers does Tour have? Of course the rep @ verizon was happy to get me, he immediately told me that Tour is upgrade from Bold. So far I do not think so.
Bold had Wi-fi, Tour doesn't
Bold's speakers were so much louder, I am not even sure Tour has 2 speakers
Bold had a solid steel feeling, Tour is light but plastic
Also I heard Tour has faster processor? is that true? Cause it freezes sometime while I am navigting sometimes.

Correct, the Bold 9000 - (624Mhz)
Tour – (528Mhz)
But the Tour really is just as snappy as the Bold, I think... the newer processor is the Qualcomm processor and it is no 2nd rate chip.

HP officejet Pro 8500A - problem with wireless setup switching from ATT Uverse to Verizon FiOS

I had this all-in-one printer set up and working on wireless through ATT Uverse router in one city. just moved to another city and got Verizon FiOS. Now when I try to set up the wireless connection, the printer will connect to the router, but my computer cannot locate the printer. It gave a 169 IP address which doesn't seem right. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software on my computer, but when going through setup on the computer, it can't find the printer automatically or by me typing in the IP address it shows on the printer. Not sure what I have done wrong.

It is not connected to your router (indicated by the 169.254 IP address).
Let me know the model of your FIOS router (Rev D, E, etc).

I just bought a new Mac and want to put Lightroom to this desktop, Do I have to reorder the Lightroom 5 or is there a way I can just download the one I purchased a while ago?

I ust went from XP to Windows 7 and have several questions regarding email controls. Comcast can't answer them and asked me to ask you.

Among my new problems.
1. The alphabet is now missing from the opening page of my Address Book.
2. How do I set my email page as the opening page?
3. When I finish answering an email, send it and click “Delete” on the just answered email, it doesn’t delete but instead opens a new email page I have to then close and go back to the in box, check that old message and delete it that way. How can I correct this?
4. How do I set up a default type and size large enough for me to read?
5. How do I turn off the automatic paragraph indentations when I number or letter paragraphs?
6. Sometimes when I click “Send” on an email, it takes many seconds to leave. Why?

Swtiched from Pc to Mac but I have a question

I dont know how to reformat a mac. I didnt get a cd or a dvd with the computer I dont how to create the disc so i can reformat my mac to its original factory form. can I get some help please ? Thank you. I think I have the latest software for with OS X

Contact Apple and they can get you the original discs that came with your model. They will run you around $20.00. There is nowhere on Apple's site that you can download them for free.

I just jumped ship from PC to Mac and I have a question.......

On a PC every week or so you had to "defragment" the hard disk and use "disk cleanup" just to keep the system running smoothly and to get rid of cache and what not.
Is there anything like that on the Mac? I am running Tiger and I want to know what kinds of things are good to do on a regular basis to keep everything smooth.

Here's my suggestion. Either MacJanitor or Onyx, links below will help keep your Mac happy and both free.

Both will clear out cache and log files that can cause problems.
Also, you can run Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) and Repair Disk Permissions once a week yourself if you want to. It will give you the hands on experience of seeing what goes on behind the Aqua user interface.
And.. when you post here could you please which Mac you have? It will help troubleshoot issues in the future. Hopefully you won't have any.

This "lego block" stands for a missing plug-in. Hopefully, you could download one somewhere or at worst not. The cup with the question mark stands for the non working java plugin.

How do I switch from Parallels to Bootcamp? I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 17" with latest OS and running Windows 8 on Parallels. I am unable to run SimCity (newest) on parallels, and read that it works on bootcamp.

Back up any data you want from your Windows installation. Remove Parallels and the virtual machine Windows file.
Run Bootcamp Assistant and follow the instructions to partition your drive and install Windows. Copy ypour backed up data that you saved to the Bootcamp Windows partition. Reinstall all your Windows programs.

- I am considering to buy Microsoft Office for mac, student version. However, I will have two macs at home, should I purchase two separate software to install it into both macs?
- What am I giving away by switching from Windows to Mac, if any? I know that Mac is way secure and works flawlessly. However, software and compatibility wise, is there a "huge" gap between those two? I read that some applications working on windows will not work on Mac. What is the general approach in that? What kind of software is not for Mac?

The Student version allows you to install it on three Macs, so you only need to buy a single copy.

Windows software will not run on a Mac.
Mac software will run on a Mac.
There are generally Mac versions of most Windows software.
