Switched isp - can't send outgoing messages anymore

Just switched from Verizon DSL to Cox as ISP. Continue to receive email messages, but get error message "The outgoing mail server "stmp.mac.com" failed to deliver this message. The connection to the server "stmp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out." I tried switching this to Cox's "stmp.east.cox.net" but get a message that the server cannot be contacted. I'm clueless about this stuff so appreciate any insights you can offer.

Is Verizon's SMTP server still available to choose from in Mail?
If there are any SMTP servers available in Mail not being actively used by any accounts, this can sometimes cause problems.
Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Test if this resolves the problem.
Are you able to send messages with your Cox email account and SMTP server?
If so, selecting the Cox SMTP server for your .Mac account should work.

  • I suddenly can't send outgoing messages

Through Mail, I can receive incoming but can't send outgoing unless l go directly through my email's online mail server. I shift around between routers in my home country all the time, but when I went overseas for 3 weeks at Christmas, all of a sudden I couldn't send outgoing mail. Now I'm back on my home router and it still won't work even tho it had no problems before the trip.
I read Mail Help and tried all the things it said.
I checked all the settings, they were correct.
I copied all the settings to a new account, checked they were correct, deleted the old one, and it still won't work.
Deleted all the unused smtp servers.
Pinged it and got this message:
"10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss" -- I'm assuming that means something's wrong, but Mail didn't say what to do after that.
When I plugged directly into my router and tried to send, I still got the same message:
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator."
I love my apple, but I'm getting mildly frustrated. Can anyone help??!!

  • Can't send outgoing messages using hotmail on iPhone 4

Help! I've just switched from iPhone 3 (where I used my hotmail with no probs) to iPhone 4 and have been setting it up as I had it before. I've added my hotmail account and incoming emails are received but it won't let me send outgoing mail. It keeps asking for a password but when I enter it (and re-enter it over and over again) it keeps asking for the password! Has anyone else had this problem?

So you went thru the apple support link that I gave you and still can't text.
Then you restored and reset the phone and still can't text.
    Call the carrier  - ?
Look I've been giving you some troubleshooting tips, that I would give anybody else who is having issue with sending text message.
Your last resort after doing all the fixes would be to call the carrier.
Call your fiancee carrier and see what they say.

  • Can't Send Offline Messages Anymore

I signed onto iChat today and the first time it couldn't connect. Then the second time I was able to get on. However, I tried to IM my friend that has set her account so she can receive offline messages. So, when I sent her a message, it said, "Your message cannot be sent. You cannot send anymore offline messages." Does anyone know why this is happening?

I am experiencing the same problem. I used to be able to send messages to friends who were offline--and now---NOPE. I am very much hoping that this feature is re-instated ASAP!!!

I have three e-mail accounts on my iPhone. They all worked perfectly until I upgraded to OS4. Two of the accounts, yahoo and gMail work fine. The third account that is through my ISP, can't send out anymore. I receive mail OK on the account.

I put my new password into the outgoing server. I only had it in the incoming server

  • Automator "Send Outgoing Messages" Workflow Failed - 1 error

    Hello,
In my hunt to be able to send a personalised templated e-mail to multiple recipents using Mac Mail, I came accross the automator feature. I've tinkered around with it but can't seem to generate the final action of sending.
    1) New Mail Message (all fields have data as I read in another thread that this might generate errors.)
    2) Get Specified Address Book Items
    3) Group Mailer
    4) Send Outgoing Messages (this is where I get a Workflow failed - 1 error)
Steps 1-3 have green tick marks, Step 4 has the error.
Can anyone point out where I might be going wrong?
    I'm using 10.7.2

    Anyone?????

  • I CAN'T SEND A MESSAGE DUE TO LOST OF 3.5g COVERAG...

i had this 5230 phone and i don't know what just really happen to my phone. which is i can't send a text message but i can call and use mobile internet. i just need to ask for help if there's a chance to restore a 3.5g coverage that when i had 3.5g coverage then there's no signal. i don't know what to do about it. and the days pass the 3.5g is gone and there's a network coverage but still there's no 3.5g coverage so i can't send a message. i need help pls. ASAP.

Try the other option (UMTS).  The problem is that in dual mode, when there's not enough 3G coverage, the phone switches to GSM. During the switch, the connection gets interrupted.  Check the messagecenter numbers with your service provider.

  • Send outgoing messages action buggy?

Could someone confirm the following behavior of the "send outgoing messages action"?
create a workflow consisting of this single action and then create an outgoing message in Mail. run the workflow. Does this send the message you just created? The action description says that if the action has no input, all outgoing messages will be sent out. however, when i run it, nothing happens.

didn't know about the other two but here is one more:
    make new outgoing message
The description says that if text passed to it as input it's included in the message. In fact this does not happen. I've tried every which way i could. I've recently submitted a bug report about it too and it's still open.
all of this reminds me why i gave up on automator and switched to apple script...

  • How can I send a message from database to a J2EE application?

How can I send a message from database to a J2EE application?
If I have a codetable in database that has new or modified values I have to refresh the codetable in my J2EE application.
Most effective way would be send a message to initiate a table reload from J2EE app, but I don't know how to do this.
Now I have a background thread that regular reads the table and looks for changes.

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/10.1.3/TechNotes/TechNote_BAM_AQ_Configuration.pdf
This document details how to create triggers on a table that send out JMS messages.
In this example, the messages are going to Oracle BAM.. your message could go to your J2EE application listening to its own topic/queue.
    an alternative idea.
you could also just cache your lookup table with something like Oracle Coherence and than try to ensure that all changes to the lookup go through Coherence, so that you won't need to do notification from the db up to the application. the application and the lookup data management tool would be using the data grid for management of the lookup table data, and the data grid (coherence) would persist the lookup data changes back to the db.

  • How can I send a message to multiple contacts using "groups".

How can I send a message to multiple contacts using "groups".
It was easy on my sony ericssonn....do i need to download an app?

There is no group send option like you are looking for.
To send to a group you have to pick each person you want to send to and send as a group that way. Then don't delete that SMS thread and you can reuse it again later.
As for an app, well SMS works via your carrier and the OS, not something an App can do unless the app send the data to them (a third party) and then they relay it to the carrier. Do you really want to be sending your SMS to some 3rd party first?
